Coyote is nice spot to see live local bands outside. They have different musicians all the time. In the early evenings it's an older crowd 50+ and at night it becomes an indoor venue with DJs and dancing and a much younger crowd. It's nice they can accommodate both and there is a small amount of crossover. It can get very crowded both inside and out and parking can be a challenge (read the signs carefully). It's good to get there early so you can get a seat. They have drink specials for happy hour but no food on special. It's a bummer they stopped the food specials, we used to come more frequently back then. I have enjoyed numerous items over the years (some are better than others) and the menu does change every so often. The service is always really good and attentive. Occasionally, you do have to flag someone down but they do a great job for how busy they get! It can be fun when it's not too crowded, but it's hard to dance or move when it is. They also have fire pits to help on cold nights.

Always a busy spot during Happy hour. Located in the Carlsbad Village Faire Shopping Center in the Village. Patio is full of mid age folks, several of which are dancing on the crowded patio during HH. Rotating bands play here. Parking can be a challenge as this is a high traffic area with several shops & restaurants in the center. Lots of tourists in the summer in this area. Happy hour prices on drinks only. No food specials. Attentive waitresses. Small carnitas tacos were pretty good.

This guy was the rudest person I have ever talked to or encountered here in Carlsbad. I was outside of the patio with a friend, waiting for our other friend to come find us outside before entering. When he waved at me to come over, he went up to my friend, in our faces, yelled at us to "GTFO with outside food" and "Just because he turned his back for two seconds, doesn't mean we can allow ourselves in" even after we said "we are not eating here, we are saying hi to a friend " he said "it's common sense not to come in here with outside food isn't it." Mind you we were in there for 5 seconds and were just saying hello, not going to sit down. Yet, proceeded to get mad at us for standing up at a place where everyone is standing and dancing? Right. The worst possible encounter and the service/waiters genuinely suck. They will leave you sitting, waiting for service, for hours. Dirty comments and snarky attitude at a spot that is supposed to be known for "customer service" is quite ironic. Would not recommend at ALL P.S I think the lawnmower forgot a spot on his head. But whatever happened it did serious damage to him

Very happening place. This appears to be the place to come to for a great time with live music and dancing! The food was good and the service was wonderful. Such a vibe!

Really cool place to have brunch on the weekends they have live music. We came here on a Friday night around 7pm and they had a really good band playing. Lots of people dancing, really fun vibe. Waiters were just ok not too attentive. We did not eat here we only had drinks and they were good. We will be back for the music.

Had a wonderful experience at Coyote Bar a Grill today. Ordered the rattlesnake eggs and they were amazing. Then my husband ordered the chili relleno with steak and I ordered the raspberry chipotle salmon. Both dishes were wonderful. Our server Ariel was just amazing. She was so great. Such a sweet gal. Ask for her next time you won't be disappointed. The grill has an amazing bar and dining area. Lots of plants and comfortable seating. And their outside seating with 2 fire pits is so inviting. I totally recommend this restaurant. Especially if you just want to sit outside and listen to the music and order snacks and drinks. The owner Bob and his son Jordan are just the best!! They really run this place so efficiently. We now live out of state but come back every so often and we make it a point to come and eat at Coyote bar and grill.

I almost hate to reveal how great this place is. I have been twice and both times it was a packed house. For such a busy venue/restaurant the service is amazing. Our server, Alexa was extraordinary! She was friendly, attentive, fun to engage with, a real keeper. The menu is full of unique plates to share as well as entrées. There's a full bar with bartenders who know how to make a good drink. There is a good deal of outdoor seating with fire pits are available too for larger groups.. Also, plenty of indoor seating in a nicely decorated interior. Now onto the entertainment... My first experience there there was a amazing Motown/R&B band called "The New Joy Band". Most recently we were thrilled on a Wednesday night to enjoy the "Clearly Dirty"band. Such a tight group of musicians with a female singer that belted out amazing songs the entire night. Definitely my new favorite spot in North County. Can't wait to get back and catch a new musical treat and have a glass of the house, Pinot Grigio!

I'm back in town and went on Sunday for the music. The Buckleys are playing and again the best music. Had a quesadilla with carne asada and it was very good. Waitress was nice but forgot to bring me my receipt. Stayed for the second band, Cool Rush which was excellent! That waitress was nice but I only saw her once in two hours unless I tracked her down, where the day waitress checked in several times. The evening waitress also took my money for a beer and I guess she assumed the rest was her tip. She never came back with change. I let it go because so many people were around, but servers should never assume the change is theirs no matter how much the difference in change is. They should ask, do you want change? (ended up being a 35% tip for one round in two hours) But I will be back. It is still the best place to go for food and music on a Sunday.

Very nice patio and atmosphere and friendly if a little slow staff. We ordered margaritas and it was 1:45, not a mention about happy hour that started at 2:00. Not the kind of service I expect, I tipped too much. The food was just okay. I had a lobster corn chowder. It had all the advertised ingredients but not much flavor it was just ordinary. My wife's chicken tortilla soup was the same. Not very tasty.

The Coyote Bar & Grill in downtown Carlsbad was a fun time. It was one of those nights that starts casually and ends with stories you are still laughing about the next morning. I met a friend from high school with no real expectations, and we ended up having an excellent time. We came for drinks and stayed for the live music, then found ourselves dancing in the club-like area after 10 and making memories. While we did not eat here, we heard from several people that the food is actually good. The crowd was energetic without feeling chaotic, and the vibe made it easy to stay longer than planned. This is the kind of place where time disappears in the best way possible. If you want to dance the night away in downtown Carlsbad, The Coyote Bar & Grill is the place to do it.

We're visiting for our weekly vacation here in Carlsbad at the beach. Walking around the village we decided to pop in for a beer and an appetizer. We opted for the bottomless chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious and the chips crunchy and fresh. They had live music in the patio on this Saturday. They do have live music quite often. We sat inside and we could hear the music very well. The restaurant has a nice updated look. It's been years since we had been in there. Love the new look. Very comfy, cozy and classy looking. Barbara was our server. She's been there 20 years. Thank you Barbara for the great service! Definitely a nice place to visit. When we return, we will try the hamburger. We saw them taking out a couple of plates to another table and they looked very appetizing.

So much improvement in food lately! Good services! Some of the music bands are loud, they try to compete with the train passing by.

It's just not the kind of Mexican restaurant where the veggies are organic and they are not using seed oils. And it works if you've got young kids in tow because the staff is nothing but friendly. I would say it's a very family friendly restaurant perfect for that little strip of Chick Filet, In and Out area of the 101 in Carlsbad. Funny. I am sure Chick Filet is not spelled that way .... but I've never eaten there, and don't really pay attention to fast food restaurants. In and Out is delicious too, but when I got to the bottom of the fries and it said they clearly use seed oils.... I was done. I understand that America is poisoning us ..... so I can't really applaud Miguel. But I also understand that many of us have young kids and less money. It's more about the gathering or being comfortable going for a meal. So it's definitely an option for many people. Plus we're stressed so comfort food is a nice break. I did not go for a salad. I did not go for things not fried. So I would say Miguels is good for a break from eating healthy. Not to deny yourself. Just not to do it as a regular thing. Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. I ordered a chicken taco with a cheese enchilada, while my husband went with two crunchy chicken tacos. His tacos were disappointing--overloaded with onions and what seemed like a messy combination of ingredients--and lacked appeal or good flavor. Despite asking for a simpler, standard version, the second attempt still tasted off. My chicken enchilada seemed microwaved and lacking freshness, and the taco was soggy and overloaded. We left feeling quite disappointed. Sadly, we both felt unwell afterward; my husband especially had a rough evening, vomitting throughout. While the service was friendly and the restaurant was clean, the subpar quality of food means we probably won't return. It was an unfortunate experience, especially after such a special occasion.

The nopales were very unique and had an interesting slightly fruity flavor but I think I preferred the choriqueso. I got rice and refried beans as my side, both of which were also delicious. However I think there was some mixup and I'm pretty sure they accidentally put real cheese on my beans. When I ordered, I clearly heard the guy tell the kitchen that my plate was to be "all vegan including the cheese" but it seems like what happened was they put vegan cheese on my tacos but real cheese on the beans. My wife said she'd never really liked anything she got there, but I said let's give them another try. Counter service was meh. No personality. No greeting. Just took the order and sent us on our way. Her attitude seemingly got worse after I didn't tip. (I do NOT tip at a counter place where I do all the refills and bus my own table.) We got their a 8:30 and they had to put the coffee out because we ordered it. All the bar stools in the front were all upside down on the tables. I'm sure we could have pulled them down, but come-on. It's 8:30 on a Sunday morning. Put your damn chairs down. My wife ordered the Al Pastor scramble served American style (hash browns & toast). The portion was small (no WAY that was three eggs), and the al pastor meat pieces were lacking flavor. The hash browns were barely cooked. She said, "this is what I was talking about." $17 or so. I ordered the breakfast burrito allegedly with chicken fried steak in it. $17 for JUST a burrito with no sides. I tasted no evidence of CFS, but I did taste some sausage gravy. It was a generously sized burrito. I will also add that their salsas go from NO heat (fresca) to super heat. Nothing in the middle. And one of the hot salsas was just yuck. (The one with all the pepper flakes in it.) The other tasted OK. They had carrots & jalapeños at the salsa bar, but tiny cups to put them in, so... Anyway... I like the surf and turf here, but everything else just seems meh. In a town with so much good Mexican food, I'll go elsewhere. The drive-through around the corner would have been cheaper and tastier.
