Coyote is nice spot to see live local bands outside. They have different musicians all the time. In the early evenings it's an older crowd 50+ and at night it becomes an indoor venue with DJs and dancing and a much younger crowd. It's nice they can accommodate both and there is a small amount of crossover. It can get very crowded both inside and out and parking can be a challenge (read the signs carefully). It's good to get there early so you can get a seat. They have drink specials for happy hour but no food on special. It's a bummer they stopped the food specials, we used to come more frequently back then. I have enjoyed numerous items over the years (some are better than others) and the menu does change every so often. The service is always really good and attentive. Occasionally, you do have to flag someone down but they do a great job for how busy they get! It can be fun when it's not too crowded, but it's hard to dance or move when it is. They also have fire pits to help on cold nights.

Always a busy spot during Happy hour. Located in the Carlsbad Village Faire Shopping Center in the Village. Patio is full of mid age folks, several of which are dancing on the crowded patio during HH. Rotating bands play here. Parking can be a challenge as this is a high traffic area with several shops & restaurants in the center. Lots of tourists in the summer in this area. Happy hour prices on drinks only. No food specials. Attentive waitresses. Small carnitas tacos were pretty good.

Really cool place to have brunch on the weekends they have live music. We came here on a Friday night around 7pm and they had a really good band playing. Lots of people dancing, really fun vibe. Waiters were just ok not too attentive. We did not eat here we only had drinks and they were good. We will be back for the music.

Very happening place. This appears to be the place to come to for a great time with live music and dancing! The food was good and the service was wonderful. Such a vibe!

Had a wonderful experience at Coyote Bar a Grill today. Ordered the rattlesnake eggs and they were amazing. Then my husband ordered the chili relleno with steak and I ordered the raspberry chipotle salmon. Both dishes were wonderful. Our server Ariel was just amazing. She was so great. Such a sweet gal. Ask for her next time you won't be disappointed. The grill has an amazing bar and dining area. Lots of plants and comfortable seating. And their outside seating with 2 fire pits is so inviting. I totally recommend this restaurant. Especially if you just want to sit outside and listen to the music and order snacks and drinks. The owner Bob and his son Jordan are just the best!! They really run this place so efficiently. We now live out of state but come back every so often and we make it a point to come and eat at Coyote bar and grill.

I tried to take my parents and uncle and Aunt here tonight. I live in Central San Diego and they were visiting from Orange county. So this was a good middle spot for us to meet. And the restaurant completely failed us. First off giving us a dirty menu. Second of all seating us in a freezing cold section. Honestly it was unbearably cold, even colder than outside. Keep in mind, it's a Tuesday before 6:00 p.m. and they claim there's nowhere else they can see us. I get where a party of six but a little ridiculous to expect us to sit in an ice cold section. Where the AC is blasting. I guess they can address the AC because it's also over the kitchen which is fine but we can't be the first people complaining. Anyways we decided to leave. Honestly we weren't even grumpy or hangry it was just failure to accommodate us. And I don't think they really care considering they gave us a dirty menu should have been the first impression to tell us this the qaulity of this place..

I'm back in town and went on Sunday for the music. The Buckleys are playing and again the best music. Had a quesadilla with carne asada and it was very good. Waitress was nice but forgot to bring me my receipt. Stayed for the second band, Cool Rush which was excellent! That waitress was nice but I only saw her once in two hours unless I tracked her down, where the day waitress checked in several times. The evening waitress also took my money for a beer and I guess she assumed the rest was her tip. She never came back with change. I let it go because so many people were around, but servers should never assume the change is theirs no matter how much the difference in change is. They should ask, do you want change? (ended up being a 35% tip for one round in two hours) But I will be back. It is still the best place to go for food and music on a Sunday.

I hope they book "Clearly Dirty" again soon!

I almost hate to reveal how great this place is. I have been twice and both times it was a packed house. For such a busy venue/restaurant the service is amazing. Our server, Alexa was extraordinary! She was friendly, attentive, fun to engage with, a real keeper. The menu is full of unique plates to share as well as entrées. There's a full bar with bartenders who know how to make a good drink. There is a good deal of outdoor seating with fire pits are available too for larger groups.. Also, plenty of indoor seating in a nicely decorated interior. Now onto the entertainment... My first experience there there was a amazing Motown/R&B band called "The New Joy Band". Most recently we were thrilled on a Wednesday night to enjoy the "Clearly Dirty"band. Such a tight group of musicians with a female singer that belted out amazing songs the entire night. Definitely my new favorite spot in North County. Can't wait to get back and catch a new musical treat and have a glass of the house, Pinot Grigio!

The Coyote Bar & Grill in downtown Carlsbad was a fun time. It was one of those nights that starts casually and ends with stories you are still laughing about the next morning. I met a friend from high school with no real expectations, and we ended up having an excellent time. We came for drinks and stayed for the live music, then found ourselves dancing in the club-like area after 10 and making memories. While we did not eat here, we heard from several people that the food is actually good. The crowd was energetic without feeling chaotic, and the vibe made it easy to stay longer than planned. This is the kind of place where time disappears in the best way possible. If you want to dance the night away in downtown Carlsbad, The Coyote Bar & Grill is the place to do it.

Very nice patio and atmosphere and friendly if a little slow staff. We ordered margaritas and it was 1:45, not a mention about happy hour that started at 2:00. Not the kind of service I expect, I tipped too much. The food was just okay. I had a lobster corn chowder. It had all the advertised ingredients but not much flavor it was just ordinary. My wife's chicken tortilla soup was the same. Not very tasty.

We're visiting for our weekly vacation here in Carlsbad at the beach. Walking around the village we decided to pop in for a beer and an appetizer. We opted for the bottomless chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious and the chips crunchy and fresh. They had live music in the patio on this Saturday. They do have live music quite often. We sat inside and we could hear the music very well. The restaurant has a nice updated look. It's been years since we had been in there. Love the new look. Very comfy, cozy and classy looking. Barbara was our server. She's been there 20 years. Thank you Barbara for the great service! Definitely a nice place to visit. When we return, we will try the hamburger. We saw them taking out a couple of plates to another table and they looked very appetizing.

I was able to bring gifts, cake and we had so much room on a Saturday morning 12pm!

Brought my daughter and family for brunch for my daughter's 21st! I forgot our waitress name I feel so bad she was wonderful. I know she had cute braces hehe. We sat outside at the large fire pit on 12/6. Outstanding service and she even did good and told me my daughter was so kind & respectful, made me smile. The mimosas were good and the food was deeeeliciois who knew! I mean I would come dancing here 20 years ago but never stopped by to eat! Must stop and check it out.!!!!

The parking lot has plentiful parking but was completely full as I was leaving around 12pm. There were tons of order pick-up spots and 20-minute max parking spots that help with the flow. The restaurant was impeccably clean with a growing line of lunch-goers. The workers were very efficient and the line moved quickly. I also noticed the apparent owner/manager talking to regulars and greeting customers as they walked in, which I really liked to see! I was served my order to-go in less than 10 minutes and ended up unexpectedly using the other 10 minutes after taking my first bite--after that it was hard to stop. The burrito was the perfect size (not too large and not too small). My original breakfast burrito was wrapped in a fresh hand-made tortilla filled with fluffy eggs, the perfect amount of bacon, cheese, soft fresh potatoes, topped with the avocado salsa verde which went perfectly with everything. I even ended up sipping the salsa (it was that good) between bites of the burrito. I was also blown away by the clean and fully stocked salsa bar. So many options (including non-spicy ones for those with gastric limitations too!) and they even offered radishes, carrots, and pickled onions individually wrapped with care. Everything tasted fresh and home-made. After 7 years being away from San Diego, Los Tacos delivered exactly what I had been missing. This location really blew me away and I will definitely be back to see what else it has to offer.

Restaurant is very close to the 5 freeway as well as the Carlsbad Flower Fields and Legoland. I enjoyed the food and fancy-casual ambience. Seems like a fairly large stand-alone restaurant with it's own parking lot. Service was attentive and friendly. We came at the recommendation of a local and loved it! We chose this spot also for the queso that comes with the complimentary chips and salsa. So tasty and not too spicy--like a fresher/?healthier/whiter version of nacho cheese. Mango margarita 4.5/5 (with tajin rim) was enjoyable. Strawberry margarita (blended, virgin) 3/5 was good, but reminded me of candy, so probably just not for me. Trio burrito was outstanding. Loved the sourness of the green salsa over the carnitas, the carne asada with red salsa, and even the shrimp burrito (I don't usually love shrimp!). It tasted lighter than typical Mexican food. Portion was impressive, and it came with a side plate of rice and beans. Chile relleno was 3+/5 imo but my fiance enjoyed it as one of the better ones he has had. To me, it just paled in comparison to the burritos :)). Overall high quality, nice-ish (not too fancy) dinner spot for groups and more! Would recommend to others to add to their Carlsbad/SD area trip.

Well, we walked in and it was the "to-go" entrance but we were able to walk to the front of the restaurant and get a seat. We were seated quickly and my picky mom was able to choose where she wanted to sit. It was a little cold for me, and since we opted to sit in the way back it was a little dim. We were seated and served chips, salsa, and queso blanco dip. The sip was a nice touch. The chips were warm. Of course we had a lot of questions about the menu and our server was very helpful in helping us decide. After eating so many chips and queso, I decided on an appetizer for my meal. I had the empanadas. Mom ordered a bowl of albondigas and a combo plate with cheese enchilada and a taco, with the taco on a separate plate. The albondigas came out first. They were not very hot. Maybe lukewarm. We asked for them to be heated. They did. They had a nice flavor. I think I enjoyed the broth the most. For me, it was missing potatoes and had too much tomato, just a preference, there is no wrong way to make albondigas. I asked for all the condiments in the side and they did put everything on the side. The empanadas were okay. Seemed like they were made ahead of time and then slightly warmed. Again, I was missing the potatoes in the picadillo. Mom said her tortilla from the taco was very tuff and hard to eat. It seemed pre fried and old. She opted to eat the inside of the taco with tortilla chips. She's picky about her enchiladas. The cheese in the enchilada was slightly melted. The enchilada looked freshly made which, for me, can be a bad thing because making it fresh and heating in the salamander versus in the oven doesn't allow the cheese to fully melt. Now, the enchilada sauce was good and the rice was very good. Mom did complain about the lack of fullness in her plate. I reminded her that her taco would have sat in that empty spot. . . lol. . . On our way out, we noticed they were making homemade tortillas and wondered why we didn't get any lol. . . I think if I was in the area again I would stop in, especially for the albondigas.
