Had to tell you I'm really happy that I watched the World Cup game here I live in Los Angeles, which is about 93 miles away from this place, but a good friend of mine recommended it and although it was a challenge to find parking because it was Friday night and kickoff the World Cup ceremonies. The seating I got was incredibly comfortable. The service was great and I gotta tell you I kicked it up with probably one of the newest appetizers I ever have they call rattlesnake eggs they're jalapeños wrapped at bacon and cream cheese inside they were super delicious. I got the avocado ranch to dip it in. I have to tell you though the Angus burger medium rare now I might make a recommend medium or medium well because it is juicy, but this hamburger was delicious and juicy and it is very well sized, but let me tell you the Coyte grace came from what my friend ordered and boy was jealous The coyote nachos are incredible. I recommend getting them with steak... These flavorful delicious nachos. Come with an incredibly dark salsa that will make your mouth water. I had to get extra sour cream and jalapeños because my friend knew he wasn't gonna be able to eat them without some Assistance, whether he wanted it or not not to mention you wanna take some chips and salsa home they'll sell it to you right here. this is what we're the trip from Los Angeles and I'm gonna tell you although it gets loud in here when he gets Act it's a family restaurant and we all love that on a Friday night... And actually in this case every night for me but Friday nights they also have live music in outdoor seating I don't wanna ever pass this place up, but let me tell you those nachos? Such a disappointment on Monday Karaoke night at Coyotes! We got there and were told the karaoke was all filled up so none of our group could sign up. The worst part is the DJ let those singers sing second and third and even fourth songs! So here we are not able to sing while watching the singers who did sign up ding over and over again! That's a guaranteed way to create disappointment for others...which is why it's a two star review. It'd be nice to change this system so more people could sing! On the positive side their fish tacos are delicious! You can order just one and they are pretty filling. Coyote is nice spot to see live local bands outside. They have different musicians all the time. In the early evenings it's an older crowd 50+ and at night it becomes an indoor venue with DJs and dancing and a much younger crowd. It's nice they can accommodate both and there is a small amount of crossover. It can get very crowded both inside and out and parking can be a challenge (read the signs carefully). It's good to get there early so you can get a seat. They have drink specials for happy hour but no food on special. It's a bummer they stopped the food specials, we used to come more frequently back then. I have enjoyed numerous items over the years (some are better than others) and the menu does change every so often. The service is always really good and attentive. Occasionally, you do have to flag someone down but they do a great job for how busy they get! It can be fun when it's not too crowded, but it's hard to dance or move when it is. My girlfriends and I visited Coyote Bar during the 4th of July weekend. It was BUSY BUSY! The DJ was really good and there were lots of people dancing. Unfortunately, our experience at the bar was not great. We were ignored by the same bartender multiple times throughout the night - we would wave or try to get her attention, but it felt as if she was serving the male customers first even if we were standing there before them. Always a busy spot during Happy hour. Located in the Carlsbad Village Faire Shopping Center in the Village. Patio is full of mid age folks,several of which are dancing on the crowded patio during HH. Rotating bands play here. Parking can be a challenge as this is a high traffic area with several shops & restaurants in the center. Lots of tourists in the summer in this area. I enjoy coming to Coyote Bar & Grill on Friday and Saturday nights because the atmosphere is always lively and fun. This guy was the rudest person I have ever talked to or encountered here in Carlsbad. I was outside of the patio with a friend, waiting for our other friend to come find us outside before entering. When he waved at me to come over, he went up to my friend, in our faces, yelled at us to "GTFO with outside food" and "Just because he turned his back for two seconds, doesn't mean we can allow ourselves in" even after we said "we are not eating here, we are saying hi to a friend " he said "it's common sense not to come in here with outside food isn't it." Mind you we were in there for 5 seconds and were just saying hello, not going to sit down. Yet, proceeded to get mad at us for standing up at a place where everyone is standing and dancing? Right. The worst possible encounter and the service/waiters genuinely suck. They will leave you sitting, waiting for service, for hours. Dirty comments and snarky attitude at a spot that is supposed to be known for "customer service" is quite ironic. Would not recommend at ALL P.S I think the lawnmower forgot a spot on his head. Had a wonderful experience at Coyote Bar a Grill today. Ordered the rattlesnake eggs and they were amazing. Then my husband ordered the chili relleno with steak and I ordered the raspberry chipotle salmon. Both dishes were wonderful. Our server Ariel was just amazing. She was so great. Such a sweet gal. Ask for her next time you won't be disappointed. The grill has an amazing bar and dining area. Lots of plants and comfortable seating. And their outside seating with 2 fire pits is so inviting. I totally recommend this restaurant. Especially if you just want to sit outside and listen to the music and order snacks and drinks. The owner Bob and his son Jordan are just the best!! 1 star for having a great DJ and 1 star for being open late. Other than that don't waste your time. The first bartender we talked to was very rude. Not sure if he was bored or drunk but he acted like we were taking up his time and didn't want to answer any questions or help us. The food was so bad, I'm truly shocked. No flavor at all. I got 2 shots at table and was charged $10/each. Went to the bar later in the night and was charged $6/each for the exact same shots. Felt very ripped off but it's easy for them to do that because there are ZERO prices on the menu for drinks except the wine. And to top it off there's an extra 5% surcharge on every purchase. When I got home and checked my account there was an extra separate $20 charge. I never opened a tab. I made 3 separate purchases and closed out each time so why do I have an extra 4th charge for $20?? Very disappointing at what this place has become. Haven't been here in 6 years and definitely won't be going back. Put prices on your menu for drinks, and stop with the extra charges. I see multiple complaints about this in the reviews so this is clearly a You problem. read more

AN INCIDENT HANDLED CORRECTLY: My friend and I sat at the bar, which was our only option as the outside courtyard was filled for the great live music. We had so much fun and met some great people, like Dan who was sitting next to us... unfortunately, we eventually met a really rude (likely very drunk) woman and her friend. Dan went out to the courtyard to dance to Toga Party band... This rude woman insisted on Dan's seat, even after we told her there was someone sitting there... his drink still on the bar... she pushed it off to the side, spilling the beer and sat halfway on the seat... she didn't care and said something like, if he isn't here, the seat is open and ordered a beer for her and her friend. My friend and I let it go because she was so aggressive and drunk, we really didn't want a confrontation. Dan eventually came back from dancing (probably less than 4 minutes). BTW, there was no seating outside, so this was our only option as we arrived when the band started playing. Dan returned and explained to the woman he had been sitting there for over an hour, and wanted to finish his beer and take back his seat... she started calling him all kinds of ludicrous names and talking BS! He sat halfway on the stool, (she was on the other half) standing his ground but not responding to her verbal assault) and my friend told me she was saying all kinds of really mean stuff to him... I couldn't hear because I was on her other side... the restaurant was loud, as most restaurants are are around 8 pm. The bartender was great! When he realized what was happening and tried to reason with her to be a nice human, he finally realized she would not choose that path and pulled the 2 ladies drinks (from her friend as well) and said... "you're outta here, don't make me call security". (obviously after trying to speak to her calmly)... but she persisted until security was called to escort her out. She called him a racist, which he was defiantly NOT (she was Latina, but she was trying to use any excuses for her bad behavior). THEN... I wish I was done!!! Her sister came over about 10 minutes later... ordered a beer and continued to berate Dan. Literally staring him down like she was going to end him!!! She asked him aggressive, leading questions... not trying to get to the truth, but to defend her sister, so I chimed in to speak reason, (which didn't inflame the situation, but did not change her attitude at all) My friend told me even her own brother was trying to get her to walk away... the bartender realized what was happening and pulled the her drink off the bar and kicked her out and said, everyone with you needs to leave! Security came promptly and they left. I gotta say, her brother came back and paid for the drinks (they were almost full when the staff pulled them)... he was embarrassed and apologized to us all, he was nice and made an effort to be reasonable. Ultimately, the staff was very busy, but when they realized what was happening, they were on it!!! the staff will help take care of you.... Especially in the summertime when you don't know what kind of crazy drunk people show up. They even bought Dan a beer for having to endure the berating... (he almost left) and was a great sport and did not instigate her toxicity. I've been coming to see live music here for decades with friends and never experienced this before. Security and the bartenders took care of us when they realized what was happening. Overall, a great time and knowing that the staff has your back will make me be even more inclined to come back! I must say this was a rare event and I'm so thankful for the professionalism of the staff. I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to say, Thank you Coyote bar and grill for your professionalism and support to make it a fun evening! Came here on a Saturday night with a group of 3 girls. While in line a man grabbed my friends a$$ and snuck through the line without paying and ended up at the bar. We told several security guards and servers to which none of them did anything to handle the situation. They stated "nothing could be done unless [they] see it with [their] own eyes".It made us feel incredibly uncomfortable and will definitely not be returning. $5 to pay for someone to grope you in line and security to look the other direction? I almost hate to reveal how great this place is. I have been twice and both times it was a packed house. For such a busy venue/restaurant the service is amazing. Our server, Alexa was extraordinary! She was friendly, attentive, fun to engage with, a real keeper. The menu is full of unique plates to share as well as entrées. There's a full bar with bartenders who know how to make a good drink. There is a good deal of outdoor seating with fire pits are available too for larger groups.. Also, plenty of indoor seating in a nicely decorated interior. Now onto the entertainment... My first experience there there was a amazing Motown/R&B band called "The New Joy Band". Most recently we were thrilled on a Wednesday night to enjoy the "Clearly Dirty"band. Such a tight group of musicians with a female singer that belted out amazing songs the entire night. Definitely my new favorite spot in North County. I'm back in town and went on Sunday for the music. The Buckleys are playing and again the best music. Had a quesadilla with carne asada and it was very good. Waitress was nice but forgot to bring me my receipt. Stayed for the second band, Cool Rush which was excellent! That waitress was nice but I only saw her once in two hours unless I tracked her down, where the day waitress checked in several times. The evening waitress also took my money for a beer and I guess she assumed the rest was her tip. She never came back with change. I let it go because so many people were around, but servers should never assume the change is theirs no matter how much the difference in change is. They should ask, do you want change? (ended up being a 35% tip for one round in two hours) But I will be back. It is still the best place to go for food and music on a Sunday. read more

I met a friend from high school with no real expectations, and we ended up having an excellent time. We're visiting for our weekly vacation here in Carlsbad at the beach. Walking around the village we decided to pop in for a beer and an appetizer. We opted for the bottomless chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious and the chips crunchy and fresh. They had live music in the patio on this Saturday. They do have live music quite often. We sat inside and we could hear the music very well. The restaurant has a nice updated look. It's been years since we had been in there. Love the new look. Very comfy, cozy and classy looking. Barbara was our server. She's been there 20 years. Thank you Barbara for the great service! Definitely a nice place to visit. When we return, we will try the hamburger. I tried to take my parents and uncle and Aunt here tonight. I live in Central San Diego and they were visiting from Orange county. So this was a good middle spot for us to meet. And the restaurant completely failed us. First off giving us a dirty menu. Second of all seating us in a freezing cold section. Honestly it was unbearably cold, even colder than outside. Keep in mind, it's a Tuesday before 6:00 p.m. and they claim there's nowhere else they can see us. I get where a party of six but a little ridiculous to expect us to sit in an ice cold section. Where the AC is blasting. I guess they can address the AC because it's also over the kitchen which is fine but we can't be the first people complaining. Anyways we decided to leave. Brought my daughter and family for brunch for my daughter's 21st! I forgot our waitress name I feel so bad she was wonderful. I know she had cute braces hehe. I may be a bit biased... because I have been going to coyote bar & grill since I was a little girl... BUT now that I'm older and able to realize flavor in food... I think it is long overdue and I HAVE to take this time to share my take on their restaurant. We visited on Sunday, and arrived at 11am when they opened. The village square where they are located has ample parking BUT that WILL fill up by 12pm on the weekend. Make sure if youre rolling through after 12 that you keep an eye out for any parking on the way because i'd snag whatever you see available. When we walked in we noticed they already had a few tables sat waiting for the kitchen to open.. so it's nice that they let people do that so they aren't just meandering around waiting. We checked-in with the hostess who was all smiles and so sweet. She let us pick anywhere we wanted to sit and we chose outside because it was nice and sunny that morning. Its such a great spot guys, it's in the heart of the village and there's so many people walking around- great people watching! Our server, Ariel, was THE MVP. She was so welcoming, attentive, funny and knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered two mimosas (they're $7.75/each during brunch hours) and Rattlesnake Eggs as our appetizer. Mimosas came out fast and were in a pretty large glass. Our Rattlesnake eggs came out shortly after our drinks and those are a MUST GET. If you're just stopping by for drinks? get THIS as your appetizer with a side of chips and dip... best option you can do. We then ordered our mains and I had the chile rellenos (added steak), and my boyfriend got the Breakfast Burger (medium rare). BOTH dishes - delicious. Cooked well, flavor was there.... it wasn't oily or soggy. That's HUGE. I know you've been to Mexican restaurants or Mexican inspired and you had soggy or oily something lol Our server checked on us at all the right times and we ordered another mimosa. My boyfriend ordered the The Duke... which is a take on a mule and also delicious. Dining there I've never felt rushed and I've always had good service. Ariel just solidified the fact that every visit here can be a great visit! We left after a while and walked around the village square, when we came back around to Coyote, we saw the band was setup at the entrance area and people were dancing. If you want a nice brunch... good drinks... great food... and a opportunity to dance it up with family and friends, this is the spot. Try them out guys! During our stroll in Carlsbad Village, we stopped by for drinks here after walking by the live band and people dancing in their patio. We sat at the bar and were greeted after a few minutes. We both ordered margaritas, I think mine was Dragonfruit. Drinks were good but overpriced. There were no prices on the drink menu except one that said $3 to upgrade the size. Weird to tell you how much it is to upgrade it but not even prices of the actual drink? We didn't get a chance to be outside where the music was but eventually noticed that there's a check minimum of $25 per person to be able to sit out there with entertainment. I'll pass. We had a surprisingly good lunch here today. We sat of the patio as we had our dog. They had a small band playing (not bad) but we sat away from them to limit the volume. She had the spinach mushroom omelet with extra crispy hash and I had the huevos rancheros. Both were delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and always able to help.
