I always wanted to try Chicago Deep Dish/Stuffed pizza. I asked around, and many people recommended Frankie's. My girlfriend and I went over and ordered their Buffalo Wings and a whole 14-inch Deep Dish/Stuffed pizza. We kept it simple with just cheese, sauce, tomatoes, spinach, and basil. You can order by the slice, but for the experience I personally want, I ordered a full pizza. 1. The wings were covered in their Buffalo sauce. The sauce was good and tangy. The chicken was soggy (due to the sauce, obviously), but it was nice and moist. These were decent wings, but not the go-to. 2. The full 14-inch Chicago Deep Dish/Stuffed pizza was beautiful when it got to the table. It looked exactly like it does on TV/social media. Pulling a slice out follows a godly pull of cheese. Perfection. The sauce was not too sweet, which I prefer, because I prefer a more natural taste. It was super cheesy, which is heaven for cheese lovers like myself. Man, eating this pizza was a mess, haha. It definitely was heavy and hearty. After one slice, I was stuffed and tapped out. I am thankful for Frankie's for allowing us Minnesotans to have a chance at trying out Chicago Deep Dish/Stuffed pizza. My husband had been wanting to try this place for awhile. Hailing from IL, he craves deep dish. I am not a fan of deep dish at all. Food ordered: -Deep dish sausage, onion and peppers- he said this was probably his new go to instead of Girodanos it was that good. -Dagwood was a huge sandwich -Antipasto salad- which was really good and had a good amount of ingredients. Frankie's is one of the better pizza joints in the NW metro. They have three types of pizza deep dish (chicago style) hand toss and thin crust and all their pies are made from scratch. Plan on 30 minutes for a deep dish pie. They also have some great daily specials including a bevy of pastas and salads and one and two slice combos you can order at the counter. It's your average chain as far as the feel of the restarting. if you dine in there is moderate seating and a good assortment of wine and beer. Oh man, we are in town for a hockey tournament and decided we wanted to eat near our hotel. We picked Frankie's to eat after the game. Knowing there are a billion ways to make pizza and everyone claims theirs is the best, we were trusting previous Yelp reviews and went in. I have to say that this is perhaps the best pizza I have ever had. I have long fantasized about a pizza so loaded with ingredients that you can't pick it up because the crust can't hold it. You have to eat it with a fork. Fantasy fulfilled! It was loaded down. There are many good pizzas out there but the taste of the ingredients all blend together and get lost. Not this one. You could taste the different flavors. My wife kept saying if you keep eating, you're gonna be sick. But hey, I've been waiting for a long time. I'm not going to let my fantasy pizza go uneaten. I'm getting all i want plus some. While we were eating we saw about 10 people come in to get To-Go orders so you know the locals know this place is good. I grew up on Frankie's and haven't been there in awhile. My wife and I decided to stop and try it and wow, it was amazing. The decor is fun. I love the large over head menu. The staff were extremely attentive. I am always looking for a good Chicago dog and I've struggled to find one until today! Frankie's has a great Chicago dog. Large flavorful freshly made hot dog topped with the right ingredients. I personally would have like a little more celery salt but it was still delicious! I will be back for more. Today on 2/6 I called Frankies Pizza at approx. 8:54pm, wasn't aware they were closing at 9pm. I was put on hold instantly. Once the young lady got on the phone I asked for a pizza in regards to my birthday coupon and was told that "we close in 1 min and my guy wouldn't be happy since he has already cleaned up." I even asked if they could just make it and I would bake it. I do understand that it was late, I too work as a cook for my third job and as a FSW for my 2nd job but that isn't a response my company would be happy to hear about. It would just be best to not answer at all or immediately state that the store was closed. There was no reason to put me on hold and state that. Just my opinion. Laura, the assistant manager is absolutely horrible! We made an order which was partially delivered and they absolutely refused to remake the order. She wouldn't even allow me to speak to Shane, the General Manager. The food we did receive was cold and had a very off smell. This was hands down the absolute worst experience I've ever had. Ok, I will start by saying that we did not eat here, so this is a review purely based on hospitality and customer service...rather the LACK of said topics. We chose Frankie's after seeing the ratings for this location on Yelp (hey, y'all!) and because we were hankering for some good pizza, this seemed like a great option. We arrived to the location and for the first three minutes, we decided what we were going to order, including alcoholic beverages. Noticing the people who also were seated in the restaurant seemingly happy and munching on their pizza, we walked up to the counter with registers that should take money for payment of services rendered, but we were not greeted by any of the six or more employees that were behind the immediate vicinity and we stood there...for another four minutes. By then, two more employees came in through the back, but you know what? One of them made eye contact with me, smiled, and went on about just-came-back-from-or-is-still-on his break so sir, this is not about you. Anyway, going on the fifth minute, I asked the four employees who were immediately within earshot if we needed to order online? One of said employees looked at me, moved to say something, decided against it, and then turned her back to me. I was then told yes by one of the youngest looking gentleman back there. So you mean to tell me that, despite the fact that there is no noticeable signage anywhere telling customers online orders only is a thing at your restaurant and no walk-ins allowed; that, if you decide to order alcoholic beverages that are advertised on a chalkboard on the wall; that you have two WHOLE EXPENSIVE REGISTERS to take money, that you are ACTUALLY online only? You mean to tell me that after knowing that customers are standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, you can't tell someone that you ONLY take orders online or at the basic level to kindly ask if I were picking up an order made online to hint that I needed to do so? What is the point of having eight employees at one time when they can't even tell customers how to place orders so that they can make the pizzas that make them necessary to employ? We ordered a monster pizza and a Dagwood sandwich. First, the monster pizza had plenty of toppings, and wasn't overpowered by the red sauce. The pepperonis were a little spicy for me, but then, I have been called a wuss as far as my spice tolerance. My husband thought so when I mentioned the spicyness of the pepperonis. You MUST try the Dagwood sandwich, but be very hungry when you do! It is loaded with turkey, ham, roast beef and bacon....then they add cheese, lettuce and tomato. We ordered delivery from here as we were staying in a hotel. Ordered about 740 on a Friday night with a 45-60 min ETA which is expected for a Friday. Tried to use the "order online" option but would not take the code advertised on their website so I called. Although very busy the gentleman was very polite. The delivery guy was also friendly. They have a wide menu from salads, pasta, ribs, and pizza. We ordered a Chicago pan style pizza 14". The pizza was cut into 8 slices which at first glance didn't look like it would feed 3 kids and 2 adults after several hours of swimming. However the pizza is thick, cheesy, and wasn't greasy. We did order pepperoni and green olive which I felt the toppings were skimpy, maybe 4 olives and 3 pepperoni on each slice. One sliced pretty much filled each kid (also had a slice of cheesy bread). The marinara sauce (for cheesy bread) appears to be homemade, had good flavor. The pizza was definitely a step up from your pizza chains (dominos, Pizza Hut, etc) however not something that is memorable or I would crave or need to get every time I visit the cities. I would try their pasta dishes next time. Tip...you don't need to order extra cheese...it comes standard with plenty. read more
