Well..... I used to LOVE the place but now a change in ownership. We arrived at 12:45 (so.... A little late lunch). They used to have all the sandwiches and salads prepared. Today, they were low on everything. More importantly, there were 3-4 staff people milling about..... all the outside tables were dirty, and 2 of them rocked significantly. The water was empty and stayed that way the entire time we were there even though I handed it to a staff member. The plastic utensils were low.... NO forks. And the worst part was that the trash can was overflowing and filthy. Very sad. Absentee owners I'm guessing. Oh well....... Fix this!! read more

Arugula for the win! Everything about our meal at Franklin Bakehouse was amazing. We had the Ham and Cheese on Sourdough and the Turkey Baguette, both of which were so tasty, and we loved the addition of the arugula to them. It really took the flavor to a whole new level. We also had a side of the tomato bisque soup, which was also incredible. It was so fresh, and were pleasantly surprised of the carrots and onions in it. The service was great, and all the employees were very friendly and quick to help and make any recommendations. The overall vibe of the restaurant was very nice, with both indoor and outdoor seating, accompanied by local art for purchase. I also liked that we could see all of the treats and salads as we ordered. Everything looked delicious, and it made choosing what to have even harder!We finished our meal with a gluten free cookie, which was delicious as well. We can't wait to come back. read more

Where are the lovely man and woman who have always run this place? This has been our Sunday tradition for a long time. But today it was an entirely different experience. The sweet teenagers working here needed help! We ate in shifts. No one's food came out together. The portions were way off. I had the worlds smallest piece of quiche and my son had the worlds largest piece of French toast. Everyone had a normal side salad except mine that came out with rice sprinkled all over it. It was not good. We had to remind them of several things like the serve yourself water needs cups. When we got the cups, there was no water. They were blaming a brunch rush but we were there over an hour and there was never a line. We've been there with much longer lines and way less waiting. It just felt like there was no one in charge. The wonderful couple who've always been there were brilliant at putting out fires, solving issues, keeping the teenager workers calm all the while visiting with their customers. We became friends with a poor man who had been waiting for 30 minutes for a bagel. He and several others were very annoyed and made it clear to these poor kids trying to run things. I hope today was just an off day. I'm not sure I'll be able to convince my family to go back anytime soon. But we do love you, Bakehouse. Really hoping this isn't the new normal!! read more

Amazing experience from the minute we walked in the door. We got there just as church across the street had dismissed so there was a line, but that is always a good sign. Staff is friendly and accommodating, decor is light, happy and soothing. Food! Oh my goodness!! The quiche of the day was amazing and the lemon lavender muffin was unique and delicious! There is a bakery case with numerous flavors of scones along with a few specialty pastries which today included a chocolate croissant and a cherry almond bun. There were also two cakes in the case:. Pina colada and Angie's coffee cake. There is also a small market with make ahead salads and dinners along with some packaged goods. We took some shepherd's pie and pimento cheese from the case with us to enjoy later! Definately a wonderful addition to downtown Franklin and a must try!!! read more

I just love this place! They always have many different choices of pastries. The lemon blueberry scone is my favorite! And the ham sandwich with herb butter is great. But the best thing is the new soups they've added to the rotation. Their new Chicken Enchilada soup is the best! I love the whole feel of Downtown Franklin and this place is full of friendly customers and employees. It's a got a feeling of being home with your friends. Our family and friends have been going to Franklin Bakehouse for Sunday brunch for years; but today may be our last day. There is new ownership; but today there was only teenagers working. The service was very, very slow. I ordered quiche which just need to be heated up -- took forever. Some of our party didn't get their food until others was finished eating. We wanted to try a place in Franklin we have not been to yet for a quick lunch. The interior is like a modern, rustic deli/market. The hubs and I both ordered Turkey, bacon on sourdough. His with fresh fruit and mine with quinoa salad. It was fresh and delicious. We also had a piece of their coffee cake. It was yummy and very different then the NY type I was raised on. First and most importantly, the owners care deeply about the quality of the products and the service. After that, everything else is just icing on the cake. I've been coming here since they opened and have tried several products. They all either met, or exceeded expectations. When you consider that I am a picky foodie, that's quite an accomplishment. I'm from Chicago and have been spoiled. I have been pretty disappointed in the food scene in the Nashville/Franklin area (I did say I was picky.. ok very picky). This place is one of the places where I can feel at home. The crusty baguette sandwiches are perfect for me. They have others on softer bread, which I'm sure are great but not my cup of tea. Get the quinoa salad as a side. It's great. The bagels are chewy, not as soft as you'd get at Costco or Dunkin donuts... but again, that's right up my alley. They are homemade, fresh that morning. I love how they do their very best to feature local products and others from around that country that are special. If I am going to keep eating so much bread, I'm hoping they can start to carry Dr. Brown's Diet Black Cherry. I have to cut calories somewhere. Come for breakfast, come for lunch.... Come to have a cup of coffee with a friend and relax in their comfortable seating area. The coffee is local and fresh. They have a local cold brew on tap that is also great. As I started this review off with, this is a family run establishment that acts like their name is on everything they sell. To me, that always makes everything taste better. I mean their mother/grandmother even works there! What more could you want. I read some of the earlier reviews. One got my attention. The reviewer complained that the service was not friendly. That has never happened to me at this establishment. It likely will at some point. Some day one of their employees may be having a bad day, or a few bad days. In the crazy world we live in, those are more common. Staffing is as difficult as it has been in a few decades. If you are having a bad day, you know what I will do? I won't come on here and complain. I will show some compassion and try and turn that frown upside down. We are all in this together. If you haven't checked this place out, YOU HAVE TO GO!!! This is a must for anyone visiting Franklin or even if you live here. Let me start with the best part: The pastries. They are worth every diet being broken. Their chocolate filled pastry is the softest and yummiest ever. Their coffee cake is delicious. Every pastry I tried - none have failed me. The brunch/breakfast: oh my. I had the cream cheese smoked salmon bagel sandwich. It was soooo good. Perfect (and pretty good) amount of salmon, plus really good flavor. My husband loves the quiche - every weekend we've tried different ones and they're all so good. The best part: there's a bar!!! Wine, beer, etc. Perfect for brunch! The place is adorable. Makes you feel like you're in a big city, but with the warm welcome of a small town. The owners are always there and it really makes you feel like you're truly supporting your community and a family's dream. Favorite breakfast place hands down. Such a great place! I've driven by there many times, and was able to go in today.. I met most of the family who owns it (precious).. Everything is Local, as are they, the family. If you've noticed, they are taking the two places beside them!.. one will be a bistro, sit down atmosphere, with a full bar, and the other, will be a wine and spirits place!!! I am in love love LOVE with this market. I've been proselyting to all my friends and coworkers about how absolutely delicious their food is. Having traveled a lot around the world, and been exposed to some sweets that you don't often find in the US, I nearly died and went to heaven when I found them at the Bakehouse. Even their "traditional" sweets are delicious. On a whim, I bought a linzer cookie while waiting for a friend, and it was, no joke, the best linzer I'd ever had. Being as distracted as I was by the food, I didn't realize for the longest time that the shop continued in the back, and eventually found their fantastic collection of local goods for sale. I ended up buying a bunch of goodies for my out-of-state family, as well as some homemade pasta for myself. Okay, am I gushing enough? I placed a pick up order so they had my phone number and could have called me to inform me the items I ordered were unavailable and allow me to choose my own substitutions. My wife, and two kids come here nearly every weekend. We order their house made bagels and cream cheese. I'm giving this place 5 stars because it's one of the few places that is making things in house in the Franklin area. It's such a breath fresh air getting food from a restaurant that isnt just reheated packaged food from Birite, like so many of the restaurants in the area. This is for my experience not he food which is a hit or miss. Somethings are good somethings just aren't. I find the pastries are dry nothing special most times and the brownies incredible sweet barely edible. My issue is on my latest visit this afternoon a woman over charged me. She said almost 11 dollars for a bill that was only 4 plus tax. Ok mistakes happen even though they mostly happen in favor of the merchant not me 99 percent of the time but besides that I asked for an explanation but no apology nothing. I said how did this happen and she barely gave me some excuse that made absolutely no sense still no apology after asking twice for a clarification. My advice would be to watch your money very carefully here based on my experience today. read more

The Italian focaccia sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. My husband and I get them to-go regularly and they are consistently stellar! The employees behind the register (whom, in their defense, mostly appear to be high school students) are mildly polite at very best but the sandwiches are so good that I don't even care. I had written a review but apparently it went missing - I was here with my Mom and hubby just after they opened - it was very quaint a bit pricey but that's to be expected in a touristy town ! We ordered Sandwiches ( bread was hard on all 3 , very little flavor and just underwhelming) , we ordered a piece of ' chocolate cake' was nothing like chocolate it was weird and tasted awful , I did bring home cookies ( stale), the coffee was not hot at the restaurant , but the baked potato I brought home was great hence the 2 stars!
