Our party of 5 came here after another restaurant informed us their fryer and grill top were down... a lady at a gift shop highly recommended the Franklin House. My uncles and aunts who live nearby had never heard of it but we decided to give it a shot. Upon arriving, the small parking lot area was full. Uh oh. Inside, the place was pretty small, say approximately 10 tables(???) Every table was filled except one. The waitress asked if we had a reservation and we said no. She looked frazzled. We asked about sitting outside and she said we could BUT we probably wouldn't get good service. (It appeared there were only 2 waitresses doing it all.) So we waited the 15 min or so to get a table inside... Unfortunately the biggest negative was HOW LOUD IT WAS SITTING INSIDE. I'm using caps because we HAD TO YELL TO TALK TO ONE ANOTHER. It was so loud, it was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I remember wincing when a table would laugh because it was SO DANG PIERCING LOUD. Nonetheless, the food was good. I got the buffalo chicken wrap and tots. Others in my party got a chicken Philly, French dip, a salad and a beef tip special. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The server was good. Friendly, attentive despite having to MANY tables. Atmosphere: pretty small footprint/dining area. Taxidermy on the walls, numerous TVs. VERY LOUD. All in all, good food, good service but WAY too loud for us. read more

Lunch on a Friday - in west-central NY state. That means Beer Battered Haddock Fish Fry is on the menu. Oh Yeah! The food was fantastic!!! Franklin House is a little bit off the beaten path, but if someone tells you about it, you can find it easily enough. All my years in and out of this area, and I never knew it existed until someone told me to give it a try. Interior is woody, exactly what I expect from a lakeside restaurant - knotty pine/cedar walls and bar. This took me back to my childhood memories with my granddad taking us to similar places with similar ambiance. Parking can be challenging if one gets there at the height of a lunch/dinner shift, especially on a Friday (fish fry night). read more

We went on a weekday night and had hoped to sit outside to read a bit while sipping drinks before chowing down. Alas no outdoor service that day but our server was very accommodating in leaving us to read while at a high top. For dinner we split wings and the special of the day, Caesar salad with scallops. All very good and enjoyable local spot. read more

The bartender and staff were so fun at Franklin House! They made us feel like locals. Food was tasty too. Make sure to get the wings and the onion rings. Wish we had more time, we would have went again! read more

Super bummed that we didn't get to this place until our last day in town! If we ever make it out to Sodus again, we are hitting up Franklin House right away! We walked in very soon after they opened and posted up at the bar, which is always where the good service is. Anne-Marie was THE BEST! She was funny, chatty, helpful with the menu, and really made us feel like we were local regulars (like every other person sitting at the bar!). Everyone was so very friendly, including the owner James. He definitely helped me out with my wifi issue. In addition to the outstanding staff, we very much enjoyed our food. Of course I had to get a Zweigle's White Hot with Meat Sauce and Cheese. I mean, hello?!? Required! We also enjoyed some onion rings and wings. Love finding local spots like this and I can imagine spending an afternoon on their patio listening to live music would be an excellent way to spend the day. This place has great reviews for a reason. I enjoyed the house made Cole slaw and grilled chicken salad. The Cole slaw has a horseradish finish that I wasn't expecting but oh wow, so unique and delicious. Grilled Chicken salad was also great. Friendly staff. It was very busy, parking lot was packed. I took that as a great sign. I was by myself so I sat right away and which was nice. Food came out quick. read more

Let me tell you..they have the very BEST hot turkey and hot roast beef sandwiches, awesome mashed taters with a beautiful gravy. This is all I get when I go in person or take out, we live 2 minutes away. I should probably venture out on the menu and try something else but I just can't sway from my hot roast beef, hubby has turkey. GREAT! great service, great food - I had the buffalo chicken wrap with shoestring fries, and my coworker had a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon added. It looked absolutely amazing and he devoured it. Didn't think anything about dessert until our server told us that the owners wife is doing a start up bakery. So there were three amazing cupcakes to choose from. I chose a chocolate cake with chocolate chips, filled with white cream, topped with ganache. It was packed up in a perfect box to take with me even came with a little fork when I got back to work later in the day, it was amazing !! read more

Came up to Sodus Point for a night after a race. Found this place on yelp and I was so glad I did. Real local feel and very welcoming. Had the wings as an appetizer and a huge burger for dinner. Price was very reasonable. The waitress I had was really personable and attentive and the food was great. I would recommend visiting if your in town. read more

Visiting from out of town I look this up on Yelp and decided this would be a great place to try with my family. I was not disappointed. There were 14 of us dining there and everyone had a great experience. I had the black and blue burger and it was great. Onion rings was great. Great food, good service. The wings are gigantic, just make sure you ask for them well done. They have a ton of different sauces. I recommend the Dirtybird, which is medium buffalo and garlic parm. The rest of my family usually gets the Franklin bowl which is a huge portion. They all get the half portion and have leftovers. It would be nice if they were able to arrange for boat slips with a nearby marina. We would come far more often. The food is always consistent and fairly priced. Outdoor seating is limited but reservations can be made. read more

Maybe we caught this place on an 'off' day. It was opening day for hunting why we visited, so not sure if that would have an impact? Stopped in to grab a bite. Bar was full, as were most tables. We seated ourselves since no one was around. A waitress walked by us several times with promise to return. We waited almost 25 minutes with no service, so we left. 2 stars because we liked the quaint, local feeling of the interior. We did order a garlic pizza to-go a week or so later. While the flavor was good, it was very small for the price. There aren't many dining options without making a special trip around here, so we'll probably give it another try a sometime when the parking lot is less crowded... read more

On advice from the locals we decide to try this restaurant. So glad we did! We were given a super friendly greeting and seated right away. The restaurant is clean, decorative and fun. Lovely crowd - fun but not over the top. Our appetizer came out right away. That was a good thing because we were hungry! My husband and I were excited to see what The Franklin House had to offer this year. We arrived early as planned and the place was bustling within minutes. The hand-battered chicken fingers were delicious and the portions was sizable. The waffle fries and tater tots were good too. My hubby enjoyed the fish fry and offered me a bite. Yum! After a day at he beach we were looking for some good comfort food. And did we find it here. Friendly faces greeted us when we walked in. The trashy nachos were to die for. I had the hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. Was just like grandma used to make!! My husband had the fish fry and it was honestly one of the best I've tasted. Our first time on the area and the first place we went to eat. Very, very nice staff who were accommodating of my wife and her broken leg/crutches. It wasn't too busy, but they seemed to only have one waiter who busted his butt to keep up and did a good job, but it did leave us waiting a bit - not bad though. Dry rubs wings to start were tasty. My young adult son really enjoyed the burger saying it was juicy and cooked properly. The rest of us all got the comfort food bowl (I forget the name) - it had chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and gravy all in one bowl. My kind of comfort food! I was afraid it would be too salty, but it was not. Very good, tasty meal that hit the spot after a long day. Portions were very big and none of us could finish it.
