I was in Rochester from out of town and wanted to find a place to watch the Sabres game. This bar came across my radar and when I asked around it came across highly recommended. It was NOT a disappointment. It's crazy I lived in Rochester for 18 1/2 years and never heard of it before and that was my loss. The atmosphere, the energy, the community in this bar was outstanding. They have a great selection of beers on tap. I started with The Kind but when I saw they had Mass Riot from Prison City I quickly moved to that. Didn't think I was going to eat but the food smelled so good I had to order. SO many things looked great on the menu it was so tough to choose. Ended up getting hot Buffalo Wings and the Pot Roast Grilled Cheese. The wings were good. A little sweet which is not my jam for Buffalo Wings but they still were good quality. The Pot Roast Grilled Cheese was absolutely freekin outstanding. Shamrock Jacks is now on my must visit every time I come back to Rochester. read more

A lovely venue with a patio just seconds away from Seabreeze Amusement Park. We stopped in for dinner after a day on the rides. Our server recommended the corned beef & cabbage, and I was not disappointed. My wife ordered the baked haddock and it was huge! I love a good Irish pub experience and Shamrock Jack's delivers! I had only been once before in 2018, and had a lovely time then. My partner and I were hoping to mini golf (FYI - Pinewood not yet open for the season, womp womp), then grab a drink. We skipped straight to drinking and had a lovely time sitting out on the Culver rd patio. The inside looked quite busy for a Thursday, so we were content to sit out on the patio alone. I went with a moscow mule, which was delicious and served in an absolut mug. Colin went with an "old fashioned" (who orders an old fashioned at a pub? LOL), and it came out looking almost like a tropical drink! We both enjoyed either way and our server was super attentive and sweet. You have to order food still currently, so we went with the pub pretzels, which were totally sweet and had an almost churro-y texture? IDK but we were into it. I want to go back and try some more menu items. The prices are super reasonable (my mule was $7), and when I went for lunch in the past everyone thoroughly enjoyed everything they had. My sweet friend and I went on Monday 4/1 for a quiet dinner. Wrong. It was anything for the first 30 minutes but even mildly quiet. I had Salmon and he had Delmonico steak. I have to say I have NEVER had better Salmon. It was flavorful as were the mashed potato's and the broccoli. Irish butter pad sat on top of the fish just melting away. It had a light crunch to the out side that I was told was pan seared and then baked. Perfection! Our waitress was absolutely fabulous. The bar has a lot of really nice features. It did finally calm down with the exception of a 60 something fellow at the bar carrying on a loud long conversation on his phone. We will go back again, it was charming. read more

My boyfriend and I came in this evening and had calamari and bowl of Mouthwatering French onion soup. The other soup this evening was the Manhattan chowder.for the appetizer. And for the main course he had a fish fry with french fries and coleslaw. My main course was lobster mac & cheese. Unfortunately there are no photos to share as we ate them, as we couldn't wait. Today we scheduled a lunch gathering of 7 at Shamrock Jack's. We were greeted kindly at the door and promptly seated in the large room off the barroom. Our server, Alisha, was alert, as we were seated, and took drink orders as we waited for one of our group to arrive. As we placed our food orders, she was very positive, offered suggestions when asked, and had no problem with preparing separate checks for the group. We couldn't decide what to do for dinner so we came down the road to one of our local hangouts. I have been here plenty of times but just realized I haven't written a review! To start - we waited ~10 minutes to be seated because the kitchen was overwhelmed. To me, this is excellent management and I really appreciate that (as I am sure the kitchen staff did too)!! I definitely did not mind waiting as we just grabbed a drink at the bar and sat outside in the beautiful weather. My husband ordered the fish fry, which he said was absolutely delicious. He subbed out coleslaw for Mac salad too and he said their Mac was superb. I ordered a special, which was probably the best meal I have had in a LONG time. Teriyaki pork ribeye, garlic parm fries & roasted asparagus. Wow, just wow. I don't think I've ever had a pork ribeye before but this was so tender it basically fell apart. The teriyaki sauce was amazing and not too salty or overwhelming as some can be. The garlic Parmesan fries were crispy, garlicky and parmesany (haha) and the asparagus was roasted to perfection. Overall, this special should become a regular menu item so I can come back next week and have it again!! Called in for a takeout. We used to go there and loved the food. I ordered two potroast sandwiches, mac and cheese, and onion soup. My husband picked up the food. The sandwiches came with a side. The good thing was that everything had plenty of cheese. The not so good part was that the food was salty and generic. Not the usual high standard they used to serve. 67.00 later, we threw out the soup, ate half our sandwich, and called it a day. Do not waste your money. Very disappointed. read more

We were there for dinner 2/27 about 5:45 and we were seated at table PR4 and Jordon F was our server. This was my second time there for a date night with my special lady. The first time was a great experience, good food, seated outside on a warm summer night it couldn't have been better. Last night certainly was not the same type of experience. As we both sat at the table waiting for drinks to come we both thought someone was smoking inside as there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke. As the minutes went by we kept smelling it and it was very strong. We ordered and just before the food came out I looked down on the table and on my napkin with the fork was a 1/2 smoked cigarette butt. That was the stench and it was disgusting. I picked up the fork and it was not clean there was still food on it. When Jordon returned we gave her the napkin with the butt and told her how disgusting it was and she replied that it was kinda gross. We didn't enjoy the dinner or the date night after that because if there was a cigarette butt on the napkin and dirty fork, to us that means the table probably wasn't even cleaned before and that's not acceptable. We had that skeevy feeling while eating after that. I wanted management to be aware of this as I am quite sure a business owner would not want this happening in their establishment. So we have one really good experience there and one really bad experience there. If we were to ever return again what should we expect that experience to be? read more

Oof. Friday night dinner so yes they were busy, but we really felt left behind. I don't know if our server thought that because my father-in-law is a regular she could neglect our table in favor of others or what it was. Know that if you sit outside on a nice evening, it's going to be LOUD. Many, many muscle cars, motorbikes, and motorcycles going by pretty constantly. Only received three menus when there were four of us, took a long time to get drinks, then took even longer to put in our food order. The food did come out quickly, but the server who brought it out to us was not our server and provided better service. At one point our server brought out drink refills unprompted, which was nice, but forgot mine and then took two asks to bring it for me. The only one who really enjoyed their meal was my father-in-law, who had a plain burger, no bun, with a side of fries. To be fair, the burger has to be pretty good to just be plain like that and be enjoyable, but they also still gave him lettuce and tomato, which he had asked to not have. My partner's burger was "just okay". The Dublin ($16) had short rib on top, but they said it was too dry and whatever "boom boom" is, there wasn't enough of it. Having bacon with it was almost too much meat, and they are never one to say such things. Since it was Friday, my partner's grandmother and I selected the fish fry. We both had it beer-battered, but know that they put cornmeal in their batter so it's not like the beer battering you're used to. Neither of us was a fan. It was a big piece of fish, though! The coleslaw wasn't flavorful and the tartar sauce was definitely from a bottle. We all agreed that they had skimped on the fries ("Jack fries", more like potato wedges) so the main dish to sides ratio was off. As I said, my partner's father-in-law is a regular, but I wouldn't be back outside of going with him if he wants to. read more

I wish I'd taken pics.... Let me start by saying I had the most exultant Rueben I've ever had on St. Patrick's Day 2021 here. I'd been craving it ever since, but it's a solid 25 min drive to this restaurant , which as you know , in the general Rochester area , becomes believed to be a *really* long drive. So it's Sept 2023- I was served the worst Reuben sandwich I've ever had and paid the most for it. $18, plus the waitress charged me an extra $1 for sauerkraut when I asked for it, because it was non-existent on the uninspired, anemic, dry, crushingly disappointing thing that arrived in my plate. I am absolutely stunned this place stays in business. I can't imagine that the rest of the menu is inspired. Definitely will never go back. Ever. read more

Enjoyed a night out with a party of 7 here. I shared a nice sized fish fry with my daughter. Our other child had a burger--it was a bit undercooked. The side of macaroni and cheese was huge. This is my second time eating at this place. The first time I had a fish fry because a lot of people told me it was good. And it was good but I definitely had better. This time they had weekend specials and I ordered the Guinness beef stew which comes over egg noodles. The waitress told me that's her favorite. Now by the name of this you would think, "this is going to have a lot of flavor, since Guinness alone is a very strong beer".. NOPE!!!!! Zero Flavor!!! So disappointing. I put a ton of salt, pepper and grated cheese and I still felt like it needed more. I didn't even taste any Guinness in it. The 2 stars are for the place. It was very cool.
