Purchased a 23 Silverado from these guys for 38k. Within a couple weeks the trans was making a whining noise coming from the pan. I brought it back under the 3 month 3k in house warranty that they offer. I was initially told that they could hear "some" noises and they were leaning towards a Transmission pump. Said they would call me by the end of the work day, no call. Next morning, I called and they said everything was good to go and they changed the tranny fluid and the noise went away. I told them changing the fluid was just a temporary fix, and they needed to address the real issue. They insisted that the TSB out on that vehicle suggested changing trans fluid and see what it does. From what I can tell the TSB said to drop the pan as well and Inspect for shavings or damage as well. This was not done. Instead, they sent me home with a measly 1k miles more on my warranty. Needless to say, I'm 500 miles over thier 1k extension and my trans is whining again. They also said they would get me a deal on a serpentine belt and idler pulley that was going out. When I got the estimate it was 287 dollars without tax. Parts are 120 bucks. I dont see any kind of a "deal" there. The last thing I would like to address is this company promps google 5 star reviews "asks customers to leave reviews" I'm sure like in all the other 1 star reviews they will put this all on the customer. read more

worst place to buy a car will never go back to them. bought a 2018 gmc 1500 with 88k miles and 300 miles before their 3k mile warranty check engine light started flashing (was 325miles from home). Called them (on a Saturday) and talked to the sales side and was told to bring it in first thing Monday morning And they would still fix it under their warranty. Get there Monday morning and was told they couldn't look at it for 2 weeks and that it's now out of warranty and they can't do anything about it. Got it looked at and ended up being both low and high pressure fuel pumps. Contacted them and they said that it's out of the 3k warranty so it's not their issue anymore. Then not 500 miles later pickup starts throwing codes again And this time it's an ecm and engine harness. Got that repaired and then it was transmission issues and was then when I asked if they knew anything before I purchased the pickup and he was really quick(too quick probably) to answer with a firm NO. went in and found the ecm had been calibrated at 87k miles and codes threw at 3k miles exactly from when it was altered. Believe they knew the pickup had issues and instead of fixing it they programmed it out and sold it. FO NOT BUY FROM THEM THEY WILL FIND ANY WAY IN THEIR POWER TO F**K YOU OVER. read more

I have recently purchased a vehicle from Frankman and here is how my experience was. The salesman I had was fairly friendly, he wasn't too pushy overall like a typical car salesman. I found a vehicle I liked online, went in the morning to test drive, then I wasn't sure if I wanted it so I left for lunch to think it over. He let me drive the vehicle to and from lunch. Upon returning from lunch I tried to negotiate on pricing of the vehicle. He did not budge claiming they had the lowest price on this kind of vehicle in a 200 mile radius. A little annoying that he was not willing to negotiate at all but understandable I guess. I had a relatively pleasant time overall with the salesman. The annoying part of my visit was with the finance department there. I knew I needed to finance but wasn't sure if I wanted to go through the dealership or through my bank. Originally the finance man tried to sell me on a 15% interest rate. After discussion he said he could get me down to a 10% interest rate if I threw in a pretty hefty down payment. Still fairly absurd. He stated that right now interest rates are high and since this was my first vehicle I have purchase the interest rate wasn't going to be lower anywhere else. He also said that most people my age do not buy expensive vehicles, which is not true and was a little insulting as I know what I can afford and I know many people my age who are buying more expensive cars. I informed the financier and the salesman that I wanted the vehicle but not for that interest rate. I checked with my local bank and was able to get a 7% interest rate (on my own -- no co-signer). I ended up financing through them to buy the vehicle from frankman. Frankman has a "deal" where they take $1000 off the vehicle if you finance through them. Upfront that seems like a good deal but if you can find an interest rate 1% lower anywhere else I'd suggest going with the lower interest rate. If your vehicle is 30,000+ dollars, you can make up that $1000 off in 4 years. Another "deal" Frankman offers is a protection plan for $2200. This is an optional plan which last I believe for 5 years and covers a lot of potentially vehicle problems like cracked windshield, patching tires, etc. Before you buy this deal I would check with your insurance company as a lot of that protection could be covered and you don't need to waste your money on double protection. Overall I had a fairly average experience at Frankman. I tried to get a full tank of gas in my vehicle before I drove it off the lot but my salesman said he wasn't allowed to do that. I would say I didn't get a great deal here but I also wasn't screwed over. As I said earlier, the experience was fairly average and a little underwhelming. I can't say I will recommend Frankman to people but I also won't be deferring people away from there either. read more

STOP, DO NOT BUY FROM FRANKMAN AUTO BEFORE READING THIS: I recently purchased a used car from Kevin Frankman, owner of Frankman Auto, and I want everyone to know that I was sold a car that had multiple issues. I had seen this car advertised on Hemmings and it was a purchase for my son. I talked Kevin Frankman to discuss the car. I asked if there were any mechanical issues, any leaks, any cracks in the dashboard, etc. He replied the car was is excellent condition and the only issue was the front right bumper with some damage. I purchased the car in good faith and trust knowing I had talked to him a few times about the car and the safety requirements for my son. After receiving the car, it has multiple issues: 1. The tires were from 2005 and rotting 2. The coolant is leaking 3. Power steering is leaking 4. AC does not work 5. Back tail lights all cracked and damaged 6. Dashboard is cracked in multiple places 7. Smaller issues around tubing, gaskets, etc. These are just a few items. His response was nothing more than, this is an older car and expected to have wear and tear. All these repairs are now totalling over $7000. I was trying to be amicable and asked him to either buy back the car or fix the damages so it is safe to drive for my son. He does not want to do this. So now I want everyone to know what type of situation I find myself in and for everyone to be AWARE it could happen to you. I will continue to inform others of my experience and hope you all learn for my mistake of trusting a used car dealer. read more

I recently bought a used car from Frankman's and the process was the easiest I've ever experienced. I started my used car search around Sioux Falls a few weeks ago and spent a few days looking around and my visit to Frankman was refreshing. The atmosphere was very low pressure and I had a nice visit with their sales team. I felt like they really listened and understood what I was looking for. Their website is so easy to use and a great tool for getting payment estimates. Everyone was upfront about credit factors, trade-ins, any fees, and fully disclosed everything. They went over a few options and even offered to let me bring a car seat and try a few out. I was so comfortable that they didn't pressure I spent a another few weeks looking and when we finally found something we liked we went back and bought. It was quick and easy. I've had a few friends that have been here and liked it, and I can see why. We were treated wonderfully and would gladly buy again. read more

I would at least expect nothing valuable and poor customer service instead of being let down. Which is where I find myself now after purchasing a truck from these guys. They don't care about you or your return business. They spend tons of money on Google to keep a false sense of good reviews. It's because of this experience thar I will no longer use Google to find places to do my business. Frankmans treated me so poorly that they not only lost any chance of my return business. The Google review I just wrote for frankman At first my experience was great. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. However when I went in to talk pricing with the salesman it didn't go very well. I had come in after work in my work clothes with my daughter. I had a dress on that day. When I was sitting in his office he walked past me, saw the tattoo on my leg and actually touched my bare leg. Then later he thought it was ok to massage my shoulders. It was very uncomfortable. After I left the salesmen text me from his personal phone saying "So a long deep message and we have a deal?". The next day I called asking for the manager, we told him about the incident and he asked if I was still interested in buying the car, because it was still there. I said yes but I dont want to deal with that salesman. He stated he would call me back because they haven't really dealt with this sort of thing before. He didn't call back. When we called back he defended the salesmen, stating he meant he'd buy a gift certificate and told me they sold the car to someone else. I was extremely disappointed. I bought a used a car that I thought was a great deal with low mileage. I had it one day when It wouldn't start. I had it jumpstarted and it ran for a little while that day, I parked it and a few hours later it wouldn't start. An attempted jump the next day, but it wouldn't start at all. I had to have it towed back to Frankman for repair. I got a call the next day. He said that "whoever jumped it the first time fried the entire electrical system" and it would cost me $1200.00 for repair. I had the car for ONE DAY. WARNING! I bought a boat from Franksman Motor Company several years ago. They claimed this boat was owned by Mr Frankman himself. I asked that I be allowed to get an mechanic inspection before I bought it. They refused. They (salesman and sales manager) were adamant that if there were any issues, they would take of it. Absolutely, they promised! I brought the boat home, and I could not get it to turn over. My boat dealer inspected it, ad could barely get it started. My dealer said bring it back as soon as possible Frankman refused to allow me it back. Basically, every time you restarted it, the engine oil would get flooded with water. Within a few minutes, the water in the oil was was above the dipstick. The boat could not run above an idle. The engine block was cracked. It took several boat mechanics to figure out how carefully the dealer had hidden the cracked engine block. When we took off the exhaust pipe, you could see someone had tried to patch the cracks in the cylinder heads. THIS IS FRAUD!!! We brought it back again with the report from the dealer that the engine block was cracked, and the obvious attempt to patch the cracks which were hidden when the exhaust pipes were in place. Frankman told me to get it off the property. Since the dealer owned this boat, there is not way they did not know this. The boat was completely inoperable, and needed a $3000 replacement engine. I have to assume a prior owner forgot to winterize it, and the engine block cracked when the water in the engine block froze. The owner/dealer then decided to try to patch the leaks with a steel epoxy glue, and dump the boat on an unsuspecting buyer. The engine was bad and they knew it, because it was the Frankman's boat. There is not possible way they did not know this engine was ruined. Frankman Motors knowingly defrauded me as a customer by telling me this boat was in good working order, and that they guaranteed this. South Dakota has no laws that protect the buyer in this situation. STAY AWAY FROM FRANKMAN MOTORS!!! read more

The sales manager was professional but unbending and completely taking the side of the salesman (who was untruthful in a big way for sure). Approached Frankman's as a seller looking to get rid of my sports car. After appraising the vehicle they came in $6 - $7k lower than private party NADA/KBB value. When I had decided to walk with my car, the purchaser (Dustin) promised that his offer would stand through the summer if i changed my mind. Fast forward 2 months after deciding the car was costing too much to keep around for the winter, I went back to take him up on his offer. The purchaser decided that his offer apparently would now not stand. It all worked out in the end as I found another buyer for the car the same day that paid more than he originally offered. Will not ever buy/sell a car through this company and will not suggest to anyone. read more

I went to Frankman Motors to look at a car that I found interesting. The price for the used car was higher than one of the same make at the dealers. I decided to talk with them anyway. The salesman we had been dealing with (Jesse) was great and I would highly recommend him to anyone, but the other man (didn't catch his name) who appraised our trade in and "dealt" with us was abhorrent. He told us there was an issue with the transmission of our trade in (which none of the three people who have recently driven the car have ever noticed, nor has it been brought up by the people we get to check our car FROM THE SAME BUSINESS) and therefore the value was less than half of normal trade-in price. Then he refused to debate the listed price of the car at all. We explained that the new cars were cheaper, and he simply informed us that the car being sold was a different kind (I double checked and it actually was Not different at all). We asked what the differences were between the two cars several times, and the only thing he mentioned were different wheels. When we were still unconvinced, he rudely told us that maybe we should go look at the dealers. It was one of the most absurd car buying ventures of my life, and I am definitely not recommending them to anyone. read more

It would die at stoplights, something would go wrong with it every month. The transmission went out. When I took the car in to Frankman with it's SEVERAL issues, like the transmission going out, to ask if they would stand by it, they told me I bought it as-is and would not stand by it. Not even a repair discount! They gave me only 200 dollars for my trade-in which was a much more reliable car. What a waste of several thousand dollars! Will never go back there again! I've had better luck from cars I bought from the salvage yards for three or four hundred dollars! Back in those days there was no lemon law on used cars so it was buyer beware. South Dakota generally has honest, trustworthy; friendly people, however not this place! I dont know how they stay in business! read more
