Took my Truck there found out the radiator had a leak. To put a new radiator in they wanted $1200+. The radiator cost $230. I put it in myself took me two hours and I don't even have all the right tools or knowledge like they would.. Also asked about replacing my heater core hose. I ran over a pipe in the road and was leaking fuel. I tow the car to Christian Brothers in NBTX and they give me a $2,750 bill with the bulk of the cost on parts. I asked them if I bought OEM and if they would do the work, but they declined. They made me tow the car elsewhere. I go to GM's official website to find the parts for a third of the price then CBs and reach out to Frank's Auto Body. Jason called me the next day, cheaper labor than the quote I got from CBs, and ready to do the work ASAP. I've driven the vehicle for over a month now, no issues, just perfect. I spoke with the mechanic who did the work and he was excellent in helping me understand the repair process. I would recommend this company to anyone, It was just a great experience and I don't feel like I was taken advantage of during a difficult time. read more

You could take a brand new perfectly working car in and they'd somehow find a way to give you a 1600 dollar quote. Took my car to this place twice (don't ask me why I went back I do not know) and the first time they just charged me way too much for the job and charged those stupid 150$ diagnostic fees. The second time I took my car into them for a transmission flush and oil change. They told me to come in like a week after I called them early in the morning yet they didn't even work on it for another week. They said "oh you're having problems ok then we're going to have to charge you 150$ for a diagnostic" no it ended up being the transmission fluid but it took a week of them not even looking at it to tell me that *while they had my car* and then at the end they told me "oops we don't even have the tool for this job". One google search found that you can use a 24 mm socket and u joint and don't need the special tool from the dealership. Also one of the guys at the front desk is a complete douchebag and treats you like you are a mentally challenged five year old when he explains the service (and usually why they need to charge you a thousand dollars). Please if you need work done in New Braunfels just shop around a little longer and find somewhere else that will do it faster, cheaper, and treat you way better! read more

BEWARE! DO NOT USE FRANKS AUTOMOTIVE, THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND DO NOT RUN AN HONEST BUSINESS! Took our Nissan Murano into Frank's because of a run in with a deer that destroyed the front end of our vehicle. It took them almost two weeks to even complete the repairs. They pushed the date back and didn't tell us even though we told them we lived an hour away and needed to know if we should come to pick up the car or not. So strike one. Once we got the car home I noticed the small pop open compartment in the center console was broken and the driver side heated/cooled seat was not working (light won't even turn on). We called and they said oh sure bring it in and we'll check it out. We triple checked the time we should bring it in as again, we live an hour away and wanted to make sure we could get it taken care of. Once we got there the receptionist was extremely rude. She immediately said "ok let me take a look to see what YOU broke" and rolled her eyes. She pulled a few fuses and then decided that it wasn't her problem. She googled for a minute and said oh it's probably just a Nissan thing. We told her no, it was 100% working when we brought it to you (it was super cold when we brought it in, literally had the seat warmer on as we brought it to the shop). She continued to argue and said she wouldn't even have one of their mechanics look at it because they would charge us $700 to fix it? And she said the other guy who could look at it was out at lunch for the next hour and a half. I asked why they told us to bring it in at that time if the guy who would look at it was out at lunch? She just rolled her eyes again and said well I'm here aren't I? Fat lotta good that did us. So now I've taken a whole day off of work and driven 2 hrs for absolutely nothing to be done about the damage they caused to my vehicle. They wouldn't even look at it even though they told me they would over the phone. Frank's Automotive will scam you and waste your time. Avoid at all costs! read more

My mother in law has always brought her car to Frank's. Unfortunately I have not had good experience with them. The 1st time was when I used them for collision repair. I had been rear ended on the highway, so the trunk would not open. Brought the car to Frank's . A week later I pick up my car drive off and then find out.... the trunk won't open. Bring the car back and the service guy starts messing with my gas cap like he's going to reach the trunk. After he rips something out of the gas area and tosses it in my car he says I need to leave the car to get it fixed,again. About a month ago I brought my mothers car since the speedometer was not showing on the electrical panel. $3500 later , the speedometer on the electrical panel still doesn't work, and then in front of the rear view mirror they left a panel open with the pieces on the seat. I was moving my mothers car and just discovered these repairs weren't done . They had the car for a week! Why such a crappy job. But they said she had all kinds of oil leaks( odd no oil ever on her driveway). I'm really angry at the lack of respect for a persons property and laziness to overlook a simple repair( which was the original reason we brought the car in). If Frank's can't do a simple repair , you have lost my trust in the ability to do a larger repair . All I can figure is (1)Frank's workers have A definite lack of pride In their work/ repairs or (2) some employee is really pissed about working here and just likes to F with peoples cars and Frank's reputation or(3) Frank's has no idea what they're doing. Or (4) Frank's just doesn't care.. All I can say is one of your employees is doing a great job making sure you don't get repeat customers. Of course I will be calling when they are open to get all of this fixed but it really messes up my day to take time off work and drop the car off and get time off on another day to pick it up before they close. A customer expects that a business completes the work you pay for .I can't remember the service guys name but he was very attentive, gave me updates and was always courteous. But unfortunately this memory of a good employee is overshadowed by the aggravation & inconvenience of having to bring my car back . read more

I have lived in New Braunfels for over 15 years and would always take my vehicles to Franks, and recommend them to everyone because I loved them so much. The last few times, not so much. I'm not sure if they changed their staff or what but it went from quality work to a money grab for this place. I had taken my car to Auto Zone and got a free diagnostic test because my check engine light was on, and it was missing around 2nd gear.. (didn't even know they did this!!) they told me that my cylinder 6 was misfiring.. So I take my car over to Franks to have the spark plugs replaced.. They told me I needed to get a more thorough diagnostic to make sure there was nothing more drastically wrong with my car. I was quoted fifty something for that.. my husband said sure.. for 50 bucks and some change.. why not I asked they to also check my blue tooth, clock and cigarette lighter while they had my car .. Several hours later, they had a quote for me.. around $1400!!! They recommended changing spark plugs ($27 dollars per spark plug!!), they casing around them, my throttle body, cleaning out something else, getting a tune up... I said... that's okay, I'll just come get my car, how much... he told me for the diagnostics it was $110.. I told him i was quoted 50 something... oh no Ma'am.. all of our diagnostics are the same price.. I asked about the other things they were supposed to check, didn't even check anything else I asked for.. well now it was closing time.. I went back to Auto Zone, they recommended for my car a spark plug that cost $10 bucks... I had my nephew change them with new casing.. It cost me a total of $60 bucks.. now my check engine light is off and my car runs like it is new... Franks, you might of gotten me for a wasted $110 dollars, but I will never take my business back to you everrrr!! and I will never recommend you to anyone!! so in the long run, ripping people off and telling they need things fixed that they don't has cost you money!! Terrible diagnosis on my car. Had it towed in due to brakes locking up and they convinced me I had to replace the struts for $ 1,700 to address the issue. Then they spent several weeks to no avail trying to figure out the issue and finally returned it to me in same condition. Took it to another shop and they immediately fixed it (calipers and master cylinder). I wrote a long complaint letter to the owner but never got a response. Best to avoid this one. read more

A heartfelt thank you to Frank's Automotive, and especially Service Advisor George Smith, for superlative service on April 14th. As a new and somewhat clueless resident of beautiful New Braunfels, I chose Frank's to repair an air conditioning problem on my high mileage, rough duty 2002 Lincoln. Why? Proximity and positive reviews on their website. I could not have been more pleased with the experience. Not only did they diagnose and resolve that issue expertly, they also performed diagnostics on the old vehicle's other parts and systems, giving me a heads up on potential issues with it. But the most delightful surprise was when I picked up my car, I discovered it had been given a thoroughly detailed cleaning, inside and out! Free of charge. Having seen a decade of continuous use as a catering company delivery car, a medical transport for my disabled mother and then an animal rescue ambulance, the interior was beyond distressed. Frank's restored it to respectability. They even dressed the tires. Service was cordial, concerned, courteous and the fairly major repair was completed by the end of the same day. The price for all this was totally reasonable and fair. I recommend Frank's without any reservations whatsoever and will trust them again with my automotive needs. I have used Franks for body work on several cars I have owned, including one particularly hard hit. They do good work, but most importantly, they STAND BEHIND what they do. On any heavy body repair there are certain to be issues with the repair. Such as potential water leakage or possibly issues with color match after a few months. This is where Franks has stood out in my mind. They have addressed any issues that have cropped up after the repairs are done, no excuses, no complaints. While I would much prefer to not need the services of a Body Shop, I'm happy to be a customer of Franks. read more

I wasn't planning on leaving a review until I got a text from them asking me how my experience was, so here goes!; I came in with a 2014 BMW X3, was having trouble starting it, also I had hit a pothole and my car was driving awful. Was pleased after reading the reviews so I came here! WELL, where to start. I was given an estimate of things that needed to be done to get my car fixed, the total came out to about $2,599!!! after parts and labor, wondering how to pay this; I called my Insurance to make a claim. Insurance told me they would cover the cost, minus the battery. And that I'd have to take my car to a body shop at one of their Preapproved locations. Since I was at franks I decided to just get the battery done. Franks had told me to change the battery it would come out to $328...That night I got a complete breakdown of what I'd owe. $671!!!! to change a BATTERY!*gasp*.... when I called to ask why my price had changed from $328; they magically lowered it to around $400. At this point I told them not to worry about it I'd change the battery myself, plus I can get the same battery for $200 at autozone. My boyfriend had went to pick up the car for me and NO lights worked on the right side and was told the " headlight component " was out and was gonna cost $400+ To repair (When I had dropped my car off; I had a burnt out low beam on the right side, the rest of those lights worked great-I have since found out from the other body shop that Franks had UNPLUGGED the component!!). I then took my car to get the new battery put in and that only cost me $45 for install (at Clark's auto) when Franks charged me $118 for install!. I got my body work done at Caliber Collision, that only costed me a total of $409!!! for everything!!! Half of the things Franks automotive said needed to be "fixed" on my car was also FALSE! I've come here about 5 times, and generally they fix what I need. However, every time I get home there's a new issue. I've also had them argue with me saying there's nothing wrong with my car, but I had it towed there. The quick story is as follows. Our car was running rough, and we took it to Frank's Automotive in New Braunfels for diagnosis and repair. The work was "completed", and we paid well over $2,000. I didn't get three blocks from the shop when the car started giving me trouble, and I had to pull over. I limped back to the shop, where I was told I needed to purchase some additive from an auto parts store which may fix the problem. I was able to get about halfway there when the car just wouldn't go anymore and I had to have it towed home. The additive did not work. So to recap, I was given an unsafe car to drive home which either means: 1. They didn't test drive the vehicle before returning it to me. 2. They did test drive the vehicle, but didn't care. We have since reported them to AAA. I have to believe anywhere else would have done a better job. Don't make the same mistake I did. BTW, when we brought the car to the dealer for his inspection, he said that used, sub-standard and incorrect parts had been used in the repair. I'm not a car guy, so I can't verify that statement. This place is a joke. My regulator went out on my driver side door. Called them Thursday at 5pm and James quoted me $150 to fix it if it was the regulator or if it was off the tracks, $80 to get the window back on. Next day, I show up at 8am. Can't remember the guys name I dealt with. Told him what James had quoted me and he said he shouldnt have quoted me without my car being in front of them. The part alone from O'Reilys was under $100 but they charged me $208 for it. I understand they have to mark the price up but over a 100% mark up?! Ridiculous. Then they charged me $108 just for diagnostic that took 30 minutes and then $130 for the labor that took 45 minutes. Yes, I may be stupid for following through and paying it but it was Friday morning and I needed to get to work, and can't really roll around town and park places with no window! Do not go to this place, especially if you are a female. They will over charge you because you don't know any better, like I did. read more

DO NOT GO HERE I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE FOR ANY REASON THEY'RE SCAMMERS! I took my vehicle in for what I thought was minor connection issue from the battery to car. Franks said I needed to clean the whole battery area--they did so and charged me for that. Then proceeded to tell me it wasn't that but I needed to replace the starter. I authorized to do so and went to pick up my car and it still didn't start. They ordered another starter that was broken and finally third starter that was going to be brand new. Then had my car an extra 2.5 days which installing the first starter which was replaced in 1 day. I talked to multiple mechanic shops that said they charged me way over price for simple tests and services that weren't necessary for what was wrong. They cleaned the battery and that wasn't the issue charged me way over price and won't say our bad, that wasn't the issue we thought so we won't charge you and arm and a leg. Aaron the customer service guy is very pleasant, but beyond that don't go to these guys. With this issue I asked for higher authority to call and discuss which of course they had to go to frank---NEVER RECEIVED A CALL FROM ANYONE I HAD TO CALL BACK TO HEAR FRANK ISN'T GOING TO HELP ON THIS. Go to your small town mechanic. Help you figure it out without over charging you. They will cause more problems for you and your vehicle from before taking it in. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment time and the RUDE George Smith at the service advisor desk asked me when I made my appointment. I told him yesterday & I had a confirmation number. He said they don't even make appointments. He said they are 3 days behind & I would have to drop it off another day next week. Then in his next sentence he said they are a week behind. I told him in his last sentence he just said they were 3 days behind & now suddenly they are a week behind?? which one is it? He was on the phone, or pretending to be, & called another girl over to help me. She said they do not have appointments & I would have to drop it off & leave it. I asked her what time they open and she said we could be open as early as 7:30. She doesn't even know what time they open for her to be at work?!?! She also said they do not have complementary shuttle service. Then yet another lady came over & said we need to turn that online appointment thing off because it doesn't work anyway. Wonder how many people before me & after me have made appointments online to no avail. I'm sure I'm not the first & I'm sure I won't be the last. I have been there before & have even recommended them to several friends. Not anymore though. I will NEVER go back, and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone ever again! My first experience using Frank's was a positive one, which is why I decided to bring my vehicle back in following an accident last year. I was rear ended resulting in significant damage to trunk and rear panel. The interior of the trunk was exposed after the impact. The car was in the shop for just under a month undergoing numerous repairs. Now, since the accident, I have had to replace 6 tires and discovered multiple serious issues following service from Frank's. After requesting the service repair record, my current auto professional noticed an alignment had not been performed following the rear impact collision, which was likely the cause of the current issues. I have reached out questioning why an alignment was not done following a rear end collision, but was ultimately informed it was my neglect by not having an annual routine alignment and per their assessment tools, one was not necessary. The car is unsafe to drive and requiring thousands to repair. If you decide to take your vehicle to Frank's after A collision, be diligent in requesting that complete and accurate repairs have been performed before you leave. read more

I went back again after being told elsewhere it was something else which I knew it wasn't .Again the work was done Correctly and finished When they promised.
