My Lawnmower did not start 2 weeks ago. I called LOWES local store where I bought the mower (Troy-Bilt). I was informed by a store clerk to call Lowe's customer service, because The local store does not fix lawnmowers and carry parts. Then, I called The customer service. She was very helpful but did not solve my problem. Her answer was: we do not fix and carry parts, but she advised me to call Briggs and Stratton for help (the engine and other parts were made by Briggs and Stratton). I called Briggs and Stratton customer service. Unfortunately the customer service was in INDIA and he was not to help me either. He recommended a store/dealer close to my house base on my zip code. The store/dealer is 3 miles from my house. I called the store/ dealer and my problem was not solved talk talk and talk. I called Frank. He advise me to bring the Lawnmower to his shop. He was respectful, kind, honest and the repair cost was very fair. I Highly recommend frank to fix your Yard Tools. Brought my reliable Honda mower in after a botched attempt to replace difficult to install carburetor. Good news is it started. Bad news is it leaked gas. After another frustrating time trying to correct I finally called Frank's. 1 day later, my mower is working like the last time it worked in 2019 before it got stored for 2 years. My 20+ year old Honda Mi-T-M was not starting up with the normal 1-2 pulls. Having 3 technicians waiting gets expensive, so rather than trying to do it myself or be at the mercy of one of my workers trying to tune it, I spoke with Frank. He impressed me immediately and I dropped off the machine. I picked it up yesterday and I'm confident that it will perform like new, at which time I'll write a follow up review. I was very happy with Frank's shop. Nothing fancy about the shop - just great work. I called the shop and on phone I explained what was going on with my snow blower. Frank thought what it might be and quoted a price. I brought the snow blower in and he said he will call me in a few days. That night I got a call, the snow blower was done. Frank confirmed that what was wrong was what he suspected. The work done to the machine was no more than discussed on the phone. The price was no more than quoted on the phone. My lawnmower just stopped working even after replacing the spark plug. I wasn't sure if it could be fixed but I took it to Frank's and after a short evaluation Frank assured me it could once again 'be like new'. I've used Frank's services twice now and both experiences were better than I could have hoped for. The first time was last around 11/2013. I wanted to have my snow blower checked out because it did not start the year before. I was unhappy with another local place because of the price and time they took to repair my lawnmower in the spring of '13 so when my wife said she found another guy locally that had great reviews we figured we would go ahead and try it. It was great! I was able to bring it in to him that night and he had it all ready in less than a day. Not only did he tune it up he replaced some bolts that were missing and the thing performed like a champ during one of the coldest winters we have had that I can remember. So now when spring came around and my lawnmower stopped working in the middle of a mow (*just to note: I had paid $175 last year at a local shop to have them tune it and sharpen the blades and get it in working condition after sitting for 3 years) I didn't think twice but to bring it to Frank. When I got there and showed him what was happening he knew right away it was the carburetor. He asked if there was anything else I needed done to it and after I said no he said he could have it done that night (this was at 5:30 pm). Sure enough he gave me a call at 7:30 and said it was all ready to go. His prices are great as well compared to what I paid at other places for much less service. Thanks Frank. I used to take my lawnmower to Carol Stream Lawn & Power, and I wouldn't get it back for weeks, and their customer service was horrible, so the next time I need a belt and a tune up I went to Franks. I had my lawnmower back within a week. They always offer to help load the lawnmower into my truck (which Carol Stream Lawn & Power has never done) and their prices are very reasonable. Went to Frank's new shop just off of Lake St. and brought our lawnmower. Told him what it was doing and he said it sounded like a carburetor and if it was it tended to be about $90 for the parts and work. Said he didn't want to say too much till he got to look at it more closely though. Left my contact info and mower there, got a call back within 2 hours, was exactly what he thought, quoted price was honored and I was able to pick it up and mow the lawn that afternoon. Couldn't get my lawnmower to start and was over due for a tune up. I called Frank's and he got me in and out on the same day...(on a Sunday)!! Looking around this guy's garage you can tell this is a passion for him. He replaced the front tires, spark plug, air filter, oil and blade. I had snow blower that had a broken pull cord. I researched repair shops and chose Franks. He gave me a quote over the phone and I dropped it off at his shop. He took one look at the snow blower and asked if I ran it with the choke in that position all he time. I said yes, that is the only way it will start and run. He asked if it was smooth running I said no. He told me that the engine/carb should be cleaned out but it was up to me. There was no hard sell. He gave me a good price for the oil change, repair, and engine/carb cleaning. It was done in a day. He also showed me how to prevent future build up by removing a cleanout screw at the bottom of the carb. When I picked it up he was about to put it in my car and he noticed that the primer button had a big rip in the side and he said I needed to fix that or it will fail to start. He took it inside and fixed it while I waited at no charge. Frank was honest, followed through, and extremely helpful. His helper was also super polite and helpful. Gave free estimate when I brought it in and fixed it for that price. Nice to have a good local establishment that takes pride in their work. My lawnmower which is quite old stopped working last fall.
