I needed my riding mower repaired. After calling twice and leaving two voice mail messages, this company never called back.

I called Greg's about repairing a broken front-wheel drive cable on a Toro Recycler. I was told over the phone it could be repaired and that it was a simple fix. When I got the mower back nearly three weeks later, I was hit with a bill for $310 and change, more than half the cost of a new mower, same make and model. The bill included several miscellaneous charges that I never authorized. Nor was I ever contacted about whether I wanted those additional services performed. The additional charges: oil change, new spark plug, air filter, blade sharpening, and new wheels. When I take my car into be serviced for one problem and the mechanic finds an additional problem, I am contacted and asked whether I want the additional work performed, and I get a cost estimate. No assumptions are made about what I am willing to pay for. In this case, if I had known the total cost of the repairs to be done, I would've declined having them done and looked into a new mower. Granted, Greg's did reduce the bill by $50 after I expressed my displeasure with their lack of professionalism, but the repair costs are still slightly more than half the price of a new mower. When using Greg's be sure to get a cost estimate up front and spell out the work to be done.

After bringing my Toro snow blower to my regular service company (sorry, I don't feel comfortable…read morenaming), I was told that I had damaged the scrapper bar and it was too bad to fix. I took a chance and stopped in to Greg's for a second opinion. He shook my hand and said he'd have a look. He did look and said yep .. damaged the scrapper bar and the paddles but he could fix it. One day later his staff person calls to say it is done and they delivered to my home. Just in time for the next snow. Run's like new now. Thanks for saving me from tossing out a working blower!

Needing a Hyd Hose repair, my go to place Never a minute…read morewasted just get me up and running!!!!!

This is an update after my original visit to Pirtrek O'Hare from 6/14/2014 when the shop was closed…read moreduring business hours with no explanation. I received an email from the location owner apologizing for what happened, and I gave them another shot. I have a braided stainless steel high pressure EFI fuel hose for a motorcycle which does not have a quick-disconnect / dry-break coupler. This means any time I want to completely remove the tank on this bike, it must first be drained of fuel. This is tedious, time consuming, and inconvenient. I decided I'd like to fit a quick-disconnect coupler in-line on the fuel supply hose. So I turned to Pirtek. I was helped by Derek, the assistant manager. Derek was very polite and professional and went out of his way to help me source the proper hose fitting for my application - which Pirtek unfortunately does not stock. I returned after obtaining the materials needed, and Derek modified my line and fitted my fuel-rated dry-break coupler while I waited - which was only a matter of minutes. The end results look much more professional than what I could have done myself at home, and I'm much more confident in the machine-installed compression fittings holding up to the high pressure fuel feed than any DIY screw or click clamps. If I'm ever working on another project requiring fuel line modification or fabrication of custom brake or hydraulic clutch lines, I'll be sure to turn to them first.
