I booked a pick up for my riding lawn mower 2 weeks ago for Monday 5/19/2025 pickup. They charge me a reservation fee of $90. Monday 5/19 comes and goes and no pickup. I call and get placed on hold for 4 minutes then am told that they have no pick up for me. She'll transfer me to the other location. I ask if this is Itasca and oh, she finds my reservation as they changed there pick up schedule since I had called. Can I be available Tuesday for pickup? I gave her the times I have available and she tells me I will be the first pick up between 8-9AM. And they are a no show again. I call and she laughs, so I ask for a refund of my $90+ service fee, and she says she has to contact the driver and puts me on hold for another 4 minutes at which time I hang up. I call back again and now she needs my credit card to refund my $90 but didn't bother to call me to ask for it. This place is a sham. I have never worked with such unprofessional people. I'll be watching for the credit otherwise I'm contesting it on my charge card. read more

Can't say it was a really good experience. I called the Lisle location and ask them how much to tuneup my Toro Powerlight snowblower. It's an old 2 stroke. They told me about $150 over the phone. I paid them $45 up front for an inspection fee. In about three days they quoted me $350 for a carburetor and new impellers. I thought that was a little steep, so I picked it up and brought it home. I told them that spending $395 to repair an 15 year old snowblower didn't make any sense at all. I could buy a new one for about $500. I got online and bought a carburetor for $15 and the impellers for $35 from Amazon. I had already spent $45, so I thought if I could fix it for $50 it was worth a try. It took me about two hours to do the replacement. It was my first time doing the work, but I think I could get it down to about an hour the second time around as I would know exactly what I was doing. It started right up after I got the float bowl primed and seems to run as good as it ever did. I figure I saved myself about $150 an hour. Anyway, I don't think I'll be going back. read more

Anyone shopping tractor or mower & supplies, I'd stay away from Northwest Lawn & Power Equipment. Although I can say the owner and sales/employees were very nice, by far the worst customer service or communication I have ever seen in my life. Once I wrote a check for a new tractor, it was as if they could care less about their customer. I had to ask multiple times just to have an invoice emailed to me. Day of delivery... nothing. I had to call them in the evening to be told there was a flat tire on the trailer, and I was "on the list" to be called. The next day, delivery was 3 hours late. Kid delivering (although very nice) knew nothing about the tractor. He stated there was no flat tire the day before, they just had the wrong size trailer. He stated he has no idea why they lie to customers. Tractor was absolutely filthy and a ton of surface rust... it was never washed. Tractor had no gas. Only one key. No paperwork or warranty paperwork. Not only was it not cleaned, but when I went to wipe it down with basic cleaner, orange paint was coming off the tractor. They attempted to cover chips with an orange Rustoleum like paint.... but you cannot even bother to clean the tractor? Even when I asked, kid delivering was like uhh yeah this is a problem... I'll definitely say something and have someone call you. I received no response. On three separate days, I called and asked to speak to the owner and left messages with employees. No response. I reached back out to Sue in sales, who told me that this was completely unacceptable and would be fixed. She explained it was to be washed and gassed up, the delivery driver left the paperwork, and they do have the second key for me. She explained she would correct the issue. Three more days. Nothing. I text. She asks what days she can have it dropped off, and I explain I am off Friday. Four more days. Nothing. No call today. Like holy moly.... just go elsewhere and buy a tractor. It doesn't pay to be nice when there is absolutely 0 follow up. Almost 3 weeks since delivery I'm still waiting and don't even have an owner's manual or the second key. The sad part is, my expectation bar is pretty low. It's a tractor. It's gonna get dings and dents when being used. However, shouldn't have to keep begging for a second key, paperwork, etc. It should not be empty on gas when delivered. It shouldn't be filthy with paint coming off. It shouldn't have scratches or rips in the seat. read more

We selected NW Lawn due to their reviews we have read online. They were fast to respond, helpful, and will pick up and drop off your equipment from your house. We had just bought a house that came with a snowblower, so we wanted professionals to look it over since we knew nothing of how it had been maintained. They did a great job and explained the features and basic maintenance of the machine at drop off. Overall, their service is great but we did have to wait 5 weeks to get the blower back. I do recognize we ordered the service in peak season so that delay is expected. Only down part I can find, is that you have to wait for a day and time their pick up/drop off would come by your neighborhood. So you kind of work around their schedule and less around yours. read more

This place is a complete dishonest joke. This is an issue that I had on my Honda Lawnmower back in 2022. I should have posted it to warn people back then. I was having carburetor issues and the lawnmower but not running right. I brought is here to have it fixed. They replaced the carburetor and delivered it back to my house and it still did not run right. I had them pick it up again, they said they fixed it and delivered it back. Guess what, it did not run right again. The picked it up a total of 6 times in about 6 weeks and could not fix it correctly. Then they told me it probably needs a new engine. I told them to just deliver it back not knowing what to do. The cost of putting a brand new engine in it would not be worth it considering it was about 5 years old. This Honda lawnmower when I purchased it was about $850. a new one in 2022 was pushing $1000. I did go shopping for one but something told me to call a different repair place to see what they thought. I called Arlington Power Equipment (GREAT PLACE!).I had them pick it up and they ended up telling me that a knock of carburetor was put on and that was the reason it was not running right. This is what they said, I did just did a copy and paste. "Took fuel sample. Fuel is yellow, and does not smell fresh. (photo taken) Lots of dirt inside the gas tank. (photo taken) Spark plug is very black with carbon. (photo taken) Carburetor looks new, but is NOT an OEM Honda carburetor. It's a Chinese knock-off. The air guide gasket that is supposed to go behind the carburetor is missing, and a smaller gasket has been installed in it's place. The fuel line clamp has also been mangled and is no longer effective. (photos taken) Lots of dirt inside the carburetor bowl. (photos taken) Automatic choke thermowax pin has not been hitting the choke linkage in the right place. Photo shows it has been installed off center and has been pushing on the rubber seal instead of the linkage pin. Replaced carburetor with correct genuine Honda carb, and engine starts and runs well." I went back to their shop get to get my money back with the knock off carburetor in hand and they guy who runs the place still denied it. He lied to right to my face. Oh, but I did get my money back because I was not leaving with out it. Stay far away from this place! Call Arlington Power Equipment. You could not get anymore professional and honest than them. DO NOT TRUST THE GOOD REVIEWS!!! Looked around at various shops and this one seemed to have decent reviews. Brought in our push mower after it had been having some propel issues. Engine ran fine so it was probably a gearbox issue. We called and were told that they would be able to look at it quickly and get back to us in two days. After four days and no communication we called and were rudely told we need to be patient and they would try to look at the mower in the next 7 days. Complete bait and switch. After waiting another week without any communication we finally received a call from them. Suddenly, the mower needs an entire new engine. Of course after saying the engine is dead the guy goes into talking about the mowers we can buy from them instead. The person calling had basically no information besides that the engine was unsalvageable and was quite unhelpful. They apparently could not even get it started. For background the mower was used to cut the lawn perfectly fine without the self propel the morning we gave it to them and now it is completely broken. Not sure what they did to it but the pull cord sounds completely different now. Overall, the customer service at Northwest Lawn and Power is extremely lacking. The shop is very dirty and it took almost half an hour just to drop the mower off. Beware that the place sounds great when you call them the first time but don't expect much after that. If you have a working machine that's on the older side DO NOT bring it to them. Your engine will probably be suddenly completely broken once they're through with it. If you don't trust this review please read some of the other one star reviews. Additionally they claim on their website that they are bbb accredited. I took my Toro lawnmower in for repair as something had broken. They recommended I do a full tune-up along with the blade replacement and repair - total of $200. I went ahead and did the service. A few weeks later the lawn mower would not start. My neighbour took a look and found that the bowl (that houses the carburetor) was not cleaned. When i called them up they did not give me the time of day. I understand that they are really busy but that should not be an excuse for poor customer service. HORRIBLE! Don't go here!!!! I got RIPPED OFF BAD!!! Recently moved into a house where I'd need a riding lawnmower with bagger; a lot of trees and 2/3rd acre. Searched on Craigslist and came across one for sale by owner. Called, turned out was a dealer/store. Set appt for next morning. Went in, guy turned it on, drove it back and forth ten feet on the concrete, turned off. Asked $450, made offer, wouldn't budge. Paid $450. I went to pay via debit visa and he says Cash only. Paid $50 more to have it delivered. Delivery guy calls and says he's there, drops it off and leaves; wouldn't wait for me to get there. I get to the house and it's sitting in the front yard. I turn it on and as I'm driving to the back yard I lose steering. I turn it off, look everywhere and see the steering bar popped off a ball joint. I get a pair of big pliers and squeeze the rod back on the ball joint. Fixed. Few days goes by and it's time to cut the grass for the first time. Take it out, told only to use 93 octane gas so I fill it with only that. Half way cutting the grass the steering rod pops off the ball joint again. I get the pliers and squeeze it back on. 5 min goes by and it happens again. 15 min goes by and again. Very annoying. I'm also trying to use the bagging system but the mower won't suck up the cut grass. It's dry grass, not wet, and I'm not cutting it too short to clog. It just wont suck it into the bins. Now 5 min later I notice the grass I just cut is only half cut. Notice the blade on the right side is not turning. I get off, look at everything, no broken belts, but the blade on the right is not cutting grass. I continue to cut the rest of the grass with only one blade. But not before the next problem. The bagging system falls off the lawn mower! This is all happening the very 1st time using this lawnmower I just paid $450 Cash for As-Is and $50 for delivery. Where ever it was welded on(thought strange) it broke the weld. There was no way to put it back on. It would have to be welded. I'm furious at this point. I am so pissed what just happened I didn't want to call Northwest Lawn as I thought I'm going to punch them through the phone. And I kept remembering 'as-is.' The older guy there said they were selling it on consignment so there's absolutely nothing that can be done. I literally just got ripped off! Literally! I called Sears Service to check out the lawn mower. They service Craftsman. He checks it out and wants $300 in addition to the $95 service call. And this is not touching the bagging system. He ways it needs a new steering rod system and a new set up to make both blades cut at the same time. He looks in his system and says the bagging system doesn't even go with this lawn mower. He says the seller spot welded it on to put on this mower. He also shows me how the hole off the deck where it shoots the grass was cut and metal spot welded on to the size of the shoot to collect grass. He says it's not sucking grass because the original hole is now half the size and is too small to work. AGGH!!!! I tell the guy thank you, pay the service fee, and pass on fixing it. I am livid!!! I realize I am either just going to have to buy a NEW riding lawn mower and spend crazy money, hire a lawn service, or figure something out. I go back to craigslist and come across a guy who buys/sells/repairs riding lawn mowers in Lombard on the side. I tell him my story and set a time to go see a used mower he has for sale. He demo's the mower, all the features, options, procedures, everything. He offers to deliver it for free. Got a fair price too. When he delivers the mower he checks out the piece of shit I just bought. He tells me how wrong it was for Northwest Lawn to pull these antics but goes on to tell me they're known for shady business. Lovely. He shows how the bagging system doesn't even work/fit/not belong to this mower, how the spot weld to mount it was horrible, how the shoot opening was spot welded and the hold cut to half the size. The wheels on the mower are the wrong size, the frame has a sizeable bend, the blade issue, the steering issue, on and on. He was getting as mad as me. Kept saying how wrong it was for Northwest Lawn to sell it like this. He repairs mowers but said this one was so bad it doesn't want to take on this project. He said the best bet would be I try selling all the parts off the mower separately; wheels, engine, etc. Told him I don't have the time and to just make an offer. He made an offer and hauled it away. As he did the steering rod kept popping off. He texted me the next day stating he didn't want the project of such a bad lawn mower so he just sold it cheap to a guy for parts. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM "Northwest Lawn & Power Equipment." HORRIBLE Experience! And if they rebut stating they would have fixed it...Liars! Remember 'as-is/consignment from their employee?' I won't go into the 4 times for same repair of a Nightmare JD tractor they couldn't fix. They kept it for 2 months, out in the weather. I thought the hired help answering the phone was the problem. I traded in the JD for a Toro TS Zero turn. The deal was fare enough. Fantastic tractor. Though the manual was in it's plastic cover, it was mangled and soaking wet. I thought nothing of it, at the time. That was a year ago. Now I wanted it tuned-up. They quoted 2 weeks turn around. I said I'll wait until winter, you have the whole season to do it, I need it in a week. Jon, the owner said he'd get it done and came and picked it up himself. Just before he left I said that I needed a Mulch Plug Cover, to cover the side opening on the deck. I asked him to order one but and specifically not to delay delivery waiting for it. A week goes by, I call, Eric says, "It's all ready to go, I don't have the figures for the receipt, I'll call you back." 4 hours later I call and Rosario says the same thing, it's done, I'll call you back. The next day I text and Jon tells me this and that we'll deliver it tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and goes. The next day, Jon says, "We're waiting for the mulch plug." So now he's had it 11 days and tells me he's deliver it when it comes in which will put him at the 2 weeks he wanted and 1 week over what I pleaded with him not to do! WTF?!!! kind of business is that?! I thought it was his help. It's him! He picks your machine up and he's in control! I imposed on my friend and picked it up myself. They never called me regarding the mulch plug. But I did tell him I wouldn't darken his doorstep again. His reply was, "You'll be pretty hard pressed to find a better service dealer than us!" The thing is, I wasn't looking for another place. I thought NW Lawn & Power was my go-to place. What an attitude. Think twice before you let them pick your tractor up for 'FREE'. You'll be stepping into Jon's Twilight Zone! If you have an old lawn mower or snow thrower that you're not sure if you should replace or repair, save some $$ and bring it to Northwest Lawn & Power. I have had 2 snow throwers and a lawn mower serviced by Northwest in the past few months and can't say enough about the great work and service from John and his guys. One of the machines I brought to them was a 13 year old Toro. To be honest, I had been eyeballing the new Toros for the past year and figured I would bite the bullet and buy a new one which cost $700. I received one of those neighborhood flyers and saw their add that advertised free pick-up and delivery and decided I would give Northwest Lawn & Power a try. They did a complete overhaul, replaced the scraper bar and the rubber sweepers, installed a new carburetor kit & spark plug and the old Toro runs like new! The total charge with pick up and delivery was just $220 and it was ready in less than two days. I figured they saved me $400 compared to buying a new snow thrower. My parents have a self-propelled Troybuilt snow thrower that hadn't been serviced in over a decade. The clutch mechanism was balky and never worked right and the engine ran rough. One of John's employees picked it up. They did a complete overhaul and delivered it to my parents home the next day. The total was $157. I will never bring my lawn mower or snow thrower to the local hardware store again. Northwest Lawn & Power specializes in small engine service and repair. Recently I took my mower in to be looked at by Johnny. After talking it over it sounded like I needed my carburetor cleaned. Being the beginning/height of the season, Johnny informed me he was running at about 8 days, not ideal but I needed a working mower and he was clearly THE guy. Johnny called me later the next day and said I needed a new filter as well but that it would be ready by the end of the day. Talk about "under promise and over deliver!" So I ordered a spindle for my rider. I went in picked the part up. When I was there I noticed some of the workers were not wearing masks. I was a bit uneasy. So I got home and got the wrong part. What I got was the housing instead of the spindle. I called to complain and was advised allegedly there was no such thing as a complete spindle assembly. I was advised I could bring the parts back and there was a 10 percent restocking fee. Really a 10 percent restocking fee for giving me the wrong part? So the experience just gets better. Then I come back to return the parts and imagine my surprise again when the employee was not wearing a mask. We are in a COVID-19 pandemic. When asked why he wasn't wearing a mask he proceeded to tell me it is his right nor to wear one. Ok so it is my right not to get COVID-19 from coming into your business. I was so alarmed I snapped the pictures. Never again will you get my business. They don't care about public safety and the customer service skills are horrible. Shame on you. read more

Northwest Engine Repair is a business I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy to. I decided to tuneup my Honda Generator and decided, since it has given me a number of years of reliable service running and saving me, I decided it was payback with giving it a total tuneup. Little did I know at 76 I could no longer get on the floor. With help, I loaded it in the back of my SUV and took it to Northwest Engine Repair in Itasca. The gentleman ( if you want to call him that) says right off the bat " Where did you get the parts from, Amazon!" I told him I got the parts from Honda and he quickly says " since they are your parts we cannot guarantee labor. Having been in auto repair for years I knew that walking in. Forward 3 1//2 weeks. I call them with my work order# and he comes to the phone and says " Well, you need a Cylinder head and head gasket , what did you do, put the Spark plug in sideways!!" "That alone will be over $200". Never having it tuned up I knew where this was heading. I paid to have them drop it off. The plug thread issue never existed, hence, it did not need a cylinder head or gasket . It was all a thin line of unbelievable Bull Shit The Original plug was sill in and it came out with ease and within a week, I had it running great. At 76 nothing much gets me angry including that episode. Just want to folks to know who you are dealing with. read more

SCAM ARTISTS!!!!! Watch your credit card charges! Booked a uhaul online and only add on I requested was 5 furniture pads. Was double charged the rental fee, they tacked on 10 furniture pads and a dolly when I received my email statement after drop off. Apparently I'm not the only person that they have tried to dupe as there are numerous reviews on uhaul.com about being overcharged and details manipulated. We'll see after a civil suit and a complaint to the Illinois Attorney General. Avoid this place at all costs! read more

The "owner" is very unprofessional. Don't think he's even certified to work on power equipment or has a business license to own the place. Doesn't have a computer to store clients information or a PRINTED paper receipt. He wrote it out on a piece of paper in pencil. When he went to open the cash register for change it only had pennies and twenties. I think any business should have a register full of ones, fives, tens, and all change. He wouldn't let my boyfriend load the mower in the trailer until he paid. CAUSE HE KNEW HE WAS OVERCHARGING HIM!!! For any of you reading this looking to see if this place is any good, I hope I saved you a trip cause this place doesn't deserve business.
