I recently took the refresher class to renew my concealed carry. I was not impressed. The material presented was minimal. The instructor did not present well. His language was offensive. I did not have the opportunity to do the written test as we needed to start shooting. I fired 50 rounds. 32 were in the center target, 3 short of the 35 needed. In front of the class the instructor announced, "you failed". Not once, but 3 times. I asked ,what can I do? Again he stated, "you failed." I asked if I could complete the written exam, his response was .."No". I was left hanging, embarrassed, and upset. I will not recommend your class to anyone. This is a great group of people! I've done some target shooting here several times and find it clean and orderly. The people there are very accommodating and always willing to help out. I was there Sunday for a CCW refresher class which we all know is ridiculous but the instructors for the class made it a little less painful and were really great to work with. I got there just after opening so I could get in a few rounds before class and spoke with a young lady behind the counter who was a pleasure to talk to and quite knowledgeable. As you all know, I love gun stores. This one is just East of Castle Rock in Elizabeth. It's in a really safe and nice area. Almost rural in nature. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. Downright chatty actually and I enjoyed it bro much. They have a great indoor shooting range that was being run by an older gentleman that simply could not have been more pleasant. The gun section was a little light but they said they had a really good weekend in retail sales and the selection works expand again very soon. They have all sorts of good ammunition and a wide variety of grains and calibers to choose from. The prices were a little better than the Denver metro area as well. I enjoyed shopping here and if I'm ever near it again, I will certainly stop in again. read more

My son and I visited Franktown Firearms recently to try out the indoor range. The staff was very welcoming and quickly confirming they had an opening for a walk-in (memberships are available, with members taking priority). I filled out the waiver, paid for an hour (very reasonable - $20 with my military discount), and we were led to the range. The range was clean, well maintained, and well ventilated. My son and I greatly enjoyed our first visit to Franktown Firearms and I believe this will be my new place to shoot. Parking was fine, the shop has ammo and targets for sale, you can borrow ear and eye protection (if you do not have your own), and I believe rental firearms are available. The instructors fail the students! Any quality instructor can train and work with students to get a CCW. Franktown firearms instructors are FAR from quality. They have the bottom of the barrel when it comes to female instructors. Our business will be done at DCF guns from now on, I'd suggest the same for everybody. In response, that instructor is an absolute joke! She tells the students to, "Look at the sights" and not the target. Now you've lost sight of the target. She has them hold their weapon wrong which causes the gun NOT to be in line with your arm. There were NO bathroom breaks, no water, no chairs for students to sit on while they were waiting to shoot. The class was scheduled for four hours, two in the classroom and two on the range. It went well past that because of incompetence. You wasted 45 minutes of their time trying to sell them some insurance plan, which only one person bought. Save that for people who might be interested AFTERWARDS! No chance at all we'll ever do business there, we'll be going to DCF guns! read more

Getting a firearm for home security had been a goal of mine for a long time now, & due to the state of the world, my husband & I were finally on the same page to make this happen. In researching shops, Franktown Firearms came up again & again not only with our neighbors but folks that live quite far out as THE place to shop & practice. Being less then 10 minutes from our house, it was a no brainer to pick this as our first stop. The first thing we did was sign up for a 2 person private training lesson at Franktown Firearms since I've only ever shot shotguns & my husband had no firearm experience so we wanted an intro to handguns. We planned for a 1 hr. class but our instructor Karen was so fantastic & the training so invaluable we opted to extend it. If you are buying your first gun I highly recommend this method of taking a private class & then shopping after. We got a primer on the basics as well as time at the shooting range so we felt much more prepared to shop for our handgun. Once Karen handed us over to the guys behind the sales desk, the great customer service did not end. Everyone was very helpful in offering their advice on where we should start for our needs & we walked away with a great firearm for our home defense needs. Late on the review, but I really appreciated the gentlemen who were in the shop when I stopped by. Was having issues with my beretta and the guy at the counter helped me take it apart and find the issue causing my fail to eject. Didn't even charge me, just wanted to help me get it back in good shape. Had a very wide selection of firearms to choose from, as well as ammo types for when I come back. I haven't been to a gun shooting range since 2022 this place is very neat, bathrooms clean and everyone is overall nice and educated. The old man that's in charge in the shooting range room gave me a head up's how to hold my pistol, thanks to him for paying attention to everyone in the room he's an amazing man for making sure everyone is safe! I would've given this place five stars before the last couple weeks. Two weeks ago we went to Franktown, mind you we go 2x week. We were first ones there on a Saturday morning and within 20 minutes there was 17 people in the shooting range. On the door it says they can't allow more than 10 people on range. Yet they allowed 17. the whole point that they are portraying they are following it, but trying to fit as many in for $$$$. I asked Dave what was going on he said he had no clue. Dave is awesome. We decided to leave because all 17 were packed in first 7 lanes, not even spread out. We tried to talk to the two guys at desk, shrugged shoulders, so we just asked for our IDs and left and planned to call the owner to discuss because we are there so much. The employee was like ha- yea I'll take care of it and I said if they weren't going to take it seriously I'd check in with TriCounty that I would like to speak with owner. That was discussion. We decided we can make our own decision if we are uncomfortable or not and have been back 2-3 times since. We even told Him it doesn't bother us I'm only one that wears mask, that's my choice. Today, we walk in and the owner pulls us aside and flat out says he doesn't care about the ordinance, he's protesting it, doesn't agree with it being important to but he will "allow us" to continue to shoot at the range. The owner tried to say the extra people snuck in. Oh ok. If that's common at your range, it's not managed well. The conversation was unnecessary since we had been back 3 times since, and we told him that. He turned this into a 10-15 min convo of him talking at us. so random and I told him he really didn't give a shit and just wanted our money. What was point of conversation, let us shoot if we are allowed to shoot. My husband agrees with him... and I'm immune compromised, we did our own research before we came back. but it was his whole demeanor about "allowing us to shoot" that we were like F off, we will spend our money elsewhere. He then proceeds to tell me all walks of life shoot at his range, like he shot with transvestites past week, he doesn't agree with it or believe in it, but will take your money. WTF!!! Makes me wonder how he feels about women and people of color. The power of greed and the almighty dollar. Douglas County Firearms is where we will be going. So you can take the $hit a month by losing our business. Thanks for making decision so easy. Update: Sean - whose trying to paint a different story? I'm sure you regret what you said in our conversation today. Unfortunately you can't take it back. I said - you don't give a shit about ordinance I said - what does that have to do with this conversation when he mentioned shooting with transgenders. I said I don't see the fucking point of this and I said I would spend my money elsewhere. I have never been disrespectful to Dave, the new check in guy or the ex military trainer that was going to train me. I have learned more from Dave than anyone in my life, and it will be a loss to not go to Franktown because of that. If we didn't come there all the time, were nice to staff, why did the check in guy not charge us for extra target, after we insisted on paying when we were there Thursday. Or the extra person on the lane a week ago.... oh that's right we are so rude to your staff. But your conversation today, It seems like someone is trying to CYA. You do whatever you need to do Sean. We know what happened and you can change it anyway you like, I just pray that you never feel the impact of losing someone to covid, it may change your mind on the ordinance. No pressure range, if you don't suck, they wont bother you, typical range rules (holster, etc) apply must qualify to utilize advanced techniques. Usually no wait for range use currently, that is certainly different on weekends however! They are now offering a variety of classes and are continuing to expand on such with training from a current Army Special Forces gentleman and other previous military trained personnel. Went shooting for our first time today - postponing our trip from when we first joined to be members online months ago. Holidays , Archery and such kept us away. It was a great atmosphere - especially love the fact that an employee is always inside the range at all times! Just adds a bit of comfort. Everyone that works there is super friendly & knowledgeable with every aspect! We always enjoy stopping buy & talking to the owner & crew. We tried out our new 9mm today - which was awesome. I only took one photo today - but as an FYI you can book a lane online and if it's important lane 1 was by the door and 10 to right....furthest from door. Also for members there are extended hours after 6pm till 10 or 12am some nights! Worth every penny if you live close by but work far away... so you can make it in without worrying about 9-5 shops/ranges. A+ in my book making realistic hours for the working folk. read more

I worked at a gun shop in the area and live in Parker. One of the fellows I worked with warned me that he felt the Franktown Firearms range was not managed safely. I decided to go check it out myself. I have been at the range 3 times in the last year and I shoot during the day so it has never been too busy and no issues to reoprt. However, the fourth and last time there (3/18) it was fairly crowded and I felt unsafe. Even though there are signs on each lane to uncase your firearms at the firing line I saw three people ignore this. One guy two lanes away had his AR out showing it off to a friend on the tables where you store your gear. The two fellows next to me had their guns out on the their tables with the barrels pointing in all directions. I had to dance around to keep from being pointed at. When one of the guys came off the range to this table with his gun in his hand, action closed and magazine inserted I was done and decided to leave. There was a women employee giving instructions on lane one and when I pointed this out her she didn't seem to care. As a matter of fact she made excuses for them and did nothing. I left and talked to the manager and he also did nothing after he said he was on his way in to the range. I know this because my brother was with me and he was still packing up to leave and I asked him if the manager came and taked to anyone. He said no. This is basic gun safety everyone must know and follow. This lack of safety managment is irrational. I just can't understand the cavalier attitude. There is no excuse for it. I have never been at a range where this is tolerated. I will not be back and I will tell everyone I can my experience. I hope they change their attitude before something trajic happens. read more

This is a great store for guns and ammo (even during the ammo shortage), and their staff dealing with these items are always super helpful. I haven't had the opportunity to use the shooting range yet but hear it's a good range. So this one star review goes straight to gunsmith, mike. I took an old side by side 12ga. to them on 10-3-2020 as the trigger wouldn't work all the time. The gun really has (had) only sentimental. I wasn't bothered with the time so much to get it repaired when after they got it apart and said it needed parts that they had ordered, apparently a trigger spring and something else "disintegrated", and were slow due to covid...love that excuse for everything but it was a legit reason for delay. I stopped by whenever I was in the area, 6 or 7 times, buying ammo, and checking on the status of my old double barrel. Mike informed me that he would contact me the next week with an update, at least three times which never happened. Once is a slip, three times makes someone a liar in my book. The last time I came in he just dropped his head when he saw me waiting like he was disgusted. This was on 1-15-21 so I asked for my gun back due to his unprofessionalism. Mike asked if I'd "give {him} an hour to get it back together" so I went up the road to a friends to wait where an hour later mike actually called (for the first time ever) to say he was having trouble getting it back together and if I could give him till tomorrow, 1-16-21. I wasn't available then so I went in Sunday 1--17-21 when the "smiths" don't work, and Nate was super helpful looking for me. Unfortunately I saw my gun on the back table still in pieces. I came back on Friday 1-22-21 to pick it up and they handed it back to me in TWENTY THREE (23) pieces! They informed me they didn't know how to get it back together! I did that when I was a kid...having extra stuff. They said they would call when the parts came in, but I don't know that they truly ordered anything. mike had a schematic with the 2 parts he said was needed, but the schematic was NOT the manufacture of the gun I had there, and still what are they expecting when they "don't know how to get it back together". Now I've taken it to a friend (not a "professional gunsmith") that is going to try to get it back together but he doesn't know how it came apart so it's legitimately difficult. Maybe I should turn liberal and lawyer up...but I can't lower myself to that so this novel of a review will have to suffice. Don't take your guns there for repair (or anything for the so called gunsmithing" if they mean anything to you! Got a similar story from a customer waiting for mike during one of my visits but that's not my issue to inform on. It's unfortunate with the rest of the store and staff being good, but you have that old adage of "one bad apple". read more

I have been to many firearm stores in the Denver metro area. I now however make the extra 20 minute drive to Franktown Firearms just South of Parker, Colorado. I go there because they have the best ammo prices and because they have the customer service, as well as the time to treat people right. They are very friendly and knowledgeable across all lines and types of self defense firearms and firearm safety. I ended up buying a gun that was right for me and my family. I am very satisfied with both the price and the gun. I even ended up taking my firearm safety class there to take the first step to earn my concealed weapons permit.
