Chalk this up to another great find with the help of Yelp reviews…read more I was looking for a new dentist in my neighborhood. I used to live downtown but was growing tired of spending more time going to/from the appointment than actually in the chair. So, of course, I turned to Yelp. In the last two weeks I have had the most thorough cleaning ever and two old sliver fillings replaced. I'm very, very happy with both. Here are some of the highlights: * They use the latest in technology. That's great. But, what makes it even better is that everything that is being done is explained thoroughly and you have the chance to answer questions before you begin. * To compliment excellent technique, each and every person in the office has a customer service focus. The place is almost like a spa. It is calm and everyone is working to ensure a positive experience. * To top it all off, Dr Murray called after the fillings work to make sure everything was going well and to make sure no further adjustments were needed. Excellent customer service and far too rare the modern age. Bottom line, I recommend this practice without reservation.

They respond in a timely fashion to calls and emails, and always put my needs as a patient first. This week I was able to get in IMMEDIATELY when a crown came loose - they made it happen and even stayed late. Finally, and most importantly, the dental work is excellent, modeling the best and most recent in dental product and procedure innovation. I HIGHLY recommend Tom Murry and his team to anyone on Chicago's north side looking for excellent dental care.

ORA Oral Surgery and Implant Studio - Patient Consultation/Exam Room for Oral Surgery

ORA Oral Surgery and Implant Studio

Toplines: Don't Walk, (Run) Away from ORA Surgery and Implant Studio…read moreI think most people would agree, negative Yelp reviews shouldn't be thrown around if you had one bad experience at a crappy pizza place or maybe a restaurant where you landed a server that was just having a bad day. On the other hand, dental work in general, but especially the process of getting a dental implant and all of the phases and costs that go along with it, merits warning for others that are about to go down this road. How did I choose ORA Surgery? It was recommended to me by my dentist, who I really love and who represents quite the opposite of my experience here. Having not a clue as to how many appointments and how much money and time this was going to take, I didn't second guess or do my due diligence. That's on me. All in, I spent a fortune (over $6,000) out of pocket over a process of (over 3 years now) on an implant that failed and now I'm starting from square one. That doesn't include all the money they made from billing insurance, which it seems they stopped doing altogether from what I was told on my last and final visit. I thought I was going crazy, but I have seen some of the other reviews now it looks like I'm not alone. 1) ORA is way overpriced and the whole point is profit - not well-being, not customer satisfaction. I have now had time to do comparisons on rates for procedures with other providers and these rates (apples-to-apples) are way above the norm. They push the "boutique, LEED-certified, green, sustainable" claptrap on you to distract you from terrible service, price and results 2) MY IMPLANT FAILED LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER PLACEMENT - literally fell out of my jaw while I was sleeping - after I reported this, THEY did not rush to get me in - I had to bug them (several times) to get back in 3) Once I was able to get back in I was met with nothing more than a shoulder shrug, a restatement of "how rare" implant failures are, and a not-so-subtle inference that it must have been something (I did) to make the failure happen 4) As of even a few months ago, I was having to call and BEG THEM to send over a treatment plan with estimates. Called, emailed twice, never received them 5) The staff is insufferable - my process was long enough to see the front desk turnover TWICE. Rude wouldn't be the correct word - you can tell they have had complaints because you can physically see them biting their tongue to stop themselves from unloading. CREDIT: There were a couple "back of the house" assistants that were kind, professional, and seemed to understand that some patients may ask questions about why a procedure or timeline was necessary 6) The disconnect between the front desk staff and the knowledge of financials (or even how to get an invoice) is so very suspicious, but I now realize it's probably the point. 7) Good luck with any insurance - if they do submit they will remind you that the insurance probably won't pay, you have to pay them in full NOW, and they will do so in a way that says "we are doing you a really big favor" 8) You WILL get nickel and dimed. There is a 2% charge on cards - EVEN DEBIT! I asked if I could go grab some cash to avoid this (because who carries that much cash?) and they acted as if I were shoplifting 9) The process WILL NOT be explained to you, and they will shuttle you in to do an x-ray/exam/some other arcane procedure, and the main point is they want to do it before you find out how much it is going to cost you or if it's even necessary 10) The general vibe of the experience: "You should be so lucky we are even going to see you, now please pay us and don't ask any questions" Steer clear of this one, and I am imploring those that are about to start the implant process - take some time to do comparative research, it's a huge investment of time and money, and if you miss, it's a big miss.

I have never given a Yelp review for anything ever. After my experience here, I do not know what…read moreother direction to take this. The first half of my experience was okay. Everyone was neutral. No one was nice, no one was rude, everyone was just meh. That's fine. I was sat down with who I believe to be Joan to discuss billing for my wisdom teeth removal. She informed me that insurance would cover 0% of my procedure and that $3,000 was owed before the surgery. Visibly upset, I reassured her that I was not upset with her and that I know she cannot do anything. I asked her what I can do. In an impatient and apathetic manner, she tells me to call my insurance and read them the codes on the sheet of paper I had just signed and ask them why they won't cover it. Cool, I'll do that. She brings me to the front and tells me I owe $120. For a copay? For what? Why wasn't I warned? Why didn't anyone tell me before or charge me before providing this service? I did not consent nor was I even close to aware of a possibility of a copay this large. While I am asking these questions, I'm being presented with dismissive comments. "This is just the way we do things here ma'am" etc. I told her I will not be paying out of pocket as I cannot afford to. I then ask for a copy of the paper that I signed that had the insurance codes written so I can take my business elsewhere. She tells me "No, you need to leave." After I mentioned that I have the right to own a copy of a document that I signed, she told me she would email it to me. I told her that I will wait until she emails it to leave. I call a family member in the waiting room expressing my sadness surrounding the situation-- this is a service I need and I cannot have done. The front desk worker, Jenessa, tells me, in a raised voice, that I need to leave and I cannot be in the building. After reiterating that I am a patient waiting for documents, she asked Joan to promptly send the document so I can leave the premises. After waiting for approximately 45 minutes, I asked Jenessa if printing the document would be easier or faster. She told me the situation was none of her business and to ask Joan. Joan explained that I was not a priority patient and she had more important work to do. As I was walking away, I (I think rightfully) expressed that there are multiple workers capable of sending me what I need. Jenessa then continued to raise her voice at me repeatedly. I told her the matter did not concern her. After waiting another 20 minutes for my document, I, with tears in my eyes, told Joan that person to person this is an extremely important document. It will allow me to receive an important surgery and I would appreciate if she would send it to me. I told her I would be leaving and I trust that she will. While walking out, Jenessa, the front desk worker, was laughing at my emotion and vulnerability. I peeked around a corner to look. She then proceeded to SCREAM profanities. I was speechless. She began to stand up, walk over to me, and scream as if she wanted to physically harm me. Her coworkers had to physically restrain her. I immediately left the premises. Not only did Ora leave me with surprise charges, their desk workers met me with no empathy, patience, or compassion. They brought hostility and aggression (physical and verbal). I think Ora needs to have some serious improvement when it comes to their financial transparency as well as their hiring process. The receptionist at my oral surgeon office should not attempt to physically assault me. I did get the document via email.

I asked the assistant who it was and she stated it was the manager. I was also given conflicting information about rescheduling, first told I had 24 hours, then told it was four days. When I asked to speak with the manager, she did not return my call until the next day. When we finally spoke, I tried to calmly explain the situation and find a solution, but she repeatedly interrupted me. Instead of helping me resolve the issue, she repeatedly interrupted me and talked over me. When I asked her to let me finish, she called me "aggressive" and refused to continue treating me. I repeatedly asked what I had done that was aggressive, but she could not give me an answer. As a person of color, being labeled "aggressive" while simply advocating for myself was extremely concerning. Asking clarification questions is not being aggressive. I had to call a few times due to the terrible service in my office. When talking with the host prior to this, our calls were disconnected due to service at my job.Kat/Cat the manager stated that calling back to continue the dropped call was harassing them. I left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable with how I was treated. I would not recommend this location, under the management of Cat/Kat especially to other people of color.

I had to follow up myself. When I eventually spoke with a manager, I was told there was no warranty or coverage available because "services had already been rendered." I understand dental work can fail, but a crown coming out in under a year is unacceptable, especially after I contacted another dentist, who confirmed that many practices stand behind this type of work for at least the first year. The lack of accountability and dismissive response were just as disappointing as the failed crown. I strongly encourage anyone considering major dental work here to think twice and get a second opinion.
