This place is awesome. I stumbled in about a year and a half ago and haven't stopped going back since. They always say hi and bye as you come and go, and the studio really makes you feel wanted, welcome, and like a happy family. Everyone is extremely kind, gentle, and happy. The typical pace for their classes is about 3-4 moves in a group class, but they always try to make sure no one gets left behind. I made it past 60 years without ever dancing and decided to step outside my comfort zone and just go for it. I went in shaking and sweating and wasn't sure that I would be able to go through with it. I was lucky enough to get Edith Gomez as my instructor. She was knowledgeable, patient and very supportive. Most importantly, Edith had a lot of confidence in me. We started with very basic steps and slowly added from there. That first lesson was one of the best things I ever did for myself. I left still shaking, and even more sweaty, but I was proud of myself. I really looked forward to my second lesson and went in with a lot of confidence, not that I could dance yet, but that I was now comfortable learning to dance. I can't describe what happened to me in the second lesson, how excited I was or how great I felt. I actually went out that night and danced with several women that I didn't know. My husband and I decided to give the Fred Astaire Dance Studio a whirl when we came across their Groupon offer for two discounted private lessons. We took our lessons with Noe, who taught us the beginner basics for the waltz per our request. Noe was friendly, enthusiastic, and patient. He had a wonderful way of putting us at ease and taking us through the steps. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, even my husband who previously dreaded the mere thought of dancing because he was convinced he had two left feet, couldn't hide his smile and genuine enjoyment during our lesson. Afterward, Hunter (the studio owner, and also an energetic and skilled instructor) explained what our pricing options would be for future private lessons, if we chose to continue, and how we'd be privy to group classes, which are taught on a frequent basis and cover all manner of dance styles (waltz, foxtrot, tango, cha cha, salsa, rumba, merengue, bachata, samba, swing) at beginner and intermediate levels, where group classes are available free of charge, so long as you take at least one private lesson per month, which is super reasonable and certainly sets this studio apart from many others. Given the options and based on our terrific first experience, we decided to go for it. We've now taken private lessons at Fred Astaire with Noe and Sam, who is also extremely personable, funny, and amazing at breaking down the steps. We've come to know and appreciate all of the other dance instructors as well (Diana, Elly, Brianna) who we've worked with during group classes. FIRST DANCE AS HUSBAND & WIFE My husband & I were lucky enough to have Hunter as our dance instructor. Though we were hesitant about dance lessons at first, Hunter put us at ease. My wife and I took lessons at Fred Astaire prior to our wedding a few months ago. Despite our lack of dance of experience, our instructor created a curriculum for us to learn a Foxy dance and a Viennese Waltz within a two month timeframe, both of which we danced on our wedding night to two of our favorite songs. Our dances turned out to be magnificent and were a breathtaking surprise for our guests who had no idea that we could dance so well. We had such a terrific experience with Hunter and his team that we even hired them to do a mini-performance of three songs at our wedding and afterwards to dance with our cherished guests. When we returned from our honeymoon, we decided that we wanted to continue dancing at Fred Astaire, and have been taking lessons 1-2 per week for the past three months. Under the tutelage of Hunter and his team, we have discovered a new hobby that we plan to continue for years to come. Additionally, the customer service and flexibility of the instructors is exceptional. Our instructors have always ensured that we are satisfied with the lessons. They also understand that we are busy professionals with a sometimes erratic schedule: if we are ever 10-15 minutes late because of traffic or a work meeting that went longer than expected, our instructors are not "clock watchers" and will give us our full time as long as they do not have another student after us; they will also allow us to reschedule our lessons if an unexpected meeting comes up that we must attend. I've been dancing at this studio for little over a year now and I can honestly say I have no complaints. I've read some of the past negative reviews and i understand some of their complaints but there are always two sides to any story. When you walk in the door the staff are all happy to greet you and make you feel welcome. Sure it might be a bit much for some people(negative reviews) but would you rather have it be the complete opposite? I get it but in my opinion it's not that big of a deal to not return. Elly has been my teacher from the beginning and she has been nothing but wonderful. I would recommend her if you want to learn the art of dance and do it right the first time. She isn't afraid to test your capabilities and she also has a good sense when your cup is getting full and changes course with your lesson. All of the instructors are great at their job and definitely care about improving your quality of life through dance. This has been a long review but I believe this studio to be more than worth my time. I read some reviews regarding the studio being money grabbers. I can say that I've never seen any of the employees try and hustle you to buy more lessons. Sure they'll ask you because private lessons is how you are going to improve much faster. Why wouldn't they? They are teachers and all teachers deserve to get paid to teach. If you want to learn anything the majority of the time it costs money so if that's a surprise to you then you need a reality check. If you want to learn how to dance well and learn to be confident social dancing then I would highly recommend this studio. It was so much fun we've kept coming back, tue group classes are great because you get to dance with other dance partners to figure out how to move with different people, which is always a plus at weddings when you are asked to dance with the mother of the bride or something. My wife and I have been taking private lessons from Hunter and he is a fantastic instructor! He is able to adjust the dances to your skill level and is very patient, encouraging, and motivating. He really cares about your growth and development and the classes are very customized so that you're comfortable and having fun. It's because Hunter is able to make you feel comfortable and learn because he's a great at explaining and very patient. We learned out first dance wedding choreography with Hunter and he is a wonderful instructor. It took us approximately 3 months to learn and clean up a choreography (Viennese waltz) that we found online and wanted to learn for our first dance. This was about 14-15 lessons; we started first with a Groupon voucher which I highly recommend getting if you want to just get your toes wet or test the waters to see if you like this studio. We are very happy with our progress and result. We also got to showcase our dance near our wedding date sort of like a rehearsal for our wedding. Hunter, as well as the rest of the instructors/staff (Tina) at the studio, always greets us with a lot of energy and they have a very welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging culture in general. My fiance and I purchased a private dance lesson to learn a few steps and turns to our wedding song. They started off teaching us a basic step. We got about 45 minutes into our hour and a half lesson and we politely asked if they could teach us a few turns out of that step. They said, "No. The turns are intellectual property and they would absolutely not teach it to us, until our foundation was better." We made it clear that we weren't too concerned about our frame or foundation, but wanted to have a a few moves so we could better enjoy dancing to our wedding song. They absolutely would not budge and said we needed to pay for more lessons if we wanted to learn turns. Straight money grab. We were not there to become professionals, but just to learn a few things. My fiance and I went here to inquire about learning a dance for our wedding. We DID NOT enjoy the experience. Everyone was so overly friendly and energetic I thought they might be on drugs. After the 10 minute mini-lesson so the instructor could see what level we were and how many lessons we needed, we were shuffled off into a small back room, and the top dog sales person was brought in to tell us that we needed their very expensive "customized" package which they clearly offer to all beginners. Been here for quite a while. The staff is always upbeat and professional. With regards to another review, would you rather be at a place where the staff wasn't energetic or excited about that they do? This isn't a cheap place. There are other studios that are cheaper. But what you get is the family atmosphere that can't really be found anywhere else. If you want to go to a studio where you can get in and get out and learn a little dance but don't want to pay a lot, you might want to go elsewhere. If you want to be taught by staff that consistently go to competitions to improve themselves, and they are excited about their craft, this is the place for you. read more

I've been dancing with Hunter for almost 3 years now, and have loved every minute of my experience with this studio. Hunter's been an excellent teacher, competition partner and friend, and has helped me go further in my dance journey than I ever thought possible. I've been coming here for almost 3 years now and I have loved it since the first day. This is one place "where everybody knows your name" from practically the first day. The staff could not be friendlier and easy to get along with. You can tell that they really love dancing and want to get everyone as enthusiastic about it as they are. There are classes held every day of the week, as well as practice parties Tuesday and Friday nights where you get the chance to dance with other students and instructors. They also hold different shows throughout the year where you can show off what you've been working on to friends and family. I know pricing is a big concern for practically everyone now-a-days, but they will work with you as much as possible. Private lessons are definitely worth the price because they include all the group classes too. So the more group classes you attend, the more you get for your money. Plus, there are lots of opportunities throughout the year where they offer promos and discounts. If you really want to learn to dance, the personalized attention you get here can't be beat. read more

My fiance and I came in for a private class (Amazon deal- $10). We had an incredible time. Our instructor Marcus was incredibly friendly, attentive and kept us smiling throughout the lesson. It was great to go over the basics, and exceptionally helpful for preparing for our wedding. We enjoyed how friendly and welcoming everyone was, but unfortunately won't be able to continue as the price is too high for us. read more

My wife and I got married this last Sunday and took 4 classes with Noe for the first dance at the wedding reception . I was prepared and the dance we learned at the class was perhaps my favorite part of the reception. I'm not sure if anyone or any other class would have had the skill or patience to teach us so much in so little time . We received many compliments throughout the evening . Loved the studio! Great instructors. After years of putting off dance I finally decided to take a class. Best thing I've done! The entire staff is great.
