I rely on sales when I go shopping in this store. I have an app that alerts me of sales and I am also given customer appreciation customers for items that I use frequently. If you are an avid milk drinker or use milk in recipes then I would advise you to watch for reduced prices. I eat SunChips and have bought 2 have got three free. These are awesome. This Fred Meyers has a service center that does money orders very cheap up to $1,000. Most places charge several money orders with that amount. Bills are always knocking at the door so why pay more for a money order somewhere else. Just put your club id number and it is just $1.00. You are saving nearing $3 or $4 in money orders. I had a clerk tell me that if I use my Fred Meyer club then my money order is cheaper. Advice to my fellow Yelpers, go early in the morning to this store. This store is crazy in the late afternoons and it is so overwhelming to go in there. Store clerks do their job and there are friendly ones and not so friendly ones. I avoid those with attitude problems all together. I already do not like to grocery shop but do not put me in a bad mood. This place has good look on marked down bread for French toast or marked down banana for banana bread. Look for anything in Red colors and that is saving you green : money. I am serious, I try to save money. This one has a Boost delivery service but others may like it. And here ladies and gentlemen if you need to use the bathroom; it is locked. You must ask a nice friendly one for the code and if you are hard of hearing like me it can be hard. But most of the time you probably want to go to bathroom before coming here. I ask no questions, I am guessing it is to keep us all safe. If you have a long shopping trip please use the bathroom first. I pretty much keep my trips here very short. No joke, I give myself 10 minutes to go in and get out . So I have the list before coming. Hahahaha read more

This review is for the pick up service this James Center store offers. I tried 2 times to use and OMG it is non-existent. The first time, I didn't have the app and actually had to go into the store to ask for my order. The second time, I couldn't load the app from their sign in the parking slot. I called and the customer service rep came out and scolded me saying, we don't have record of your order/did you even order. Use the app, and I replied yeah, I tried that and it didn't work. He huffed away and came back with the equally unpleasant attitude and said something like, are you happy now. I did give him a dirty look and said, yeah, thanks for practically nothing. Rude!!! I complained on their survey stating uh, ya know what? Your store offers this service and if you can't hack it or are "understaffed," okay, we'll blame that then, don't continue to offer it. Your store can't handle this. Also, there was ONE OTHER CUSTOMER parked waiting for her service who arrived shortly after me and no one came out. She was still there when I left! I was there almost a 1/2 hour. Well, I finally got a call back almost 3 days later from one of the store managers, "KAYLA." She called when I was unable to answer, I assume at her convenience. I might still call back but my experience in general at this location is they have a bunch of assistant managers with a huge rotation schedule. Probably to save money. Don't use this service here. I have been to many Fred Meyer but never a Fred Meyer Marketplace. Not sure what's the difference between a regular Fred Meyer and a Fred Meyer Marketplace. They both sells the same thing and they both have the same things on sale. Except that the Marketplace Fred Meyer looks different than the other Freddies. So came here to grab grocery. Got a cart full of things. Service was friendly but when the casher needs help you might end up spending a little more time before your things are fully rang through. Its just that they have to get the manager and it does take awhile to resolve issues. Other than that, the place is clean. Freddie never disappoint me with their deals. read more

The staff looks like they want to be there or are being over worked. They never ask if you need help or say hello. Most of the cashiers are rude, but not all. Deli, bakery and meat dept workers are nice most of the time, but you can tell they are over worked. Managers walk around and never greet anyone. The shelves in the store are never stocked. They did not have running water, but kept the store open. Freezers are always broke and they look messy when the are stocked. They allow people to bring in their dogs, I saw a guy with a Pitbull once. I have been treated nice, but also very rude. As customers it is not our fault you are unhappy, please don't take it out on us. They now scan your id for alcohol purchases and I was told that it was a new Washington State law. It is not a Law it is only something only Kroger companies do. read more

This is kind of a small size Freddy's. It can be cute or annoying for some. If you do not want people knocking you down like me then : ok annoying. Well the store itself carries very useful items we cook with and it is top quality but priced reasonably. As we got to know the floorplan of store , we learned how to get in and out. Oh we also learned its peak times. Shhhhhh I won't tell that secret because yelpers shouldn't knock another one on the floor. Just kidding. Seriously, we have had a very positive shopping experience despite how busy this location can get. This store have a decent team of associates ready to assist and help. Don't shop here. They don't enforce the mask rule. When I approached the manager about it I actually watched a woman walk past him without a mask on and he didn't say anything to her about it. He told me it was store policy to educate people on the need for masks but then falsely told me that HIPAA says they can't not allow someone in the store, which isn't the case because they offer a service comparable to coming inside online. And if their job was to educate guests, wouldn't he have said something to the woman he saw without a mask on? Main point to note: this pharmacy is much better than the other 19th store. This is not a super store, meaning you won't find clothes, garden, electronics etc. Just food, toiletries, kitchen gadgets, and a pharmacy. The food selection is adequate, though slightly less than most Fred Meyers. The produce and meat sections are definitely on the small side. The store is fairly light. It is well kept. The clerks have been uniformly friendly. Nothing to make a trip for, but reliable if you're in the area. read more

Of the three Fred Meyer's in the area, this is my least favorite. It's bizarrely organized, first off. Things that should be grouped together aren't (i.e., peanuts are located in the beer aisle, sunflower seeds are located in the oral care aisle). One spends a long time trying to find things that should be easy to find. The produce selection and the meat selection isn't as good as at other Fred Meyer locations, and frequently smells a little past the "sell by" date. The organic selection isn't bad. I'm ok with that. Finally, the wine selection is the worst of the three local Fred Meyer locations. It should have more variety. read more

This store is no longer taking returns. Apparently, the policy was implemented today. When I pointed out they need to take down the sign at the customer service desk saying "We welcome your returns", they said they would not take the sign down. They didn't have signs posted at the doors, notifying people they were not allowing people to return products - if they've changed their policy, they need to notify people about this so that people can choose whether or not to make purchases at Fred Meyer. The customer service desk employees excused this failure by saying 'this is a pandemic' and gave some other equally asinine replies. Well, 'pandemic' really isn't relevant here. The corporation cannot use the 'pandemic' as a way to behave dishonestly toward customers - the returns policy is essentially a contract between customers and the business that legally must be upheld. FM/Kroger could have posted signs before (or simultaneously with) implementing this policy (nothing about the change in returns policy was on the FM/Kroger website at that time, either). The pandemic has been going on for a while - they had time to make sure notices about the change in policy were posted before implementing the policy. There's also nothing on either the Kroger or Fred Meyer websites (as of the time I'm posting this review) that notifies customers of this change - surely they could have updated their own websites before implementing the policy. One thing is clear - the corporate office is incompetent (but so are some store employees). The store employees also claimed that FM prohibits photos in the store when I took a picture of the sign - then threatened to call security (there is no such policy). The decision may have come from the Kroger corporate offices, but at the very least, Frey Meyer employees could remove (or cover up) signs that tell people that returns are welcome. They also could have print up temporary signs for the entries telling people about the changes in the returns policy - those signs could have been taken down if Kroger ever provided official signs. Is Fred Meyer going to change their computer system so items can be looked up in future using your loyalty card, once they go back to their old returns policy? Currently, items can't be looked up more than a few months after purchase. (Note that Fred Meyer must have changed their returns policy fairly recently, without widely publicizing that change - it used to be you could return most things for 6 months - now it's 90 days. They could have easily posted notification on all receipts for at least 6 months after the change, but they never did.) The pandemic isn't justification for being dishonest or aggressive with customers. It's also not justification for Fred Meyer/Kroger being dishonest and adapting policies that screw the customer. These businesses already had a lot of problems that screwed the customers (e.g., digital coupons frequently were not applied, even when they were clearly in one's account - customers had to watch the register like a hawk, checking that coupons got applied. Given this sort of thing, Kroger/Fred Meyer doesn't strike me as a very honest business.) Customer service reps got nasty when these things were pointed out, essentially abusing their authority. True customer service would have meant saying 'yes, that sign should be covered up since we are no longer accepting returns in this current situation' and 'yes, Kroger/Fred Meyer did screw up in terms of how it implemented this change in policy - including not posting signs notifying customers of this. There is no excuse for this failure. Our corporate office should have thought about the things you mentioned. We really apologize. They've made us look bad, and we should have thought to post temporary signs until Kroger provided signs.' read more

The most horrible customer service I have ever seen. Today I was the only customer in line at the customer service desk. There were 4 employees behind the counter talking, just kept looking at me for 3-4 minutes. Finally they end their conversation. The "manager" last name "Sinclair" comes over and rudely tells me to put my mask above my nose. I comply immediately. She still attacks me very rudely repeatedly saying she shouldn't have to tell me. I have asthma and my mask momentarily fell, not completely covering my nose. I understand the times but there is a professional way to do things. This person is completely unprofessional. As I was leaving she was rudely humiliating another woman at the pharmacy for I assume the same reason. This Fred Meyer has a rating here on Yelp of 1.8. We are required to give them at least 1 star so just imagine how pathetic a 1.8 rating is. The reviews all say they are unprofessional. Everyone isn't lying. I thought it was ridiculous how half the employees seem to always be at the lottery ticket machine buying tickets while working (legal ?). But now I understand, they all want to get away from her. The rudeness toward me was one thing, I'm over it. The way she humiliated a woman at the pharmacy was just unbelievable. I just came back from a horrible experience shopping at James Center. I have been a Fred Meyer shopper for over 15 years and have not been mistreated until today. April 15, 2013 930pm. With a cart full of food, I stopped by customer service to get "Mr Rug" carpet Shampoo. I've waited 10 minutes until I realized no one was around. I proceeded to go to one of the cashier and ask if I can have someone at customer service, the cashier told me someone will be with me in a couple of minutes. Couple minutes turned into 15 minutes. I proceeded to find someone with the red vest (knowing that the person is in charge) "Yolann" was at the UScan covering for a break. I understand. I proceeded to tell her that I waited 15 minutes, she was curt in her response saying "I will be with you in a couple of minutes." I started telling her that I just need the carpet cleaner bottle shampoo. She pretended not to notice what I said after she responded to "Be with you in a couple of minutes" So I go back to the customer service and waited. This turned into 30 minutes of waiting. I understand that she is covering for a break but why couldn't she just give me the bottle and let me buy it? I know there is a protocol but I just need a shampoo rug cleaner! Plus my cart is full of cold food waiting to be refrigerate. While waiting, I flagged a young gentleman if he can help me with the shampoo cleaner? He goes and asked "YoLann" who is still at the uscan. Nothing. I waited another 20 minutes. I have been at the customer service for over 45 minutes and counting and Yolann finally came over and told me in a very rude manner "I AM COVERING SOMEONES ELSE BREAK. YOU CAN GO TO ANOTHER FRED MEYER FOR THE CARPET CLEANER!" I was shocked and appalled. I told her many time I needed the shampoo carpet cleaner. She responded back to me "YOU DIDNT TELL ME THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE!" I responded back with "Thats WHAT I've been telling you!" Then of course the rest of the cashier had gather because YoLann who decided to tell another co-worker about me and my impatient. I have never witness such a crowd of employee form at the entrance of Fred Meyer to watch this woman talk to me openly. She did not even ATTEMPT TO diffuse my frustration but openly antagonizing me. I have felt belittle and criticized because all I wanted was a damn carpet cleaner from customer service. Yolann has represented Fred Meyer very poorly. In fact so poor that she is setting an example for the rest of the employee to treat a customer like what she did to me. I am disgusted how the turn of event turn into a nightmare. While walking away because of the tone she used "You can go to another Fred Meyer..." upsets me to the maximum. As for walking out the store all I hear from her "just leave just leave uh huh uh huh..... . I have been a loyal customer for 15 years and I am a frequent shopper at James Center and I am forever cutting my ties with this Store. I will continue to spread what has happened to me to the other store and online and website because this type of behavior by a PIC and the example she set is not Fred Meyer customer service. The fact that this woman can openly made me feel that she can doesn't have to serve me but couldn't find another person to serve me buy letting me buy a damn shampoo carpet cleaner...? Its mind blowing to me. I have never felt so mistreated.. I understand I was impatient but waiting for over 45 minutes and then AFTER waiting, You tell me to go to another store?!?!?! What gives Yolann the right to do that to a customer who just wanted ONE THING?!?!?!?! I refuse to step foot in this store until this is justified. I have been come to this Fred Meyers for over 5 years. I had great service, for the most part. I've had gone through this line a few times, I do because its usually pretty open. Starting to understand why. The cashier's name is Keyona. I have never been so disappointed with this fred Meyers until this day. I unfortunately had sprained my ankle and continue to work as a stylist so I'm on my feet all day. I accidentally left my wallet in the car, so I told her to let the others go first. When I returned I stood by Keyona hoping she would just let me pay and go on my way. Instead it felt like she was getting a kick out of having me stand there and let me watch her "politely " check others out. I finally said something and asked if I need to get back in line. She rudely pushed this older gentleman's cart back and asked him if it was okay if she could check me out " after a few had already " he politely said yes and I thanked him....I will always find another line, even if I only have one little purchase to make!!!! read more

I love Fred Meyer on Bridgeport! This one it's not love it's more of an irritation to step into the cashier zone! I needed to pop into this one on 19th because I knew they had what I needed for my little boy and I was right there. I won't be returning on my weekly shopping trip because of the experience with the absolute rude cashier who checked me out. Her name started with a Y and ended with an e. As I was looking at the magazines and I had my head turned I hear this loud crash of Pringles I was purchasing for my little boy. She turned my hand basket over to get the products on the conveyer belt, excuse me for not emptying my basket prior to entering your lane. I thought it would be easier to keep the 5 items in the basket. I had Pringles in my basket and I said, "I hope they aren't all broken now" her response was rude and the look on her face was I wasn't supposed to question her. She was just a miserable cashier who made it very apparent she hates what she does. This store seriously needs customer service training with their nasty cashier(s) see the other review on rude cashiers. Never have I had an incident like this at the Bridgeport store. They are nice and always helpful and don't empty your basket carelessly with an attitude! read more

As Fred Meyers go, this one isn't as bad as some. The produce section is small, so they run low and often, the selection left isn't good. Be sure to read the labels on their Kroger brand items - more and more, they're sourcing food from China. I do not trust food from China to be safe to eat. However, tonight the woman at the customer service desk was extremely rude. (For this experience alone, FM would get only 1 star.) I noticed I had some rewards cash-back (rewards rebate) on the bottom of my receipt (after I checked out), so I stopped by to ask whether I could get the money in cash. She told me I couldn't and then she said 'YOU'VE ASKED ME THAT BEFORE', accusing me of doing something dishonest. I calmly said, 'No, I haven't, I've never asked you that before'. She quickly got snippy and said 'I'm not talking to you. I'm done with you'. She makes an accusation like that and then tries to prevent a person from pointing out that she's flat out wrong?? Of course I talked to the manager. I told him to pull the video and audio from the security camera that's right over customer service and what happened will be absolutely apparent. The manager listened and apologized (thank you - but the manager had done nothing wrong). Ironically, I almost never get rewards cash back (maybe one quarter out of every year or 1.5 years I'll get a little back). I limit my spending at Fred Meyer because their stores in general have so many problems with rude (and incompetent) employees (granted, it's not all employees, but it's a subset). This store generally has been better in that regard, but the woman at the customer service desk either was having a really bad night or is incredibly rude. Everyone's entitled to a rare bad day ... hopefully this isn't a habit though. I spend some money at FM, but over time it's become less and less because their prices are so often wrong, the online coupons don't apply, and employees like I encountered tonight. (A lot of times, the problem is at the corporate level, not the store or employees; with prices, the problem likely is asking employees to do to much plus no one checking whether employees correctly change the tags. But when employees try to put the blame on me for the problem, rather than acknowledging the store has a problem, I don't have a lot of respect for them. ) I pretty much only purchase items at FM if I know I cannot get the item for any lower somewhere else. (Trader Joes gets a lot of my grocery money. It's further away, but a much more pleasant experience.) FM, if you make shopping an unpleasant hassle, you're going to lose money. read more

We spend literally hundreds of dollars in this store each month; we buy all of our groceries there. This morning the young woman at the "Customer Service Desk" looked me in the face and said, "I can't let you run around the store with those," when I was trying to purchase chewing tobacco for my husband who's recovering from surgery. This was quite insulting. When I got to the register I let the older cashier know that she needed to get the chewing tobacco for me and I told her how I was spoken to. She said, "Yes, that's policy." Well, have I mentioned we do ALL our shopping there and the older cashier has known me for years? Not an, "I'm sorry you were spoken to that way," nope. She then went on to say that they had a huge problem with things "walking out of the store." I said, if they're worried about things walking out of the store, why do they have so many UScans? Which is basically buying stuff on the honor system? We have never had a problem putting chewing tobacco in our cart and walking around with it, even two days earlier, but then at the time I was with my whiter, male, husband, and apparently Fred Meyer finds them more trustworthy. I wish I could say I would never walk into this place again but I probably will. read more

This is a decent Fred Meyer. They have a good size produce section and a small "fresh" seafood section. Most of the seafood has been frozen. The checkout is usually pretty fast and the clerks are usually polite, I just wish people would know how to bag groceries. It does not matter what grocery store you go to, they just jam stuff in bags, so I cannnot judge just Fred Meyer on that. They had 2 Red Box stations inside which is helpful on days nothing is on TV. They have a nice size deli and beer selection. There is also an area where you can make your own fresh peanut butter. I haven't tried it though. read more

As a I approached one she said "are you coming here?" with a snotty attitude! I set my basket down and told her no and went to find management to complain. After waiting over ten minutes to check out and another customer walking out of line, I called the store number to ask if they could send another cashier over. I didn't realize the person who answered the phone was my cashier. She called another cashier over to help me and started talking about me to the other cashier in front of me and and another customer. I told her that was disrespectful and unprofessional and poor customer service. The conversation began to escalate and I requested to speak to a manager. I told the manager this cashier had a poor attitude and has no business working in customer service. I requested a refund and I'm currently undecided if I will remain a customer in the future. I was given the store director's number but after reading the other Yelp reviews, it appears the problem is systemic and perhaps I should stick with shopping at Safeway. read more

This is the worst customer service ever. The managers are extremely rude and appear to be miserable.
