Stop writing anything bad about Freddy's as they are up there with Costco for prices. I love this place for everything and the manager Thomas is one cool guy that can fix anything. The pharmacy has 2 wonderful caring Pharmacists Brad & Tara that are both unique in there jobs. I wrote 2- other reviews, but when the news came on today and said the Wa. State AG is taking Safeway/Albertson's to court for over charging customers, that I talked about years ago..I had to let people that Fred Meyer's NEVER will over charge it's customers as in ten years they made one mistake in my favor on grapes, so please know the State should of let Kroger Corp take Safeway over as the people would be treated better with Kroger...we must know now, Kroger is for the customer...Thanks Kroger, your the better Food Corp. Long lines, minimal checkouts even open. Self-checkout line extended long into the frozen aisle. This is during after-work rush (5:10 pm). Had to abandon my cart because I didn't have time to wait. Not to mention their coupon clipping app is horrible. Nowhere near as user friendly as Safeway/Albertsons' app. read more

This is for some of the worst snobbiest employees I've ever encountered and I've tried to give the store at least three years of my money. For the record it's not all of Fred Meyer. Please see my last words in my review. Yes, I'm one of those people in her 50s who has questions; they seem to be so annoyed and they always think I'm coming in there stealing and profiling me. Get over yourself. I take a long time to shop because I'm looking for the best bargains and I enjoy Fred Meyer as a whole but those small particular employees are mean or disgruntled or just don't like black people. I'm gonna say it. I just don't understand I live right here in Gig Harbor as well and I'm treated like I shouldn't be there or need to be in more urban store and they let me know it especially the butcher female with all the tattoos I love tattoos I have tattoos, but there's this other guy who works the alcohol maybe Hispanic heavyset gentleman but he's just a jerk to me. I've reported it and it just seems like this is just the way Gig Harbor is and it saddens me because I love Gig Harbor. I pay my taxes. I contribute here and people won't even give me a chance. The bakery employees are sooo Sweet, and so is the lady with the gray ponytail works maybe afternoons, she's short slim and walks really fast who I go to most often for my alcohol is WONDERFUL! I ducked in this Fred Meyer to grab some laundry detergent. I was surprised to see how small this store was. There is another Fred Meyer store in Tacoma that is just like this one called Fred Meyer Marketplace and they too only carry groceries and basic household items... just like this store so I'm not too sure why this one doesn't have "market place" added on as well. This store and the marketplace store ONLY carry groceries. No clothes, no hardware, no electronics and no garden center. Oddly enough at both of these smaller stores...finding things seems to be more difficult and finding someone to assist you seems more difficult as well. The good thing is that they have a self check out here so once you do find what you are looking for you can leave quickly... providing that you know how to use these machines. read more

Just stopped by the store in the hopes it carried a couple of items that were carried by the Kroger experimental store, Main & Vine. I even read in a news article about the opening of this store that M&V was still around. I thought that meant that somehow that store had been folded into this Fred Meyer on steroids superstore. It wasn't. In fact, with the two items I was looking for, when I looked in their respective sections there was almost no choice, no variety, just a few brands. I'm not getting the concept behind this store. It's huge but when you deconstruct it the parts within this giant structure are wholly inadequate, it offers nothing that a regular size Fred Meyer doesn't offer--except for a food court that takes up the about one entire end of the store--and lacks a lot of what the smaller FM stores offer. I didn't check the prices but Fred Meyer has always been higher priced than the other major supermarket chains, which is why we rarely shop there except for specific items. We used to make special trips to shop at Main & Vine. It was a unique store with very friendly people and carried items no one else carried. That's gone now. We will not be shopping at this new Fred Meyer. And I bet they won't even miss us. read more

After many months of anticipation after long delays, the new Gig Harbor Fred Meyer store has opened in the Olympic Towne Center complex that went in this year. It's really a big improvement over the older, smaller store a few blocks away. It's very spacious, with really nice produce department, as well as meats, cheeses and deli. There's also a really nice brew bar with beers on tap, and a long bar to sit and sip suds while going over "what's on your list today". And as most Fred Meyer stores today, there's a Starbucks tucked in the corner. Note that this of course is a Fred Meyer Marketplace - it's not the configuration that has clothing and electronics and jewelry. It's just a grocery store. I was a little dismayed to not find either of my beer choices - Miller 64 or Budweiser 55. Really odd. The light beer choices overall are lacking - I have to assume this is by design, since they just stocked in a pretty sizable beer isle and apparently just don't choose to stock them like most other Fred Meyer stores. We also noted a pretty light stock of bacon choices - again, for having just been stocked in, I'd have to assume they are maybe wanting to steer folks to the meat counter instead. One nice thing they've added are the "Green = Organic" sections and signs. There are entire isles dedicated to such products, all indicated by the green tags on things. Very nice touch if that's important to you. All in all, it's a very nice market with most everything you'd expect and a pretty amazing selection in many departments. read more

I have mixed feelings about this grocery store. First I would like to say that I'm glad that Gig Harbor has a new Fred Meyers building and that the employees have a new building to work in. It's a very nice facility with lots of ample parking plus they added their discounts gas station which is great! I also like that it is part of a new small mall that updates the area. The downside of this new Fred Meyers is that, oddly, they do not have an olive bar like every other Fred Meyers. Instead they have a wine tasting bar but that's not something that every person of every age can enjoy. Nor does every person enjoy wine. The other slight let down is that it is not a full service Fred Meyers like the others, that have clothing and house Goods. Overall it's a nice place to shop but there is nothing unique about this Fred Meyers. read more

They were so backed up today that you had about four or five people in the isles waiting to go through each checkstand. When we went to the self check out, it flagged an employee to come over and ID us (and we're both retired) for the wine we were buying. But apparently the scanner wasn't working so a staff member had to check each item and figure out which of the items had been scanned. I'm not willing to put up with this slow process; there are other places in town to buy groceries. Shopping at Fred Meyer was a pain in the a** today and I'm going to make it a point to not return anytime soon. read more

Store is too small, city code faults. Layout is poor force you into small in and out entrance. Organic produce has too much space for sales amount. Then you have to go thru organic dairy aisle, real milk is all the way to the right rear corner. Bread is the same BS. Gotta fight past the yuppie stuff in all departments. Wine bar was a nice touch but it closed before covid. Liquor theft is very high, they come in fill a cart go to starbucks get a coffee, watch the traffic, pick up the liquor and boogie out the starbucks door. Builiding settled badly by the time it opened that the floors cracked extensively. Biggest problem remains the crummy layout and their forcing all the traffic thru one set of doors. This particular Freddy's is particularly nice (read: upscale) compared to my local one. And we live in nice little town so thats saying a lot. I'm actually feeling kind of gipped that we don't have one as nice but happy for the local community at this one that their grocery shopping experience seems so pleasant. We were able to find everything we needed as usual during our weekend away from the kids. Parking was a bit rough but there was an (annual?) event going on that particular weekend (can't remember the name) so that could be why but otherwise this place was downright stunning for a Freddy's. Kudos to the Floral Department! I used FM Floral a couple years ago to create custom arrangements for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary party and was so pleased. Used them again for a bridal shower and everyone was "wow-ed". Crystal was lovely to deal with and created beautiful arrangements within my budget. Absolute best kept secret! read more

I stopped shopping here for many reasons, some being as much as I loved the pick up options they would charge me for twice the amount of bags i received, produce I got was always bad, I literally got oozing oranges from them one time and brought it back and they didn't even care. They overcharged on my last grocery I sent in info reguarding it and didn't get a call back. When we got to the store my partner said "wow they must have a great cart attendant today" because all the carts were inside (more than normal) and well organized. I seem to do my grocery shopping done quicker when I'm not tempted to peruse the clothing and appliance sections. STAY AWAY!! Run far, run fast! Worst customer service ever. The girl at the pizza counter had a personal conversation for 4 minutes with a friend who came in to see her before she acknowledged my presence and asked if I need anything. The old woman working their as well (bless her heart) gave me 1 piece instead of the 2 i asked for, then couldn't get the box top back on so gave it to me with it uncovered/unsecured (nothing like cold pizza!!!). I went to self check and some brainless attendant approached me b/c she saw my Yankees hat. Then she proceeds to tell me about how she warned her young son that "people from NY are mean." (NOTE: Maybe not the best idea to approach a customer minding their own business and insult where they are from). This to say nothing of the time the cashier who spent more time talking about themselves than ringing and bagging forgot to put my 2 bottles of liquor in my bags. When I got home and I discovered it, I had to drive all the way back and they made me wait a day until they could "pull the security tapes" to verify I was correct (which I was). I'm done with this place. Nothing but problems. Save yourself the hassle and just go forage for nuts and berries. It's easier!!! They get 1 star only b/c Yelp won't let me give -4. read more

Rude checkers, both Melinda and Kim! I was sent over by customer service (desk) to the cashiers/checkers because I had some change and needed ones for the lottery machine. After I got in line and waited, Melinda started being very agitated telling me I was supposed to go to customer service, I told her I did and they sent me here. She said I don't have time to count change. I said do you want me to go back over to customer service and tell them Melinda said no? She said no, just wait here. I said it's only 3 dollars and mostly quarters, she said you'll have to go over to there (pointing to Kim next door) , I said you mean I have to wait in line again? She did not answer and when it was my turn she went over to Kim and they whispered something, then she came back very irritated. Suddenly a customer to the rescue who was prior to me in line, hands me $3 and I said I promise there is $3 here - he said no problem. Guess he felt sorry for me. The Checkers at Albertsons and the Manager Susie at Albertsons are way nicer! I'll never shop at Fred Meyer for groceries ever again... read more

We enjoy seeing our favorite checkers. Multiple stops in this store weekly. Don't judge your experience with this store by the other shoppers. Only a couple run-ins with rude employees. Haven't had to engage with them more than once. The flowers are amazing and the main reason for posting my review. Purchased last Sunday and one week later still blooming. Fred Meyer has an incredible selection of produce; fish, meat, and poultry. They have the best wine selection in Pierce County and address natural foods, top notch. Essentially, it's just a bigger a marketplace. I'm not sure if the one on the other side of the freeway still exists. No clothes, shoes or electronics here. Although it was recently opened, it feels outdated. The blue used on the walls, the cracked concrete floor. The layout is not typical of Fred Meyer, for instance, pharmacy, restrooms, etc are all on the front of the store where the checkouts empty. Not this one. Not sure if this is an upgrade to the area. It's pretty much the same as the one that does or used to exist on the other side of the freeway. A couple things of note: They have brick oven fired pizza available by the slice $3, or whole $12, and you can fill growlers here with a pretty limited selection of beers. There are like 6 taps. Parking is Costco style. You might get honked at or flipped off. Some staff appeared to be employed through an ex prison to work program. Some pretty rough looking employees. Gig Harbor got totally screwed by this new store. It's in a what will become an even more terribly congested area and no hard goods. Sorry Harbor folks. Fill your growlers, eat your pizza and forget that you could get amazing savings on shoes, electronics, clothing and nursery items if only you had access. read more

As many of noted on other sites- very underwhelmed. Loyal GH FM customer for over 20 years and my two experiences there have let me seeking another option for go to groceries. Parking horrible (and not all due to ongoing construction), cart return options even worse. Moving inside- layout inefficient and crowded, crunched checkout aisle and narrow aisles. Limited options and not nearly to cool factors taken from Main and Vine we were led to believe. They would have honestly been better to remodel old space then this- would have maintained status as only grocery store proximate to downtown and AWAY from Uptown mess. Now they are simply an average store in the midst of insanity and you might as well go to larger Safeway or Harbor Greens if you stuck shopping in that area. Makes me sad. read more

Pharmacy drops the ball every time. My fiancée has a chronic disorder and calls in her prescription on a regular basis. This morning the pharmacy was not open on time, the pharmacy assistant let us know that they had a floating pharmacist and "you know how that is", like I am not held accountable for being at work on time. Today was the third month in a row that the scrip was not ready, the tech informed us that "there was a note that it needed to be filled, but it would be another 20 minutes". This put us over 30 minutes off of our schedule. What a convenient one stop shop! Time to go elsewhere for our needs. read more

However, despite my similar wishes that the development would not occur, I still went and checked out the place with an open mind. i will say, prices are better than any other grocery store in gig harbor and while they cant seem to bag groceries yet without piling everything heavy on top of everything light and soft (who doesn't love squished bread anyways?) It's a pretty store, but after almost a year, I find myself not going there any more. I shopped the one across 16 often. Parking is inconvenient. I'm not tall (but within normal range) and cannot reach things on highest shelves. Several of the Atkins' items I buy are frequently out of stock. Never thought I'd be going to Safeway, but I am. I have been going to the old Fred Meyer off and on for 14 years. This town is small so shopping somewhere else was not possible until recently. I thought I would try the new Fed Meyer location. I thought moving to a new location would be good for the employees morale. WRONG. If you are having a good day it will not last if you shop at Fred Meyer! I will not be back very often. The employees are just plain rude downers and the old store like the new location has very bad vibes. Costco, Trader Joe's and Safeway all have very professional employees. Never rude. Always a pleasant experience. That is were I shop now. Updated: Kroger is doing a great job with the Natural Products expansions. I now find Kroger's offsite market brand online shopping is the best there is. I spend more $$ on line than in the stores. Also no moody employees. read more

This store has serious problems with customer service in certain departments. Certain employees seem to continually get away with being blatantly rude to customers. Prices also seem to be higher in this location. Parking is still a challenge at times. I will be shopping more at Safeway, Albertsons, and Target. read more

I love the new Fred Meyer! Most of their products are fresh and if there is a problem they give a replacement or refund. I am a rewards member and they send me coupon discounts based on what I buy very often. I also receive cash discount checks towards my groceries and gas that accumulates with my purchases! Easy to find what I need, great health food area, great weekly discounts on products.... the prices are from a few cents to dollars less than other stores I used to go to in the Harbor.
