I live right across the street and walk through this place everyday on my way back from work. So I visit this place a lot. I just wanted to point out it was funny how some of the out of area people didnt even know there was an upstairs! Ha. But most of the employes here are friendly, some seem depressed. The guys in the electronics department are the best! Very helpful; they will find what you need in a instant. Most of the stuff here is overpriced and I only buy stuff from here if I really need it or I have a coupon. But they have quality products. This store has a problem with its advertised and/or posted special prices and the actual scanned prices at checkout. If you don't pay attention, you'll end up paying full retail. I constantly encounter wrong pricing in apparels and other non-food departments. For example, in this week's ad, Cascade shorts are 30% off. Three days from the start of the ad, Fred Meyer was charging full retail. I caught the error during checkout and the clerk corrected the price. I thought the clerk would notify management of the pricing error, but I checked the next day and the store was still charging full retail. I guess Fred Meyer wants to put the burden of catching pricing errors on the customers. If the customer pays full retail price on sale items, it's not their problem. read more

This store has a large parking lot but does not have enough handicapped parking! I take my 89 year old mother shopping there weekly and she has limited mobility and limited sight and we rarely can find an available handicapped parking space. read more

The Grocery Outlet is open, as of a year ago, so I don't have too many reasons to take the trek up to Fred Meyer. However, I still find myself coming here occasionally, which means they must be doing something right. Maybe it's because they are the only store in the Lake City area with a halfway decent bulk section. Still waiting for a Trader Joe's... I still recommend going on "off" hours to avoid the crowds. I go here pretty frequently to get groceries. It's pretty big which is nice. It's always SO BUSY though! It's pretty clean and organized which is good and sometimes they have pretty good clearance which is nice. I wouldn't go here at night though due to the part of town it's in and the parking lot can get to be pretty sketchy but other than that, no complaints read more

This is a decent store that's really no better or worse than other places like it, and the employees there don't deserve the negative review I'm about to give because this happened a few years ago and I don't even know if the suit I butted heads with even works there anymore. Have you ever had to deal with clueless middle management types who act like a big fish in a small pond despite not knowing much about anything? That happened to me when I brought in my receipt one day and tried to get a price match on something I had already purchased from the electronics department (never had a problem doing this at other Fred Meyers and in a moment I'll tell you why). The CSR at the return desk was clueless so she called up a middle management suit who was adamant that they couldn't do anything like that, that price matches are only good at the time of purchase and he could get fired if he allowed it. Never mind there's a big freaking sign in the electronics department that says they'll price match anything within 30 days of purchase if you find it cheaper elsewhere!!! So I left and got my price match at another Fred Meyer without any hassle from a return desk CSR who was actually competent at his job. read more

Screw this store and let this horrible retail chain be put to rest. It's 2014 and you still don't have a website that shows what your store stocks? I don't know what to say besides... wow. I called and asked if this store had plastic non-cushioned toilet seats and was told that they carry a wide variety after the person I was on the phone with personally checked out their selection, even giving me brand names. Upon arriving at this particular store however and checking their plumbing department I find out to my surprise that they don't carry a single toilet seat to the specifications I asked about. Frustrated, I asked to file a complaint with the store but instead the current manager "of 13 years" came down to check things out. Of course upon further inspection of the toilet seats he came to the same conclusion which was that they only carry wood. He also mentioned he would have told me over the phone that, "I probably would have told you we have plastic ones as well." Now confirming and admitting both the employee and managers ignorance, proceeds to do nothing about the situation. He, by word of mouth, offered me a "discount" on a purchase in the store at a later date and would "remember" who I was when the time came around to it... Hah, shove it up yourself. Fred Meyer is last on my "retail chain list" I will do business with, congratulations. read more

I love this store, always fresh produce and friendly staff at the cash register, fruit and fish departments. The only thing that turns me off is that I'm scared to buy their delicious cheese! The look on the lady's face tells you: F*ck off, and don't bother me. Is it only my experience? I've shopped at this Lake City FM as well as Greenwood, Ballard & Shoreline FMs, all nearby, for decades. Self check is the slowest of the group. Store is the least clean such as floors; price tags with plastic holding strips on the floor as well as fallen shelf items. Cart area is not clean & hand baskets tend to be hidden behind security devices at doors. Positive is FM prices are the lowest of any grocery store in greater Seattle area (with coupons or discounts you get Costco numbers). read more

This Fred Meyer is always crowded and obviously popular, because they have everything (grocery, clothing, hardware, electronics, household), it really is a one-stop shopping store, and the staff are always friendly. But I don't think this store has been remodeled in decades. The floors are a depressing brown and beige, the carpets in the entryway are old, dark brown, frayed, and always dirty and the walls and ceiling look yellow with age. The deli showcase windows are outdated and the food inside often looks questionable. The prices throughout the store are sometimes a bargain, but sometimes overpriced for the quality of the item. Why can't Fred Meyer spend a litte money to upgrade this store? read more

I work here so my view might be biased but I am also a customer. The garden section is the reason you go to Lake City, between Ballard and Lake City, Seattle is covered. The reasons you don't go here is because the cashiers treat you like an assembly line NO EYE CONTACT. One of the best cashiers in the store/company is Colleen look for her and you will have fun checking out. The sales are good in grocery but in apparel its a rip off. If you look under the Fred Meyer tags in apparel a cheaper suggested retail price is underneath. The prices in garden center are competitive. Fred Meyer's worst grower is Home Depot best and if you need anything unique you can always ask and they try their best to get it. Big one to watch out for do not ask management for help they will roll their eyes and shirk you off to whoever is next to them. Also avoid using the main registers they will service exactly the load at the time you are there (they have it down to a science) always a line but the outlying registers seem to be faster excluding apparel's. read more

I love it here. Today, I was just doing the usual shopping and I found everything I need really quick. The staff is friendly at the deli. Even my cashier was very nice not to mention cute... His name is something like slevin I think. He packed all my stuff correctly and he seemed really interested in what I was saying about my day. And when I asked where is accent is from he said Bulgaria like he was proud of it. He has nice charm. I will definitely go through his line again. read more

I love my Freddy's!!! I have shopped here for last 20 years; no one can match the prices you can get here. I see a quite few reviews where people are stating that QFC prices are better - not true at all!!! Even though they are both owned by Kroger, for and average bag of groceries you pay at Freddy's (i.e. $35), you will have to spend at least $45 or more at QFC. I have shopped at several different Fred Meyers in Seattle/Shoreline area, but none comes close to the friendliness and helpfulness of employees at the Lake City Fred Meyer. Bravo!!! This location is a high traffic, so the store itself can sometimes be untidy, but understandably so. Other raters complain of carts in the lot, "ghetto" and homeless people... I think people should take some reality checks. Where do they think they live. Maybe they should move to Bellevue; Bellevue-ans say that they do not have homeless... What a shame that some people are so senseless and rude :(. THE ONLY COMPLAINT of this location: They need to make sure to actually stock ENOUGH of the items/groceries that are advertised in the weekly add, so customers can actually take advantage of the sale. The food department is good with competitive pricing but I'm only giving the store 3 stars since it seems like every last thing on the second floor is made in China. From clothes to toys to the garden shop. I know, it's cheaper, but if I'm going to pay for stuff made in China I'll just go to Dollar Tree, where everything really does cost a dollar. Or less. Very bad customer service all around. Always short staffed and unable to help. Went in to print a couple pictures and nobody was around so I went to do some shopping. When I came back 10 minutes later an associate was helping another person but asked if I had any questions. I said I just needed to pick up my photos and he told me he could be with me in a few minutes. After waiting a few minutes I said that I did have a question about the photo books (if I could make it 10 pages instead of 20) and he said he didn't know and that I had to wait for a manager. After waiting for a manager for a few more minutes the associate came around the counter and asked my name and started looking for my photos in the pick up drawer. I told him that I had just placed the order like 10-15 minutes ago and he said "oh well they are on the computer still then and I have to go to break now so someone will be with you in a few minutes." I then told them that I would get my photos somewhere else. I really don't have time for incompetent people and I really don't have time to shop in a place where the customer doesn't come first! read more

I got superior customer service yesterday at Lake City Fred Meyer. In shopping for clothes I had forgotten my reading glasses and the woman on the floor dug through the packed racks to find my style and size. In the Home department an employee stopped on his way somewhere else to answer my question. I found a coupon inside the baskets and he told me they would honor it even though it was expired. In the natural food section I was looking for Stoneyfield plain whole yogurt, and the employee called the guy who handles the natural foods. Finally at checkout I mentioned I had forgotten to get garlic. The cashier immediately asked if I wanted her to ring up one. Of course I agreed and a produce person helped me find one. He never questioned at all when I said I had the cashier ring it up already. Oh, and the two stock employees that helped me try to find cherry juice. They didn't have it but mention that the manager would be happy to order it for me. What a great experience! read more

I ordered a turkey club panini from the hot food bar, and said yes when the man working the counter asked if I wanted it heated. He then took it to a back counter and started talking to another employee. Another woman asked if I was being helped, and I told her that the other guy was heating a sandwich for me. She checked the oven, and said that it had 2 minutes left. 3 minutes later, a third employee asked if I was being helped, and I asked her to find out from the man whether my sandwich was ready. She retrieved the sandwich, and gave it to me, while the man looked at me from across the far end of the bar, obviously not wanting more human interaction. Then, at the checkout, the checker had a 5 minute long conversation about car detailing with the customer in front of me, AFTER his checkout was completed. After finally escaping the store, I got home and bit into my sandwich, only to find it still fully refrigerated. I have lived in this area for over a decade, and have stopped in this store from time to time, but after this, I will never be going there for anything again. I will drive out of my way rather than stop there for anything I need. read more
