Good selection. Good quality. Good prices. I hate self checkout but there's always someone around to help. Their "buy five items with the same color tag," all spread throughout the store, and get $1 off each item is a lot like an Easter egg hunt. A little maddening but I only buy things that I can use and I rack up a lot of steps. Not a bad thing for an 81 year old to do. Probably not for busy people. Digital coupons are a pain but you just have to ask for the cheaper price at checkout. read more

9/21/24 While doing some shipping at Fred Meyer, We discovered this is not the store we were planing on going to, but a different one in mind. Nevertheless, this store is pretty spacious just the same. The TV Center's area reminded me of Toysrus and Best Buys electronics section. We saw Gred Meyer is all set up for Halloween and Thanksgiving. I saw Twix Halloween candy called Twix Ghoulish Green. This is a Halloween-themed version of the Twix candy bar that features a milk chocolate shell, chewy caramel, and a crisp green cookie center.  It is also a candy I have been talked out of buying twice by my wife while in Seattle. This year though, I did buy some Sparkling Ice Drinks that are flavored with the taste of Starburst Candy. So far, the Orange Candy is in the lead as my favorite. This place is will organized and very clean from what I saw. I also did not see anyone's pants sagging blow their asses. Something I saw a lot of in Washington DC area. I did notice a lot of homeless people hanging about and asking different people for money. It explains why some massage places had their doors locked and checked to see who is at the door before opening. We will be back to visit this store, but at a different location. read more

I'm a big fan of their produce section, the "zero waste" discount shelf is a lovely addition for those who like a random assortment of ugly duckling veggies or fruits. The employees are helpful and very friendly, same goes for the security guards. I had an issue with the coinstar machine in the landing (extremely high fee, i put in 120 pennies and got 6 cents?) and the manager ended up totally refunding me even though they didn't have to, very grateful for the wonderful customer service. read more

I don't know if there is a national competition for slowest cashiers in America, but if so I would like to personally sponsor a team from this store because it is the closest thing to a guaranteed win I could ever bet on. In fact, they could rival the Yankees for greatest dynasty in sports if slow bagging ever becomes a sport. Shopping (getting everything in your cart you want to buy) at this store is pretty quick and easy, and their selection is pretty good. But then you start waiting in line to check out, and your entire life changes. You start wondering what day it is. Didn't I shave today?? Why do a have a full Ted Kazinsky beard now? Did that conveyor belt just move backwards? Is that cashier taking things out of bags or putting them in? I can't tell! Have I had a birthday since I've been in here? One birthday or two?? When did I last see my wife and kid? Am I still even married? I hope she remarried someone who treats her well. Do I still have a job? Surely my PTO ran out and I've been fired by now, right? What life even exists for me now outside those sliding doors?!? Sarcasm aside, I honestly 100% have never seen a store with cashiers this slow, and it's ALL OF THEM. Every time I shop here I go to a line with a cashier I've never had and I think, "Surely they can't be slower than the last one." But EVERY SINGLE TIME they are. The Shoreline Fred Meyer is overall pretty good but here I really want to recognize and commend the pharmacy there. In my many years as a customer, their professionalism, efficiency and people-oriented service has kept me coming back despite it not being the closest to my home. A couple of weeks ago, I needed to fill new prescriptions for my husband following day surgery. Once he was settled at home I realized that I barely had enough time to make it to the pharmacy before closing time. The prospect of waiting overnight without his medications for pain, etc. was devastating; in a panic I called the pharmacy. Most pharmacies don't have the time or staff to listen thoughtfully and make the best efforts to help when calls like mine come in right before closing but the SL pharmacist and staff were wonderful. What can you say? Fred Meyer has a great selection of everything at Lake City. On both levels you'll probably find everything you need. The bottom level has groceries, housewares, electronics, seasonal items, a deli and a coffee stand. A great selection of shoes, yes, even inexpensive house brands for about $30 in a good range of sizes (in the very back of the store, in the corner). The meats are good, the dairy is good, the veggies are good--not much bad to say about this store, although certain areas of the deli area are in desperate need of deep cleaning (have you seen underneath the hot serving pans when they remove them?). I don't shop here too much any more, though, because of no plastic bags. I always forget to bring my reusable bags INTO the store, because I go to the Safeway Kenmore now instead, but since Fred Meyer is right next to my house, it's very convenient when I don't feel like driving. read more

It's a strange experience to shop here every time, just due to the customers. You never know what you're going to experience. But that being said, it's a solid Fred Meyer. Prices are affordable and they have everything that you could need. Staff are really friendly. It's often packed with customers and can be a little overwhelming. We just came from shopping at Lake City Way Fred Meyer. When checking out, the cashier Eric had bad mood, he was frustrated to the customer (a black lady and a boy) prior to me, he yelled at her "Don't let me raise my voice". When serving us, I put the totes together with the goods by the end, he said "You should put the totes at the front", I said "Eric, you are so frustrated" he said "I am always frustrated". I went to the customer service counter, asked to speak with the manager. The manager at the time was Tristen who actually stood by the self-checkout area where it was just next to Eric's work place. He said he observed that and he was going to talk to Eric, hope he really reminded him. Service reps or cashiers are the face of the store. The service at Fred Meyer was always excellent, we have been shopping at this branch for over 25 years since we've moved to the neighborhood. read more

I just had a great experience with Scott at the pharmacy. It was less than ten minutes to closing and I walked up and inquired if he had a medication in stock, and if so if he could transfer the prescription from QFC location to his location. He joyfully confirmed my information, then confirmed that he had the prescription, went about asking the QFC to allow him to transfer the prescription then he filled it. Also I had a poor experience with a competitor with a refill, while we were checking out he answered my questions about their prescription refill process, and how many days after requesting the prescription from the doctor they would follow up, which was 2 to 3 days. (The competitor had not followed up on a refill request for approximately 10 days.) All in all, this was a wonderful and patient centered experience. I deeply appreciate Scott's service. read more

The part that I don't understand, is how this is a family brand owned store, and whenever you are shopping in the checkout at self-checkout. They have the most rudest employees on some days. 5 stars specifically to Assistant Manager, Faye! We came in on Black Friday looking for their advertised sectional couch only to find a note posted in their furniture department that this couch freight was not received in time for Black Friday. To my surprise, Fred Meyer had a substitute sectional [better] plus an ottoman for the same price! Faye told us to meet her outside for merchandise pick up. Low and behold, here is little Faye driving a forklift with pallet and our gigantic sectional in tow. She even manually helped lift the couch into the back of our rented Uhaul truck and this couch weighs close to 200 pounds. I was impressed by how strong and willing to help she was! Her customer service is definitely an asset to Fred Meyer and she went above and beyond to make us happy customers! read more

Pros: good prices, great service, efficient checkstands, BULK & "while foods" section! super friendly cashiers & grocery clerks CONS: I've made the mistake of having to go to the bathroom there twice. BOTH times, it smelled bad, trash was overflowing both in the main area and the little stalls (sorry to be so explicit, but I'd rather not see someone's used tampon a foot from my face), and the first two stalls I went into were not flushed. There was water on the floor in the main area & I almost slipped. One of the paper towels and one of the soaps were empty. O felt like I needed to shower after using. The bathrooms obviously need to be checked and cleaned more often! read more

To some extent all of these places are the same. They get the same stuff from distributors for the most part, so the core selection doesn't vary too much. The differences come down to the layout, staff, and clientele. LCW Fred Meyer is historically a pretty raggedy location, but they have made it a bit nicer over the last 10 years. Lots of Fred Meyers have gotten a lot nicer recently, and this one has made small strides--but it's still not the nicest one, for sure. There's plenty of parking, and it's always busy. There's a ton of residential for miles in every direction here, so it's always gonna be crowded. Inside, it's nice enough; they have updated the lighting and shelving and whatnot. You don't feel like you're picking through remaindered stuff at a flea market--there used to be some pretty grotty FMs, and this one has avoided that fate. I used to come in here once in a while for hardware/houseware basics--they have all the basic departments. I stopped by for some groceries last week and, while the selection definitely didn't get into premium treats by any means, I found everything I needed. Prices are fair. Everything's laid out well, and the staff were nice. The other shoppers ranged from mostly normal to a few real oddballs who made you wonder what they might do next, and then a few more white-collar types who seemed to wish they didn't have to mix with the common folk. It's modern Lake City Way--you're gonna get all kinds, for sure. Bottom line, this place has everything you need at reasonable prices. read more

I shop here 2 times a week on average. I come for the sale deals & to get my staples. Some things are starting to irritate me about this store. They have a small amount of the small grocery carts yet the majority of checkout lanes open are the "about 12" or less lines. I refuse to self check because I almost always have produce, coupons & wine. I also believe in keeping the checkers in their jobs. No one enforces the about 12 items or less. Someone or some group of people insist on feeding the birds in the parking lot. The birds crap all over your car. I brought it to an assistant managers attention & she said they asked them to stop but they haven't. Signs need to be posted & the guys who go round up carts should sweep up the birdseed immediately. You can no longer turn left into the parking lot from Lk. City Way heading South. The driveway on the side street then is horribly busy! There was an accident at the intersection there today. The lady who works the upstairs cash registers is not very friendly. She gives me attitude any time I use a store coupon & a manufacturers coupon at the same time. I keep going back because it is one stop shopping & their prices & quality of merchandise are good. Just wish they would address the problems I've mentioned. read more

I didn't know these places were do useful. I'm usually not all about the one-stop shopping places because they tend to be dirty and cheap. This place was cheap, but far from dirty. They have a fully stocked grocery store. With lots of organic goodness too. A little lacking on the beer isle, but good singles. And of course a great baby isle, with lots of baby food choices. The prices aren't that bad either. But it doesn't stop there. They are fully stocked Target style store too. Tons of mid-level furniture, hardware supplies, decor, and even a painting center. On the upper levels there are great clothing buys for the whole family and a fun toy and camping section. Also, one of the nicest garden centers. Seriously, I would come here just for the gardening supplies and plants. This Fred Meyer always seems to be much better stocked than the other ones in town. And better variety. However, you have to deal with the Seattle yokels in the parking lot and check outs. Parking a car and using a shopping cart are difficult tasks for these people. read more

The food is crap. The meat is the poorest quality, not choice cuts and that was even acknowledged to me by a worker when I asked if they had any better cuts. They said they know, they agree, but that is what they're being sent (potentially due to covid?). I went in for bread today, a loaf of sourdough as part of a sympathy gift basket...it expires tomorrow the day of the basket delivery so I had to go elsewhere. I decided to cook the fish I bought a few days ago as it has a use by date of July 5th. As soon as I cut open the package I could tell it was rotten. Many of their products expire within days of purchase. I've had fruit go rotten within two days of getting it home. One time I saw that a row of packaged salami was expired by almost two months. The inside was getting runny... I notified an assistant manager as I was waiting in line and pointed out where the Salami was, by the Deli at that time. She barely nodded and walked away. I watched as she started to walk away from me and the Salami. She looked back, saw me watching her and walked over in that general area. I have no clue if she pulled it or not. SMH! I won't bother going on about long lines upstairs and down. Most annoying while they stand in a cluster gossiping and watching employees. Don't be a person of color and expect not to get followed by security...heck you don't even have to be a person of color. They think everyone is stealing or suspect. read more

This store has definitely gone downhill.... I have been shopping here for years and have watched and witnessed the decline starting with the rearrangement of products, especially the produce department while freshness has mostly gone out the window. Supply is an issue on products that I can easily find at other stores. Center isles are narrower...hard for carts to pass easily. I consistently witness shoplifting from the homeless that bombard the area with not a care from the security guard who stands at the door doing I don't know what. I questioned him with him saying he can't do anything. I use self checkout even with a cart full... it's way quicker than most cashiers. If it wasn't for fuel points I absolutely would no longer shop here and am wondering how worth that decision is read more

The pharmacy here has a very fast, knowledgable, friendly and helpful staff that's always a pleasure to deal with. Sandy is one of my favorites. if you've got a problem with you meds she's all over it and gets it fixed and as an added bonus she's got a great personality. I'm thrilled to have found this pharmacy after having to deal with Walgreens staff. Once they said hello they pretty much told you everything they know and getting them to do anything like call your doctor and following up with anything was like getting teeth pulled. Bartells wasn't much better and no walk up window or drive thru you have to walk into the store and wind your way to the far back corner of the store with no direct isles to take you there. Best grocery store in our area! Always unbeatable prices and random sales that aren't listed in any catalog. I usually find the best produce here as well as delicious deli items. Their selection of meats and cheeses compared to any other store is the best price for best quality. There's an organic section with bulk foods and locally made items. Their alcohol section is mainly self serve so you don't need to wait on an attendant for 10mins or feel rushed to pick something. The other day they were handing out free popsicles to shoppers! I've been visiting this Fred Meyer for six years 4-6 times per week. Mostly to get coffee at the independently-owned kiosk (kudos to Freddy's for leaving the little guy alone and not replacing them for a Starbucks or Tully's during the remodel.) Naturally it is convenient to shop here as well (it's right down the street from our fitness training facility.) I think they have a great product selection, especially in their relatively small health food section. I know a lot of the morning staff now, and they are all really nice and they work hard. I can find most anything I need here, from clothing to electronics to office supplies to kitchen products to food, you name it, they've probably got it. Love that! Where they've gone horribly wrong is in their main entrance. They did a fairly major remodel here a few years back, and the godawful front door layout wasn't changed one iota. There are three doors leading from the parking lot into the foyer and then three more leading from the foyer into the main store. The direct path from the outside entrance middle doors to (and through) the store entrance middle doors are always blocked by some merchandise display, forcing shoppers entering and exiting the store to detour to the doors on the right and left. Most go to the door on the left, coincidentally the same door next to which the coffee kiosk is located. It's a mishmash of humanity, shopping carts and grocery bags trying to maneuver in and out through those doors and the customers trying to get coffee add to the confusion. It's terrible! But no one from management or corporate has seemed to notice or care. Also, on Saturday mornings the main parking lot has become a super-crowded nightmare since they put in the food bank across the way, because there is no other logical place for the food bank visitors to park. Not too mention, no crosswalk, so it's much tougher to enter and exit from that side with everyone crossing back and forth haphazardly. Not much anyone can really do about that, but the upper lot is much more peaceful and less crowded. As for the interesting clientele mentioned by other reviewers, well, all I can add is that it's a great place to people-watch! read more

Livid!!!! This entire experience was infuriating! Leaving aside the actual shopping experience, which was only disappointing and a challenge, the check out experience was horrific. My mother and I came in for some Mother's Day shopping. Half our usual brands are gone, staff proceeded to ignore us throughout EVERY department. Annoying but whatever. Then we get to the register. Our cashier was informed before and during the transaction that we needed a gift receipt. When he couldn't figure it out he just gave up and closed the transaction. Surprisingly that wasn't okay with us. He proceeded to call over help (assistant manager Heather) who ignored us entirely, told the associate he should have done it earlier AND THE WALKED OFF. No solution offered. The cashier was unable to offer a gift receipt, unable to return and rering the purchase, and unable to offer any solution other than going to join the long line at CS. No. Not okay. After my mother left furious and in tears, I went back in to speak to assistant manager Heather. I let her know that if a customer is leaving that upset, there's likely a reason. She proceeded to scoff and dismiss me, denied walking away in the midst of the transaction, and insinuated that my mother was at fault. Are you kidding me? I am horrified. I will be sharing this experience with everyone I know, and reaching out to the customer service survey, and reaching out to the general manager Matt. This customer service was in shambles. Poorly poorly done. Not what I would have expected from a Kroger company. read more

Went shopping in the camping section, where everything was 20-30% on sale. I'm thinking, how great, I've got a big list of camping stuff I need. Only problem- EVERYTHING in the camping section is locked behind glass, and no employees come to help. I pushed the call for assistance button many times- no one came. I went and asked the cashier if anyone could come to help, she said to use the call for assistance phone on the wall. Which I used several times and no one answered. What's the point in keeping this stuff locked up to prevent some theft if no one can buy anything at all. What a huge waste of my time. read more

Racially appropriated. Every single time I come here. Went yesterday to grab some socks and Asian lady in the clothing department was grabbing the socks for dear life as if I was going to snatch them from her hand. Also the middle eastern lady at the self check out always call the cops on me when I approach the checkout. It happened every single time I go into the store. I moved to Seattle from Texas thinking I was getting away from the racist bull crap. I've been going to this location for a whole year since I moved and every single time I have people following me or cops getting called on me when I'm at check out. And never once have I stolen a single damn thing. You would think they would take the time to get to know who their regular customers are but I guess that only matters if you're of fair skin. If we don't say anything then people like this will keep thinking it's okay to keep racially profiling people. As a resident nearby, it makes sense to shop here for my regular needs: some produce, breads, cereal, some meat cuts, and dairy (yogurt, milk, soy milk, butter, etc). As a pedestrian, I often don't feel safe and that's been my biggest gripe about walking through the parking lot area. I'm less concerned about car traffic and more concerned about the seediness of covert drug activities in the hidden areas by the bus stop and the cargo containers. I have been someone to report activities because I care about this neighborhood and want the businesses to thrive, and I don't want to be pushed out b/c of concerns for my family's safety. Having said this, I think they have an unfortunately large share of destitute customers and loiterers and they handle this reasonably okay. I've seen some modest improvements in the past few months, perhaps b/c they have trimmed back the bushes up front and maybe SPD does a nighttime patrol. There does need to be a delicate balance struck between civil liberties of the homeless and aesthetic maintenance and safety. I also agree that the deli service leaves a lot to be desired in terms of customer service. I see that other yelp reviewers have complained on this forum about the one rude order at the counter employee who has a temper and seems to be set off by anything a customer does that isn't to their liking. The cashiers have been super friendly, and now I appreciate the self-check out stands (six kiosks) so that I can get out in a hurry. So, lots of work cut out but I think many things that are convenient about FM, too. read more

They were not together... but that's fine. These things happen and if anything it makes me giggle. The bad part is, I was trying to pick up lunch at the deli counter and as usual, I was trying to strike up friendly conversation with the staff. Fred Meyer has saved my life on numerous occasions. 1. Their Garden section? AMAZING. It had all the right tools and pipes and hoses to make a great and still functioning Beer Bong when Home Depot was closed. 2. Thier Children's toy section had rad temporary tattoo kits to choose from when me and a friend desperately needed butterfly tattoos for a 70s theme party. Impressive. 3. In their electronics department, they mislabeled their IPOD nano prices, so I got one for a shuffle price. Can't beat that! I was pretty stoked. It was their mistake, but their customer service is top notch and let me have it. 4. You can't beat corn dogs and pizza sticks and JOJOS for less than 5 bucks. I still think they have one of the best deli sections. 5. On the day of the superbowl, QFC and Safeway were BOTH sold out of chips and most types of beer. Who was fully stocked and came though with chips and salsa? Mr. Meyer thats who. 6. One more thing. They have a great fruit selection thats cheap and affordable. They will not charge you an arm and a leg for a damn watermelon. Our Spodi was the hit of the party. Thank you Fred Meyer, you come through in the clutch. A rather large Fred Meyer store. Never seen one quite as big. There's two stories. TBH, I don't particularly enjoy going here to shop because it feels a bit depressing in there due to the lighting and color scheme. Because of that, even though relatively clean and maintained, it still feels as if it is dirty and run down. There are numerous shoppers throughout the day but fortunately never have to wait too long to get checked out at the register. I have come here a couple of times to pick up a light lunch from the deli and café section; however, I have had horrible customer service. There's one lady who served me each time and was so impatient and rude with me. She kept huffing and puffing audibly if I didn't immediately order. Considering there's no menu on what the combos or prices are, I have to ask to find out. Well she finds that unacceptable and gets noticeably disgruntled quickly. She's made my experience there awful and uncomfortable each and every time. I do not recommend visiting this location. read more
