What can you say? Fred Meyer has a great selection of everything at Lake City. On both levels you'll probably find everything you need. The bottom level has groceries, housewares, electronics, seasonal items, a deli and a coffee stand. A great selection of shoes, yes, even inexpensive house brands for about $30 in a good range of sizes (in the very back of the store, in the corner). The meats are good, the dairy is good, the veggies are good--not much bad to say about this store, although certain areas of the deli area are in desperate need of deep cleaning (have you seen underneath the hot serving pans when they remove them?). I don't shop here too much any more, though, because of no plastic bags. I always forget to bring my reusable bags INTO the store, because I go to the Safeway Kenmore now instead, but since Fred Meyer is right next to my house, it's very convenient when I don't feel like driving.

Local pitstop for random consumer knowledge. Exhibit A, the placement of ping pong balls in the frozen aisles. Exhibit B, CAT7 ethernet technology for over-gauranteeing streaming of episodes of Friends. Exhibit C, the realization that Freddies is a deep sink hole of spenditures for Corned Beef and Pepsi, the connections not fully understood, never the less purchased.

While at this Lake City store my wife had her purse stolen from the cart (while a baby was also in the cart), and the store was not helpful.

I always feel safer at TJ Maxx than out in the Northgate area which can have some unpredictable scenarios. The staff at this location are hard working, keeping the isles and racks neat, and I hard saying this but it doesn't look like Ross. The toy area is straightened and you don't see shoes everywhere on the ground and feel like you're at a picked over estate sale. I miss the Maxx downtown and the two levels. Great job, and the cashiers are always super friendly and keep the line moving for efficiency. The snacks by the register get me every time. Watch out. They're a good deal.

However, my recent visit has left me feeling uncomfortable and annoyed. I am in the process of moving and walked over here to pick up some storage items for my bathroom. The person at the cashier was pushier than usual to get me to sign up for a TJ Maxx credit card. She then asked me if I have photo ID and I said no just to get her off my case. She then tells me it's against the law to not have a photo ID on me (which is false) and goes into how you never know with how things are nowadays. That left me feeling very uncomfortable, icky and no longer willing to shop at this TJ Maxx.

Parking has been consistently stubborn. The parking garage I used on my visit today, North Garage on Tuesday 24 March 2026, had themed levels. I opted for the C Level which was color of pink and animal of cow. At the elevator, a cow "moo" sounded when I pressed the button for the elevator. By this level, more spaces were opened up, so a better day for parking of recent times. Walkways in the village are open to the natural elements. Some of the businesses have umbrellas available for use in shopping. The grounds and pedestrian spaces have tended to be clean in my experiences. In 2010 and 2011 when I was a student at the University of Washington, I walked to University Village so parking was a non-issue, those were quicker turn around in time visits though I did not have the carrying/storage space of a vehicle.

It's a good mix and something is bound to catch your eye even if you weren't planning on getting something in particular. I came here for lunch over the weekend and it was bustling. There was plenty of seating around outside for people to lounge around with their families. It appears pretty kid friendly too, with some water installations for children to jump around. There are also courtesy umbrellas to use for inclement weather - a thoughtful gesture. I'm not sure how they manage cold-ish weather though. Probably not as fun to shop when it's freezing out, although this is a pretty rare situation. I also spotted a security guard, but I felt pretty safe throughout my visit.

bucky - The stain under the mask

Last year I was plagued with sleep problems and my apartment is extremely bright from the multiple…read morewindows. So, in order to have a better quality of sleep I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and purchased a black sleep mask from a company called Bucky. For several months the sleep mask was great, allowing me to not only get a better sleep but when I had a migraine it kept the bright light from making my condition worse. At that time the only problem that I noticed was that the fabric (on the nose bridge of the sleep mask) began to separate. One day when I was "making my bed" I saw that there were bluish-black stains on my white pillow cases, white sheets and white duvet cover. I was at a loss to determine the cause of these "stained patches" on the bed and thought that it must have been the washing machine powder (I changed that to another brand that was clear in color) but it made no difference. Still the problem persisted, although it did not happen on a daily basis, and this further complicated finding a solution to the stains. After having ruined several sets of sheets and two duvet covers (all in excess of $600) I was at a loss for knowing what had caused these stains that ruined all of my linens. In order to find the cause of this problem I did more testing and examinations than Colombo but I had to admit that I was at a loss. One morning while "making my bed" I picked up my black sleep mask (I had taken it off during the night and put it on my other pillow) and under the mask was a stain that was an exact duplicate of the mask; it was as if a photocopy had been made. Suddenly it all became clear, the mask had been the problem all the time. What delayed my finding the cause was that I did not wear the mask every night; I only wore it several times per month. To further affirm that the mask was the cause of the problem I had a chemist friend of mine compare the components of the stain and the mask. The results were amazing...the composition of the stain and the mask was an identical match. At last I had an answer; case closed (it was if I had solved a "cold case" crime). Armed with that information I contacted Bucky and when I presented my evidence the representative indicated that there had been a problem with those mask and that other people had experienced the same problem. After much discussion the Bucky Agent said that she would resolve the issue along with providing me a replacement mask. Unfortunately several months later that replacement mask began falling apart; the fabric was separating from the foam of the mask. I could not understand how this could happen because as stated previously I only wore the mask occasionally and not on a daily basis. In an attempt to determine what was going on I again contacted Bucky and talked with Meagan. She indicated to me that these mask need to be replaced every couple of months and they would NOT replace this defective mask. When I purchased the original mask I was not looking for a disposable mask; I have had friends who wore the same sleep mask (not Bucky) for a couple of years. And, I certainly did not abuse the product; I take extreme care of any product I own (I have shoes that are 20 years old that look brand new). Therefore as a consumer writer (Sr. Staff Writer for International Press) I would not recommend that anyone make purchases from Bucky and that they seek other alternatives. Based on my experience, the products that I have received from Bucky are inferior at best. Further, I will be contacting Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, CVS and Walmart to let them know about my total dissatisfaction with these products and suggest that they eliminate that company from their inventory. The least that Bucky could have done after all of the problems and financial losses was to replace the mask that they had sent to me and not with a mask that only last a few months that is infrequently used.

Went to the reviews and it seems this is a common problem with the product. Contacted Bucky customer service but wouldn't replace the defective product stating it was up to Amazon. Bucky's answer is to tell people that these eye masks should be replaced every 3-6 months "like a toothbrush". Rubbish - a product like this should last for a few years minimum.
