We usually find a better variety of things in the Sumner store than in the Bonney Lake store

My husband had an issue with the self checkout. When staff came over my husband explained that he was checking out then the machine flashed a signal for help. He said everytime he comes into the Sumner store he seems to have the same issues everytime. Instead of saying let's figure this out. The staff member told him maybe you shouldn't came back to this store. I tried to defend these Fred Meyers stores, because I have always like your products and prices. But now I have a feeling my husband would rather shop at Walmart. read more

The pharmacy has the worst customer service I've had the displeasure of having. The youngest staff there have major attitudes and I'm gonna a call them out on it. I've called a couple times and never was told hold on or hello or please wait justvstraight to hold no greeting. This place is terrible. I went to the jewelry department. When I got there I was not greeted they were to busy taking a pictures. They a lady came over and asked me if she could help.She looked me up and down.I told her I would like to get a bangle bracelet my late husband buy for me.I had picked it out and thought it was gold but instead it was gold plated and was told very rudely there jeweler does not work on gold plated.2 sales associate told me.I was going to have wedding ring resized but ended up leaving.I took my ring to Fred Meyer on Meridian in Puyallup.They greeted me right away and were very pleasant to work with.So my ring is getting resized and i understand gold plated cannot be worked on. read more

The pharmacy staff puts you on hold forever. Super frustrating as their automated system couldn't find my prescription. I'm contagious, trying to avoid going in and getting others sick. If the RX is ready, I have someone volunteering to pick it up. I've been on hold for 12 minutes after trying to navigate their system. It rings and they just put it back on hold. read more

DO NOT go here. TLDR: Bad food, awful service, violation of rights, incompetent workers, rude accusations made by employees. OK. HERE WE GO. Unfortunately, I had an awful experience at the Sumner Fred Meyer's sushi deli. I had just finished my classes, to do my usual run to Fred Meyer to get my favorite Hawaiian sushi rolls. I got a shopping list from my friend, full of things to buy, so I grab a cart and walk by the sushi section on my way to get groceries. I get my things, and head back to the sushi area to grab them fresh off the shelf. As I walk towards them, the middle-aged Asian lady steps in front of me and begins telling me that I had stolen sushi. I calmly explain to her that I had done no such thing. She clearly didn't speak much English because she wasn't understanding what I was trying to explain. She calls over a middle aged Asian male, and they both begin verbally attacking me. They insist that I empty my backpack that I hadn't touched since I walked into the store, and because I know my rights, I refuse. The security guard was standing by the door on his phone, so I couldn't get his attention without yelling across the store. I wanted to calm down the situation and realized that my only two choices were to either call 911 or cool it down. I remembered I had an additional class in about a half hour, so I decide to cool it down. I slightly raise my voice to tell them that I would gladly pay for two if they believed that I stole. They let me free and walk me to the check out. I pay TWICE for my 10.99 sushi, and walk out to my class. This whole situation was a violation of my rights. They had no role in being a detective and trying to get me to give them my bag. The management in this store is less than sufficient, and the guard was nowhere near competent. I was not only charged twice the amount I should have paid, but publicly humiliated, personally insulted, and unrightfully violated of my American rights. This experience has driven me away from your stores and I probably won't be coming back any time soon. This store is getting a nasty review, and is two loyal customers down the drain. read more

It's been 6 months now and the bathrooms are still filthy. A wonderful place to shop. I really wonder how the management continues to go by and see these cesspools and continue to ignore them. It sets quite an example for a store that selling food. read more

The absolute worst. My doctor renewed a prescription for pain medication and sent it to this horrid place. The pharmacist, who doesn't know me or my medical history, decides that it is "too soon" for a renewal. Oh, and apparently your "friendly local pharmacists" at Freddies are too important to let anyone know of their decision...not me, not my doctor. Conveniently located near my home and en route to my part time job and back home. I love how they have everything I need. It costs a little more than Walmart, however, it is not as crazy crowded as Walmart. I dislike shopping and walking into Walmart. Next to Target, this is my 2nd favorite place to shop for my basic needs. They provide great customer service. I continue to return. read more

I'm glad that Fred Meyer made masks mandatory for all customers and associates to protect our friends, family, and loved ones from people like Annette G. We don't normally do regular, everyday shopping here but we love browsing through the house goods and garden supplies. They always have something we just have to have whether it's a piece of decor, a plant, cooking gadget, auto item, and whatnot. The store always seems clean and we've never had any issues with any of the works so far. read more

I have shopped here for years. Like their selection. Get one star as I was mocked, laughed at, and dismissed when I asked where their masks were. Not only that I went at senior 6-8am as advertized. Aisles were blocked by stockers with out masks and when I went to check out told no checkers until 7am..and it was a "courtesy" that self check out was even open. I try so hard to be safe.. but I am not going back unless I have to. PS. Told it is company policy to wear masks. Guess they forgot to tell their employees. read more

Until tonight I would have said YES to recommending this place, however after tonigI will say don't come at night when Erik is working. He has a fucking dick. My cousin lives down the street so we run into your neighborhood Fred Meyer to get a Duraflame log. She finds Erik in an aisle. Not sure what he was doing because I was two isles over. I heard her say excuse me do you sell Duraflame logs and his answer was yes in garden and they're locked right now. She said well your store is not closed. Is there someone that can unlock it for me ? This man heavy side so loud I heard him two isles over, that is unacceptable. Then I walk around the corner with Erik. Find Traci to unlock the door cause he's going to break. He doesn't know I'm even with them and I hear him talking shit about my cousin to Traci who now is going to unlock the door for my cousin. I walk up to her nicely and let her know that I heard what she was saying to Erik and what Erik was saying to her and she needed to watch yourself because she doesn't know what customers are together. Those two need to be reminded that they work in customer service. And if they don't know, customer service is just that, servicing the customer. If you don't have the right attitude to work in customer service, then get a different fucking job! I'm sure the last thing your customers want to deal with is your dumb ass attitude while they're trying to spend money in your establishment. Sumner Fred Meyer is over priced. Too many times I've come home to look at the receipt and find that something that was advertised on sale.... I was charged full price!!! Also, many times when I buy salad bags and open the next day the lettuce is brown and have to throw out. Please check out people when there is a line quit chatting with the person being checked out and do the job on hand. I try to go to Safeway in Bonney Lake when I'm in that area as it's better. read more

I love this Fred Meyer! They just have the most helpful staff members than the other Fred Meyer in Puyallup. We love to come and shop here whenever we can. Just so much cleaner, parking isn't a nightmare, neither is the gas station. There is so much more stores and restaurants in the parking lot as well. Just the ease of navigating the store, the ease of leaving the lot, having 410 near by and not having to wait for the heavy traffic off river road. I go out of my way to go to this store because it's just a nice area, the helpful staff really makes a huge difference! read more

I'm sure there will be mixed views on this, But went to buy some beer and was told the new policy was to scan your drivers license, lots of personal information that has no business being obtained by Fred Meyers. I'm sorry doing simple math is out of reach of you cashiers.. (Wait its not, so why scan and store my information?). I said they could look at my drivers license plus (I'm 54, kinda hard to mistake me for under 21) anyway, be weary of any business demanding your personal information. This is our FAVORITE Fred Meyers out of literally any of the others. The employees are always SO sweet and accommodating. Michelle is one of the cash register ladies and she's always the nicest! Today we had a a huge grocery trip which had us in life for about 10 minutes and she was nothing but sweet and so kind throughout the whole thing making us feel alright even though there was a huge line! The stores always clean and everything's easily accessible! I live closest to the puyallup Fred Meyers and I make the trek to Sumner because I swear there's no better grocery's store out there! read more

Wow. This place has really gone downhill. They've moved around the grocery aisles and the placement of things makes little to know sense. I've asked several employees where something had been moved to and they don't even know. Also the last couple of times I've been there some employees aren't even wearing their masks. Part of the Kroger brand. I don't have FM where I'm from, but it seems ultra popular up here in WA. I'd put it above Wal-Mart but below Target. I've rummaged around in their clothing area and they have some legit brands, Nike, Under Armour, Izod, real stuff you've heard of instead of Wally's offerings of Miley Cyrus and the like. Overall it's a clean store, offers beer and wine and also home furnishings. read more

Worst pharmacy ever! This review applies to all Fred Meyer Pharmacy locations, not just Sumner, WA. They lie to you; they overcharge you; they bill the wrong insurance; they use your older prescriptions written by your former doctor before filling your new prescriptions from your current doctor. I've had to call my insurance company to question a prescription charge, and my insurance company has even reimbursed me $100. This was because Fred Meyer Pharmacy used the drug charge from my husband's previous insurance company. I've gone back to CVS Pharmacy. Why didn't I do this sooner? read more

Just about the exact same as the other Fred Meyers, except this one is relatively new, so it's a little more tidy then some of the others. Didn't really interact with anyone while I was here, so I can't comment on the employees. What it comes down to though, is it isn't a Wal-Mart, and that is always a good thing. read more

Walking in, first impression is, Whoa, this is the biggest Fred Meyer's I have ever seen!!! Sumner, WA FM. Store is tidy. Staff are friendly.(It's Sumner, people generally are.) I like the store in general. I like the people. When I moved back to Sumner, I was hesitant about doing business with Fred's because my experiences everywhere else were not grand. I gave them a chance, even was thrilled by the pharmacy having a drive through! Does ANY location other than Sumner have one? Not that I know of! The pharmacy people are polite. I like them too. However, as of late, the pharmacy .. has been failing to fill my prescriptions. The drive through window has a note on it telling everyone to go inside because they are "understaffed"(which I promise you, is not the case, they have 6-10 people inside every time I have been in) and they now take lunch breaks between 1 and 1:30PM. (where they are closed to everyone) Bonney Lake doesn't do that! In short, I am taken back by this lack of ability to tend to my pharmacy needs. I left Rite Aid for Fred's and thought it was a sweet deal. Now, looks like I am going to have to go back to Rite Aid because they cannot handle the work anymore. I don't know why they have been so poor in their abilities to get the work done in the last couple months, but I cannot spend months waiting for a prescription to get filled. They should be resupplying their stocks daily! Bonney Lake says they order supplies daily and they don't run out! (but they don't have a drive through)Bottom line, this poor rating is for the pharmacy only. Not the entire store. Albeit, the gas prices are higher than Bonney Lake as well. It is a real crying shame I have to give this poor review. But hopefully, it will help others not waste their time on the pharmacy. :( read more

(My letter to corporate) To whom it may concern: At 12:58pm on 9/2/15, I had the misfortune of witnessing two cashiers-in-training be verbally berated, humiliated, and so poorly treated by the training-supervisor, Kathy, that I actually stopped to take notes. It was the most astounding display of unprofessionalism I have ever seen, and Fred Meyer employees both new and old ought NEVER be subject to such abusive and cruel humiliation, particularly in front of several customers. On this date, a cashier-in-training named ---- was ringing up a customer's purchase when there was a problem with a coupon. ------ tried her best to figure it out, but called Kathy, the trainer, over for help. Not only did Kathy treat ------- like she was an idiot, she was condescending, cruel, and spoke to ---- like she was a dog (Look up! Look up! Whats wrong with you! What do you think the screen says! If you can't do this "basic stuff" you're not going to make it here, you know.") It was so rude that -----'s hands started to visibly shake and her eyes welled up with tears. As it turned out, the coupon error was NOT ------'s fault but an error with the barcode that needed an override. Kathy, then proceeded to override the 10% off coupon and gave the customer 50% off her purchase, citing "issues with the cashier" as the reason for the large discount. I could see -------- visibly blush out of humiliation. The cashier-in-training in the next lane, named ------, then asked Kathy for help when she had a moment. Kathy made a ridiculous display of frustration, rolled her eyes, and said, "Oh my god, are you serious? You can't even do this? What does the SCREEN SAY. JUST READ IT." Note: there are three or more customers in each lane who are all witnessing Kathy disparage and embarrass these two cashiers in training. When it was my turn to check out, ----- was visibly upset and trying hard to maintain her composure. It was obvious she did not want to "bad mouth" the training supervisor to me but said that the stress of Kathy's demeanor and comments makes it hard for her to concentrate, resulting in more errors and thus more demeaning and insulting comments from the woman training her. I did not speak to -------, but certainly heard enough to know that this is a systemic problem with Kathy as a supervisor, and in no way should this woman ever be allowed to train cashiers. It astonishes me that she chose a career in customer service when she clearly is unable to control her temper and her mouth in a professional manner. I have already contacted Kevin, the manager on duty, and will continue to contact anyone necessary to see that the new employees of Fred Meyer are treated with respect and dignity both in front of customers and privately. What I witnessed today was ethically and professionally reprehensible and needs to cease immediately before Fred Meyer finds itself slapped with an ugly lawsuit over hostile work environment. What happened to this store?!? Oh my...used to be a great place to shop! The produce department is worse than I have ever seen! This is Washington!!! Produce should not go bad after one day in the house! The cucumbers in the store were all moldy! Great store. I love that the Sumner Fred's still has a separate organic/health food section, and that it hasn't been diminished by an expanded liquor section which is happening at other FMs (Bonney Lake, I am looking at you!) and the produce section is huge. Minus one star for lack of small carts and hand baskets at the east end door, this is too often the case. read more
