I am in my late 70s. I don't drive as often as I used to. And I try to be both careful and safety conscious. Right now, my husband (who has heart problems) & I only have one vehicle. I was in an isolated location near Legg Lake. I locked my Club onto the steering wheel when I exited my car. When I returned, I discovered that I did not have my Club key.... I felt so stupid! And I was very apprehensive! I was literally stranded! I called AAA. They sent a Freddy Mac tow truck - my knights in a big, red truck!! What a relief!! They didn't have tools to cut my Club - so they towed my car to my home. Once home, I could search for the missing key or contact a locksmith. My rescuers were courteous & professional - patient, understanding, and very, very kind. They treated me as gently as they would've their own grandma. They placed my car in my driveway. While they waited, I searched for the Club key. And I FOUND IT!! My rescuers were as happy as I was!! Took it back to the autozone where I got the battery and they said it was not the duralast gold battery I bought a few year ago. They swapped it out for an FVP brand that was dead asf. Tow truck driver arrived and towed my car to my home. I was told that I could use credit card to pay. WORST MISTAKE EVER. As many well know, me and my son (and others) seem to be the go-to people when it comes to tow company complaints In our area. Of course, we always try to resolve any complaints before heading to the sidewalks with bullhorns and signs. Our "notoriety" -- if anyone wants to call it that, came after the Albert's City and Police contacted Towing we caught doing illegal things and appeared to be in cahoots with city officials and police departments, eventually losing their contract. Freddie Mac has always been the "back up company" with most tows going to Albert's. Suddenly, and for two years, Freddie has been the primary and LONE tow company providing services, with no apparent problems. Believe me, we have followed Freddie around, but unfortunately there has been nothing to film... they go by the book and appear not to play political games.. or even engage with us protesters at checkpoints etc (which is fine!). Again, as the go-to duo in the area we take complaints seriously and follow-up.. sort of a watch dog little group for our area. We have received numerous complaints about OTHER tow companies, especially a company who swooped in like vultures wanting the city cimin tract. We have received ZERO complaints from residents against Freddie Mac. If we had, I am confident that we would be able to bring to owners' attention for resolution or clarification without resorting to bullhorns, signs, public shaming on sidewalk....., unlike what we have been forced to do MANY to unscrupulous tow company who swooped in from out of town and wants contact split, likely putting Freddie on back burner yet again. Five Star review was rightfully earned because as I've stated, ZERO complaints to us, who have suddenly become tow company watch dogs for the community. In February 2016, there was a council meeting to approve contact with El Monte. Due to protests, matter was postponed for 3 months. 2nd related item agenda was for Freddie to continue with a 4 year contact, passed unanimously. The competitor tow company (Royal Coaches) has continued to hound the city. They have spend hundreds of thousands of dollars hosting events, throwing free bikes around, buying politicians (which they did get in trouble in Irwindale for). We've had to take victims to small claims for overcharging, and the complaints about Royal Coaches have been endless. Owners are unable to work with activists or protesters. They only swooped in like vultures. They were nowhere to be found prior to Alberts losing contract. My guess is that they will pack up, cut their loses and leave. So confident that they paid everyone off last year, they had already secured a tow lot and have been paying thousands in an empty local lot since then 3 months were up, all complaints were ignored from February council meeting, and Royal Coaches was BACK on agenda for 4 year approval 05/17/2016. Due to protesters and uproar, council "tabled" the item . RC crowd was furious. Stealing activist idea of collecting "comment cards" from February meeting, their rep Laura Santos walked in with a large stack of "pro Royal Coaches" comment cards. After a public request, we have obtained them. The majority of cards were from out of the area, RC employees and their families,their tech people, random associates all from out of the area. Not a single El Monte resident spoke. The cards from people in El Monte? AAA needs to be aware. AAA customers in El Monte, asking them to sign regarding the great service they had received for jump starts etc. One gentleman we are aware of was even offered $40 to sign. For now with the contract being "tabled" we have heard of increased aggression, lawsuits. No idea when and if will be back on agenda. It is 100% true that I am no fan of tow companies, but what is right is right. INOT happy with over double in towing "franchise fees" passed last year, as I consider it extortion, especially since drivers are already paying a release free. It also gives cities a huge, monetary reason to have their officers tow cars. Freddie Mac has been in OUR community since 1947, passed down by family! We are happy with Freddie being the sole provider in El Monte. If the city feels it necessary to split the contract, we urge them to consider another LOCAL, qualified tow company in El Monte for 25 years by the name of Cbm Towing, who was quickly booted due to time mine extension that was then taken back as an excuse to eliminate. All who bid were curiously eliminated with the exception of RC. Nevertheless, we are HAPPY with our current tow company contact and see no need to split, especially scandal-plagued RC. We will continue to fight against RC and FOR our local companies with zero complaints and positive community rapport, Thank you Freddie Mac's! read more

My vehicle was towed to this yard in the middle of the night thanks to Temple City Sherrifs. I wasn't given any paperwork on the vehicle when it was towed so I thought I was screwed. I called this tow yard first and spoke to an older gentleman that was so very kind. He explained the process to me. He even helped by providing the correct advice on what documents I needed from the dmv to retrieve the vehicle. They even went above and beyond to look in my car multiple times with my permission to find the paperwork for the car. I have heard bad things about this place but from my experience now I know those things I heard were WRONG. I appreciate the people here at Freddy Mac in S. El Monte! My advice..... Came here today to pick up my Honda Accord that the police got towed. Pretty much my fault for not checking in on it over the weekend. Apparently they decided to do some roadwork on the street I was parked on and only put up signs over the weekend. When I came out to move it for street sweeping the whole street was empty. From checking in with neighbors I was told what had happened and that my car was only one of many that were towed away that morning. More annoyed with the city for not putting up signage over a longer period but I guess I was just unlucky. As for Freddie Mac's I called the night before to check if my car had indeed been impounded there (they are open 24 hrs). The guy that answered was friendly and luckily let me know that I needed a release form from the police station to pick it up. He let me know I could pick up the car after hours but the fee was more than just letting it stay in the lot for another day. So I decided to leave it there for the night. The following day once I had all the required paperwork I headed over to pick up my car. The wait was short, Vivian the front desk lady was very nice and helpful. I had already called before pickup as to the amount I would be charged. The charges are also clearly labeled on the window at a flat rate. The only problem was when I got there they had no change so I ended up having to use my CC. So warning if you plan to pay in cash bring the EXACT amount. They have the new CC machines that scan the chip so no problems there, the additional charges to use CC came to $4. I got my receipt and headed over to the lot, (waited at the wrong entrance of the lot lol) called Vivian back and she let me know. When we got to my car we found that it would not start and the battery had been disconnected. While there was nothing of value taken from inside (My melted chocolate snack and designer sunglasses survived the ordeal) after connecting the battery my alarm system would not shut off correctly. Driving that car home was a sight to see. Overall, process was smooth, employees were civil, was surprised I didn't come out of there with a horror story like all these negative reviews. read more

These people are crooks! My car was impounded by them after an accident. The El Monte police department had them tow it after an accident because I was not at the scene. The driver of my car could have easily moved it off the street and waited for Auto Club but these thieves are working with the police to gouge people. I was told I would have to pay 220 plus 60 for storage. Five minutes later when I arrived it was suddenly $390. Not only that, I was treated rudely and cussed at while they proceeded to drive my car off the lot, damaging it further, and then left it parked in a red zone. CUSSING, AGGRESSION, AND THREATS are not what I was expecting from this company. It was my first time using this tow company (not by choice) and I will not willingly use this company ever. They have some agreement with the police departments so If your car looks like it may need towing then call your own services ASAP. The police officers that arrived did not allow us to call our own. The towing service was horrible. I was helped by JOE and he was very rude and aggressive. My car had been hit close to my house. I wanted the car to be towed two homes over and he agreed. He charged me $146 to tow the car. Perfect. The issue arouse once he had was trying to put the car into the drive way. He had a huge towing truck and was having difficulty. He ended up having another smaller tow truck do it. While putting the car into the drive way he was trying to collect the payment but had not finished placing the car where it had to be. The paper was being filled and he kept pounding for money. Instead of calmly explaining that he couldn't release the car without signature and payment he resorted to using the F word towards me and my family, threatening to take the car and being loud/aggressive. JOE had no need to be aggressive or rude. I cannot say anything about other employees but JOE is not someone you want to help you when you've been in an accident and aRe in shock. He has no empathy for your situation and simply sees You as a check. If you have an option please do not use this company. It's two star rating is no lie. read more

Bunch of crooks. They lie saying they're closed on Saturday and tell you to go Sunday 8 am to 10 am instead to avoid the $82.50. When you get there, they then inform you they are always closed on Sunday's so you end up paying an additional $45 + the $82.50 gate opening fee.
