I've been taking my vehicles to Fred for six years now and have always received great service. He is honest, does good work and gives fair prices. I would recommend Freddie's to anyone looking for a trustworthy mechanic. First class all the way!!!

That felt insane to me, so I decided to get a second opinion and took it to Auto Technik instead. I am SO glad I did. I first reached out to them through Yelp, then hopped on a phone call with them, and they were able to take my car in the very next day. After diagnosing it, we were all pretty shocked to find out that what the Toyota dealership said needed to be repaired had actually been misdiagnosed. Jay was able to figure out what was really going on simply by plugging into the car and properly reading the diagnostics. We were honestly appalled that the Toyota dealership hadn't caught it in the first place. So instead of spending $7,500 at the dealership and most likely STILL not fixing the actual problem, Auto Technik was able to properly diagnose and fix my Sequoia for around $1,500. Aside from saving me a ton of money, everyone here was just so nice and communicative with me throughout the entire process. I felt like they were honest with me, explained what was going on, and genuinely wanted to make sure the actual problem was fixed. I'm seriously so appreciative of Jay and everyone at Auto Technik. After this experience, I'm really glad I found a shop I feel like I can trust with my car. I wish them nothing but continued success!

As a first-time customer, I brought my '79 El Camino to this shop because the car was idling high…read more After the service, I paid $500. They replaced my intake manifold gasket, BUT a P0200 engine code appeared afterward. I went back the next day and explained the issue. They told me they had left an injector unplugged and instructed me to clear the code, saying it would reset. The code was P0200, so I followed their instructions and cleared it. The code went away. The next day, I drove the car and it suddenly started shaking while sitting at red lights -- something it had never done in the five years I've owned this car. I checked the engine codes again, and P0200 had returned. I went back again and explained what I had experienced. They then told me that, in order to address the P0200 issue, they would first have to start by checking for vacuum leaks. This is where I became frustrated. P0200 is an injector circuit malfunction code, so I didn't understand why I was being told that I needed to start with vacuum leaks in order to address that specific code. I had already paid $500 for the initial service, and now I was dealing with a new engine code and a new shaking issue that the car had never had in the five years I've owned it. After declining any further service, I picked up my car from the shop. I then noticed a scratch along with a missing piece of rubber trim on my front bumper. I had not noticed either issue before bringing my car to the shop. The shop claimed they did not hit anything with the car, but they are also ordering me a replacement rubber piece. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating experience. As a first-time customer, I came in expecting to have my original issue addressed, paid $500 for the service, and left with a new engine code, a new shaking issue, and damage/missing trim that I had not noticed before bringing the car in. Based on my experience, I won't be returning. I would recommend that anyone considering this shop be aware of what happened to me and carefully inspect their vehicle before leaving the shop. Matthew took the time to do things right. He test-drove my car, thoroughly inspected the pads, rotors, calipers, and master cylinder, and gave me straight answers. Instead of upselling me, he confirmed the major components were solid and recommended a cost-effective brake bleed to clear out trapped air first. He didn't manufacture false urgency, charged an fair price, and put my safety and best interest first. Finding a mechanic with this level of transparency is rare. Matthew has earned my respect and future business--highly recommended!

I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.
