Jordan was amazing, she was attentive and walked us through the menu. If you needed anything, you didn't even have to turn your head and she was there. The food was amazing!! I got the skirt steak and it was the most tender and juicy skirt steak I've had. The chimichurri sauce was the cherry the top. The fries that came with it were perfect as well. My partner has the burger and again, the meat was so juicy and overall a great burger. The place is also very well decorated with the disco ball and neon lighting. Overall a very cool place to hang out, grab a drink, and quick bite. Will be coming back soon when we're back in SD.

Coconut shrimp - bomb Caesar salad - yum Skirt steak with loaded baked potato - yum! Skirt steak - delish! Linguine Alfredo with shrimp and side kid lobster - he loved it! Great date night spot or with friends or solo!

Well, in my recent trip to the gaslamp District, I kept hearing about Freddy's chophouse even my wife was sending me recommendations for dinner and the first one that came up was this So I felt that the universe was talking to me and said go! So, I went. Made a reservation through Yelp and was met by the door by Allen who was the most gracious lovely host ever. So, I knew I had made the right choice. Gabi what's my server and she was also fantastic and I had heard from the hotel that if you have one thing and one thing only get the ribs they are truly fall off the bone. So I sat down next-door group where there was a birthday party, yes, I bought the shots and laughed with them, and then my Wine came and these little biscuits, which were amazing. The whole place was just fun, which is just what I needed. And then the ribs came and all I can say is GO!!!!!! This restaurant is a must stop if you're in that area, thank you Allen. Thank you Gabby. I had a blast.

Pork chop w/ sautéed carrots and goat cheese.

Stopped by Freddy's while at the FinOpsX. We had a large party (9 folks). We were greeted by the manager who I noticed was helping everyone out on his team in-between greeting guest. We had a wonder waitress (Gabby I believe) who talk exceptional care of us. Service was outstanding. And we haven't even talked food yet. We ordered a couple apps (burrata was killer) and they were consumed rapidly and the consensus was the same, incredible! We ordered steaks, pork chops, burgers and everything was out of this world. Personally, the pork chop (what I ate) was one of the best I've ever had. The carrots with goat cheese were a fantastic pairing. Any time I'm in San Diego, I'm going back.

Great chop house off the beaten path in the Gaslamp District. Food was really good and the pricing is very reasonable. The steak was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The roasted carrots with cheese were awesome. Joe was our waiter, he was friendly and attentive. Parking is always an issue. Take Lyft if possible. Make a reservation, we went on a Monday night and they were packed. The atmosphere is old school steak house. We will return and recommend you give it a try.

We had been told Freddy's was the place to go for a solid steak and honestly it did not disappoint. The skirt steak with chimichurri sauce and French fries was absolutely phenomenal. I will say, the chimichurri is not traditional, but still great! The French fries might be some of the best I have ever had honestly. My husband got the BBQ burger and he said it was melt in your mouth fantastic! The mojito was so delicious and the old fashion hit just right. The only reason I am putting 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the service. We waited 10 minutes, with a reservation, for the host to acknowledge us. Our waiter was great but we would have liked to have been checked on a bit more. The restaurant itself is very pretty and the food is wonderful! We will be back!

Super grateful to them for taking care of our huge group. We were celebrating so we had a very large table and they were very accommodating. Service was great and the food was excellent. Cocktails were strong and balanced and it's in the perfect location to prep for a night in Gaslamp

I went to Freddy's Chophouse yesterday with my family for my brother's birthday. Overall it was a good experience, but it wasn't fabulous or mind-boggling. Just above average and pretty good. Let's break everything down. First, the service was very good. The wait staff and the manager were very friendly and very attentive. The only slightly odd thing that happened was when my draft Pacifico was forgotten, but I did eventually get it. Next, the atmosphere is nice. It's a good mixture between a fine dining feel and a bar vibe. The decorations are slightly gaudy and Consortium-Holdings-adjacent, but it's coherent enough for me to not be mad at it. Now the most important part--the food. For me, the food was about 4/5 stars. This is kind of a discount steakhouse. They offer ribeye, flank steak, filet mignon, salmon, chicken, and lobster dishes. They also offer a lot of entree side options and premium sides, as well as salads. For me, the food quality was a little lower than I'd have liked. It's good, but it's not really *all that* or anything. My flank steak was cooked decently and to my liking, but my brother's steak was nearly medium-well when he'd asked for medium-rare. My brother's wife's chicken was slightly overcooked. But the flavors were there overall. Not bad quality food or terrible cook/presentation, but off enough for us to notice. Finally, the cocktails. My espresso martini was pretty good, and they have a nice selection of beers. However, my mother's mezcal-guava-hybrid cocktail was pretty weird. Somehow the sweetness of the drink didn't mask or mix with the smokiness of the mezcal at all. Instead it was as if you registered smokiness and super-sweetness simultaneously yet separately. Quite an odd drink I'd recommend avoiding. That's it! 4/5 on food, 5/5 on service, and 4/ on atmosphere.

I went here for Happy Hour with my friend & wow, they have one of the best Happy Hours in all of SD! They have strong, amazing cocktails for $10 during this time. My favorites were their GOGO & Swifty. Customer service was top notch the first time I came. She was incredibly friendly & gave great recs. I loved it so much I went again the following week. However, I had a different server & he was a bit sassy & did not check in on us often. Coconut Shrimp: Generous amount of shrimp. Tasty! Summer Salad: Large portion & refreshing. Skirt Steak: A must order. Perfectly cooked, marinated & tender.

Came here on a Monday late afternoon for their happy hour. They had a lot of reservations coming in, but they gave us a nice spot outdoors in front. The food in descending order: Coconut Shrimp - saw another table order this and had to put in an order. Very crispy exterior, large pieces of shrimp (not the weird prepackaged butterflied ones), with a sweet and tangy sauce. Jalapeño Bacon Mac N Cheese - cheesy, but not overly cheesy. Got the jalapeño flavor without being very spicy. Kids were able to eat it. Pork Belly Toast - mushroom, porky, herby sauce over toast. It's a bit hard to eat, but really tasty. Summer Salad - spring greens with tomatoes, sliced apples, candied pecans, mozzarella cheese, and dressed with a vinaigrette and balsamic glaze. A nice complement to the other dishes Popcorn Shrimp - shrimp had a nice light batter. Fries were great (crispy outside, fluffy interior). Served with ketchup and a standard sweet chili sauce. Mini Sliders - 3 mini burgers. Flavor was good, but the burgers were on the firmer side. Not dry, but a tad more cooked than we like it. Fries were great. Their happy hour is fantastic and very reasonably priced. Shout out to our main server, Gabby! She is awesome. Props to all the servers who are filled with positive energy and are very attentive. Highly recommend!

5 stars!

Third visit: 5/25/2026. Still absolutely love this place. Consistently incredible. Coconut shrimp, salads (Summer and Ceasar) and Jalapeno Mac - as good as it gets. Mixologists, some of the best. Tyler took incredible care of us during our visit, and Bailey at the host stand - just as friendly and helpful as can be. My go to in San Diego, each time - every time. Highest recommendation.

Freddy's Chophouse is a vibe, and not your typical steakhouse. I was not expecting high-end just based off the prices. The space is cozy and inviting. We started off with the bread, which was delicious. Buttered, salted and drizzled w hot honey. For drinks, I had the espresso martini which was a solid 9/10 and my friend had a margarita! . Cocktails were strong and well-made, which always earns bonus points. We both had steaks. The steaks were good (not mind-blowing, but solid). The vibe is definitely a highlight it's lively, trendy, and great for a night out.

Right away when we arrived I noticed that the flooring on the revolving fireplace looked like it needed to be replaced. I shrugged it off thinking they needed light weight materials for the revolving floor entrence. But I didn't think it was a good look for what is supposed to be a swanky exclusive vibe and being the first thing you really see. ( First impressions are important) Despite having made a reservation, we were seated directly between the revolving entrence and the exit, in the two coolest looking but most uncomfortable chairs. They were not practical at all for sitting and conversing a in a loud environment. That corner, in my opinion, should be reserved for the hostess and not for guest. Initially we thought these chairs were a quick stop before being moved to some of the other available sitting at the bar or around the perimeter we could clearly see when we came in. We asked, and where told those were our seats. No offer was made to be moved. We did not get a server to come to us until after we had placed our drink order with one of the hostess, about 20min after we were seated. Our server was very nice and polite. No issues there, just took long to get to us. The drinks were disappointing. Forgettable to say the least. We ordered one of there menu items and a Moscow mule. We were sad to see the Moscow mule served in a glass you might normally get a mojito in ... it wasn't served in a copper cup. As we sat there and looked at the place, we both thought the ambiance and decor was nice. However we were surprised to see so many people looked very underdressed considering they have a "smart casual" dress code, completely destroyed the whole swanky exclusive vibe. Lots of men in shorts and both men and women in flip flops. I also noticed the flooring inside the speakeasy had similar wear and scuff marks, as on the fireplace. The need to update their flooring and the amount of underdressed guest did not help project the vibes that they are going for. This really felt like a fast food (drinks) chain in any mall. Sadly I would not recommend, do to the drinks not being all that good, the service was mediocre, the "vibe" and experience they sell fall short.

His questions guided my indecision towards a Berkshire Old Fashioned that was fantastic despite my fumbling to get there. I love coffee (specifically strong espresso drinks), so I asked for a strong, coffee infused, punchy cocktail, but with a different base of alcohol from the old fashioned. What came out was the best cocktail I will probably ever have in my life. The bourbon cocktail with coffee liqueur (and a number of other garnishes I will never remember) hit the bullseye.
