Keeping in mind this is only my opinion! Fred's in Tigerland is an absolute disgrace to LSU. Why they let it stay open I really don't know unless someone is benefiting from the $20. cover charge they make everyone pay to get in. Their so called managers are RUDE, the grounds are FILTHY, and they could care less about anything except collecting that MONEY. My daughter just graduated so thank goodness I NEVER have to go back. Fred's is a great place to go if you're 19-21, but the older you get, the more you start to realize there are way better bars in Baton Rouge to go to. The music selection isn't the best, it's the same every week. The drinks are good and they always have great deals such as open bar from 8-10 every Friday with a $10 cover if you have your LSU student ID. They also have $1 drinks no cover on Thursday. Now, remember this is generally a college bar located in a college town it's not upscale so it's not fancy but if you want a good time and good company Fred's is a great place to go. Was looking through old college pics (10 years ago...wtf already?) and ran into some pics that looked like they were from Fred's. Here's a reconstruction of what I can remember.... $1 shots and free Jager around midnight when they play Thunderstruck right after the LSU 4th Qtr song. Nothing else really needs to be said. Not only that but holy hookup fest and a lot of shameless grinding. Gotta love that DJ for playing old school Hot Boys Friday nights before a big SEC game were the nights. Met this business at Fete Baton Rouge. They offered free entry with a sticker. I should have known better with this bar. Undergrad bar with a lot of underage drinking/drinkers. They not only didn't honor the voucher but didn't even acknowledge they were at Fete Baton Rouge. Nor did they acknowledge the existence of the person I spoke with. My girlfriend and I ended up paying at the door. I do not plan doing business with again nor do I recommend business if you intend to have large groups. i am an LSU alumni and have been to Fred's before. However, tonight, at or around 10 pm I received THE ABSOLUTE WORST service I have ever seen in my life. An off duty bartender, Kaelyn Kimball, yelled in my face calling me crude names for no reason but seemingly her own enjoyment as she shoved her phone into my face showing other people on FaceTime that I was sitting at the bar. I then stepped outside, wristband on, to make a phone call. I bad advised all employees I would be right back and offered to leave my card so that my tab could be left open. When I tried to go back inside, the "manager", or so he claimed, as he refused to give me his name, said that I was not allowed to enter. I asked him why and he said "Because I said so". Fred's encourages discrimination and its employees are the rudest in the industry in my opinion after refusing to let a paying customer come in for no reason when closing time was over an hour away. read more

This place is my absolute favorite place to go out to. From the bartenders to the doorguys, Fred's is always a friendly & welcoming environment. The bald man who works the back bar by the restrooms is always super friendly too! The two red heads who normally work the front bar (I think they're twins) are always a good time & manage to be the life of the party while still being professional. Then there's the patio area (which they recently had redone with some beautiful stained wood) where there's normally a live band performing on the weekends! ehh. i wasnt impressed. I know I'm about to come off like an old man but i thought the music was to loud for the size. There was a good crowd and two bars. The 2nd bar was tiny and only serviced by one bartender but he was quick so waiting wasn't an issue. We stopped up here to see a band while we were in town. It also happened to be their 30th birthday weekend party/bash! Thee place was packed and they set up a tent in order to accommodate the crowd. They did a good job controlling he masses. I am thinking that on a typical night this place is packed with LSU studetns. Although I am thinking LSU students made up about 50% of the crowd the night we were there, it looked like there were many people there who frequented this place over the years and returning to wish them a Happy birthday! I used to love going to this place, but some of the bartenders water down the drinks and they still charge you full price for the drinks. Fred's is the kitty's titties literally. The bartenders not only specialize in mixology but also are all stars with the freds titty tattoos. Great deals such as 25¢ drinks and will even give out shot tabs for people's birthday. The workers are very friendly except for one bartender I think his name is Tate he is so ugly. Besides that they have enough jager, rumplemintz and freshly squeezed orange juice to last a lifetime. For most of the weekends out of the year they have great live bands on the patio. My favorite bar in Tigerland, Fred's has been known to throw some of the wildest parties in Baton Rouge. Good drink prices and excellent live music. The absence of freshman guys (20+ to get in for guys on most nights) maks this bar a bit more easygoing and mature than its nearest neighbor (Reggie's). However, it is still one of the most popular bars in Baton Rouge and at times standing room alone is difficult to find. Fred's has something that more bars should adopt. It's called free drinks. It usually occurs on Friday nights. For two hours, usually from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. you pay a ten dollar cover and drink all you want; liquors, beer etc. all free. But with most things there is a catch. If you say you want a vodka/sprite then they will give you the well vodka. However, if you request Grey Goose and vodka then they will oblige you. Little known secret to free drink newbies.
