Lots of hype, a lot of cool memorabilia on the walls, and a lot of history. The chargrilled oysters are good, but not the best in town. The shrimp remoulade salad is very good. The shrimp are big and served on top of good fried green tomatoes. Great combination. The menu has a lot of good looking choices. I may come back and sample a few more.

A random episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives led me to Phil's. Upon entering, the initial greeting by a male employee wasn't the warmest, but that quickly turned around when Anna welcomed me and seated me in a booth. It was the Saturday after Christmas and, thankfully, not too crowded--always a plus. Within minutes, Anna returned with water and took my drink order. I chose sweet tea to start and later added a blueberry lemon drop. For food, I ordered a half dozen charbroiled oysters--half Garlic Butter and half Diablo. I accustomed to being able to order mixed flavors to complete a dozen but I'm quickly noticing that many places won't do that here, even when the price is the same. The oysters arrived quickly and were charred perfectly--hot, flavorful, and fresh. Between the two, the Garlic Butter stood out more; its flavor was richer and more pronounced. Both varieties benefited greatly from a drizzle of fresh-squeezed lemon. One thing I've learned living in Louisiana is how much people love Gulf or Louisiana-farmed oysters. Personally, my palate leans more toward East or West Coast oysters, which are hard to come by here. That said, these oysters were still quite delectable. I would, however, prefer the Garlic Butter to be even more garlicky, and the Diablo lacked the heat and spice I was expecting. As for the drinks--the tea wasn't overly sweet, which is fine, but this is the South, and we love our sweet tea SWEET! The blueberry lemon drop was just okay; it was missing a strong blueberry flavor, and the alcohol was barely noticeable. The ambiance was clean and pleasant, and Anna was attentive throughout my visit. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'll definitely return to try more items on the

After seeing Phil's on DDD, I knew we had to check it out on our next road trip through Baton Rouge. It a neighborhood tavern or bar & food place. Casual, TVs tuned to sports (Olympics) and has a vibe like you want Phil's to be in your neighborhood. We ordered (and split) a dozen chargrilled oysters, a shrimp po'boy, and a crawfish cheesecake. It was almost too much but we finished it. The cook was shucking and grilling the oysters while the kitchen took care of the rest. The oysters and po'boy are some of the best I've had and the cheesecake was a one of a kind. It's not a dessert kind of cheesecake, more like a quiche or a casserole. Hard to describe but great to eat.

Very good food. Great service Crowded but not full on a summer Wednesday-no seats at the bar but no wait for a table Lots of sports in 6+ TVs. Loud inside, and everyone very friendly (as long as you like LSU)

If you're planning on coming here for lunch, do yourself a favor and arrive early--this place fills up FAST, and for good reason. You can feel the local love as soon as you walk in. It's lively, welcoming, and the food? Straight-up phenomenal. Here's what I ordered (and devoured): * Spinach & Artichoke Charbroiled Oysters - Creamy, flavorful, and perfectly charred. A must-order. * Garlic Butter Oysters - Rich and indulgent. The garlic-butter combo is classic for a reason! * Grilled Cheese & Tomato Basil Soup - Total comfort food. Crispy, melty grilled cheese paired with a velvety tomato basil soup. * BBQ Shrimp (Appetizer size) - Spicy, buttery, and packed with flavor. Don't skip the French bread--it's made for sopping up that sauce. * BBQ Shrimp Pasta - That same delicious sauce, now coating fettuccine and shrimp. Warm, hearty, and SO satisfying. * Espresso Martini - Smooth, strong, and just sweet enough. Perfect end to the meal (or beginning, no judgment!). * Harvest Salad - Light, fresh, and balanced. Great start before diving into the rich dishes. Pro tip: The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere is energetic but not chaotic, and everything comes out fresh and fast. Whether you're here for oysters, pasta, or a casual cocktail--Phil's delivers. This place officially has my heart (and my next lunch plans). Highly recommend!

We went bc friends told us to go! Got there before church rush. We walked right in and got a table. The server was friendly, Conner. He was super busy. We ended up getting 1/2 po boys and gumbo! The gumbo was full of flavor but I did add hot sauce. The bread wishes it was the flakey kind but it was soft. The fried shrimp was lightly battered and good. Recommend always serving with sauce!!! The app of oysters was the highlight. So yummy, get a dozen! It was good fun local Hangout!

Phil's is local seafood at its finest. A cozy neighborhood bar and restaurant that provides great service, great food and great vibes. Catch $1 oysters on Monday or their enticing lunch options. It's where good food and fun intersect. Even Guy Fieri agrees!!!

An awesome hometown, local restaurant in Southdowns! I love this location... very clean, plenty of parking, and great food. We came on a Wednesday night around 6, and we sat right down at one of the high top tables. This gives sports bar vibes with tons of tvs, a bar you can sit at, jerseys on the wall, and booth/high top/table seating. The waitress was fine, she just didn't tell us about the specials on the back of the menu. We hadn't been here before so we didn't know, but we likely would have changed our order for the specials. Anyways, I got the dozens oysters, and they were delicious! My mom got the burger and my dad got the gumbo with tuna appetizer. The food was delicious and came out very fast! Will be back!!

Cool setting but very loud. The redfish was delicious. Also had the crab soup. The highlight was probably the white chocolate bread pudding.

Saw this place on Diners Drive in and Diners on Friday night while doing an Auburn college visit with my daughter. We decided to make a lunch stop to see if it was legit. We adjusted our drive departure time so we could stop in Baton Rouge for lunch and I must say that it did not disappoint us one bit. From the wonderful waitress Maddie all the way up to the owners who came by several times to ensure each table was completely satisfied. Food came out within minutes and was piping hot. The chargrilled oysters were amazing. Also had the crawfish cheesecake which I was a bit nervous about at first but it was great as well.

She came across as short, unfriendly, and overall not very pleasant. I first ordered a Banana Foster's Martini, but she came back and said they didn't have the ingredients. No problem--I asked for an Espresso Martini instead. A few minutes later, after bringing everyone else's drinks, she returned and simply said they couldn't make that either and asked if I wanted something else. At that point, I just declined. When it was time to order, our table had nine people. She took my husband's order, then went around the table taking everyone else's order. By the time she got back to me, she said, "Okay, is that it?" I had to remind her that she hadn't taken my order yet. I ordered the crab and corn bisque, a salad, and the stuffed catfish with creamed spinach. The salad came out quickly and was very good. Then everyone else at the table received their meals while I only received my bisque. After waiting, I was told my stuffed catfish "didn't come out right" and had to be remade. At that point, I honestly wondered if it was a joke. It wasn't. By the time my entrée arrived, everyone else was nearly finished eating. To the restaurant's credit, they did remove the stuffed catfish from my bill, and I appreciated that. However, the entire experience left me feeling overlooked from start to finish. My biggest suggestion would be for our waitress to work on her customer service. A smile goes a long way. Saying things like "Give me that plate," slamming cups onto the table, and appearing annoyed throughout the meal doesn't create a welcoming dining experience. Hospitality is just as important as the food, and I hope this feedback is taken constructively.

And the fact…read morethat you have that much time on your hands to TEXT yourself imposing as someone else trying to prove a point how "clean" your establishment is, is ridiculous and absurd!!! And shows how disgusting your place of business really is. SEE UPDATED PHOTOS BELOW! On March 23, 2025 I purchased crawfish from B&T seafood and was absolutely horrified to find a hair scrunchie with actual hair still tied to it mixed in with my food. This is beyond disgusting and completely unacceptable. It raises serious concerns about the establishment's hygiene, food safety, and overall cleanliness. What made this situation even worse was how the business responded. When I brought this to their attention, they showed no concern, no accountability, and no professionalism. Instead of apologizing or offering any type of resolution, they responded with dismissive, passive-aggressive remarks, essentially telling me I'd be "surprised" by the things people find in food--as if a scrunchie with someone's hair in it is a normal or acceptable occurrence. I am disgusted, disappointed, and frankly, traumatized by this experience. Not only was my food completely inedible, but the business also refused to acknowledge the severity of the issue. They have made no attempt to resolve this--no refund, no apology, nothing. Their lack of basic hygiene and their unprofessional attitude make it clear that they do not value their customers' health or trust. I am filing this complaint because this business needs to be held accountable for its negligence. A hair scrunchie in food is not a small mistake--it is a serious food safety violation that should never happen in any restaurant. I expect this matter to be addressed immediately. I urge the BBB to investigate this establishment, as their complete disregard for cleanliness and customer safety is deeply concerning. No one should have to go through this kind of experience when purchasing food.
