The staff are quite friendly and helpful. The animals are plentiful. Education and sights can be exciting, if you're not too keen on walking the park, they do offer guided tours on little shuttle buses or even private tours. The lines for certain animals can be long but they move rather quickly. There's a few shady spots and plenty of seats throughout the park. One thing I don't recommend is if you require a walker, there are a lot of hilly areas while walking the park. Lots of little dining areas and cute merch to buy to support the animals as well! You can easily bring your own food and drinks; they also have bottle refill stations for water. Make sure to check out park ticket deals on Groupon, through your work place, or online to ensure you get the best deal for you.

It honestly is super exciting to be able to take a group of ninth graders from National city to the wild animal park. The majority of these students have never been there and seeing their enjoyment is almost as amazing as taking your own child as a toddler. I currently am obsessed with the platypus and the kangaroo here. There's so many amazing animals and the Safari Park does a fabulous job of caring for them and breeding them and educating the public about endangered species This is my absolute favorite day, except in the deadly heat of summer I'm going to plan a trip this winter when my kids are home from college. You can easily see everything in about 2 hours MAX, so full price admission feels pretty steep. We go more often because through CalFresh/WIC you get discounted tickets, and they also have great veteran discounts. Parking can be tough, and there aren't many handicap spots close to the entrance. If you're visiting from out of town, it's definitely worth pairing with a day exploring La Jolla, but I wouldn't plan on the aquarium being a full-day activity.

The area with the touch pools has a gorgeous view of the beach & ocean as the aquarium sits up higher so you'll have a great view for photos. We thought they had a great selection of sea life to view. They had several different types of Jelly fish & several different species of Sea horses. I absolutely loved seeing the Sea Kelp Dragons, they are so cool to see. The bathrooms were clean, the gift shop was nice, and all of the staff we interacted with were friendly. They also sell produce grown on the farm, along with drinks and snacks you can enjoy while walking around the grounds. They offer upgraded experiences for an additional cost if you want something more hands‑on. We went on a bright, sunny day, and it was HOT -- definitely recommend sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and comfy walking shoes. I was in heaven here. First off it's huge and you are allowed to feed and pet ALL of the animals! They have so much to see! Cows, pigs, camels, and even a zebra!! All of the animals were super friendly and adorable. We even saw the smallest mini horse ever that was so cute. There are also cats that roam the property and one of them followed us throughout the whole place. Can you ask for a cuter tour guide?! They also grow their own produce and sell eggs. We picked and cut our own pumpkins and left with some duck eggs as well! Overall this was just the most fun experience I've ever had. Plenty of free parking available right infront of the sanctuary. There is a cute little shop attached to the sanctuary, where you can buy their handmade truffle chocolates which are so delicious (coming from someone who isn't a fan of truffle chocolates), fresh farm eggs, honey, and other delicacies. With your zoo "ticket" you get 2 free samples of their chocolates and a hefty bag of feed for the animals. The animals are mostly in their own pens, with some together. There's even a couple of the pigs you'll find out of pens, just hanging out on the property, laying beside the building. You're able to go into the tortoise pen and feed/pet him as well, 2 people at a time inside the pen, as he does get anxious. You're not able to feed all of the animals, but for the most part you can. Each pen has a sign for which animals are ok to feed/pet and which are not. They are very calm and friendly, as long as you are too. They take the feed very gently and don't bite your fingers. On the weekends they offer pizza made fresh for the visitors, and have plenty of covered outdoor seating options to enjoy. They also offer wine tasting, but we did not partake, as we had just left a winery, but I'm sure it is quite enjoyable as well. Definitely a must stop if you're in the area and it's a 5 minute drive from the wineries!
