I tried on a purple cheongsam from the rack, which I believed fit well. Mrs. Tam noted it required slight adjustment at the waist, so we returned a week later to try it on and collect it. During our visit, I met another family whose mother had driven from San Jose, and whose daughter, the bride-to-be, had flown from Los Angeles to have a custom gown made at Dragon Seed. Upon trying my dress again, it fit even better than before. Observing the bride-to-be's dress, Mrs. Tam suggested a minor alteration to the shoulders. Her meticulous attention to detail and exquisite selection of gowns were truly impressive. My gown cost under $350, a price comparable to those found online. Having read other reviews, I can only speak to my own excellent experience. I was able to converse with Mrs. Tam in Cantonese for nearly half an hour, during which she shared insights about her business and its challenges. I would wholeheartedly recommend this shop.

I came around 11:30 on Friday and was pleasantly the only one in the shop. I let them know my budget was $2,000 and described the style I was most interested in. Grace was wonderful and took care of me! I picked out a few dresses I was interested in and while I found a few I liked, I ultimately was about to give up, but Grace said she had one more she wanted me to try. Well, it was the one. She brought it from the back and I fell in love. The dress was &1,999 and Grace confirmed I was ok with going over $2,000 with taxes and then alterations next time. I really appreciated that since it's normally not asked when you buy anything - they only mention the sticker price. Ultimately I said YES! Grace gave me the card of a seamstress they used to have in house, but I'm going with my own seamstress (though I don't doubt the recommended one is fabulous). I can't say enough good things about my experience with Grace. She asked me questions and chatted to make me feel comfortable, knowing I was doing something outside of my comfort zone. She did an amazing job with my dress, and she didn't charge me "extra" because it's for a wedding.
