The staff both office and grounds are very professional and friendly. The absolute cleanest bathrooms around! (Security key access only) My only complaints are 1. The washdown pressure where I keep My boat stored in the gated lot very low. Barely flushes motor. 2. The ramp at high water, or anywhere near that, is very difficult to use due to the angle of the ramp being very low. I can have all 4 wheels of my truck wet and the boat will still be entirely out of the water.

I had the best Keel Boat lesson today and it is accredited by the America Sailing Association Very important item when your trying to get charter a boat or sailing farther out, than to Sausalito or Almeda. Our instructor was Andy, a very witty and charming English Chap, who is an excellent instructor. I dare say my crew mates had a good time too and we really worked like team. I had an incredibly experience and I also feel that I learned a great deal today. I felt comfortable behind the tiler.

It's a huge time investment to commit two back-to-back weekends, 8:30-4:30. Phew. We were exhausted. But we learned so much, and from incredibly nice and knowledgeable people. I spent a *while* researching the other classes available in the Bay Area and figured out from asking other people that it's important to consider the size of the craft you'll sail while learning: if you hope to sail larger boats (20' and up) then learning on smaller keel boats like SEA's 16.5 Catalinas is ideal. You get really good on small, more sensitive boats and that makes you better on the bigger boats. In contrast, if you learn sailing on a 28' boat with on-board motor, you won't have as strong a sense of wind, wave, the feel of the tiller or the trim of the sail. And, if you learn in dinghies (dagger- or centerboards), you'll end up in the cold water of the Bay! Beyond the basics that I had hoped for in the course - teaching the syllabus required to learn all the basics of keelboat sailing - we were treated to great stories from the vast and varied experience of our instructors. They were warm, gregarious volunteers who shared their racing, cruising, crewing tales to round out our learning. Many of them had learned how to sail from SEA, too, and then were so turned on by what they'd learned that they kept coming back to classes and open sails. I hope to make it to membership events like open sails and races, and to take future classes to hone my skills, but I'm also excited that I learned enough to go sail the 22' boat we just bought!

It's about a mile and a half from the beginning of the parking lot to the end and back. There are bathrooms at Andy's as well at the beginning of the trailhead. The trail is along the water and you can see Mount Tam, the Richmond Bridge, and the East Bay in the distance as well as East and West Marin Island which are close in distance. Many birds like herons flock to this area. It's great for a stop to walk around if on a drive through China Camp.

But none of that makes up for the absolute disaster that is this marina's management. Power at the slips is unreliable--often dipping as low as 206 volts on a 50-amp pedestal, well below safe standards for sensitive equipment. Report basic maintenance issues, like leaky spigots, and you'll be met with silence. Maybe it's a revolutionary self-cleaning dock feature that I'm not privy to. Far more troubling, though, is the culture of selective rule-making and enforcement. Pat, the harbormaster, zips up and down the dock on a scooter, seemingly deciding who gets harassed and who gets a pass. Christine splits her time between marina duties and bartending at the yacht club, bringing inconsistency and attitude to both. In fact, the dysfunction here is so pronounced that it made headlines. A Marin Independent Journal article from 2013 (with several follow-up updates) details a surreal incident in which a marina regular bit off Pat's finger during a dispute in the vacant lot next door (now occupied by the housing development known as "The Strand"). The man had been building a catamaran out of Home Depot parts--destined for Hawaii. Sounds unbelievable--until you've spent time here. Then it just feels like another day at Loch Lomond. I briefly served as the entertainment director for the yacht club, and while the members were gracious and welcoming, their warmth couldn't compensate for the mismanagement that defines the harbor itself. They're friendly, funny, helpful, considerate while also respecting the customers' privacy. They have all the stuff that the guests would need for a dine in, and all mounts/holders yacht friendly. I planned spending the day in the yacht for my spouse's bday and he was mindblown. Captain Timothy offered and helped him with the champagne sword, and he just loved it. There would be cheaper yacht options available, and the yacht which cost $700 for 3 hours want the pricing i really wanted, but I was keen on this one since it has lot of amenities...cabin, speakers, microwave, refrigerator, heaters, blankets,cutlety etc. It was worth every penny, and I definitely highly recommend this one to anyone who wants an amazing dayout experience. The yacht is tidy and I'm sure you'll find everything you need there.

Our friends(Lisa and Brian) invited us to join them on Great Expectations); a Sailing trip to watch The Blue Angels take flight over the Bay Area! Literally enjoyed the: blue skies, the company of sailing boats on the water, delicious hors d'oeuvres, and excellent company! Captain Brian-kept us moving along with comfort. We spent the day-Looking Up in the sky at the stunning planes especially --- the U.S. Navy Blue Angels! Loved the experience and welcoming vibe of this club. This beautiful Yacht club is located in Brickyard Cove. RYC 's location and facilities make it a premier venue for a great variety of yachting activities. The club's location offers almost immediate access to the Bay and is ideal for both racing and pleasure sailing in boats large and small. Everyone we met was over the top friendly and welcoming-but I also think Lisa and Brian know everyone. Harbor master…read moreis friendly, dock is modern, dock boxes are easily three times larger than Clipper and unlike other marinas you don't have to share a bathroom with some random restaurant or office park. Sheriff's Dept. keep its boats there and maybe that's why nobody has stolen as much as a winch handle even when I forget to lock up all winter. I have a 32" but I've seen yachts much larger and smaller (including a couple kayaks tied up on B-dock). Easy parking, clean bathrooms, fresh water and reliable shore power at every slip. Views of Bay Bridge, SF, Tiburon/Belvedere and Mt. Tam. Been there a few years and don't have a single complaint. Love that you can auto-pay rent on a credit or debit card w/o a fee. Richard bay marina is the place for me.
