Freedom handled our packing, moving and furniture storage quickly and efficiently in a highly professional manner- I think you would call it white-glove service. Before calling for estimates we tried packing our own kitchen-ware, small appliances, closets, artwork, etc., but soon gave up and called three companies for an estimate. After two other bidders had come, Mike Federico, the Freedom rep was so much more professional and knowledgeable in outlining the process and costs and giving references. After calling two references and checking online references we signed with Mike. On moving day the clean, well-dressed crew was a whirlwind setting up the boxes, packing the china and breakables in bubble wrap, cutting up boxes to protect our paintings, bubble wrapping lamps and putting them in heavy cardboard boxes and essentially taking the job out of our slow and inefficient hands and getting a big job done in six hours. They didn't waste time gabbing and moving big heavy furniture was like a well-choreographed dance. Not only were we extremely pleased but they saved us $4,250 in storage charges! I seem to recall Mike saying they are a third-generation company so it's not their first rodeo. I hired this company thinking they would be different than all the other moving companies. My family and I did 90% of the work. They just had to get the big items which really wasn't much. They damaged a bunch of stuff and are taking no responsibility whatsoever. Ive contacted multiple times and now i'm being ghosted. They charged my credit card the day before the service WITHOUT my consent. The guys weren't even there the whole aloted time. Worked 2 hrs and stopped for lunch before finishing the job. Left the paperwork at My house with all of my signatures.The items I can see that are broken are high ticket items. They were too busy talking and hanging out so the time would go slower. Because they work by the hour I've emailed and called and can't get a call back or email. I don't even know what stuff they stored if it's damaged. customer service is not their forte. Friendliness is not their forte. Good work is definitely not their forte. Needless to say, I'm more than unhappy about how they have handled this. read more

I paid a premium fee for packing and moving from Brooklyn, NY to Buffalo, NY. Items such as suit jackets were found balled up in boxes with heavy books. Boxes marked for specific rooms contained items for other rooms. Everything was haphazard, sloppy, and unprofessional. The movers were fast however, they packed boxes as if they were trying to gain time in order to meet a deadline. I am still finding things so poorly packed as to be ruined. Mayflower has a reputation for professionalism and quality work. I paid for what I thought Mayflower's reputation warranted. I was wrong. The packing was slipshod, i have items that may be found in boxes poorly marked, or not found at all. An example of this, I went through a box marked "books" and found a Burberry coat that had been hanging in my daughters room. It was balled up under sone books and still on the hanger. This move was clearly done with no regard for professionalism. I will never use them again, as will none of my colleagues, friends or family. read more

Our move at the very end of 2023 (right after Christmas) went about as smooth as possible. The moving team was so super professional and diligent in packing our furniture and breakables. It was hard to believe they got the whole house packed up in a couple of hours. Finally, they knew we would be in a new house with nothing so the went out of their way to deliver on New Years Day. We hired United Van Lines's local agent Liberty Moving & Storage for our cross country move out of New York. Here's what they got wrong, which added unneeded stress to our move: - The time the movers would arrive - The number of movers coming to our apartment - and most importantly, the estimate Our estimator Steve wrote me, "I am confident the most recent inventory would fit in two containers". And guess what, it took 3 (and it wasn't even close to fitting in 2), which means we had to pay for a third container, raising his estimate by approximately 20%. Sure, there are no guarantees. But why go through the time and trouble of bringing an estimator into your home if the estimate will be that far off? If you read lots of moving reviews, you expect there's a good change you'll be taken advantage of. But it still feels pretty bad when it happens. It takes a lot of time and effort to bring an estimator to your home and go through the inventory and the options. It's an investment, and after you bring in a couple you won't want to spend the time to bring in more and more. So my suggestion is try someone else. Either he didn't do a very good job with his estimate or he purposefully suggested it would be smaller to get our business. Whichever is the real reason, it's not worth calling. Save yourself the trouble and skip Liberty Moving / Freedom Moving / United Van Lines / Colonial Van Lines, whatever they are calling themselves here. Hopefully you will find an honest business and have a better experience than we did. read more

A nightmare. The move from hell. Coming and going. Underestimated the weight; sent trucks that were too small; they were supposed to take three days to pack and load but by moving date that became one. Rushed, jammed my stuff into trucks that were too small; snapped legs off of tables; left stuff behind; went through my personal papers in my desk; When we got to the new place they threw my boxes and furniture just anywhere. I'm still searching unmarked boxes for lamps and clothing; Stacked heavy boxes up to the ceiling. And then told me I owed them another $1500 on top of the $15,000 I already paid. Interstate moves are always stressful, but this group nearly killed me with their incompetence. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Their sales reps talk a good game and sell you a bunch of BS. Wow! Can't say enough great things about my experience with Freedom moving. Everyone from the project manager, Matt, to the 3 movers that showed up on move day, was phenomenal. They handled our items with care, went above and beyond to pack loose items, and were a pleasure to work with throughout the move. I am giving 4 stars because we did not go forward with them as a moving company so could not say it was five stars. However, based on my experience with the estimator and moving coordinator at two different locations I think it would be. The quote was competitive in both instances and they went above and beyond to get us scheduled when we had an issue with our current carrier. I greatly appreciated their efforts and would have been glad to have them complete the move for us. One thing I did learn through this process is each office is franchised so when you are looking at reviews look at the particular location you are booking; poor reviews may reflect that fact. If you are considering a move using Freedom in the New York area and are lucky to have Lori and Marivel to work with, you are in good hands. They were outstanding! read more

This was my second move with the Freedom/Liberty group and am once again impressed with the process from start to finish. Our salesman, Stephen Talenti, answered every single one of our questions and checked in along every part of the process. He really personalizes your move and ensures every little thing is taken care of, just an absolute pleasure to deal with. The moving crew was great, every piece of our furniture was fully wrapped and covered to ensure there are no issues with after delivery. What I really like is the company holds the moving crew responsible for part of any damage incurred during a move so that is an extra incentive for them to do their job the right way. We carefully considered 4 bidders for our move from NJ to NH after reading various reviews. We chose Freedom first because of Lori, the estimator, was very responsive and supportive in addressing all the usual concerns anyone should have when dealing with a long-distance move. She was quick to return calls and emails and made us completely comfortable throughout the evaluation/quotation process. Then from Marivel, our coordinator, to Jimi (driver/lead on the actual move) our expectations were exceeded in every respect. Marivel was available at all times during the move and was very quick to return calls and get answers. Jimi and his crew was well trained, pleasant and good-spirited during pickup and delivery, even when dealing with a couple of heavy and large pieces fitting through some tight spaces. They cushioned, handled and protected all our possessions very carefully. I would not hesitate to use Freedom based on my experience. read more

An absolute nighmare of an experience on a long distance move. Truck showed up 4 hours late in pickup day. No call, no nothing. Driver said they had a dead battery on the truck. On the day before the promised delivery, I had heard nothing from them, so I called and was told our delivery was "delayed." That's it. No explanation other than "delayed." Once again, no phone call, no communication at all. I had to track them down. We were stuck in a hotel for SIX days waiting to hear back. They finally delivered through a local carter (Not the same ones who loaded us.) They had no inventory sheet so we had no idea if we were getting everything. They told us Freedom never sent the inventory. All our furniture was nicked and scratched and the wardrobe boxes were totally crushed. We were then told we were entitiled to a $100 per day "refund" for the late delivery, which does not even cover the cost of the 6 nights in the hotel. Eight weeks later still no refund. Oh, and our "coordinator," the woman who lied to us at every turn, is no longer with the company so we are back to square one. Also, we originally contracted with Liberty Moving, which has a number of addresses in the NY/NJ area as an agent for United Van Lines. When the guys showed up on moving day, the paperwork said "Freedom," not Liberty. The truck said Liberty (and United Van Lines) and their tee shirts said Mayflower. By the time you're done you have no idea who you are actually dealing with. The foreman told me Liberty bought Mayflower but they do business as Freedom. Its a head spinner. Believe it or not, we were very careful and got quite a few estimates. Comfortable with United Van Lines, we went with these people but the truth is, United franchises these outfits, so you must be extremely careful who you sign with and I suggest, get EVERYTHING in writing. read more
