I reached out to local painters and received various bids, but ultimately went with Honest Guys Painting. Their bid was competitive, (not the lowest and definitely not the highest!), detailed, and they were able to get me on their schedule rather quickly. This was a big painting/staining job; two-story house with a wrap-around porch, tongue and groove ceiling, large deck and detached ADU/Shop. Nick and his crew showed up on time every day and got straight to work, ensuring that everything not getting painted was covered and safe. They worked as a team, methodically prepping and priming the entire project prior to painting and cleaned up the site at the end of the day with absolutely no drama! Nick was easy to communicate with by phone, text or in person, he frequently updated me on weather forecasts, their progress and we were able to color match the original "Obsolete" house paint, deck and ceiling stain colors perfectly. Since I've retired and living on a fixed income, this was a lot of money for me to spend and I feel like I made a good deal. The work was rushed and done improperly: no surface preparation, wrong materials, painting over spiderwebs, raw wood, and flaking paint, using indoor filler on exterior surfaces, getting wood chips stuck in the paint, overspray left unprotected, and using cheap or interior paint while refusing to show the buckets despite claiming it would be high-quality. He was kind at first, but when we asked about the issues clearly visible in the pictures, hoping for resolution, he said it was his best work and treated us poorly. We remained respectful and professional throughout, though his behavior was unprofessional and upsetting. His response contains inaccurate statements that reflect his behavior, not ours. After reviewing the estimates and talking to different painters, I landed on Oly Painting. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. The hardest part of the project was selecting the color. Once we did that, we scheduled the paint job. Sache said it would take 3-4 days, and he was dead on. Every day he would check in in the morning and let me know what he was going to do and at the end of the day he let me know what was done. Excellent communication. Walls were painted wonderfully and all the nicks and dings of 25 years of use were fixed. Definitely pleased. Bergen took accurate measurements and did the necessary calculations. In this inflated economy, I didn't mind paying the asking price because I knew I was going to get a good quality repair and paint job. A few months later, the house was pressure washed. DJ and John were very diligent with ensuring the mildew on the fascia boards located on the roof were cleaned--and they delivered! I inspected all around the house and the house was cleaned to my expectation. Two weeks later, father and son carpenters Mick and Jones worked very hard to replace the dry rotted T1-11 siding boards. Each of the panels are 9' x 4', and the repairs warranted 5 panels. Dry rot existed on the chimney box siding, and sidings by the kitchen and back of the house. Mick and Jones are very skilled carpenters, and they worked diligently and efficiently. I am very pleased with the repairs! A week later, the painting commenced. I was very PARTICULAR with the painters. I presented my attention to detail in a professional manner...the painters were very receptive to my requests. I met with lead painter, German and communicated to him the fine details and personal touches I wanted to be done. German, Miguel, Pascual and Miguel are very skilled painters.
