Genuinely a POS business. They are straight up scamming people. I already wrote this review once and then mysteriously disappeared. I'm an additional owner to my dad's policy since January 13, 2026. I have been sending you money to cover my car just to find out that you got the wrong year and the VIN number of my car and then the silly little woman on the phone is saying that they can't reimburse us because after they fix their mistake and now cost more, were you dropped on your head miss? I have been giving you money for five months now for a car that's not mine. My car was uninsured and if I were to get stopped or get into an accident, I will be uninsured. You bet your bottom, fucking dollar you are so lucky that I am not the original policy holder cause I would shut this whole bitch down. Please be careful with this insurance company and do your research. My father explicitly requested to be sold a commercial policy. Unfortunately, they took advantage of my father who knows a bit of English and was sold a non commercial policy. He was charged $440 dollars for policy that does not extend any coverage for the kind vehicle he drives. It's been a headache to get my father reimbursed!! A little story. I came in after hearing about Freeway insurance through the radio looking for a better/cheaper policy for my vehicle. One of the employees ran my report and gave me a quote. They did their job, found me a cheaper provider and ran everything with me. I eventually signed with Stonewood insurance which Freeway had quoted to be a lot cheaper than my current insurance at the time. I paid the downpayment of nearly $400 and Freeway had actually told me this downpayment will go to my next bill. (I will explain this shortly). After I signed papers about a month later I received my first bill with Stonewood. This is where everything just became a mess. The first bill was considerably much higher than what I had signed for and what was originally quoted to me by Freeway. I called Stonewood and asked them what the problem was and they had mentioned that Freeway insurance had quoted me incorrectly. Apparently they did not count one of the two accidents I had in my history. I ask that I be taken off the policy because of the incorrect report that Freeway insurance ran however. Stonewood politley agreed to my decision and when I asked how much of my downpayment will be refunded to me they told me $57 and umteen cents will be returned. I asked them that cant be right because I paid nearly $400 to Freeway insurance who told me that the downpayment will be sent to my premium. Stonewood suggested I call Freeway to ask where the rest were. So here I am calling Freeway, frustrated about the false quote they had orignally ran by me. I told them what the issue was and demanded my refund. Heres were the shady business comes into play, aside from the false quote that they ran and the contract I had signed (because of the false quote) Freeway told me that they owe me nothing. Apparently FreewayInsurance didnt lie when they said that the downpayment was going to my first bill, however what they failed to mention was that they charged over $300 for their services. Of course this was my fault because I should've known Freeway would charge me money since they are brokers. However, I did not realize how much they would charge! And to top it all of this was not mentioned. I went home, went through all my papers and there I saw in the small fine print how much they actually charged. A bit of a warning, 1)make sure the quote they run is real! They will pull any tricks out of their hats to make you sign that paper. 2) be aware of the ridiculous high fee they charge that they do not verbally mention! 3) Yes your downpayment will go to your first months bill, however only a small portion of that is actually going to your insurance! 4) Remember these are Brokers, they will find an insurance company for you and thats all. If you want, you can walk in, ask for a quote and they will give you an insruance provider, tell FreeWay that you are actually not interested in signing. Go home, call the insurance provider they had quoted you on and sign with them personally. Bam, free business without the ridiculous $300+ fee 5)Report any bad business to the Better business bereu. I just wanted to say that I am very satisfied with the great customer service that Deisy provided me with. I went into the Freeway insurance office in El Cerrito and there customer service was in my opinion terrible. I wanted to remove a car from my policy and for some reason the rep couldn't figure out how so he decided to go about it a different way which was faxing a paper directly to my insurance company. Where Deisy comes in- I received a phone call from Deisy who works at the San Leandro office because they had received a call from me the day prior and basically she was checking in. I told her that I had already gone to their El Cerrito office and had removed a vehicle from my policy and I also told her that I didn't feel the customer service was great, that they had trouble removing my car and I was frustrated. We hang up, she calls back to let me know that they didn't remove the car from my policy, that they had put an incorrect policy number that didn't match with mine. Deisy took care of everything for me without me even anticipating her to go through and make sure things were done right. She deserves recognition for that. Their brokers provide misleading information and give you insurance based on incorrect applications being submitted to the partner companies. They have horrible customer service representatives that also give misleading information and give you the run around if you have any pressing issues your trying to resolve. I heard about their $15 dollar a month auto insurance and bit into the scam immediately. Who doesn't want to pay less for car insurance, especially when your note is relatively high. But let me tell you it's nothing like that at all. When I got there they fed me this bullshit story about my meeting certain qualifications etc... Told me that my insurance will only be roughly $50 a month, however I must put down $265 plus to start. Come to find out freeway insurance is not an insurance company at all but rather one of many people involved in the contract that your money is going to. When I canceled only two weeks later I was informed that I owe $50 cancellation fee....Wow!!! Then when I got my bill in the mail it was for $83. Oh no... no option to give them zero stars...They suck...it's a scam , a fake company. My experience : I got an phone call from them saying its special discount week , I am lucky...really , The rep asked for 300 dollars as agents fees excluding monthly insurance from a third party company to which i denied , she asked how much i can pay as agent fees to which i agreed for 150 dollars(that's cray too) ,so i did some paper work online they got my credit card info I paid like 180 dollars total that day and 10 days later my card got charged 155 dollars again when inquired they said it was pending balance which i agreed to pay later..but the thing is i never agreed as the deal was 150 dollars after calling and explaining everthing the rep(this time a guy) says he cannot do anything and can revert 50 dollars at max stating it as overdraft fee revert. I am still waiting for that 50 dollar pay order till date. My advice: Don't run behind such agents which charge you 300 dollars as agent fees, but how could you realize it when they never mention it (they hide it) and will keep repeating things which you would like to hear like 'discount' alteast 20 times and end up pay more than you thought...seriously go for well known Insurance companies who will charge 5 dollars extra every month but you will be saving and assured that your claims will accepted. read more

Sometimes you can smell a bad deal before a person begins talking. 1stly, the agent looked like she had just rolled out of bed & her attitude was similar to one who was on their way out the door anyway (nonchalant & lacked professionalism). I was quoted over the phone only for my car, I wasn't asked any questions about my history. I walked in prepared to pay something similar to my quote. However, I would've been charged double, damn near triple had I stayed. The unprofessional agent tried to portray as though I didn't understand what she was saying. My job as a customer was to get the best deal possible FOR ME, as I pressed for a better deal, she on a couple of occasions cross referenced with 2 separate policies as one (her bad, but my money was on the line). Then I became very alert, remaining positive. I told her I'd like to go home make a couple of calls then return if I couldn't get a better deal. She portrayed as though there couldn't be a better deal out there. Got up, told her manager I was "about to walk", they got another guy to help her but instead she disappeared for 8 mins. In her absence the other guy said he'd be right with me, he "looked" confident, so I sat about another 2 mins. The unprofessional / nonchalant agent returned, the guy was gonna jump in to help but the agent was adamant about not needing his help. You better believe my alert button was super buzzing in my head. By this time I was sure I didn't want to do business with Freeway Ins. Something kept telling me to follow my 1st mind about not doing business with them off the bat immediately after the intro with that agent & boy am I glad I did, I went to Dollar insurance on Pendleton in Oakland, Yep, I paid a little higher on my down payment only $50 ($200 down with my 2 pts) but my monthly bill is about $15 cheaper than Freeway. Just a side note/rant from my experience: I'm a stickler for professionalism & if I'm gonna get the shaft, I at least want to feel good about it. Someone telling me they've been doing their job for over 10yrs then tell me I'm "not understanding" what they're saying when they're the one mixing info from 2 different policies probably shouldn't say that to anyone. Showing up Monday for work looking like you just rolled out of bed, sipping coffee from a dirty paper mug & getting smug with a caller in front of a "potential" customer says a lot about how you feel about your job. As a customer, I didn't feel valued. I stayed positive, taking my same attitude to a different company & got a better deal. HA! maybe it was my attitude, lol. Advice to any agent: Smile, be confident in the information you're providing. And don't be so damn money hungry. Oh & prepare the night before for work. Even if it is a Monday. Aren't they suppose to get it for free was my question and the guy that gave me a print out from the dmv said the same thing. Came back, they tell me I have to wait a year for my renewal.. Ok? Worst place ever! They scam you for your money and are so rude! One of the managers said that if I wrote a review and give them a 5 star rating, they would discount my rate. I mentioned to the girl Maria that I was not too sure about purchasing this particular insurance company and wanted to keep browsing. The young girl asked for my personal information to find a quote and unfortunately, I was not happy with the current offers. The young girl insisted on helping me and said that I needed to show proof of a debit card? I asked why and she said it was nessecerry. I was hesitant about giving my debit card number, However, the young girl repeatedly said that my card would not be charged for anything. To make the long story short, after sitting in the office for over an hour, I decided not to go with the insurance. After discussing this matter with the young girl, I thanked her for her time and exited shortly after. Two days later, I noticed that the insurance company that asked for my debit card number for reference, literally charged my account in the amount of $700.00!!!! Mind you, I didn't even purchase a insurance plan!!! I attempted to call them several times and speak with a manager and they said that the manger was gone for the day, in a meeting, on lunch or is off of work on vacation. My bank even attempted to contact them numerous times on several occasions and also received no response. I had to file a fraudulent activity claim and received my money back after 3 weeks!!!!! Had insurance with freeways for a year , was paying $314 a month full coverage ($15 a month my ass) , I guess freeways has insurance with other small insurances, they gave me "anchor general insurance agency , INC . This insurance company is in San Diego , look for it yourself . Even though I'm a new driver, I didn't have a car accident for a year instead of my insurance going down freeway was trying to raise it up . When I went to cancel my insurance 5 days before my next payment was due the representative was rude and told me that he would go ahead and send a cancellation fax to the insurance company and within 5 min I was going to be uninsured I told him I had payed up until the end of the week and my new insurance didn't start until tomorrow! I still had to get home , an accident is called an accident for a reason what if one happened on my way home , He sure didn't care even though technically I had payed up until the end of the week!!! I wasn't even fighting the $52.33 they technically were keeping by me cancelling early ! He was like "I'll submit it in 10 min ", I asked him to submit it in 15 to get home ya know which I doubt he did .. anyways When they sell you an insurance policy they're so nice but if you dare to go ahead and cancel they treat you so bad and don't even say thanks for a loyal year with them . I always deal with agent Anthony... My experience has been nothing but positive. As a "can't happen to me" teenager, I developed a terrible driving record... Nonetheless, I was still able to get reasonable coverage that I could afford. As for the customer service, Anthony always has time for my questions.
