I took my car to the body shop for a bumper and grill replacement, I received a quote from Mike, the price was okay, I agreed , I also asked for my car to be painted but was advised against it, said it would be about $6,000 I was told that the body shop could touch up the paint, and give it a good buff, I said okay. My problem is that the work was just okay, the body shop did a subpar job leaving knicks throughout the exterior, wax around my headlights. The car was presented to me while in a shaded area, so it appeared to be fine until I put the car in the sun, to take a good look, I was promised the car in two days, they didn't have it ready, called me with excuses that the part wasn't there, when I was told by Mike that he ordered the parts the day after we spoke, and confirmed the appointment. The day before I looked at another Camry he had but didn't like it. But he had just got in this other Camry that had been owned by one of his long time customers. Wandered in here while cursing DMV for insisting I take a 2 year old BMW in for a smog check because it came from out of state, while also cursing the silly accident that left the bumper a mess... After outrageous estimates from BMW and other places, Steve Jabourian and his colleagues casually mentioned they do body work too. No hard sell. Just amazingly kind, courteous, professional service. They had the car for a few days and even provided a rental car so there was no shlepping to another location or arranging a pick-up from a friend. In January 2023 I didn't know what I was getting into when I purchased a 1977 Chevy van off eBay. Turns out there's a lot of mechanics unwilling and or unable to work on an old van that needs a lot of love. I had two instances where I had my van in this shop. The first was to get it going which they did, and then once I got things going and could drive it around a bit, I learned that the previous owner took off all the smog stuff and that this stuff was hard to find. After months of searching and talking around I got most of what I needed. Heres where Brett and Sean were amazing. They helped me cross the finish line by recreating the smog system to stock standards. They helped me remove and replace the old exhaust manifolds and stuck in smog things. They were patient with me and were able to get the van to pass smog. What I like about working with this shop is that Brett is nicely communicative and honest. Sean was diligent in getting my smog system rebuilt. When it comes to what I was looking to do with the van, this was a wonderful place to go as they got my van up and running. When I went to smog the van for the state, the smog guy said that the person who reinstalled my smog system did an excellent job!! At first it was apparent that my battery needed to be changed, but more issues were addressed and they were transparent about everything. No accountability, Paul (low level tech) is an incompetent employee and Steve is an incompetent businessman if you want mansplaining, getting ripped off, and accusatory insults then go here! Story as follows: No stars if I could, please avoid this place at all costs!! Im an experienced manual driver (over 10 + years) and I never had an issue with mishandling my clutch. I drive manual because the smoothness and the experience of it makes driving much more enjoyable, so I intentionally drive stick shift. So I buy a Honda Fit last year manual, it already had almost 100,000 miles on it and then the clutch blew out. It's never happened to me before and even Brett was like "really? That's impressive" because it's something that normally happens. So I take it in and they es gave me a rather large invoice. I got a better deal from my usual go to mechanic. So as I was getting ready to get it towed out of there Brett convinced me to leave it and fix it cuz they matched the price. So they fixed it and I drove off and it was ok. I did notice the car drove differently and there was some leakage. I took it back and they basically mansplained to me that the AC does that. Mind you, it was so much liquid!! These guys had an excuse for everything!! Nothing is ever their fault. Because they are cheap. Just a few months later I start having trouble with my car again. I have since moved away from Pasadena but I had it tow it to them because of the clutch parts warranty. It was no surprise that they said it's my fault, that either someone was using it as a race car or someone new was learning on it, all this accusatory things from Paul. He even said when I first brought it in that I claimed that I didn't know what a clutch was??? Wtf!!! Of course I know what it is, and why would you bring this up if you want me to get my car fixed there! It pissed me off so much. Without Brett they basically will lose all business. Brett, you deserve better than this!! So they were trying to charge me another grand for the clutch part saying it's a good deal, such BS. Clutches don't go out that quick. Even a below average driver takes years to blow through the clutch. Steve the owner even secretary bet odds about me to me when he said to another colleague: "I bet the way that girl is driving she'll be back in a few months" what kind of professional says that? Much less to the customer?? He told me this out of spite.. I was dreading getting it towed to them because I knew they were gonna screw me over. They can send photos and post photos all they want but all of that is irrelevant because if it was installed incorrectly, of course there will be damages. The damages originated with them. I'm in so much shock with how much attitude I've received from them, they really need to re-train everyone, Steve needs a masterclass on how to talk to customers, I predict this place won't be around for long, I got screwed over once, not gonna let it happen again!! Please please ignore any response back and take your business elsewhere! This is not professionalism. If you do happen to find yourself here, please compare prices because I guarantee you that this place will overcharge you buy a lot!! Head to speedy transmission in Van nuys. I began bringing my Subaru to Steve years ago and he and his crew always took the time to thoroughly check the problem and advise of any possible issues and then explain in great detail while showing you on your car what the issue is. I had a phenomenal experience with Fremont & Purdon and was blown away by their expertise, tenacity and friendly communication throughout. I was in an auto accident in November 2020 and used another repair shop via my insurance for the repairs. When I picked up the car, the car was running so loudly I could barely hear the radio. It also felt different and slightly unsafe when driving. I'm not mechanically minded, and could never put my finger on what exactly in the car felt off, so I took my car to Fremont & Purdon for a second opinion. Right away, Fremont & Purdon discovered that my axle was bowed from the accident, causing an expensive issue with the transmission. I have been to Fremont & Purdon four times this year and they have come through for me every time. The first time I came to them was because I ordered tires from Tire Rack and they were the highest rated shop where the tires could be shipped to and installed. They also removed the fog on the headlights of my 2004 CRV and the difference is incredible. Second time was for a regular oil change and check up. Third and fourth times were due to stalling issues because my car is older. Turns out my car needed both O2 sensors replaced within two weeks of each other (just my luck!) and they were able to get everything finished in about 24 hours both times. Easy to deal with and a fair price. Will be back again. read more

Quick background: I first came to Fremont & Purdon (F&P) back in 1996 when I was fresh from college and driving a 1971 Opel. I loved that Opel yet she needed a lot of work and F&P saved me with that Opel. My parents then "upgraded" me to an '81 Thunderbird which - surprise! - had issues, and back I came to F&P. I remember working with Steve - who is still there - and he treated me like a brother, and even let me use a loaner car while mine was being worked on at the time. Super up-front, honest, professional, and friendly are how would describe the team at F&P then and now. The T-Bird died on me and I bought my first ever new car in 1998, and then moved to Northern California. That ended my frequent trips to F&P. I would always refer friends and family to F&P based on how consistent the service was for me, and I stand by this endorsement...these guys are solid! Fast forward to 2015, and my mother needed AC work on her Mazda3. My mom still lives in Pasadena-Altadena, and I immediately thought of F&P. I called and I spoke to Steve. I told Steve I was "that guy" with the Opel and Thunderbird from the 1990s...and he remembered me! During my next trip into town, I brought my mom's Mazda in for AC service and everything worked fine. I told Steve I'd post a positive Yelp review too, so this is LONG overdue. Since then, I've been nudging my mom to go to F&P because I know they would treat her fairly. Mom is older and keeps forgetting. I was just in town to visit my mother and the "check engine" light was on and I wasn't going to rely on my mom's tactics of doing nothing or going to another place for service. I went to F&P, they did a diagnosis, and it was the fuel pump. I was given a sound and thorough explanation on what needed fixing, and I'm grateful that mom's car was fixed. Just like always, the team at F&P was professional and courteous. I was happy to see that things never changed over at Fremont and Purdon. I took my Mercedes in after my brakes were FAR overdue. It was Friday mid-day and I was getting ready to go to Coachella for the weekend. I didn't think there was any way I would be able to take my car on the trip. Steve immediately checked out my car without an appointment and he said he could have the pads and rotors replaced that day and would have my car ready for me in a few hours. I was dealing with triple a for over a week with a faulty battery that kept dying on me. After dealing with Hassan at Action Towing (absolutely worst experience ever), 3 visits from Action Towing and refusing to replace the faulty battery, I was told I had an electrical leak some where, that a mechanic needed to figure it out. I took my car to F&P, Eric was extremely helpful. I explained what I was told, they kept the car overnight to see what the issue was. The following morning I got a call saying that there was nothing wrong with my car and the battery wasn't fully charged (if at all) when Action Towing replaced it. They charged the battery without incident. I haven't had any issues since and they didn't charge me a dime for their service. Thank God there are still people and business' out there that are looking out for the consumer. read more
