I've been going to Tri and Brian for a long time now. They are hardworking and honest people. I had trouble with my other car's O2 sensor just before smog renewal and went to them for the test. They told me that my car needs to be driven around to get more data in Order to pass since the Data was reset after the mechanic changed my O2 sensor. Went back after a few days and everything was ok. There are periodic reviews of this business that leads one to believe there is a scam going on. This business claims my vehicle would not pass smog inspection becuase it did not have catalytic converters. Intresting that we had our car inspected by our mechanic and he stated that they are up to something. All catalytic converters were intack and the vehicle passed inspection. The Tech at Fremont Smog Tests would not return our payment. I had come to this shop for a number of years, and had not had this problem before. But we will agree with our mechanic that there might be some issues going on. If this should happen to you, they will recommend another family owned business to repair. Very happy with this place. There was a time when I could afford to look for coupons to get good prices for smog checks instead of the posted prices you see once you get there and pay full price. Well, I no longer can afford to spend that kind of time. So, now I always stick the this place that offers reasonable prices without the need for coupons. Whenever it is time for a smog check, I call them to make sure they are open, ask for the price over the phone and then stop by. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes and their prices are super reasonable. They even offered some tips and a free retest when one of our vehicles failed the test in the 1st attempt (something to do with a recent battery reset that resulted in more data that needed to be collected in order to past the test). Dang, this place REALLLYYYY deserves the ratings, like truly. I received a late notice on my old corolla for the registration tags. I hadn't even received the first notice, so I was already in a panic. Went to Yelp and found Fremont Smog Test Only. I called ahead to see if I needed an appointment but the person who answered the phone simply said to come in, so I did. I parked my car and walked in and they took my paperwork and keys right away. Not more than 15 minutes passed when I was called up and asked a couple of questions - I had just bought a new battery a mere two days ago and so the owner said the battery didn't have any data on it, and I just needed ONE last check. To pass the check, I had to drive about 40 miles - 20 on roads, 20 on highway. I had time to spare so I did just that. He charged me $30 bucks for the initial test, and $6 for the second test. He told me I needed to get a new gas cap, and that the tires were very worn out. He was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and quick! I've never been in and out of a car shop that quickly before. I will be getting all my vehicles and family's vehicles smogged here from now on. Highly recommend! read more

Back again, got here at 8:15 am on a Saturday 8/28/21. I called at 8 am and he said I could come in the morning. He is working on another car as I got here. When he saw me approach he said hi, took my paperwork and my keys IMMEDIATELY. Told me it would be 15 minutes. My 2001 highlander has reached 20 years old! That means it now upgrades to STAR SMOG testing. It costs higher than the $40 for a regular smog test, star tests cost $48. At 8:30 am he called me and vehicle was done. Paid and out of the door driving home at 8:35 am. Go here and get an honest smog service. read more
