The food was good!! I enjoyed sitting out on the outside porch with my friend. You can see the water and some boats. I really enjoyed the main sushi, the first one shown. It was a rock roll sushi. The pad Thai was wonderful tasting too. As well as the chocolate cake.

I've been getting my sushi from here since they opened a few years, and everything is fine. The only gripe i have is if I have to pay extra for mango salsa it should be filled up to the rim. Please do better to fill the mango salsa to the rim. I don't stiff you on your money when I order my food . Thanks

Decent spot next to the water. Personally, I think it's one of the better tasting hibachis around Howard Beach. Nothing to write home about. Decent sushi menu. However, just your typical dining out. King Kong roll is a must try. Service was good.

4 stars- I came here on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Howard Beach and comes here regularly. We were looking for a sushi and I didn't want to wait until I got back to Bay Ridge on the way home from a trip out to Long Island. This a large space, a little dated looking, a large bar area with a great selection of Saki, beer, and liquors. The menu is one of the most extensive menus I've seen with the usual hot and cold appetizers, sashimi, sushi, entrees, Hibachi Dinners, deserts, etc. Prices are fair, service was what I call efficient and good. The server was nice although not super conversational. They are located right on the canal so you can get a nice view of the boats, docks and waterfront houses. They get pretty busy and are well established. One tip is to try and wait to order your entrees until you e had your appetizers. The food comes out fast although they don't rush you. We started with a bowl of Edemame and vegetable spring rolls. We had the Day Dream Roll which had with rock shrimps & guacamole inside and topped with fresh lobster, shrimp and crab meat in spicy mayo, mango & eel sauce. The Sesame Crusted Tuna roll-spicy tuna & avocado topped seared sesame tuna, served w. sesame saikgo sauce. We also had the Dynamite Roll-spicy crunchy tuna inside with spicy kani & crunch on top. For desert we had the Warm Chocolate Cake with vanilla ice cream. Overall a good experience and I would recommend them. Very good value for the money.

I like the location because it's next to the water, so I definitely will come back for sushi rolls. The parking lot is super small and the restaurant is on a major road so I would recommend carpooling or Uber. My co worker got an expresso martini and she hated it . It was giving coffee. I got a strawberry Marg and it looked sooooooo red( a lot of purée). I was thinking it was going to be bad but it was okay. Hibachi is mid here. You know how hibachi be good the next day? Yeah , no not this lol. It was the same. but this spicy sauce that came with the angel was so good . Snow White roll was super good as Well. And I had my first raw roll and babyyy it was goood af! Another co worker got egg plant and she enjoyed it .

The service was not good. Waitress was rude, not attentive and rather distracted. The food was not good. Ordered chicken teriyaki and chicken was undercooked, sushi did not taste fresh. I guess I'll give the 1 star for plating.

The staff is very nice and the service is pretty quick. I just wish they spaced it out a bit so we would have time to digest. We ordered multiple choices that I can't tell you them all. Just know that everything was fresh especially their sushi.

The experience at frenasia was a love hate experience. Something went very well and others not so much. I came to frenasia with a big group around 6pm and we were seated immediately. The seating was adequate and we really liked that they were able to accommodate us despite the timing. Food: We started with three orders of the tempura appetizers, they came with two shrimps and some tempura veggies in each order. It was good but not much to really write about. Two of us ordered the noodle soups, one was a beef boodle soup with pad thai noodles, and the other a seafood udon soup. Both soups were delicious, i especially loved the calamari in the seafood noodle soup, i was skeptical because of the thick size of the calamari but it turned out really well. If the dinner experience only consisted of these noodle dishes i would probably give this a 4 or 5. We ordered three hibachi dishes mainly chicken and steak but they weren't much to write about. They were good but didn't leave much of an impression. Ill keep it simple and blunt and say it was ok. The same can be said about the pad Thai that my brother ordered. The final dish is where the problems began. My brother in law ordered a rib eye steak combo and asked for it to be done medium rare. The outer cuts of the steak were closer to medium well but he thought it would get better as he gets closer to the center. Unfortunately the center was dry medium at best and he could not eat it. We alerted the staff and they were VERY NICE about it. They replaced his steak and everyone waited until he cut in to the center of the new one to make sure he approved. Even though it was closer to a rare he still approved because of how nice they were. I would like to give this place a high 3 or a 4 but besides the issue with the steak we also had issues with orders being forgotten and timing of when we received the dishes. We had to remind them that they forgot 1 of the 3 plates of appetizers and the miso soup that came with one of the orders. I would like to give them a 3.3 or 3.4 for their efforts but a 3 is the closest.

But this place completely knocked it out of the park. It far exceeded everything we anticipated. We were seated in a private booth, which made the experience feel even more authentic and intimate. Every dish that came out was absolutely delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented. They even provided a bell to press for service, and each time, the server appeared almost instantly with a warm smile. It's clear the owner and management truly know how to create and run a successful business--from the attention to detail to the seamless service and overall experience. We walked into a space that immediately stood out with its detailed decor, private dining booths, central bar, and playful Japanese-inspired design. The room had an energetic, immersive vibe that felt less like a traditional neighborhood izakaya and more like a night-out experience with elements inspired by Tokyo nightlife, the kind of place where the setting is as much a part of the visit as the food. The menu has a wide variety of dishes, but the yakitori and comfort food options are some of the highlights. We ordered a few items and found the yakitori selection offering plenty of choices and working well for sharing, with grilled skewers that paired naturally with drinks. The ramen, fried dishes, and other small plates made the menu feel approachable for groups where everyone wanted to try different things. The curry omurice was another standout, combining the comforting flavors of Japanese curry with the soft omelet and rice combination that makes the dish so satisfying. Each dish arrived hot and well assembled, and the variety across the menu gave us room to explore different flavors across the table. The atmosphere is one of the biggest reasons to visit. The restaurant has a fun, energetic vibe with city pop music, themed rooms, and decorative details that make the space feel like an escape from the surrounding area. The private booths and larger seating areas also make it a good option for groups, celebrations, or a more casual date night. We appreciated that the restaurant focused on creating a memorable environment in addition to serving food. The service was friendly and attentive during our visit. The staff were helpful with recommendations, and the food came out at a comfortable pace. The restaurant also has a strong drink program, with cocktails and sake options that pair well with the menu, and happy hour offerings make it a good place for a later evening visit as well. The main thing to keep in mind is that the restaurant prioritizes atmosphere and variety over being a strictly traditional izakaya experience. The menu covers many different types of Japanese dishes, so it may not feel as specialized as a smaller izakaya focused only on a few traditional items. It can also get busy during peak hours, so reservations are helpful for larger groups. The team moved through the room with efficiency, and the pacing of the meal kept the flow steady without feeling rushed. Overall, Izakaya Nana is a fun destination for Japanese food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere in Flushing. The combination of creative decor, comfortable group seating, and a broad menu makes it a place worth returning to when looking for a more entertaining dining experience rather than just a quick meal. The curry omurice, yakitori, and shareable dishes are some of the items we would especially come back for.

An Unforgettable Omakase Experience!…read more We celebrated the 4th of July with an incredible omakase dinner at Masaki, and it exceeded every expectation. Every course was beautifully presented, impeccably fresh, and perfectly balanced. From the delicate Red Sea Bream and buttery Scallop to the luxurious Toro with Caviar, Sweet Shrimp with Uni, and the unforgettable Eel with Foie Gras, each bite was a masterpiece. What truly elevated the evening was Michael, our sushi chef. He was warm, engaging, and exceptionally knowledgeable. He took the time to explain every course, the origin of the fish, the flavors, and the best way to enjoy each piece. His passion for his craft was evident, and his attention to detail made the entire experience feel personal and memorable. Dining at the sushi bar gave us a front-row seat to watch the artistry behind every piece. The quality of the ingredients, the precision of the preparation, and the genuine hospitality made this one of the finest omakase experiences we've ever had. First of all, we couldn't find the place because there is no signage. I guess that's part of the "charm"? But literally when we found it we didn't even know if the place was open. The gates were down, the windows were basically covered and nothing about the place was welcoming. We realized they were in fact open so we approached the door. We were greeted by a piece of paper stating "reservations only". We entered anyway and the place was EMPTY. There was one couple seated but other than that the place was EMPTY. The hostess approached us and I asked her if we needed a reservation and she said we did. So we said ok we'll come back another time and then she said, " well since it's pretty quiet tonight we can seat you." We should have left. We were in there for about an hour give or take and no one else came in at all. At all. Anyways, we ordered our food. I ordered the sashimi plate and my husband ordered a couple rolls. We also ordered the crab and avocado salad and the hamachi kama. Everything was basic. Nothing was amazing...oh except the price of the hamachi kama. Menu said market price and I get it, that means the price will fluctuate accordingly, but $60 for the hamachi kama? I almost fell off my chair when the bill came. I have eaten at very high end sushi restaurants and am almost 50 years old. I have never had a $60 hamachi kama. This one wasn't even tasty!!! It was not good or flavorful. Tasted like they just defrosted and microwaved it. I was wondering why i kept hearing a microwave go off but realized after the fact that that's what they must have done. I did not complain. We paid the bill. We left. Later that night I had stomach issues. Nicest way I can put that. I will say that i ate almost nothing that day so I can only attribute the stomach issues to the sushi. Needless to say we will not be back.

I don't know why I was surprised to discover this was in a strip mall, but that's on me. A nice one, at least. The place was relatively busy but we were able to secure a table easily with zero wait time. Pleasant vibes inside. I don't mean this as an insult at all but I was expecting more ethnic decor in line with the restaurant's menu - instead, it's pretty Americanized and feels like a classic suburban NJ establishment. I liked the painted brick on the lefthand side that has Blue Spice's logo/sign on it; spiffy. The bathroom was also a high point, which is...not something I say often. It was very clean and smelled nice, and I liked the dark cruise-ship lighting vibe. We decided to split the scallion pancake app, which was an excellent decision. I work in the city and regularly have this item from a place in Chinatown, and I honestly thought this was better, mostly because it was thicker/denser than what I'm used to. Super tasty and would get that again in a heartbeat. Giant portion as well - we split the pancake, which was roughly the size of a small pizza. My chum had leftovers there, I did not; so it goes with us. I've had a few mediocre chicken katsu experiences of late, so this seemed like a chance for redemption. I ordered the Akiko Curry entree, which was their spin on chicken katsu curry. Honestly wasn't my favorite. Again, a HUGE portion here and was only able to finish about 60% of it despite having a pretty legit appetite coming in. And the presentation value is excellent as well, as far as that goes. This could easily just be a personal palate preference, but I wasn't crazy about the curry itself (which had a weird tang to it) and didn't resemble the standard curry I'm used to with this dish. Also, as you can see from the attached, the curry is basically on the side of the dish, separated from the chicken and rice. Because of that, the chicken is on the dry side, which is my primary beef (pun?) with the item to begin with. So a miss for me, but I could see why other people would like this (and apparently do). The service was excellent, full stop. Our waitress was very nice and personable; she had strong command of the menu and you could see her consistently engaging with other patrons throughout our meal as well. She took several group photos so this is apparently a Kingdom of Sussex hot spot for that, which I wouldn't have guessed. She was so good both of us remarked on it multiple times during the meal, which is a rarity. But a great example of hospitality markedly improving an experience and making what was already an overall positive situation that much better. Huge marks there. Would definitely come back but would explore other parts of the menu once I feasted on the scallion pancake.
