She hardly came to check back on our table which left me with one less star rating. When I arrived they attempted to seat me directly behind the only 2 other people in the restaurant who, by the way, were very loud. When I asked for another table I was given attitude. Once moved the sushi chefs began banging at a volume I can only describe as the level one would hear at a construction site. When I asked if the banging would go on for a long time because I would move outside to eat if it was I was again given attitude. Still sitting waiting for my card as I type this. Came with a small group for an 8P reservation for hibachi. It took 15-20 minutes for our waiter (Kevin) to take the order for our drinks. We asked how long before the grill could be started and he told us to ask the hostess. When we asked her she assured us it wouldn't be long and we didn't have to wait for the table to fill up. That was a lie. It is now 8:54P, the table half full and Kevin is procrastinating, waiting for more people to sit at the table. We kindly asked for the check for our drinks. On to the next. I dined outside in the patio area. It's gorgeous and the food like always delicious. My one star rating has everything to do with Pauline "a server". She didnt take my order nor my food but was very quick to grab my checkbook, see $0 tip and ask where the tip was. She even went as far as to call the manager over to me. It's bad enough to give someone a check when it wasn't asked, but to open the booklet in front of me expecting a tip. Tips are based off service, respect, and personality. All of which this "server" clearly doesn't have. Had she not tried to be the BOSS maybe just maybe things would've been different. As it stands it wasn't. Any owner or manager who stands for treatment like this from an employee will not have repeated guests who truly have passion and loyalty for the community they love. By the way I did leave $2 as opposed to the $10 I left another server at a different establishment for simply apologizing for not being as attentive as she would've liked. Hey so I usually only use this website to read reviews and don't bother to comment but in this case, I literally need to say something because the whole experience was terrible. This has got to be one of the worst places I've ever been to and the food was definitely not worth the price for what they charged. To start, the interior of the place was well designed and that's probably what threw us off with the bad experience and the bad food. Aside from rolls, there weren't much to select from in terms of actual meals and we just missed the lunch hour specials by 30 mins (no biggie), but they're not worth paying the $22-24 dollars for the standard dinner price. In the end, my boyfriend and i settled for getting pad thai and chicken lo mein noddles because legit there was nothing else to buy and even then it's like.......... kinda pricey in my opinion. We tried to flagged one of the male waiters standing around to order but he saw us and literally did a 180 and ignored us, and then I tired to get another asian lady's attention and made a gesture that we were ready to order and she actually put her index finger up at me to shush me as she continued walking to whatever it is she needed to go oh my god.................... There's literally only like 2 other patrons in this place aside from me and the bf..................... Really, how busy can they be that they can't take 30 seconds to take our order? Anyway. The rolls came pretty soon. we ordered salmon and spicy tuna sushi and they were nice. Probably the only aspect I did enjoy aside from the ice water. Then our meals came and my boyfriend's lo mein literally tasted like they poured the entire bottle of salt over it because it was that salty and greasy and he couldn't even finish half of it. i was eating my pad thai and it was.... mediocre. Except it had some weird refrigerated aftertaste like as if the noodles were just taken out and reheated in some microwave. (lowkey I'm also wondering why they're serving lo mein and pad thai in a supposedly Japanese restaurant. but also I know good Asian food when I taste it because I'm Asian and those two dishes were quite below standard even without the weird aftertaste and high sodium flavoring and you can probably get something way better from a hole in the wall store in Main Street, Flushing.) Best of all I was chewing one bite when I realized there was a hair in the food and i had to take out the strand mid-chewing. It was so gross????? And I couldn't finish eating at that point. The bf ended up giving me his highly salted noodles because I barely ate my own dish, but after a few bites of his food my mouth got so thirsty from it and we just called it quits. The bf went to the bathroom while I called for the check. (I was told later on that the bathroom, quoting him, "reeks of subway grade urine" and I wouldn't even question him tbh because that sounded on par with our entire experience.) A waitress gave us a check and asked if we wanted to take our food to go because both of us barely ate and I had to tell her I don't want anything packed up and then brought the hair to her attention and showed her the short strand. She took it and spoke to the manager, and one thing I had to give this place points for is the fact that they didn't try to argue with us and the manager ended up giving us the option to cancel the order payment for the pad thai or allow us to get another plate of food. I declined and just wanted my order cancelled. We paid for our meal plus a tip, and then basically got out still starving and we ended up going across the street for pizza and soda, which was a way better deal and more fulfilling too to be honest. so basically TL;DR: 1. This place needs to get the cook a hairnet because we aren't the first customer to complain about the hair in the food issue if some of the previous comments are anything to go by, and he needs to lessen up on the salt flavoring for dishes. 2. 10/10 would not be going back 3. If you want some good pad thai or lo mein, there's better and cheaper options in flushing read more

I have ordered from this place numerous times and have dined in as well. Recently I went to dine at jnaround lunch time around 2 pm. Lunch specials end at 3. They made us sit for over 3 mins to order anything for us not to get lunch specials but didn't work out for them. Second the have a special roll for $10 on the take out menu and Grubhub and seamless but not on the dine in menu. When I asked if you could order it they said they would have to charge $16 for it. So ridiculous and o showed the waiter their own menu from the restaurant. Yes their sushi is good but who wants to support a business who tries to nickel and dime their customers. First time ordering while working in ozone park. I ordered a sesame salmon lunch special, A tuna avocado roll, and 3 pieces of salmon sashami. The salmon was way over done, and it was all white rice. I'm a regular. I'm used to the poor service and have managed to accept it in return for decent ambiance and location. That being said this past Saturday night 3/29/14 was no exception. I'll give credit : my lychee martini and my girlfriends "mojito" came fast for a change. i say mojito in quotations because it was rather a rum sprite mix with one mint leave floating on top. nothing i repeat NOTHING muddled inside. My lychee martini tasted like windex. I moved on from that to order the flirtini which was feasible. The tribecca (sic) roll has spicy salmon and crabmeat inside. Yet mine came with avocado instead of crabmeat. When I asked the waitress if it was supposed to have crabmeat she said no. I insisted on seeing the ingredients on the menu to which she held a menu open to herself and said "no no crabmeat" to which then I asked if I can see. After pointing directly to the word crabmeat under the ingredients for the apply misspelled tribecca roll, she said ok and took my dish. Within 60 seconds I had a new tribecca roll put in front of me which makes me wonder why did the first one take 20min? Regardless upon further inspection of my new roll I saw they inserted crab stick where the avocado was. Crab stick is not crab meat. The fun began when I presented my $15 restaurant.com coupon. My bill was originally $89.28. The new bill presented to me after applying my $15 coupon now read $105.28. Amazed and confused at how after giving a $15 coupon my bill actually rose $16 I asked the waitress for an explanation. She told me that when someone uses this coupon they automatically add 18% gratuity. I asked where did it state that is the proper procedure and she replied no where. I asked to see my coupon and I read it carefully and it does not say anything about adding their own gratuity. I asked to see the manager. The manager who knows me came to explain that he wants to make sure his wait staff is taken care of when someone gives these coupons. I explained how the guest will decide on how much of a tip is granted according to the service they recieve. He became standoffish in asking "what? The service was no good?" I explained how I had to send back a roll and the drink was horrid. Since he knew me he said he would give me 1 free drink to which I declined. If my bill was $89.28 and now comes back $105.28 that means not only did they add their $16 gratuity but they didn't even take the $15 off for my coupon! Maybe if the drinks were stronger they could have gotten away with that. Naturally at this point I was no longer cool and collected and I explained to take the $15 off and charge my credit card (so I have records) the waitress took my card came back to my table with the receipt and again added the $16 on!!! it now read $89.28 - $15 = $74.28 +$16 =$90.28 how dare them!!!! This was how the bill should have looked the first time around but when their first scam didn't work they opted for plan b. If I would have been stupid enough to fall for their tricks I would have paid $105 which is some $30 more than I should have. I crossed their tip out made sure my credit card was charged for the correct $74.28 and left that place for the last time. upon exiting the couple seated next to us said how our waitress has a reputation for being a b**** and we told them that we know we have had run ins with her every time we go!! if you have been here you already probably know who I'm talking about! sorry for the long review I just had to explain in detail. read more
