This review is from my visit in early June. The food was very good. The ambience was clean and had nice decor. The service was ok, the waitress brought us the bill without asking if we wanted dessert, which pissed my partner off. It was almost as if they were rushing us out and it was only like 7pm and the restaurant was not packed or crowded. Lunch on my day off as Hana Asian Bistro has been on my Yelp bookmark for a long time. I prefer to patronize businesses within my hometown New York City borough - Queens. I remember when this business opened more than ten years now. I concur with previous Yelp reviews that Ozone Park have very little food options for dining-in cafes and restaurants for many years and choosing Ozone Park is to go down the rabbit hole. I have chosen to patronized Hana Asian Bistro on a extreme heat, hot humid day which calls for sushi and sashimi. Sushi and Sashimi for one, $34.50 Chef's choice (Omakase) of 5 pieces assorted sushi and 10 pieces assorted sashimi with tuna roll and California roll. This platter is accompanied with either miso soup or salad. I decided on salad which is my default choice. I decided on hot Matcha green tea to accompany my meal. I did not taste any Matcha nor was there any putrid aroma as it was very weak and paucity. This platter was gargantuan as I was unable to finish it entirely. Salad - The lettuce was swimming in ginger dressing that was very watery. The one cherry tomato was not cut which is unusual. The cucumber was gargantuan in size as it is the largest I have seen embedded in a salad. Tuna roll - Fresh and I can taste the tuna. This was a pleasure. California roll - contains too much avocado and minimal cucumber. Tasted weird that I cannot finish as it was hard to swallow. There are giant screens that give a irksome strobe lighting effect. The dim LED lighting during my lunch makes it difficult to see especially reading the menu and gave me a headache while I sat hoping for phlegmatic disposition but was wamble. I saw an elderly man who walked-in after me dined alone for lunch and had to use a flash light. Customer service is average and provide reasonable accommodation to a seat neighbor with a flash light to view the menu. There is a full bar and large plasmas television screens to appease the sport aficionado customer. The drink menu is intense for cocktails and I wonder if the proprietor(s) monitor patrons' alcohol intake level for possible DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) offense. The extensive takeout menu also serve as the dine-in menu. Unlike the standard traditional, very conservative Japanese restaurant, Hana Asian Bistro fends a very bold modern Asian bistro, non-traditional atmospheric setting and targets the non-Asian clientele. Wooden disposable chopsticks are provided to preserve the traditional Japanese dining experience... at least. The background music is annoyingly boisterous loud playing either K-pop and R&B. There are two (2) facilities available and relatively clean. The interior of the facility there are no hooks for jackets, coats or bags as I had to place my bag on the door hinge. The hand air dryer in the facility does does not fully function as I inevitably dried my hands with a paper towel. The bathroom faucet sink appears to be Kohler brand which is very modernly unique large flat basin with edges for drainage. The large doors mirrors the main entrances' large doors for a dramatic appearance. The facade is heavily plastered with vexatious advertisements of their food and drink offerings. A gratuity guide is printed on the bottom of the sales receipt with intervals of 18%, 20& and 22%, ergo no math calculation is required by the customer. This business is very accessible by MTA NYC Transit buses Q52 SBS, Q53 SBS, Q22, Q41 and A train at Rockaway Boulevard via Cross Bay Boulevard near the Belt Parkway in Ozone Park, Queens, New York City. read more

The restaurant was spacious, clean, cool set up with multiple TVs and not busy at all for a Tuesday For food: The ordered an array of items such as the seafood boil ( priced higher than other known seafood boil restaurants) sushi, ramen, wine and Japanese sodas The 2 people who ordered the ramen both stated that the meal was barely warm - there was no steam coming from the bowls. The Sushi was ok, my seafood boil of crab & shrimp was overly salty and not flavorful at all. The portion size did not match the price. Came here for lunch. No wait and were sat down immediately. The place is GORGEOUS. Definitely very romantic. Date night or birthday worthy. The food was delicious. We got shrimp Shamai and pork buns for the appitizer. The shrimp was very flavorful and came with a sauce to dip in. The porn buns were really good as well. The buns themselves were sweet and with the combination of the pork, it made them very delicious. I would order these both of these again. For our entree, we got the lunch special which came with a soup or salad, and 3 rolls for $17. That was a great deal. We are huge fans of eel avacado since it's cooked, so my boyfriend and I both got that but he also got some California rolls and I got shrimp avacado. Queens is really full of very nice restaurants and I will never get to dine at all of them. However, I was fortunate to be able to visit Hana Asian Bistro and I really was quite impressed. They are located at a very small shopping center off the highway and the lot is somewhat cozy (there is more parking on lower level for those who are concerned about getting your car door dinged). It looks quaint from the outside but once you step in, you think you were transported to a banquet hall. The interior is very spacious (to the point where you can run laps around hypothetically), containing more than ample seating for large parties, couples and individuals. Along the back wall there are special booth style seats that will let you know right away this is not your run-of-the-mill Asian take out restaurant. And when you enter you will probably notice the large screen televisions along the back wall that showcase of some of their food photos and some live tv. You have to see it for yourself. They recently did some renovation and the displays look awesome. There is a fully stocked bar as you enter. They have a plethora of drink options including (alcoholic) signature cocktails, wine, beer, sake and soju as well as (non alcoholic) like soda, juice and bubble teas! The food menu consist of Asian fusion options with some western influence. Not only do they have a full alcohol bar, they also have a sushi counter. The menu offers appetizers, classic rolls (raw and cooked), vegetarian options, specialty rolls (always a must order), sashimi, sushi bar entrees, hibachi style dinner (no performance) fried rice, ramen (pork bone broth only with your choice of braised pork, grilled chicken, shrimp tempura or jumbo shrimps) and dinner bento box options. There is more to this portion of the menu you have to check out when you visit. There chef's special menu option that includes grilled filet mignon, rack of lamb and Chilean sea bass. These are higher end items but great for special occasions or if you want to eat something super savory. The fish was fresh. I was had the opportunity to watch the chefs cutting fresh salmon and tuna at some point during my visit. The spider roll is one of my favorite rolls and they prepared it well. My advice would be to pick your favorite type of roll and you will have chosen well. I was surprised to find they offer a seafood boil option menu with spice levels starting from zero to triple hot peppers. The options here include little neck clams, fresh mussels, New Zealand mussel, head-on shrimp, crawfish, head-off shrimp, snow crab legs and lobster tails. You can order individually or choose one of their special combo options. When it comes to seafood boil, I probably am impatient with all the cracking and peeling but I was with a group and it was fun and finger licking good...literally. And you know you always have to save room for dessert! You have choices like ice cream, tempura ice cream and oreo and sorbets. Not all the dishes will be to everyone's liking. But overall if you dine in, you will find something that suits your palate. There is no way for me to list it all here but with all this being said, I was very very surprised to find that this is a family owned restaurant. You can tell they appreciate every one of their customers and they put so much care of love into each dish. The staff is super friendly and polite. The menu was a bit daunting for me at first but they made some very good suggestions for rolls and entrees my guests and myself. There is an older lady there who would always check on us to make sure we were okay...like a mother checks on their children. I do not know everyone's name who was working that night but they certainly deserve the highest praise. A big thanks to the lovely and mysterious bartender who took care of my party and kept us well hydrated. She deserves a raise. read more

I really enjoyed it- and my companions loved their chicken pad Thai, their sesame chicken, vegetable gyoza and the tempura Oreos BUT the spicy combo made me super sick so stay away from the sushi. I ate the spicy tuna, spicy salmon and spicy yellowtail yesterday at 7pm and it has now been over 19hours and I'm still in and out of the bathroom. I was on my way to JFK airport I stopped here to grab a bite to eat. The restaurant was upscale and had a great bar. There was an entire wall devoted to TV screens which would be great during a sporting event or even the Olympics. The sushi was decently priced and delicious! The spicy tuna was spicy enough, not overly spicy. The sweet potato roll was good but not that exciting. The spider roll was creamy and well rolled. The MamaMia roll was described as having a lot of wasabi so I anticipated it being spicy but it was not! It was Smokey and had cream cheese on top. It was very good but I wish it was spicier. How things have changed since before the pandemic. This was one of the better spots in the HB/OZ area. Now, not so much. When we arrived, the restaurant wreaked of cleaning fluid. Granted you could be hit with worse smells when entering a sushi restaurant but this was very unpleasant. They have giant screens that give a strobe effect throughout the restaurant. Not great for migraine sufferers.... The server had a very difficult time taking our order. When we told her what we wanted, she repeated it back (to her credit) and it was wrong a few times. Our appetizers were served pretty fast and unfortunately so were our entrees. We were literally in the middle of our soups/salads and they were pushing our plates away to serve the entree. It was early afternoon and the restaurant was almost completely empty, they didn't need to turnover the table. Onto the food..... - Salmon Sushi - I took only one bite. It tasted a bit off and the color...the color was not any shade that existed in nature. It was neon orange. I thought maybe it was due to the weird lighting...it wasn't. - White Tuna Sashimi - Tasty but cut WAAAAYYYY too thick. Mouth feel was totally off. It was literally a big chunk of raw fish. - Boston Roll - taste weird - Philadelphia Roll - tasted ok - Spicy Tuna Hand Roll - more rice than tuna - Peanut Avocado Roll - tasty - Smoked Salmon Sushi - good, not great - Tamago - it tasted ok, but it was almost orange. We ordered takeout on a Saturday night. When I stopped in to pick up the food, it seemed like the restaurant was recently renovated. It has an upscale yet casual atmosphere with a nice bar area. Certainly, a nice restaurant to dine in. We shared the Sushi platter for 2. It was a filing portion and it had a nice variety of seafood. My small complaint was that there was only one piece of some of the seafood. I think it would be preferable if there were at least two pieces of the various items included so that each person could try each item given that the platter is meant for two. I had a really amazing time here. Honestly I have no complaints about the dinner at all. I love that there is free gyoza with a Yelp check in! The gyoza was juicy and tasty and rock shrimp was super delicious! I ordered a teriyaki salmon dinner box, usually places make the salmon very dry but here the salmon tasted amazing! The whole meal was really good. Their sushi is also fantastic quality. The servers are very nice too! My only complaint at all is that I wish they actually checked vaccination proof and don't just plaster it all around the restaurant for show. Absolutely love Hana! My boyfriend and I have been coming here for the past year and a half (both pre- and during COVID) and the food is always amazing and fresh! The rock shrimp and sushi/sashimi are must haves! The kitchen food is always hot and prepared per order and the fish never has an old, fishy taste to it. We've also tried their drinks and you'll definitely get your moneys worth because the bartender makes them so strong. Service is also great! Our waitresses usually drop by a couple times throughout the meal to offer refills on water and if we need anything else. We also visited yesterday (during COVID) and all staff were wearing masks and the tables were spaced out. I saw one worker spraying down the tables after the guests left so that made us feel really safe. Overall, I would highly recommend this place! I ordered pad Thai and oreo tempura for takeout. The oreos were clearly not deep fried long enough. There was no crunch to it, and the batter around it didn't even begin to turn brown. I didn't really get the sense that it was basil fried rice, only just fried rice. We didn't let that experience stop us from going back to try them again... this time, we ordered sushi. We ordered shrimp tempura rolls. We were turned off by the fact that they had lettuce in them? And that was the first time we ever experienced that. This place is perfect for a last minute or quick "in neighborhood" date night. The ambiance is a hybrid of sports bar and a semi fancy look of a sushi place. They're friendly but tend to be rushy then sometimes slow... weird. Place seems clean but then again u can't really focus in one spot long enough without being distracted or blinded by the huge screens that cannot be missed.
