    Mixed Berry Crepe
    Phil G.

Greeted upon entry and seated immediately while on a low season lunch stop. Our server Jesse was properly attentive. Our orders came out so quick causing me to compliment on the speed. She ordered the Mixed Berry Crepe served elegantly over a raspberry sauce. She found it tasty. I had the Chicken Salad Sandwich on a freshly made crusty cranberry bread with lettuce and tomato served with a side of choice. I chose the super fresh mixed fruit! It was all delicious. The ambiance was non-pretentious with some pretty cool decorations. Part of the bakery cafe entrance was dedicated to showcases of decadent appearing desserts. The crepe was $19.59 and the sandwich was $19.99. I thought the price was appropriate for the taste and quality provided.

The Normandy Crepe but w/chicken instead of mushrooms and this was sooooooooooooooo amazingly tasty! I will be back!!!!

I found the French Bakery on YELP before checking out my hotel down the street. This was 1 of 3 highlights of my birthday trip! When I tell you this is a pure gem in this plaza of my God...believe when I say you could not pick a better spot to enjoy breakfast or brunch at. This place is too tier brunch spot and thus is coming from a person who does not really care much about breakfast/brunch. Service: Nothing short of professional & delightful servers. Ambiance: Friendly patrons and knowledgeable staff Food: I wanted to try so many items! Everything that came out I was trying to take a peep at...what everyone ordered! Whatever you order you can NOT go wrong here! I recommend sharing cause you pay for what you get here so, it's pricey BUT, shareable. Otherwise you will definitely have leftovers to enjoy at home. Food: i tried the NORMANDY for $20.49 {Bursting with fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy applewood bacon, beechwood ham and I substituted (sautéed cremini mushrooms) for sliced seasoned chicken breast which came topped w/a creamy cheddar cheese sauce and pimento garnish.} Oh my God!...just thinking about it as I type this...is currently making my mouth water! With that being said, it's a must I hit this spot up again when I come back to Hilton Head! @French Bakery - You have an exquisite thing going here so, please don't change a thing!!!! Note: My navigation did take me round & round; it did not pick up the correct location. I had to call the restaurant and they gave me a landmark of their location. If you pull in from the major access road just head past the shops, all the way to the rear (facing north you should see a park in the rear and they are facing the small park area).

Almond croissant (awful/10) Blueberry Danish 6/10 - corn syrupy tasting
    Michael P.

Don't be fooled and save your hard earned money. Reviews aren't great here but typically it's service and price related with their sit-down meals. I thought, if the pastry are a little pricey, but really good, then I don't mind. We'll, I'm here to confidently tell you they're not really good, in fact, they're average at best. Spent $9 for an almond croissant that tasted like it came from a grocery store pastry box and then $8.79 for a blueberry Danish that was better but had a distinct corn syrupy flavor that shouldn't have been present. To elaborate on the croissant.. It felt like it was day old. Not crisp, no great layers, not flaky. Just meh. Absolute rip off. Have yet to find exceptional or even great pastry on this island, have tried a few of the most popular spots now and none have held a candle to what we have back home in new england and light years away from what you can get out on the west coast. Steer clear of French Bakery "unless you like overpaying", to quote another reviewer. I'd add, "overpaying for below average pastry".

Chicken salad sandwich on a cranberry and orange bread. Very good and very very large
    Sharon R.

It's a little expensive, but nothing more than any place else on the island. The helpings are very large. I did order a side of Polish sausage this time and I won't do that again. It was a little greasy and not very much for the $5 price point.

Deliciously prepared croque madam! So big!

Absolutely charming French bakery! A party of four, with four happy customers! My husband and I ordered the Black Forest latte, croque madame and a side of bacon. Everything was deliciously prepared and plated! The portions are very generous. We also visited last year and had the same lovely waiter, wish I had his name to post kudos! Recognized other workers as well, which means they must have a low turnover . They offer indoor and outdoor seating and both are ample! If you're on Hilton Head Island I highly recommend a visit.... and a dessert and or baguette for later!

Can't go wrong with coffee & pastry to go or dine in for a spectacular breakfast! Everything is amazing & delicious!

I always look forward to a trip here. My very favorite is chicken Salas on their apricot and cranberry bread. And it's so big that my husband and I share it. Add a glass of wine and it's a perfect lunch. Sadly, they close after lunch so don't plan dinner here. Also, buy some of the beautiful desserts and pastries before leaving. You'll be glad you did!

    Chocolate coconut macaroon latte
    Jillian T.

Cute spot in new shelter cove with sidewalk seating and nice ambiance. Can be slow service during peak times and food is alright but overpriced. Quiches have great flavors on the menu but come out a little bland/cheesy for my taste. Latte was served iced instead of hot as ordered but with great presentation (unexpectedly included an actual macaroon making it a $10 drink which could have been better mixed).

place is charming, but the food is a bit over priced. it was yummy but service was a bit meh. server came up to us twice and then was confused why we didn't leave a tip. took a bit for us to get our check , the manager had to flag him down for us. it's good but not great:(

It was so bad. The young lady who served us didn't check in on us. Barely helped us. Someone else had to step in to help her multiple times. Even when the check came out yet another server came to help us and said she was busy rolling silverware. Excuse me???? Not only was the service bad the food was so bland it's crazy. The coffee wasn't strong enough. We had to salt and pepper our food bc there was no seasoning. The sauce was very bland. The French onion soup was sour and not thick at all. Would not recommend.

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.

They also have a kids menu, which makes family dinners infinitely easier. We started with the bread service and it was phenomenal. Italian bread, Amish butter, ricotta cheese, and an olive oil situation that tasted like someone whispered sweet nothings to a bone marrow and convinced it to become a dipping sauce. It was fantastic. No notes. Zero. Perfect. I went with the shrimp and grits and they absolutely sang. My wife ordered the farm steak salad bowl, which looked and sounded delightful. Around the table we also had the trifecta bowl and the osso buco, and every single person was raving about their meal. That's always a good sign. The wine selection was excellent, the cocktails looked fantastic, and our waiter George was attentive, friendly, and on top of everything without ever hovering. This is the kind of restaurant you can return to over and over and never get tired of. Great food, great service, great atmosphere... if you're on Hilton Head, make this one a priority.

Somehow, we still waited 35 minutes just to be seated. After finally sitting down, we ordered immediately and then waited over 40 more minutes for food that wasn't even hot. To make matters worse, two of the orders were wrong. The pancakes came out with no syrup, and our server was basically nonexistent, only showing up twice in an hour, so we had to get up and get it ourselves. The poached eggs on the fourth meal were severely undercooked and practically raw. What made the experience even worse was having two young children with us who were completely melting down by the end because everything took so long. A restaurant should know better than to leave families sitting that long with no urgency, no communication, and no follow-up. What should have been a simple breakfast turned into a two-hour waste of time with bad service, poorly prepared food, and zero attention to detail. There is no excuse for this level of incompetence. I would absolutely not recommend this place.
