3-Piece Chicken Tenders with Dirty Rice.
    DeWayne R.

Passing through downtown Houston near the University of Houston, the smell of Frenchy's Chicken literally invaded my car -- so I had no choice but to stop. The drive-thru was packed, so I parked, ordered online through their website, and went inside to pick it up. The line inside was just as long as the drive-thru, but they have a pickup window just outside the dining area for online orders, which made things easy. I went with the chicken tenders, dirty rice, and a strawberry Fanta. You really can't go wrong with Frenchy's. The food has been consistently good since way back when I was in middle school. Even though this location moved a block from where it originally was, that Louisiana Cajun flavor hasn't changed one bit -- and clearly neither has the demand, judging by the nonstop lines. Funny side note: I was on a call with a friend who moved from Houston to the U.K. decades ago, and when I showed him my meal, it literally brought a tear to his eye. That's the power of Frenchy's.

I should avoid this place at all cost. Every time I'm in town I am drawn to visit despite my better judgment. This is my favorite chicken spot in the Houston and Austin area. It's been hot, can't always say fast, but lately the service times have improved, too. If you see chicken bones flying out the window because I can't hold off eating the chicken that is likely me.

I had a craving for some fried chicken! I am so happy that they started securing the packaging as I ordered from a delivery service. I cannot attest to the actual location due to the delivery. I love when my drumsticks are small and they actually gave me more pieces than I ordered. I think this will be my new location to order from!

I heard a lot about this p lace, but they must have been in a slump when I visited. The chicken was tasty, but overpriced. The staff didn't seem like they were in a good mood.

Four piece with dirty rice in a row and a jalapeño. Strawberry soda, hot sauce and ketchup. OMG so good.

This is not the Frenchies I went to, but I want to let it be known. There's a new franchise on telephone Road and Park Place in the gas station. It is very good. Excellent highly recommend telephone road in Park Place. It's in a gas station

Overrated chicken spot. The staff appeared unhappy and wasn't welcoming. It's almost as if they're mad you're there. The chicken is mediocre and the greens left me second guessing my choices. The fries were really good though! There was plenty of dining room and they're cashless so make sure you have a card.

First time visiting this location literally across the street from U of H. My first impressions are that it does robust to go business via drive thru. We wanted the full experience so we dined in. It is a walk up counter and there is a kiosk to place your order. The attendant is very quick to get your order and very knowledgeable about the menu. She asked me what chicken I preferred on my campus combo. I didn't know you get a choice and this was very generous and thoughtful of her to ask. I knew we were here for the chicken and some other goodies I know they do well! I had red beans and rice as my side with the 2 jalapeno peppers, sweet cornbread, and added boudin egg rolls and didn't want to pass up the peach cobbler. I love their chicken here because it is unique with a light coating of fried breading that is seasoned very well. I am sure the ingredients are a secret lol. The food took a while to come out and it was pretty busy at lunch. The interior dining space is small and there is plenty of outdoor seating. Frenchy's is a must visit Houston institution for some southern fried chicken! I totally recommend making a visit out here for some great comfort food.

A friend suggested that I try this fried chicken since I was new to the Houston area. I went through the drive thru and 2 lanes were in operation and I still waited 30 minutes The lines were long. The attendant, I forgot the name, was very stellar and talked that location up so well. Very cheerful. The chicken was very flavorful and tasty. It has to be in the top two of the best fried chicken I've ever had. The crunch was top tier. It was fresh and the temp was still hot. The dirty rice wasn't dirty enough for me and it was dry and bland. The cornbread was a choking hazard. It was very dry as well. If I ever went again, it would be for the chicken only.

I haven't been to the new location of Frenchy's in 3rd Ward. It is a very nice spot and spacious area inside. Frenchy's is one of the only restaurants that have good greens and cornbread, they both don't have sugar which no sugar is the best flavor for me. The fried chicken is tasteful not to salty but good seasoned. The wings are kind of small but they tasted good.

Tumble 22 did NOT skip out on the portions, cause tell me why 8-piece chicken nuggets nearly obliterate me. Service was also friendly and quick! The orders came with a slice of bread that was placed under the chicken; overall, the chicken was prepared well & the quality was evident! I wish the bread had been provided separately, because after a while, the chicken made it soggy, so it deterred me from eating it. They had a unique "Korean" version of their chicken, marinated in spicy Gochujang sauce, and I ordered the Honey Mustard as my dip. While it was delicious, it was a bit salty, so next time I come, I wouldn't get the Korean version. They also had unique Szechuan fries that I'd love to try!

It's a bit difficult to get in and out of the parking lot onto the street. The menu is very simple and fast food esque; chicken sandwiches, tenders, and fries / sides. The sandwich was fairly good sized and comes with one side. The chicken itself was a bit bland; the cole slaw out of everything was well seasoned and had good flavor. The fries are the typical frozen shoe string fries. Service is okay; again, this spot borders on a fast food restaurant so it's quite simple service. Overall, it's okay; the chicken isn't spectacular but it's a step above Canes or Laynes in some ways but flavor wise also missing something special.

Nice cozy place, perfect setting for fried chicken. I am sure they had other stuff, but that was the mission for this visit. Started with fried pickle spears, probably the best I have ever had, no joke. Perfect coating, taste and preparation. I like the spears vs the chips. Had the special which was to legs and two thighs for the price of the 3 pc dark. Beans and slaw. Ok, the chicken was great, moist, seasoned, very well cooked. I will go out of my way to go here for the chicken. Beans, canned with a little flavor added, nothing to brag about the slaw was pretty good. The fries on my friend's plate looked great. Perfect. We got here at about 1145, the place was busy. By 1215, it was packed, but they move people through and do a booming take out. Try it, you will like it. It satisfied my fried chicken desire and. A few small changes that I have noticed since their opening: they no longer offer lunch portions/specials and sadly the Rainbow Bowls no longer come with turmeric cauliflower Oddly, as many times that I have visited, I am either the only one there or at most, 1 of 3 people max. Hopefully it's just the early afternoon time of day I always seem to stop in because I would really like this place to stick around. And as much as I enjoy a good rewards program, their scanner has never worked once since initially joining so I have to manually input my receipt barcode into the app. Not a big deal but I haven't redeemed any rewards yet either so hopefully that will be a smooth process. I liked the curry seasoning to the fries, the chicken was battered well and had a solid crunch/flavor. The sandwich itself is also a straightforward classic = standard brioche bun + pickles for garnish and a decent sized breast.
