Let me tell yall about Main Bird. They did NOT miss. I had the Dirty Mac and went half & half with the Bird sauce and cheese sauce... and whew fire. The flavor was crazy good. Creamy, savory, perfectly seasoned, and the hot chicken had just the right kick. The service was just as solid friendly, welcoming, and fast. I wish I could remember the cashiers name but she was definitely a big help on helping pick something off the menu. On top of that, they gave me a free drink just for liking and reposting a pic I took of the establishment on my Instagram story, which is always a nice touch and shows love to their customers. The ambience was chill and inviting great vibe whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down to enjoy your food. Overall, great food, great service, great energy. Came in on Feb 18 around 10:55pm. We were the only people dining. I had a question regarding ordering on the tablet and the lady was just straight up lazy, unhelpful and rude. I could barely understand her and she was very soft spoken. I don't know if she's high or she really hates life. When the food came out she just plop the food on the table. No acknowledgement or asked who ordered what. I asked if I could have a cup of water and she said no. I asked why not? And she said we don't have cups. I was confused as I could clearly see cups behind the counter. She said they're only for beverages. I found that its unusual for an establishment to deny a paying customer dining-in a cup of water. Thankfully I had a bottle of water in the car. After I finished eating, I needed a to-go container and waited at the counter for a good 5 minutes as the front was left unattended. Nut allergy WARNING: Out of ALL of the reviews about Main Bird Hot Chicken on Google and Yelp and even their website, I have not been able to find any information about what oil they fry in. I called into this location and did not get an answer, so I had to call the Sugar Land location. Let me finally confirm: They do use peanut oil, and the person on the phone was not able to confirm whether it is refined peanut oil. Hence, I would not eat here with a nut allergy. Writing this review on behalf of friends that ate my order. We picked up via Uber Eats (used a discount) within 15 minutes of ordering with no issues. The restaurant ALSO has allergy requests turned OFF on the app.. which maybe should've been a red flag (see screenshot). Parking is no issue in the small strip mall that they share with some other restaurants. They also have a happy hour from 2-5PM on weekdays with half priced shakes. We had 2 of the slider and tender combo, with fries ordered extra crispy. The order is wrapped up very tightly, which means your fries will steam and continue softening. Sure enough, after traveling less than 10 minutes, fries were not crispy at all. The tender was surprisingly small, but spiced with some kind of very heavy seasoning. The slider was reasonably sized and the better option of the two. I ate a bit of the cole slaw. Nothing special (2/5). Definitely not with $4. Overall, my rating is more for the difficulty in finding information about the business and unresponsiveness via phone call. I'm sure it's a great late night option in the area. read more

BUT I am happy to report that the food was fresh, hot, and flavorful. The only thing better than the food was the customer service. Came in after the Kendrick Lamar & SZA concert because it wasn't many options open that late at night. This place ain't cheap. But it wasn't overpriced either. The family ordered all different stuff and it all came back good. I personally got the 10 piece wing combo with the crinkle cut fries. It was good. The wings are MEATY and for $21.99 they better be. The staff was nice, they answered my questions and helped me place my order. Even let me know what not to order. Yesterday July 25, 2025 my husband who is a paramedic just finished dropping off a patient in Houston and decided to get something to eat at the Montrose BIvd location at approx a little after midnight. On the way back to the station which is a bit away, approximately 45 minutes after eating the chicken he ordered, he began violently vomiting and at one point having diarrhea. He had tremendous, rapid onset pain in his abdomen. I had to drive and pick him up from work early and we went straight to the ER. The ER determined with all factors and tests that it was food poisoning. With treatment and the fact that he vomited so much up to that point, he progressively started feeling better into the morning. Absolutely disgusting. read more

Of all the hot chicken places I've been to recently, I think Main Bird might be my favorite so far. We ordered the slider meal, which comes with 2 sliders and fries. A lot of times I only taste the spice, but not the seasoning when it comes to hot chicken. However, Main Bird does a fantastic job with seasoning and it has different flavors which is a plus. It also comes with cheese sauce! Yay! The fries are great too. Service is quick, you order at a screen at the counter and your order will be called to pick up when ready. The restaurant is decorated with neon red lights and Houston murals, giving it a very casual vibe. It has booth seating with pretty high seats. It is also pretty chilly in there, so don't forget a sweater if you get cold easily! Parking is easy as there is a pretty large lot in the plaza. However, Main Bird chicken was actually flavorful from the breading to the meat. I ordered the double sliders and everything paired well and was tasty. The fries were clearly very fresh as well. It was refreshing to have good chicken and fries together - not something I can say for all hot chicken chains. I went around 11pm on a Thursday night and ordering was done on a self-service kiosk.
