Drove across the border because I had a craving for some poutine and stopped into Frency's after hearing how good it is through Yelp. I refuse to believe this is passable as real poutine. The gravy tasted like it came out of a can! I was not impressed and even the cheese curds couldn't save it (and I love cheese!). The inside is drab; very dark. They were obviously fresh, and they had the right crispness. They were as they should be - medium thickness, and fried so that the inside stays soft, while the outside is crunchy. Gravy - The gravy was good, had the right texture, was warm, was spiced correctly Cheese Curd - This is the only issue I had with the poutine, the cheese wasn't melted. The cheese is supposed to be melted, and gooey over the fries. It really wasn't here, I don't know if this was an issue with the fries, or that the gravy wasn't hot enough to melt the cheese. Beyond the poutine, the service was good, the prices were good. I get the feeling they primarily cater to club goers. Poutine is the ultimate hangout preventative imo. We were in Detroit for a week and decided to take the obligatory trip into Canada. We should have listened to the rental shuttle driver and not bothered. Windsor was a huge disappointment. Fortunately, Frenchy's was not. I don't claim to be a poutine expert, but I enjoyed theirs tremendously. There was a great amount of gravy without making the fries too soggy and the brisket and cheese were excellent. The main guy that works here is always in SUCH A GOOD MOOD!!! It's really great to see someone enjoying their job so much. There's so many great combos you can make for your poutine. So basic thin cut fries, veggie or beef gravy, cheese curds and then loads of toppings options. But, this is definetly not the best poutine I've had, in fact I'd say it's quite average. The gravy isn't really that great, and considering that's what holds the entire dish together that's a pretty big miss. Second time in Windsor for a concert and was really looking forward to Frenchy's again. We get a lg poutine + sliders, enough for us to share and you get to pick your own toppings for both. Got a poutine w/ green peppers and mushrooms. Last time we added pulled pork but that was meat overload since we got a 6pk of sliders which are packed with meat! The gravy is really tasty and I love melty cheese curds. My daughter would eat the entire poutine if she could. Felt like there could have been a bit more green peppers and mushrooms though. Like I said, sliders are packed full. Got the grilled chicken (shredded), roasted red peppers, mushrooms and cheddar. Would normally get mozzarella but the kids don't like it (yet) so got cheddar but it was still really good. I can't say I've had a ton of poutine but based off Frenchy's ratings and my own experience, it is simply the bomb. Huge portions and lots of variety in ways to create your own poutine. The man working hooked us up with a couple ranch dipping sauces which of course, topped it all off. The environment isn't the best... Very dull, kinda dirty looking, hole in the wall. We were staying in Windsor for a few days and I wanted to get some authentic poutine as the very few places that do sell it in the states don't quite do it right. I stumbled upon Frenchy's while searching for places near our hotel that sell poutine and was sold not only by the photos, but the prices are extremely reasonable for what you get. It was only $23 for two large (and I do mean large, it's more than enough for one person/meal) poutines, both with extra cheese. I got mine plain but there are tons of free toppings (meats and veggies) as well as some that cost extra but seem worth it. It's easy to find but you have to be looking for it because it doesn't grab your attention right away. We walked but it looks like you can park on the street too. Once you get in, there are paper menus at the counter and the guy who was working there was super friendly and helpful with showing us sizes and explaining the toppings menu. They fill up both sides of the styrofoam container it's served in and we had our food in about five minutes, even though it's all fresh. I would definitely recommend Frenchy's to anyone looking for good poutine or those who have never tried it. You will not be disappointed! read more

After living in Montreal for a few years and coming back to Windsor, Frenchy's is awful in so many ways (not to mention the offensive name). The gravy tastes powdered. It's far too salty and the cheese curds have no flavour at all. The fries are scraggly and thin and are really nothing special. I ordered a large and couldn't eat any more after about 5 bites. The atmosphere is disgusting as well. Black walls is suitable for a bar, not a fast food place. The mustache logo on the sign is tacky too. Very 2011 "look at me I'm hip with it." You sit down and the tables are sticky, everything is served in Styrofoam, the poutine literally looks like fecal matter. The darker the gravy, the worse it is in my experience and this slop is straight fudge coloured. Cheese curds were not fresh at all and barely melted. They were all very tiny as well. You may as well have put mozzarella cheese on it cause it literally had no flavour. The staff at Frenchy's should be ashamed of themselves and what they choose to do with their time. If you want authentic poutine, don't go here. You're better off finding a recipe and making it on your own or going to burger king, skr8 up read more

I was a visitor from the states for the evening and good gravy this place was on the fleek. The experience is a wonderful blend of authentic flavors and unique atmosphere (all good things). I'd definitely be poutine this on your to-do list if you're ever in the area. If you're all legs and up for a walk, the surrounding city is nice as well.
