After a long visit with my parents it's time to go home. I have an early morning flight so I'm staying at the Doubletree at the airport and as I am both hungry and tired I decided to give Frequency a go. The service was prompt and friendly. The menu was not overwhelming and there were enough selections for just about everyone. The decor was clean, spacious and not noisy. The price points were reasonable. The kitchen time was quick. Now for the critical point of this....THE FOOD. I got the Tarmac Burger minus the BBQ Sauce and Fried Green Tomato plus a side of fries. The French Fries were hot crispy, perfectly salted and so tasty. But, the burger was the star. Upfront...I am a Hamburger Snob, but i got to admit that this was a very good burger. I would definitely order this again. It was well charred, juicy, cooked perfectly to my request and so fully of flavor. Everything from the fried egg to the caramelized onions, to the bun served to enhance the overall TASTY burger. Totally a Friends and Family recommendation. I have a mixed review. While the servers at the restaurant were great as well as the food I had a mixup that John refused to fix. After fraudulently charging me for a breakfast that was included in my booking rate he swore that he would fix it yet consistently ignored my text for over a week after promising me that he would fix my folio to my face on camera. He never did. I saw all of my messages being read and ignored. I'm completely disappointed in this and I have lost all confidence in the ability of managers to care enough to fix issues. What a nice surprise inside of the Doubletree Hotel at the airport. The restaurant overlooks the lake and has a full bar. We had the Jamaican Jerk spring rolls which were excellent with the sweet chili sauce. The chef is from Jamaica we were told so the food represents that. My wife had the Jamaican chicken and I had the blackened salmon. The chicken was tender and flavorful and the salmon was some of the best I have ever had. Our server was great and we had a great dinner. I highly recommend that you eat here if staying at the Doubletree. read more

Service by Ursula was 5 star, but the food is the reason for 1 star. The ambiance was nice with lots of windows to view the peaceful pond, fountain, and courtyard patio. The creamy seafood chowder was cream heavy, so you had to identify the seafood by shape/flavor, but there were no shrimp as advertised. The flavor was good. The worst was the chicken palliard that we were told was a 30minute wait but worth it. We had a beet salad while waiting which was very good. The chicken arrived dry+burnt w/o au jus as described. When cut into a big puff of hot dry steam came out. The mixed vegetables tasted bland+texture was frozen type. Ursula immediately knew it was wrong, and said we wouldn't charge us. We could not eat it, and we were too tired to order anything else. Very disappointed end to what started as promising. read more

It wasn't too busy and a server held the door open as we went outside to grab a table. She walked past us several times helping other people. It was 20 minutes before she asked if we'd been helped! I ordered a dirty gray goose martini and water before I got a menu. The martini came out in a small plastic cup with very little drink and one olive. It wasn't drinkable. After a good Gorgonzola salad and a BLT that was supposed to have fried green tomatoes (debatable) the server asked how things were and I told her it was good other than the martini and she asked if I'd like something instead. I said I was scared and she suggested a beer. I assumed that meant I wouldn't be charged for the martini. Wrong. 18ish dollars for a martini that wasn't drinkable ( and I suspect it wasn't gray goose) plus the cost of the beer. Not impressed. read more

Restaurant in the hotel. Nice and open. Not too busy so we grabbed a booth by the window but there was only one server so it was a while between courses. Ordered some wine but they were out of a lot so we grabbed what they had. Same situation with food. Hit or miss if they had what we wanted. Got some jambalaya and a Caesar to start. Jambalaya was really good IMO. It was spicy and a very large portion. Could've been a main. Caesar was basic but did have good flavors. We split the penne primavera. It was ok. Added a steak to the top. It was cooked well but it was just ok as well. This place got high marks for the food and for the most part I agree but being out of so many things really took from the experience. Only one server made for an un necessarily long evening but she was working hard. We would not go out of our way to go back but if you are staying in the hotel it is a convenient choice. read more

I'm not one that usually eats at the hotel restaurant, but it was late and I was hungry. So rather than wander around to find a place, we decided to give this a try, figuring that it would be fuel. We were pleasantly surprised by Frequency and would eat here again. Our order included chicken wings, a wedge salad, and a cheeseburger. The chicken wings were the standout. We got two kinds of sauce--the Thai ginger was like a sweet chili sauce and my preferred. The habanero barbecue sauce was not very spicy, so I'd throw a little tabasco at it if you like it hotter. The wings themselves were large and perfectly cooked--juicy on the inside and nicely crispy. The appetizer wedge salad was fresh and crisp--I liked that they used hearts of romaine instead of the typical iceberg wedge. It made it easier to share and get bacon and blue cheese on every bite! The cheeseburger was the only item that seemed pretty standard, but at the same time, it was cooked to temperature (medium), and the fries were nice and crispy. So better than standard hotel fare. Service was a little disjointed at first but got back into a rhythm after our wings arrived. All in all, a surprisingly good start to our visit. read more

Average hotel restaurant. Came in hungry but service was slow and this place was far from full. My crab cake appetizer was lukewarm in the middle and warmer on the outside. My ribeye was overcooked (med-well versus med) but was seasoned very well. View is great of the lake. Probably a better place to have beers than dinner but the $15 food credit for being Hilton Honors Gold helps. read more

we had went here the first night we stayed at the Hilton, Food was very good. The next morning we went to have breakfest and when my husband ordered the omlete he spilt it with me. The first bite i took I knew the food was bad, It tasted sour. Told my husband not to take a bite tell he smelled it and right away he said it smelled sour. We had told the waitress and she looked at us like really but the come back to table and said yes it was bad, They did make us another one but didn't offer any discoute on the troubles, We did have to wait longer for our food. I feel the kitchen help is not watching there products close enough to make sure the quality is good. We could have been very sick if we ate that anyway. The help there was very friendly. This hotel restaurant was alright for a quick bite on a layover. The tarmac burger is pretty big and tasty. It's everything that you could ask for in a burger, from bacon to a fried egg. The french fried were cold when i got the food served to me but i was too hungry to care at that point. The bartender was awesome with the service, just the cooks were lacking. read more

Staying at the Doubletree Hotel at JAX airport. I usually don't do hotel restaurants, but thought I would give this one a try. Had the wedge salad and the NY strip steak. Plus a Pinot Nori. The wedge salad wasn't a wedge, but is was very tasty. Lots of blue cheese plus the blue cheese dressing. I would recommend this one. The Pinot Nori was Canyon. Ok. The NY Strip was served with Diane sauce but it had a tomato taste. The steak was medium but very chewy and not that flavorful. I would make another selection if I visit again. The wait staff must also handle room service while waiting tables. There was long periods of time the wait staff was absence. The table next to me had to ask another waiter for their check and was told their waiter was on a room service run and couldn't get them a check until he returned. I too waited a long time for my check. Plus waited a long time for my salad to be served. While the wait staff was pleasant they should stay focused in the restaurant guest. Perfectly mediocre, WAY overpriced food. The salmon (which was a $24 meal) was frozen, the potatoes were the same cubed breakfast potatoes you see in a breakfast buffet. Vegetables were mushy. The wait was quite long and the place was close to empty. My husband ordered the jambalaya, he stated it tastes as if it's 80% from a can and 20% from the back of the freezer. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but for $25 it was quite hard to stomach. We honestly feel that $50 for this dinner would've been better spent getting two cans of zatarans and a can of tuna and used the rest of the money to tip the server, as she was fantastic. First time visiting this place. What a jewel, which I almost missed because of the pricing. Here are the tale of the tape: The Good: The food and service. I ordered the Seafood Chowder and the Reuben Spring Rolls. The chowder was simply the best I ever tried; a fusion of rich flavors on every bite, incredibly tasty, thick, full of seafood and phenomenal presentation. This dish is an experience you need to try at this place. Believe me; simply outstanding, a 5/5 stars. The Reuben Rolls were equally good; balance mix of flavors, fresh, moist and crispy. It almost missed the mark due to the amount of grease/oil still dripping from the rolls. It wasn't a distraction due to the rich flavors of this dish. So I would recommend the Chef to somehow control the grease/oil, perhaps let it sit for a bit longer before serving. The service by Mark F was phenomenal. He was knowledgable of the menu, friendly, enjoy being here, respectfully and had situational awareness. Great job Mark!! The Bad: The high prices and a bit of oil drip from the Reuben Rolls. Overall Experience: Although the prices are high, I would pay it based on the quality of the food they serve here. The other customers looked like they were enjoying their meals. 10 dollar kids pizza was burned and unrecognizable as a pizza, waiter did go out of his way to help us but gave some sob story about issues in his life to get a tip and I was traveling with two toddlers and wazs done. In all fairness everyone has a story, butbi gave a good tip anyway, just really didnt want to hear his life story... Burger was ok but the price does not coincide with quality. Granted they are a hotel restaurant. But definitely overpriced for what they offer. Should have and will be ordering take out if I ever had to stay at the double tree again.
