The staff was attentive & nice. Immediately brought us a bowl of cold water for the dog. Ordered an old fashioned & loved it! It was traditional & a perfect cocktail. I ordered an end piece of prime rib with horseradish cream sauce on the side, a loaded bake potato & a side of broccoli. One in our party had a honey chicken rice bowl - one of their special items is their rice bowls & have a variety. This was a fresh bowl filled with ginger honey chicken, fresh mango, edamame, seaweed salad over a generous portion of jasmine rice. MAN IT LOOKED GOOD! Healthful, fresh & a hearty portion! Another in our arty had a Grilled Mahi filet, loaded baked potato & shared the side of broccoli with me - it was a side portion that was healthy is size & great for two. Entrees come with one side. All of us had an exceptional meal! Great service from A-Aron!!! He's a great server & on the ball! Loved this spot & could see us being regulars if we lived here! Last night was probably the best dining experience I've had at the Brick Restaurant. The food and service was amazing. Made last minute dinner plans and decided to go to the Brick. Our waiter Jackson was phenomenal. He was friendly, professional, and attentive to our table. Food 10/10. We ordered the blackened shrimp & grits (the best), warm turkey sandwich (always good), & lamb chops (new favorite). The lamb chops were seasoned to perfection. It was all delicious. I can't believe I have never been to the Brick. Circumstances changed last night while I attended Amplified Avondale Event! The soulful voice of Brianna lured us in. We ordered drinks at the bar and listened to the music. Kids danced with their moms creating such a joyful evening. After strolling the streets we returned for dinner. We were seated in the bar and got to enjoy another set by Brianna. My friend and I ordered the Mediterranean Salad with fried Calamari and her hubs got Prime Rib. Everything was delicious. Service was great. The Brick is large with awesome art work. I can't wait to return. read more

The area itself was absolutely amazing. The Avondale community of Jacksonville is second to none! I truly enjoyed driving to this establishment. Most of the homes were on the water, and the community was nice and quaint. This was not our first choice for dinner, but I landed a parking spot right in front of this establishment. I ordered a sangria, which was absolutely delicious. The crabcake was OK, being that I grew up eating Baltimore crabcakes. My salmon was very tasteful, the only thing was my asparagus, was a tad bit overcooked. Overall, our server was very professional, and the ambience was superb. If you're ever in the Jacksonville area, be sure to look up the Avondale community and especially this restaurant. read more

Really enjoyed this restaurant this morning. Service was just right- attentive but not obtrusive. Drinks were refilled without asking. My group of friends hadn't seen each other in a while, our server let us catch up and chat without feeling rushed to order or leave. Food was delicious. Menu is extensive, a lot of different types of food to choose from. I had a peach Bellini, the shrimp and grits, and a cup of coffee. Total was $54. The food was good. I went for a book club meeting. I only ordered a salad with salmon. My friend ordered calamari it looked crispy and she said it was delicious. I was in town visiting family and my brother suggested having dinner at Brick. We attended Brick Tuesday evening, so there was no wait. We were greeted immediately by our server, Jackson, who took our drink orders and offered us appetizers. Professional and knowledgeable about the menu and even chatted with me about the crab cakes! I sat in a booth at the bar and it did not appear busy but the waiter took very long to greet us and even longer to then bring us water. Her service was poor. The manager eventually came up and took my drink order that came out faster then the water. The food appeared to be a lunch serving, and although the fish was good it was not worth $29.00! read more

Really enjoyed this new restaurant I came across. Thanks Yelp for helping me find it :) Came here on Tuesday for some appetizers and drinks. We ended up ordering for the table Crab cakes , spinach dip, wedge salad, and a regular cheeseburger with provolone cheese. Crab cakes were really good! The sauce was drenched in the crab cakes because the saucier the better right! Spinach dip didn't really wow me, I will say some bread with the spinach dip might have made it a better touch. The wedge salad was delish. The burger was cooked at perfect temperature. Juicy and flavorful. The bartender has also made me a delicious white sangria, but for a tequila drinker I was slightly sad they didn't have Casamigos . Our server Christian gave outstanding service and was super attentive. He needs a raise because we ended up being so full and still ordering dessert. Let's face it sometimes we always have room for something sweet . Crème Brûlée was the choice we went with. Overall I will be back to try other items on the menu. Our last visit to The Brick was not good. We ended up walking out because we never got a waiter. We were hoping for a better experience this time, because we'd had great experiences before. Unfortunately, again, it didn't start well. We were immediately seated, but again, sat for a long time without being acknowledged. It wasn't particularly busy either. Frustrated, we were about to leave yet again when our waiter stopped by the table. We had a polite exchange, but he seemed to not really care that we were there. Very strange vibe. Maybe he was having a bad day. But, at least he's there. From that point on, we had no issues with service. Drink order came pretty quickly, and they were good. Dinner orders in and we just sat enjoying the drinks and taking in the atmosphere. It really is a nice restaurant and we've always looked forward to visiting. I just don't think our relationship is working out anymore. Either I have the worst luck, or the restaurant is just slipping. Dinner comes out. II had ordered my go-to, the Kale Salad with Maple Glazed Salmon. It tastes great, but the salad portion was much smaller than usual. Maybe done to keep costs down? The kale salad was sold as the headliner, but it definitely took a back seat to the salmon. Maybe they should consider renaming the entree to Maple Glazed Salmon with a side kale salad? Overall, it was not a bad experience. It's just that the somewhat minor 'dings' begin to add up, and it's lost the shine to me. I expected a better experience than the last time, but the improvement wasn't impressive. While it was better, it's just not living up to expectations any longer. Would I go back again? The restaurant is super cute. Very cool and relaxed vibe. The drinks were good. I got a blueberry margarita and it was delicious. Not too sweet not too tart. Then I got the key lime pie martini. It was also delicious. The bar tenders and wait staff were amazing. We ordered our food. My dad got the mahi mahi and it was good not too fishy and really moist. My mom and husband got the shrimp and grits. So delicious. The shrimp was blackened and the cheese and bacon added to it made it so much more flavorful. My aunt and uncle got the petite filet and fries and loaded baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly. Then came my order. I got the 16oz ribeye (I love ribeyes) and the loaded baked potato. The loaded baked potato was really good. The skin was salty and the inside had just the right amount of butter and sour cream to make it creamy and delicious. My steak was over cooked. I asked for medium rare and it came out more medium. I never send my food back but this time I decided too. The waiter Andrew didn't seem like he really cared which didn't surprise me because he wasn't too attentive to our table. The manager Jason brought out my remake. This time it was cooked properly. However Jason didn't seem to want to be bothered. I do not mind paying for good food/service. But when my food is messed up and I not only have my waiter but the manager not care was poor service and that is a huge turn off for me when picking a place to spend my hard earned money. The bill came. There was no kind of compensation for my 50 dollar steak being over cooked. There was no apology. Nothing. That to me says a lot about a place when I am trying to figure out where I want to go or where I want to recommend to my friends/family. read more

Stopped here for the first time and wow this place is really nice inside, cool atmosphere. Shannon our server was top-notch and very friendly and courteous..Thank You Shannon. Overall the food was average at our table. I had the blackened mahi mahi and it was good. My wife had the wedge salad with crab cake, unfortunately the wedge lettuce was discolored and looked "not so" appetizing. Crab cake was good. Our friend had the French Dip with fries and really enjoyed it. Next time we visit, I would like to try the wagyu burger..a local mentioned this was their favorite item at Brick. My best friend and I went here for brunch. I love the vibe and ambiance of this place and the service was amazing. We both order the salmon and calamari. The calamari was decent, but wow, the salmon was delicious! One of the best salmon I've had by far in Jacksonville. The flavor was amazing. You can taste the smokeless flavor of the salmon. Tonight on a Thursday around 8 pm, for a party of four, there was no wait time. The restaurant was busy, but not extremely crowded. Our waiter, James, was ok. He was quick, friendly, and attentive. All of our orders came out accurately, except for one of them. We don't like sending plates back to the kitchen, so we just dealt with it since it was something minor. Just walking the avenue for somewhere to eat. Welcomed in by the manager. Great friendly service, questions about the food answered. My children's "can we take out the this and the that" honoured with no problem at all. Prompt service, tasty burgers cooked to our request and a filet mignon cooked beautifully and served with fresh vegetables. We were excited to be seated right away on a Friday night. Our server did not come to our table for approximately 15 minutes after we were seated. We were very close to leaving. But after the rocky start things did get better drinks were good. Surprised that my mojito was served in a low ball glass, usually served in a tall glass. Server was friendly and my food was great ! Quick bite before an event- sat at the bar. Haven't been here in a bit and notice two things: 1-Not as crowded, 2-Prices def went up on many items. Service- Greeted quickly, shared good recommendations, drinks came out quickly. Drinks- Seasonal Ginger snap, Dirty Martini, and Bubbly. All good flavors and not overly sweet. Food- Baked Brie and bread- very good. Wish the bread was toasted, but still very good. We also split the poke nacho salad. Large size, good amount of tuna, great flavors- fresh and crisp. I love Avondale and the Brick Restaurant is one of my favorite stops when I visit the shops. First, the atmosphere is casual and friendly, they have outdoor seating and occasionally, there's live music. I've never had poor service here as all of the servers have been friendly and accommodating. As a former MeetUp host, I'd work with restaurant managers to organize our weekly dinners. The manager of the Brick was amazing when working with our large group. Finally, the food is delicious.......!!! I'm always impressed when restaurants serve food made in house, including the salad dressings and the Brick does not disappoint! I actually crave their food if I haven't visited for awhile! I'm giving it a four rating because is does get quite loud at night and it's hard to hear your table mates when that happens......During the day and early evening, it's perfect! read more

Chicken was good and trustworthy - not all rubbery and nasty like you find in a lot of restaurants. Broccoli was beautifully steamed - I hate when it's hard and undertone. Stopped in for a quick dinner before a show on Sunday. I had a rice bowl (salmon) and my friend had the steak salad. The food was good but not great on both accounts, and the steak salad had a very small piece of steak. Minor disappointment. I had a Ginger Snap beverage and my friend had the Peach-ish drink. Both were well made and good flavors. We both had an espresso martini as "dessert". Those were pretty good as far as espresso martinis go. I wouldn't quite give 4 stars for the food alone, as I said it was good but not great. But this restaurant is consistently good, and the consistency is important. I know I won't get bad food here ever. It does feel a little overpriced as well, but doesn't everywhere now? What bumps it up was definitely the service. Our waiter was an absolute pleasure. I came into Brick at 3:00pm on a Sunday. They had No Happy Hour, and no seats are the bar. It was $7.50 for a glass of beer. The staff was attentive and thru had a gold tournament in the bar TV. It's an average American restaurant with an everything menu: burgers, tacos, rice bowls etc. Prices were a bit high. They had no wifi and the staff were complaining about a customer. I loved the kale salad with salmon and I do not eat kale ever. This is the first kale salad I loved and actually devoured. The dressing was a perfect accent to the kale.
