I never write reviews but Fresco Deli Cafe really deserves it. I've only been ordering for the past 2 weeks & I'm consistently impressed with their customer service and exceptionally fast service. The food is fresh & delicious from their breakfast platters to specialty sandwiches as well as their desserts; I had the rice pudding. I barely have to wait for breakfast in the morning when it is very busy & my lunch order is always delivered very quickly as well. On top of that, their pricing is very affordable. Diner food in cafe form, sent out in deliveries by the dozen and just enough seating for a few, that about sums up Fresco Deli Cafe. A primary stop for folks hanging out at the nearby Laguardia Community College, it was once a frequent lunch spot of mine and easy option for breakfast on the go. When things didn't work out, delivery was always a reliable alternative. The food is adequate for takeout / diner standards, and far cheaper than most places. For the most part, the price tag matched the food, as most of it is just slapped together before making its way to be delivered somewhere. It's by no means gourmet, I've had omelettes that looked like road kill before, despite the fact they tasted decent. They never seem to have enough home fries throughout the day, so expect a lot of substitution with fries. Sandwiches are my thing here, like the black forest ham and cheddar or turkey avocado with peppers. The bread is not remarkable but they usually do a solid job of stuffing it so there's something in every bite. It won't cost you more than $4-5, and the bagels are also in the $1-3 range. Consider avoiding the pizza, in any form. You've been warned. Pricing is obviously reasonable and the service is decent. Phone orders can get a tad tricky at times, so try to utilize online delivery if possible. SInce they operate primarily during the day time, just beware they have no dinner options as they close at 7pm every day. read more

I have been a customer of Fresco Deli Cafe for the past eight years, but unfortunately after my experience today, I will no longer be purchasing meals there. I have already noticed that the quality of the food has gone down, however now games are being played with the pricing. Yesterday (5/17) I went there and bought breakfast. Today (5/18) I purchased the exact same breakfast and the price was over $2 more. In other words, I bought the exact same breakfast two days in a row and payed two different prices. I don't care what excuse the management comes up with to justify this, but it's unacceptable and it's price gouging. I paid almost $10 for an egg sandwich and a cup of tea. I can get that for $5 from the cart guy down the street (my new go-to). I'm very disappointed with my experience at Fresco Deli Cafe and won't be going back. read more

I've been ordering from this place almost daily for months since I started working in Long Island City/Sunnyside last year and it's really the only option in the neighborhood. It's great for a quick breakfast and your standard cup of coffee to drink in the morning and convince yourself that you're awake when you're really not because the coffee is shit. Today I ordered something pretty standard - 2 eggs, mozzarella and spinach (no bread or wrap or home fries) - along with my other coworkers and had it delivered. My meal somehow came out to an exorbitant $5.50 (to put it into perspective, a co-worker of mine got bacon, egg and cheese on a hero and it came out to $1 less). When I called for clarification on the pricing, the woman I ordered with tried to explain, to no avail, that it was because the spinach was sautéed (mind you, sautéing the spinach was her suggestion and I was not advised of the additional cost). She was courteous enough, however, despite her failure to validate this pricing. I was eventually transferred to the "manager" who, after speaking over me half the time, ultimately dismissed me with an "I'm done with this. You can order from somewhere else," and hung up on me. Suffice it to say this once daily customer will never spend another dime at this place and they're lucky if I don't stand outside of their store every morning with picket signs advising people to go elsewhere, like the manager so nicely suggested to me. As someone who's worked in customer service for years, I understand that sometimes you have to stand firm in your decision to deny a customer a refund (which, technically, I wasn't even asking for). But the way in which you do this (i.e. not telling a regular customer who works closely in an office full of other regular customers who will never be ordering from this establishment again) is what will make or break your business. I think this place is convenient if you work or study around the area, other places are not really high in sanitation status. At this deli you can find breakfast, lunch and dinner. Desserts as well and any type of drink you want. They make salads right in front of you and everything is quick. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because every time I go buy a jelly cup, it's old and same as the flan. The cookies taste old as well. Still learning the neighborhood since I am working in the area twice a week. Was so glad that the rain and cold wind pushed me inside! The small shop offers the standard sandwiches and salads at low prices and high-quality ingredients. I have visited twice and been surprised by the value, friendliness, and efficient service. Their salads start with a base of greens--2.95 for a small, 3.95 for a large. Add-ins include the standard items and range from .50 for most of the veggies up to 2.00 for grilled chicken. Artichokes and stuffed grape leaves are among the more creative ingredients. Even better, the bleu cheese was kept refrigerated! All toppings were generously scooped up and in before I chose from ten or more dressing options. Happy after my first visit, I returned to snag a sandwich for my lunch. I ordered a BLT with cheese as a wrap. Enough bacon for my taste. And that takes A LOT. Fresh veggies, adequate cheese and, best of all, no mayonnaise--just like I ordered it! In the container with my wrap, I got a slice of melon, a wedge of orange, and a generous helping of cole slaw served up in a cabbage scoop. Nice accouterments, though the slaw had green and red pepper--yuck. Still, for the typical sandwich shop, the sides were a nice accent to make my wrap a meal. All told, each meal was just over 6.00 including the obligatory Diet Coke. Good value for good food. Use to buy here till the manager started to act like a cheapskate. Every time I order a bacon egg and cheese and opened it, I realize they only put one strip of bacon on each side of the hero. Sometimes the bacon was shredded just to make it seem like there's more. I love this place. Vincent is amazing. I live too far for delivery but I call in my order and pick it up at least twice or three times a week. The large salad is exactly that "a large salad". The ingredients are fresh and on point. If they mess up on your order they will accommodate you the next time you come. I must say that I do stick to the same things when I order so I am not too familiar with their hot foods that are already prepared. I usually come at the end of the day so the trays of hot food do not look tempting. My only complaint is their hours. They close too early and are closed on Sundays. I was hungry and excited in anticipation of ordering two items off their menu that are "most popular". Side Note: They are located 0.3miles from my apartment, and show up in a Seamless search to deliver to my address. I received a message 2 minutes after placing the order that my order was received I received a message 6 minutes after placing the order that my order was being prepared I received a message 36 minutes after placing the order that my order was on it's way to be delivered. I received a phone call from SEAMLESS 1 hour and 5 minutes after placing the order that letting me know the restaurant cancelled my order because I am outside their delivery zone. I have had this happen to me before w/ Seamless in Astoria. This is the very first time that the restaurant went through all the motions of receiving, prepping and letting me know delivery was initiated only for Seamless to call to give me the frustrating, unacceptable news. We aren't even talking about a few miles, a mile or even a half mile away. We are talking just over a quarter mile away and they went through all the motions and likely tossed out my meal just to avoid delivering to an address they market as an address they deliver to. Appalling. Not good business practice. Very disappointing. Not an option to come pick it up if i could have -- since i had waited over an hour for my lunch...even after the Seamless associate gave them a call after hearing i received all of the notifications that the food was being prepared and left for delivery. This is a great place to grab lunch with colleagues or friends. I was in the area for a work assignment and decided to find something close by in the neighborhood. Their sandwiches are geniunely fresh and tasty. Prepared right in front of you at their counter/kitchen exactly the way you want it. I had the Mamaitas sandwich- avocados, smoked turkey, roasted red peppers, munster cheese, and L/T with pesto mayo. Muy caliente! I had breakfast in the morning, their egg & sausage on a roll was very good. It was off to a great start in the day! And I love that they let you customize the coffee to a T! I had an hazelnut iced coffee with soy milk! Yum!! It had a smooth & creamy texture. Hazelnut coffee is just amazing! I like this place. I am going to school across the street and this is my go to spot for fast fresh food. Its expensive so that is pretty much the only reason I am taking away a star, but you get what you pay for. This place can get busy, especially at lunch time so make sure you're prepared to wait a few for your meal if you hit the lunch rush. I get there at around 11am and its a nice speedy service and the food is always good. I've had their breakfast platters, breakfast sandwiches and regular sandwiches and all have pleased me. In the week and a half I was in Queens, I became a regular at this little cafe. The bagel prices are excellent ($2.95 for a bagel and cream cheese), the bagel sandwiches (I had one with green peppers, onions and cheese) were delish, the gyro and triple decker sandwiches (roast beef, pastrami and swiss, mmm!) were out of this world. Either I was REALLY hungry or this place is just THAT good. Whatever it was, I kept going back. In addition to what I tried, they have a salad bar, a large selection of sandwiches, and a bunch of hot items for lunch. They're open until 2pm and serve breakfast the whole time; perfect for late starters like myself. Drink options include smoothies, coffee, tea and lots of bottled beverages. Long Island City is just not walkable enough, Astoria is all the way over the bridge, and sometimes Sunnyside and 39th Street just seem too far. Well, I ordered a Califorian hero sandwich the other day, which was supposed to include red peppers, avocado, grilled chicken and mustard on a hero. The sandwich came with no avocado, yet they still charged me full price for it. It's called a Californian because there is supposed to be avocado in the sandwich!!! Anyways, later that night I suffered tremendously because the grilled chicken within the hero was not fresh or undercooked. I threw up all morning and was miserable for the entire day.
