I really wanted to support a local business, so I gave Nick's Bagels in Nick's Bagels several chances. Unfortunately, every visit felt the same, the owner's attitude was unfriendly, unwelcoming, and honestly uncomfortable for customers. This morning was the final time for me. There was a line of people waiting, and a woman politely asked if a food order was hers. Instead of answering calmly, the owner started yelling at her, saying "Go away, go away." The woman looked completely shocked, and so were the rest of us standing there. I had already picked up my milk, but after seeing how she was treated, I put it back and left. I even told the woman, "Let's go somewhere else, this is not the kind of place to start the day." I understand businesses can be understaffed and mornings can be stressful, especially when handling cooking and customers alone. But there is never a reason to disrespect people who are simply asking a question. I also witnessed another situation in the past where a customer was told to "go, go, I don't have anything to give you," and the customer looked completely stunned. Customer service and respect matter just as much as food quality. Sadly, I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this place based on my experiences. read more

Quality/Food: I feel like bagels along Kinderkamack vary year to year. This year (24-25) it's all about Nick's. I've been to Sunrise, Supreme (not on Kinder) and Kinderkamack Bagels all within the past month and I feel that Nick's consistently has the best bagels. I can't speak to the sandwiches, but for a go and grab Everything, Plain, etc, Nick's is my preferred choice. I've noticed other places also undergoing "shrinkflation". Without saying which place, the other day I got an order and I swear their bagels were what I would consider "mini-size" for kids. Plus they were extremely hard. Haven't experienced that once at Nick's. Service: The service is always friendly and I don't feel rushed. Ambience: There is no ambience though. Grab a bagel, say hello, and go. Lol. read more

They're fresh and fluffy without beyond overly dense - the service has always been great. I ordered an pumpernickel bagel with ham eggs and one with cream cheese. This was a large bagel. It was filled a generous amount of cream cheese, slightly melting and overflowing at the edges. The bagel itself was loaded with toppings on top and bottom. 100% the best. I will re-visit this place over and over again. I found this place on a whim and so glad I did. Their vegetable cream cheese is unlike any other- it has actual generous pieces of actual carrot, cucumber, pepper and red onion (without the onion being overpowering) It was delicious!! Their bagels are tasty and very fluffy. Totally happy with this place I have high standards for bagels and these guys make em themselves. They're light and soft. Their cream cheese selection is decent. I've started getting sandwiches from them and their tuna and egg salad is decent too, not as good as the bagels themselves but good. I went here jut to give it a shot and was given a cold and I emphasize cold bagel with what looked to be half of an egg and maybe 1 whole slice of bacon. If I could give no stars I would, I use to come here all the time with my football buddies after practice and it was cheap and delicious and in my opinion it use to be my favorite bagel place. But today I went here for my usual Taylor ham egg and cheese and it's been almost a year since I've been to Nicks but besides the slight price increase which isn't my issue as inflation is very much affecting food costs. When I got my sandwich it was nothing what I remembered it being, the bagels weren't even on display which leads me to believe they were old not even fresh bagels and I know this because it was hard and barley chewy and delicious, the cheese wasn't even melted on my sandwich and the egg looked like it wasn't even a full egg. The old man running this place isn't sanitary at all and is touching everything along with your sandwich which is absolutely repulsive. This was honestly a joke and I recommend going to hot bagels just a little bit down the road from this shithole. Like I said this place use to be good but now it's time for this guy to shut the place down because there are way to many people thinking the same as me. Nick's bagels are some of the best I ever had (move over NYC's Essa-Bagel). These bagels could definitely hold their own in any NYC bagel blind test championship. Whenever I head to the West Coast, I always make sure to stop by and pick up a baker's dozen for my foodie friends in LA. Which is great, because Nick is always open at the wee hours of the morning (at least early as 5am...but probably even earlier). My mom tends to argue his coffee isn't the strongest, but as Goldilocks would say....I think this one is "jusssssssst right." Oh and my boyfriend who's lived in NYC for at least 5 years is obsessed with these bagels. Does anyone know if the owner sold this shop? Fernando, the cook, was very rude and disrespectful today and told me he owns the shop now. Fernando did not ring up my sandwich and muffins on the cash register as he usually does and took my card to charge it without telling me the price. I have patronized this establishment for several years and I am very disappointed in Fernando's behavior. He apologized for his behavior, but I still want to speak to the owners. I have stopped going to Nick's bagels after a number of issues. First off, they never wear gloves while handling the food. The last time I went the old man microwaved my bagel. I assume he did this because it was left over from the day before. I took one bite and threw it out. The are also very cheap with the napkins. Garlic bagel with egg & Taylor ham, mayo and Sriracha is an awesome combo. A generous amount of ham. I would go back. The guy was very nice.

I ordered 2 bacon egg & cheese on a Bagel. Got home and they were on a ROLL. Not to mention, barely anything inside the rolls (look at pic). I had to cook an extra egg because all we could taste was bread. The bagels here are good. So If you go here just get the bagels. Like someone else mentioned, for $4, I expect the sandwich to be more filled & NOT like I'm only tasting the bread. Sucks when small business cut cost by being cheap with the food, but then they lose business because ppl will never come back to buy anything. I try now to leave negative reviews but I think people really need to be aware of this if they are new to the area. So this little shop in the mini strip mall on Kinderkamack Road is probably the only local breakfast place in River Edge. While I feel the food is just average, the service is really terrible - for the few minutes that you are in there or even on the phone placing an order, the old man is quite rude and in a terrible hurry. His assistant is much better. Save yourself the trouble of starting your day in a bad mood and head to Bagel Twist in Teaneck on Queen Anne Road about 10 minutes away.
