This place is terrible, I stopped by for the first time with a co worker to grab some breakfast, ordered turkey and noticed there was a package of turkey sitting in the refrigerator, I politely asked the guy if that was the turkey he was going to use, when he said yes I told him I would change it to something else. This is before he even started to make the sandwich, he got so angry and slid the bagel he was cutting for me in the garbage and told me to leave. This guys attitude is terrible, other customers walked out of the place. Then he started to yell at me as these two women just stood next to me in awe. Then he took his phone out and appeared to take a video or picture of me, it was like a circus. We wound up just leaving, a terrible experience, this place shouldn't even be in business read more

Last two times I got a sore in my mouth after eating a bagel. I don't know if they're adding a lot of salt or what. Maybe just me.

The worst service ever. I simply asked for a bagel that was not toasty looking and the cashier became confrontational. He told not to come back again since I don't like the way he picks a bagel. Quality/Food: I feel like bagels along Kinderkamack vary year to year. This year (24-25) it's all about Nick's. I've been to Sunrise, Supreme (not on Kinder) and Kinderkamack Bagels all within the past month and I feel that Nick's consistently has the best bagels. I can't speak to the sandwiches, but for a go and grab Everything, Plain, etc, Nick's is my preferred choice. I've noticed other places also undergoing "shrinkflation". Without saying which place, the other day I got an order and I swear their bagels were what I would consider "mini-size" for kids. Plus they were extremely hard. Haven't experienced that once at Nick's. Service: The service is always friendly and I don't feel rushed. Ambience: There is no ambience though. Grab a bagel, say hello, and go. Lol. read more

I rarely write reviews but had to take a second to recognize Nick's. I've been coming to this bagel shop for most of my life and being a NJ native feel like I have the right to say, damn, they are consistently my favorite bagel. They're fresh and fluffy without beyond overly dense - the service has always been great. It's old school inside which I love, the prices are beyond fair (especially now) and it's a pleasure to visit. Put it on your list. Nicks!!!! read more

I ordered an pumpernickel bagel with ham eggs and one with cream cheese. This was a large bagel. It was filled a generous amount of cream cheese, slightly melting and overflowing at the edges. The bagel itself was loaded with toppings on top and bottom. 100% the best. I will re-visit this place over and over again. Totally happy with this place I have high standards for bagels and these guys make em themselves. They're light and soft. Their cream cheese selection is decent. I've started getting sandwiches from them and their tuna and egg salad is decent too, not as good as the bagels themselves but good. Not the cleanest looking or seemingly nicest staff but they kinda give what they get verses a blanket fake smile across the board, which personally, I prefer. I found this place on a whim and so glad I did. Their vegetable cream cheese is unlike any other- it has actual generous pieces of actual carrot, cucumber, pepper and red onion (without the onion being overpowering) It was delicious!! Their bagels are tasty and very fluffy. The sweet man who helped me threw in two extra bagels on the house when I bought 1/2 dozen (I think he's the owner) I don't even live in the area and will be stopping in whenever I'm close by Love this place!! read more

I have never had such a bad bacon egg and cheese before. I went here jut to give it a shot and was given a cold and I emphasize cold bagel with what looked to be half of an egg and maybe 1 whole slice of bacon. I was very tempted to go back in and ask him to either remake the sandwich or give me a refund. Was shocked to see this place "open" at 5 am. Stopped in and proceeded to wait about 5 min without anyone coming out to greet so I left. Next day same thing stopped in but this time guy was in the back cutting the dough. He sees me but doesn't greet or anything. I wait about 3 minutes and kept looking at him to see if he would acknowledge me at all. Finally comes to the register asks me what I need . Long story short told him I was surprised that there was a bagel shop open at 5 in jersey. He tells me we're not and ignores me when I ask why the sign is on and door wide open. Nick's bagels are some of the best I ever had (move over NYC's Essa-Bagel). These bagels could definitely hold their own in any NYC bagel blind test championship. Whenever I head to the West Coast, I always make sure to stop by and pick up a baker's dozen for my foodie friends in LA. Which is great, because Nick is always open at the wee hours of the morning (at least early as 5am...but probably even earlier). My mom tends to argue his coffee isn't the strongest, but as Goldilocks would say....I think this one is "jusssssssst right." Oh and my boyfriend who's lived in NYC for at least 5 years is obsessed with these bagels. I'm convinced he sleeps over just so he can wake up and grab a classic ham, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. Thanks to Nick, I can now see my boyfriend more often! read more

If I could give no stars I would, I use to come here all the time with my football buddies after practice and it was cheap and delicious and in my opinion it use to be my favorite bagel place. But today I went here for my usual Taylor ham egg and cheese and it's been almost a year since I've been to Nicks but besides the slight price increase which isn't my issue as inflation is very much affecting food costs. When I got my sandwich it was nothing what I remembered it being, the bagels weren't even on display which leads me to believe they were old not even fresh bagels and I know this because it was hard and barley chewy and delicious, the cheese wasn't even melted on my sandwich and the egg looked like it wasn't even a full egg. The old man running this place isn't sanitary at all and is touching everything along with your sandwich which is absolutely repulsive. This was honestly a joke and I recommend going to hot bagels just a little bit down the road from this shithole. Like I said this place use to be good but now it's time for this guy to shut the place down because there are way to many people thinking the same as me. The best part was the 3$ chocolate milk not even the sandwich. I wish I could get my 8$ back because this was a complete joke. read more

This place used to be really good. Not any more. The last 3 times we went, bagels were rubbery, not fresh. They tasted microwaved. The guy at the front either uses his bare hand or a dirty glove that he uses to handle the money, crack raw eggs, touch the finished bagel, but the main issue is bad bagels That don't taste fresh Anymore. read more

Does anyone know if the owner sold this shop? Fernando, the cook, was very rude and disrespectful today and told me he owns the shop now. Fernando did not ring up my sandwich and muffins on the cash register as he usually does and took my card to charge it without telling me the price. I have patronized this establishment for several years and I am very disappointed in Fernando's behavior. He apologized for his behavior, but I still want to speak to the owners. I just left this place, the gentleman who made my coffee and bagel was so negative. He had an annoyed look on his face as if my presence was a burden to him. I have stopped going to Nick's bagels after a number of issues. First off, they never wear gloves while handling the food. The last time I went the old man microwaved my bagel. I assume he did this because it was left over from the day before. I took one bite and threw it out. The are also very cheap with the napkins. They make an effort to one or two at the most in your bag. Terrible service and dirty workers. read more

After being away so long in University, it's always nice to come back and have some Jersey Bagels. Can't go wrong with a Taylor Ham Egg and Cheese or even just a simple Bagel with cream cheese. Owner is always very polite and the service is always fantastic. read more

I ordered 2 bacon egg & cheese on a Bagel. Got home and they were on a ROLL. Not to mention, barely anything inside the rolls (look at pic). I had to cook an extra egg because all we could taste was bread. The bagels here are good. So If you go here just get the bagels. Like someone else mentioned, for $4, I expect the sandwich to be more filled & NOT like I'm only tasting the bread. Sucks when small business cut cost by being cheap with the food, but then they lose business because ppl will never come back to buy anything. I try now to leave negative reviews but I think people really need to be aware of this if they are new to the area. So this little shop in the mini strip mall on Kinderkamack Road is probably the only local breakfast place in River Edge. While I feel the food is just average, the service is really terrible - for the few minutes that you are in there or even on the phone placing an order, the old man is quite rude and in a terrible hurry. His assistant is much better. Save yourself the trouble of starting your day in a bad mood and head to Bagel Twist in Teaneck on Queen Anne Road about 10 minutes away.
