I ended up trying two pizzas: the Charcotta pizza, & the chicken sausage, artichoke, and pesto pizza. Between the two pizzas, I enjoyed the Charcotta pizza more. We have been in love with Fresh Bros pizza for years, since pre-Covid...especially my wife. Great pizza with great ingredients. For my wife and I Fresh Bros in Newport Beach on 17th & Irvine has been a standard for us every Friday night that we are in town and not traveling. I was pleased to personally meet one of the principal/owners and his wife 2 years ago at the Rose Bowl when UCLA played U. of Iowa Hawkeyes. Was so excited to see Fresh Bros selling pizza at the Rose Bowl!! I ran over and told the owner how I drive to the other side of the Newport Bay (as opposed to the store around the corner from me) because I like the people better there and the reliable service...he said he was aware of the service issues. Our standard order for years has been 2 medium size 1 topping pizzas...mushroom for the wife and sausage for me...almost every Friday. Price was $22+ tax and I would leave $5-10 cash for the crew. A couple of months ago they informed me that the $22+ deal no longer existed and it was now $27+...well, I guess everything is going up and I still love FB pizza! Yesterday I called in my standard order and was quoted the $27+ When I arrived the staff rang up $36.09, which I questioned. Apparently it was the standard price for 2 medium pizzas, but the only discount was for a cheese and a pepperoni...neither of which we prefer...so wouldn't you just replace the pepperoni with sausage and charge for the mushroom?....no, additional topping charge for each pizza. Ok, I get it, but the way in which the message was delivered by the staff was without any warmth or professional delivery, but a "that's the way it is"...the young Hispanic heavy set girl was rude and indifferent...I told her I had been coming to FB every Friday for years and she said thank you and walked away, horrible service and attitude. Price changes and increases I can understand, but rudeness and disrespect I do not. Are we going to use the excuse that this is just how the youth of today behaves? Came here for lunch one afternoon and wanted some serious protein, so I order 10 wings and a slider (free with yelp check-in of course) and was very happy with my meal. This was my first time trying Fresh Brothers; I had heard a lot of great things about it. I was hesistant to try because honestly it seemed overpriced. I decided to give it a shot one day for dinner. We decided to get a Large Charcotta pizza. The reason I removed a star is because this Large is not large in consideration to other places. That makes me feel like it is indeed overpriced pizza. Also, the flavors were really nothing to write home about. Granted, this is the only pizza from them I have tried. I would give this place another shot and maybe try a deep dish from them. This one just felt like bread to me. Very thin, a little overcooked as well. I think the fact it was overcooked took away from the pizza especially because it is so thin. Very underwhelming pizza. I don't see what the big deal is about Fresh Brothers. I had the Works, deep dish, which was severely undercooked. Bread was soggy and tasted like sandwich bread instead of real deep dish pizza crust, probably didn't help that it was really undercooked. My fiancé had the gluten free dough with pepperoni. Problem was, her pizza was overcooked and burnt. It seems like both our pizzas were thrown in at the same time and taken out together as well, problem is, a deep dish with everything on it requires longer cook time than a thin crust , with only pepperoni. Found this place on Yelp while searching for gluten free options for our 7 year old who is allergic. We ordered the food to go and it was excellent. We got 2 salads, 2 gluten free pizzas, and the "chicken bites" off the gluten free menu. My wife especially loved the pizza crust. I loved the salads. I would be giving 5 stars but they only gave us 1 fork for 2 salads, one actual napkin, and we asked for ranch and they didn't give us any. Normally that wouldn't bI a big deal but we're staying at a nearby hotel so it kinda sucks.
