Came here on a Wednesday afternoon at 3:30pm on the way to the Hilary Duff concert. It was pretty quiet inside with music playing on the overhead speakers. There was only a group of two eating inside and there were plenty of tables to choose from. We were greeted at the register right away and they were pretty friendly. Customer service was about standard. My wife and I ordered the house box with original flavor, spicy popcorn chicken with ranch, and a side of garlic noodles (since I've heard so much about it on IG reels). The food came out about 10mins after ordering at it was exactly as they say it is. So crispy and juicy. The water matching they have is top tier and came out super cold and crispy. I am so glad my bf told us to stop by here when we were in LA; because this was the best thing we ate out here during our little weekend trip! Mama Hieu's started out during COVID and was a small business that was selling plates from the house and due to all of their success, opened up two brick and mortar locations! The spicy garlic butter chicken was soooo good and crispy! It was actually pretty spicy too. I love how they included the pickled veggies! The box came with 7 wings and two scoops of rice and your choice of sauce. We got the Mama Sauce, which was a mayo like sauce. We didn't know what the Andy's Special flavor tasted like, but the workers explained that the flavor is similar to Vietnamese style crab (cua rang). So like oyster sauce, garlic, fish sauce like flavor; sticky. It was hella good!!! No need to dip in the side sauce either. Their fried chicken comes in many unique flavors like salted egg yolk and fish sauce. We weren't really feeling the garlic noodles; come here for the fried chicken box with rice instead! Yummy yummy yummy fried chicken! Maybe it's because I'm partial to Asian-inspired flavors, but the fish sauce glaze fried chicken is the best! It's the only flavor I order, actually. I always get the house box which comes with 7 chicken wings, rice, pickled veggies and sauce! Staff is friendly, and they take orders quickly, but during lunch rush hours or promotions, the store can get packed! For the amount of customers though, I'd say they're pretty quick at pumping out completed orders. Parking, however, can be a nightmare at this location. I was making it a habit in coming here when they started their weekly wednesday promos where $4 for 4 wings and then the following 2 weeks it was $8 for 8 wings. When I would come inside, I would see their other limited time food items, like their brussel sprouts and order that as well. I really enjoyed their brussel sprouts and now sad to see it gone. I joined the Mama Hieus App which makes ordering ahead easier for pickup. I really like the app bc its simple to plan your dinner ahead. You can pick the day and time you want to pick-up. If I could make one request, is if you can give customers (me) the option to pay like extra $1-$2 for their orders to be ONLY FLAT WINGS on small orders. The chicken is so well crispy and coated and the non flat wings are too meaty but then carry less of your delicious seasoning in my opinion. Does that request exist? It's a casual dining area with many occupied tables. We were lucky to snatch a table to sit after ordering at the register. Despite being busy, it didn't take too long for our number to be called. We ordered the box with half original garlic butter and half spicy garlic butter wings, which came with two generous scoops of rice. Both flavors had a Vietnamese-inspired dry rub where the spices really stood out. The wings were crispy on the outside and juicy and meaty in the inside. They were very garlicky, so be prepared. Both had a garlic butter base, but the spicy wings had a slightly different flavor with a nice kick that left a lingering tingle on your lips. We also ordered the garlic noodles, which felt more like a rich, cheesy pasta than traditional noodles. The thicker noodles were heavily coated and a bit heavy. The garlic flavor was strong and somewhat overpowering. The taste was decent, but the texture was not my favorite. Picked up Mama Hieu's for dinner and it did not disappoint! The staff were friendly and had many suggestions of what to try. The store is cozy and nicely decorated. They even came up with other items and flavors, including my recent favorite Andy's special. Long story short, I ordered from wings wednesday and was largely disappointed when I received certain wings that left more to be desired. I'll just leave it at that. As I was scrolling late at night on IG, mama hieu's IG story caught my eye. I decided to leave a comment not expecting a reply as I know that brand store IG accounts rarely comment back. Much to my surprise, Jimmy understood my problem and aimed to make it right again. After explaining to the cashier, I was very happy with the resolution. Additionally I wanted to talk about the Andy's Special House Box and revise my review to 5 stars based on this new offering. Andy's Special flavor is reminiscent of Asian Weddings where one of the dishes include a lobster and noodle garlic, green onion (scallion) mix. It is quite delectable. Somehow, Mama Hieu's has incorporate this flavor into the chicken wings to create the most satisfying crunch as each wing is covered in this batter, drenched with this sauce. This was $45 and also came with a side of garlic noodles, side of fries, and 3 dipping sauces. We also ordered 8 fish glazed wings for $15. The salted egg yolk wings were not good. I can barely taste any of the salted egg yolk. Even though I can see small bits of it on the wing. I felt like it was lacking or maybe we got a bad batch... all 20 of them. Everyone else that ate it said the same thing, so this wasn't just my opinion. The fish glazed wings were better and we can taste the flavor on these. The seasoning just wasn't as bold as I expected, and a more generous amount of green onions and garlic would've really elevated it. But I thought maybe they just had an off day. And since this is a new item perhaps they're still trying to tweak the recipe. I decided to give them another try a couple weeks later. And to my surprise, the wings were perfect this time around!
