Once again outstanding... went this past Friday at lunch time. They were super busy, but were able to get in and out. Was scared at first but perfect like always... food wises the cheese grits were the best grits I've ever had.

Fresh Chef in Mooresville. I enjoyed stopping in for dinner with family. The daily drink special was a margarita for $5. It was served in a tall glass and hit the spot. I ordered the Grilled Salmon served with cilantro rice and broccoli for my entree. This is one of my staple entrees when visiting Fresh Chef locations. I was particularly hungry this Friday evening and enjoyed my drink and dinner before thinking about taking a photo! The meal was served promptly and was scrumptious. We shared the key lime pie for dessert, which was pleasantly delicious. I remembered to take a photo of the pie. The young staff members were cordial and polite - very well done.

What a terrific find from a web search for "restaurants with salads". Wife and I had a wonderful meal. We had a shared appetizer, each had a glass of wine and entree size salads, all of which was delicious, for $70 + tip.

It's a good little spot.... This place is smaller than the other locations, and most people don't know it exists--I'm not referring to all the people in the world, but that would also be the case. I was referring to the people in the Lake Norman area. If you say Fresh Chef, they think of the original location in Cornelius. Or they might think of a dude with a mustache in a chef hat. If you do happen to find this Fresh Chef off Brawley School Road in Mooresville, you will find a great staff, a good burger, pretty good fries, an excellent teriyaki wrap, superb cilantro rice, a delicious brownie-ice-cream thing (whip cream included), and good music. The only minor negatives were that prices are slightly high, and my son's burger was more Medium Well than Medium but no place is perfect and the food is truly very good. I didn't have a drink on this occasion but it seems like a great place to unwind with a wine or Old Fashioned. It's more of a chill place than a high-energy place. And it's casually classy without being pretentious. Overall, definitely recommended!

I was in the mood for a salad and stopped here for the first time. The vibe is cool here and we sat at a comfy table. Our server was very attentive and we reviewed our food in a reasonable amount of time. I tried the Blackened Chicken Wrap with a side of Kale salad. The salad had a kick to it and was very good. The wrap consisted of: Blackened chicken breast, mixed greens, tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, herb vinaigrette, cucumbers, sautéed peppers and onions. This was filling and flavorful. I could only eat half my lunch. I really enjoyed this wrap and savored the taste.

I'd been to a Fresh Chef location before, but it had been a while. I met up with a friend for lunch here and for a Monday, I was surprised that the parking lot was full. However, we still received prompt service, so I think the parking lot might just be a bit small. I have never had shrimp and grits, but I decided I had to change that today. When I ordered it, the waiter said, "Good choice!" I would agree after trying it. In my mind, I was just expecting a few pieces of shrimp on plain grits with a few pieces of garnish, so I was surprised when this came out. I dunno how it compares to other shrimp and grits, but I don't think I want to eat any others. This was a 10/10 for me! The portion was also huge, so you could easily get leftovers.

I absolutely loved it and I am obsessed with their make ceased salad with salmon. Every time I pass through it I think I need to come back. Service is friendly and fast, they have great suggestions we all loved all of our order. The am ambience is very nice it's better than dinner but not up scale just really well decorated fine dining chic cool even. I definitely recommends quick note they add a credit card service fee.

Overall experience. Meh. Came on a Tuesday around 12:30. Their parking lot is small and was full with no room to turn around if you find yourself in the same predicament I was in. So using your back up skills, just hope no one comes behind you. Good thing is they share a huge parking lot with Publix. Walked in and was kindly greeted and sat at the bar top area. Came for some grub and to work for a bit. They don't have WI-FI so unless you have a great hotspot, this isn't the place to do so. All the staff I came across or overheard were friendly and prompt. Food and drinks wise: I ordered a beer. Was served flat so she had to go to the back to replace something and that corrected the problem. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on a hamburger bun rather than the Texas toast. They grilled the Texas toast, so I asked for them to do the same for the bun. It wasn't. And I would have assumed the cheese would be melted on the sandwich but came out with sprinkled cold cheese. It wasn't bad, but it was good either. The carrots looked delicious and I would have assumed a ton of flavor. Bland and missing something to really make them pop. I added salt and it helped, but took two bites and was over them. They do half off bottles of wine on Tuesdays, so that's a plus!

Let me tell you the staff was so kind! I had ordered my food online and was being picked up by my co-worker among other orders. Well by the time it was time for me to go to lunch, she had forgotten to pick mine up. So I went to fresh chef to pick up my order, the manager Alexis without hesitation had my order remade, she's like your order has been sitting there for a while. I shared with her that they forgot mine by accident. It's so refreshing to see that! I am a regular here and definitely recommend. Thank you Alexis.

Great food and great service but they don't do brunch!! They do have mimosas and bloody Mary's though!!

    Gregory B.

The pasta and chicken were great. The chicken was seasoned well and there was a perfect amount of sauce on the pasta. I would definitely get it again and wouldn't feel obligated to try anything new. My only gripe is that for the price, the amount of grits was pretty lackluster. They tasted great but only lasted about 6 spoonfuls.

I ordered the pork belly bao buns, but they missed the mark for me. Coming from NY, I'm used to bao buns being marshmallow-soft and pillowy, but these were a hard, and the pork belly itself was quite tough. Our wonderful waitress noticed I only took one bite and brought the manager over. He explained that the cut is naturally mostly fat, which I understand, but the texture just wasn't quite right because it should be tender not tough. I declined a replacement dish, and he kindly credited it on our bill, though the interaction felt a little awkward. My husband's salmon unfortunately had a very heavy mustard flavor. The spinach farrotto underneath was quite salty. Since there isn't a kids menu which is fine, my daughter ordered the burger plain, but it wasn't really a hit for her. My coconut guava Paloma was okay definitely the best part of my meal though it tasted a little artificial. The ambiance has a lot of potential, and they had live music playing. However, it was a bit too loud for the space, forcing guests to raise their voices just to speak to each other. We also noticed our table hadn't been wiped down thoroughly before we sat down. The absolute silver lining of our evening was our waitress. She was incredibly sweet, highly attentive, and took great care of us. She is truly the reason I am giving 3 stars. She mentioned that they offer a completely different menu for brunch. Because the setting is so pretty and the service was so good, we might give them another chance for brunch down the road, but we likely wouldn't return for dinner. Proof that lighting and plating can hide a lot! Captured these beautiful views last night, even though the dinner itself was a bit of a letdown.

The shrimp wrap, however, was disappointing. It had very little shrimp and seemed to rely heavily on overcooked bacon and an abundance of lettuce, which made it tough to chew and left it lacking balance. The menu offers unique flavors and creative combinations, but in this dish, there seemed to be more emphasis on presentation and concept than substance.

Our server, Payton, was kind, provide good service throughout our meal. I ordered the fish and chips and the steak, and both were very good. The beautiful waterfront view and live music made for a relaxing and enjoyable evening. My only suggestion is for the staff who seat guests. First impressions are everything in hospitality, and I noticed the menus and napkins were tossed onto the table rather than being placed down with care. It may seem like a small detail, but it sets the tone for the entire dining experience. I work in the hospitality industry and have traveled all over the world, and I've learned that outstanding customer service is just as important as great food. Even on busy nights, those little touches make guests feel welcome and encourage them to come back.

2nd edit .. i am finished exchanging with the owner. My record stands for itself on Yelp and so…read moredoes the owner's. Negative reviews boil down to the way she treats customers and the environment she promotes. But as she likes to say... NEXT .. This is bullying behavior and it doesn't look very professional. On every review platform others have been treated exactly the same. A Tip? for what exactly? The stellar service? Ruining my birthday dinner? Maybe she should pay her tip as the owner for treating customers this way. It IS refreshing to hear her defend her employees, as I have read comments by former employees she's treated horribly. My daughter-in-law simply said she felt sorry for the server working under these conditions. The owner responds to unfavorable reviews harshly. She wasn't present, didn't know the facts, yet responded within minutes of my review. To correct the account she provided: WE asked for the police after reaching an impasse. We were speaking with the manager, not "scolding" her daughter. We asked for the owner's contact information because we did not know the manager was her daughter. Once we learned that, my daughter-in-law asked for her father's information, assuming the owner might be "Eddie." It was an innocent misunderstanding. There was no shouting or harshness. Two steaks were overcooked. We intended to pay our $197 bill; we never refused. The police can confirm that. We never saw a receipt, only the total on a check. The claim that we refused payment is false. The fish remake offer came much later, after escalation, not immediately. I've written over 69 reviews in 14 years, and only four have been one-star reviews. This is the only review I've had to edit in response to untrue claims. We chose this restaurant to celebrate despite locals warning us about bad experiences. The menu looked promising. Most of the food was fine; the issue was service. As long as everything goes perfectly and you don't complain, you'll probably be fine. We were seated on a side patio in direct sun with no shade despite having a very fair-skinned infant with us. We asked to move and were reseated inside, even though we had requested a lake view, believing this was the only patio. We were not told there was a shaded back patio. The hostess made it feel like an inconvenience. Our server later explained seating is based on server quotas, not guest preference. We rarely saw our server; expo delivered most food. When I spoke to someone in a "Staff" jacket about seating (later identified as the owner's daughter), she turned away without engaging. The issue escalated when both steaks were overcooked twice. After another wait, a manager arrived who had been shucking oysters nearby without acknowledging us. Her shirt was soiled, which raised concern about presentation. She said inconsistent steak cooking was not something they could control. The steak was remade, but still overcooked. Because it was my birthday, my husband waited to eat with me while others started. By the time my replacement arrived, his fish sandwich was cold and no longer served at an appropriate holding temperature, which raised concerns about food safety. We again asked to speak with someone and were told it was the owner's daughter. We said we would pay for everything except the overcooked steak and cold sandwich. She refused. Because we could not resolve it, we asked for police assistance. Employees stood near the front door though we had never refused to pay. The sandwich was later offered to be remade, but by then we were ready to leave. The issue was never payment. It was poor food quality, poor service, and refusal to correct a reasonable complaint. The steak was eventually removed from the bill. The issue came down to a cold sandwich and the expectation that a party dining together should eat together. When mistakes happen, acknowledgment matters more than excuses. I have dined worldwide and rarely experienced service like this. After reading other reviews, I noticed a pattern of the owner dismissing feedback and responding defensively rather than constructively, which may explain the low ratings. Aside from this restaurant, we had a wonderful visit to the area and found other great restaurants. I only wish we had read reviews beforehand. The police told us the owner said we were no longer welcome back. OH Darn.
