Everything was just a little bit off. It seems like they have a floating service, which was actually nice. There was always a waiter or waitress available. And the restaurant is nicely, decorated and lit low creating a somewhat romantic ambience. Food, though... Spinach artichoke dip was fantastic, especially if you like really really small portions. My medium rare steak was a hockey puck. Not a drop of pink. And the blue cheese was just sprinkled over the top with no heat applied. Could've just pulled that off my salad. As with the blue cheese, my mashed potatoes seemed like the toppings were added as an afterthought. Nothing about this meal integrated well. Both of the salads were just OK as well. Nothing that would get me out of the house. I won't be coming back unless I get a hankering for that tiny spinach artichoke dip. read more

Came here for the first time today with my grandpa and great uncle ; Who are usual visitors. We were seated and I got a water to drink. Then I ordered the club sandwich with fries. Waited around 10 minutes before the food came out. Our waitress asked if I needed anything else so I said "ranch please" they didn't have RANCH bruh. So they brought me a creamy garlic sauce instead which was fine. My food was good and the fries were crispy and fresh as can be. I liked the place pretty good. read more

Fresh Chef in Mooresville. I enjoyed stopping in for dinner with family. The daily drink special was a margarita for $5. It was served in a tall glass and hit the spot. I ordered the Grilled Salmon served with cilantro rice and broccoli for my entree. This is one of my staple entrees when visiting Fresh Chef locations. I was particularly hungry this Friday evening and enjoyed my drink and dinner before thinking about taking a photo! The meal was served promptly and was scrumptious. It's a good little spot.... This place is smaller than the other locations, and most people don't know it exists--I'm not referring to all the people in the world, but that would also be the case. I was referring to the people in the Lake Norman area. If you say Fresh Chef, they think of the original location in Cornelius. Or they might think of a dude with a mustache in a chef hat. If you do happen to find this Fresh Chef off Brawley School Road in Mooresville, you will find a great staff, a good burger, pretty good fries, an excellent teriyaki wrap, superb cilantro rice, a delicious brownie-ice-cream thing (whip cream included), and good music. The only minor negatives were that prices are slightly high, and my son's burger was more Medium Well than Medium but no place is perfect and the food is truly very good. I didn't have a drink on this occasion but it seems like a great place to unwind with a wine or Old Fashioned. It's more of a chill place than a high-energy place. And it's casually classy without being pretentious. Overall, definitely recommended! read more

Our server was very attentive and we reviewed our food in a reasonable amount of time. I tried the Blackened Chicken Wrap with a side of Kale salad. The salad had a kick to it and was very good. The wrap consisted of: Blackened chicken breast, mixed greens, tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, herb vinaigrette, cucumbers, sautéed peppers and onions. This was filling and flavorful. When I ordered it, the waiter said, "Good choice!" I would agree after trying it. In my mind, I was just expecting a few pieces of shrimp on plain grits with a few pieces of garnish, so I was surprised when this came out. The food is great We love the food. The problem is when you order carry out. You have to open up everything and make sure you have what you ordered because they will forget something every time. Might be salad dressing might be a side dish but they will forget something if you do not check. I have even gotten the wrong food altogether, but at least four different times out of five that I've carried out they forgotten dressing or something. Overall experience. Meh. Came on a Tuesday around 12:30. Their parking lot is small and was full with no room to turn around if you find yourself in the same predicament I was in. So using your back up skills, just hope no one comes behind you. Good thing is they share a huge parking lot with Publix. Walked in and was kindly greeted and sat at the bar top area. Came for some grub and to work for a bit. They don't have WI-FI so unless you have a great hotspot, this isn't the place to do so. All the staff I came across or overheard were friendly and prompt. Food and drinks wise: I ordered a beer. Was served flat so she had to go to the back to replace something and that corrected the problem. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on a hamburger bun rather than the Texas toast. They grilled the Texas toast, so I asked for them to do the same for the bun. It wasn't. And I would have assumed the cheese would be melted on the sandwich but came out with sprinkled cold cheese. It wasn't bad, but it was good either. The carrots looked delicious and I would have assumed a ton of flavor. Bland and missing something to really make them pop. I added salt and it helped, but took two bites and was over them. They do half off bottles of wine on Tuesdays, so that's a plus! read more

We normally love the food at Fresh Chef, however we went for an early dinner for my birthday and were very disappointed. They brought out mushrooms instead of Brussel Sprout. They fixed it. However, we ordered the "Grilled Brussels Sprouts" and they brought them out boiled and microwaved. We asked the waitress and she said this is how they are now prepared all of the time. This was combined with onions on a sandwich when we requested none, and missing the extra pickles we asked for. They replaced the sprouts with our other favorite, kale salad, which was so far from the normal taste and lacking any dressing. Poor quality meal today! I hope they get better as we used to eat here frequently but this is our second bad meal. One shot left to improve. read more

We met family here for an early dinner on a Wed night and didn't enjoy the food at all. None of us enjoyed our entrees. . I've eaten as this location before and had a very positive experience so I'm going to guess this was just a one off night for the kitchen. It was $5 margarita night and those were ok, a little light on the tequila tho, but still good. My ribs were dry and drowned in sauce. The french fries were good tho and I shared it with my granddaughter. She ordered pasta Alfredo and didn't like that it was covered with green onions which couldn't really be picked off. The onion taste was already too strong on the pasta. Restaurant kitchens should never garnish anything ordered from the kids menu with onions of any kind. Chances are, a child won't eat it. My grandson's burger was over cooked, dry and tough so he didn't finish it. If it weren't for the fries, both kids would've gone home hungry. My hub's seafood pasta had no scallops, 5 pieces of shrimp, a handful of broccoli and a salmon filet on the side. He was told that the kitchen doubled the shrimp because they were out of scallops. So I'm guessing the seafood pasta normally has 2-1/2 pieces of shrimp? The salmon was overcooked and the sauce on this dish was not visible. This entree was not worth the over $20 price tag. Our daughter always gets the salmon piccata which is her favorite and usually pretty good but this night it was sadly lacking in flavor. She didn't finish it either. So the only things we enjoyed that night were the margaritas and the fries. Service was good and prompt. The front of house staff was great. The food just sucked. Meals are consistently good but for me just slightly miss the mark. When ordering a entree with sauce, i.e., Marsala or Piccata, there is not enough sauce to enhance the pasta. The meat is moist and has the sauce flavor but just a few more tablespoons of sauce on the pasta would make it perfect IMO. The chicken was tender and tasty. Pasta is good, don't know why they put cheese on mashed potatoes. When I order, I just have to remember to ask for extra sauce and no cheese on mashed potatoes and it's alll good. read more

We ordered MW & WD. Excellent!!!! The plate was perfect . My husband and I devoured everything. We couldn't decide on which dessert so we tried all 3. OMGOODNESS OMGOODNESS OMGOODNESS. Our favorite was the Strawberry Shortcake. All made from scratch and delicious. The key lime pie is rich and flavorful. Chocolate chip brownie w ice cream... can't go wrong, especially w no nuts. Note there is NO freezer at this restaurant so everything is made fresh and from scratch! If we lived here we would be here multiple times a month!!! Finally a place with great service and great food at a good price. Prime rib, salmon and bleu salad were great. Homemade smoked salmon was great. The bloody Mary was solid and at $6 was the fairest price I've paid for a cocktail in a year. The only total suckage thing is they add a fee for using a credit card and I paid cash so they pissed me off big time. The staff from the front of the house to the back of house are all amazing and so friendly!! The food is so good, and came out in a very timely manner also. Only reason I'm giving it three stars is the benefit of the doubt. I've eaten at the original Fresh Chef in Cornelius many times which is suppose to have essentially the same menu with excellent results. We ate here about three weeks ago and at least I was very disappointed. We have a history with Fresh Chef going back to when they first opened in Cornelius. Food was somewhat eclectic but innovative and generally very good. Was expecting the same here. My wife ordered a Black and Bleu wrap and loved it. I ordered the Chicken Salad Sandwich and hated it. Chicken Salad with Cranberries is suppose to have a contrast in texture and taste and this had been left in the food processor to the point it was a amorphous mass with the consistency of mush and no defining character. Only reason I did not give a lower rating is because this is a new location and I've had similiar items at the mother store that were fantastic. Atmosphere is great. Somewhat bigger than Cornelius and they have spread out with good effect. No longer feel as cramped. Service is outstanding. When we walked in, it was the start of shift and they were having a shift meeting and everyone left enthusiastic and ready to work. Good sign of good management. Personally I'm going to consider there performance score as transient but based on finding, cannot rank higher. Will visit again in a couple of months and hopefully they will have resolved these issues. read more
