Been a while since I've been here and stopped in for lunch recently when running a Mooresville errand. The food is still great with this visit bringing a Carolina Dog and Angry Dog and I love what they've done with the bar. Rock and roll music themed, long and just a nice space over all. The food is amazing and has great prices too! But the service is absolutely terrible. We spent 20+ minutes waiting for our order to be taken. The guy behind the bar would continuously look in our direction seeing that we are done looking at the menu and ready to order. But he didn't wait on us until we had to get up ourselves and go to the bar to tell him we were ready to order our food. This has happened twice now at two different times we have went there. Recommended the food to a friend but warned them about the service. They experienced the same thing. So maybe order your food to go! read more

Found this little gem while searching through Yelp one day. The food is fast and freshly made. And the staff is very friendly. Restaurant has recently undergone a renovation and put in a beautiful old Chicago bar. But the real stars here are the ooey gooey cheesesteaks. We wanted to try somewhere we haven't been before tonight and we picked take out from Sumo Shack! I got the aloha burger and fries and my boyfriend got a KO BBQ Philly. While messy, I really liked my burger. (And I partly liked it because of how messy it was!) I thought the flavors were different than other places I've been and I'm never mad at that. Fries were good, even after driving home which is great! Not super soggy. We visited Sumo Shack after returning from the mountain area of NC. I've been really wanting to try this place, but it is quite a commute for those of us living in south Charlotte. Since this place was on the way home, it made for an easy stop. For a Saturday evening, they were not very busy. A couple of patrons inside, and no one outside on their patio. We elected for the patio since we had our dog with us and it was a nice evening. They offered to get water for our dog even though we already had some. Super friendly! Now onto the good stuff - what we got: Pimento Smash Lakeway Philly Mac and Cheese Sumo Fries All of it but the mac and cheese was outstanding. The burger, philly, and fries had so much flavor that it was shocking that the mac and cheese didn't. Maybe if I had stirred the cheesy topping into the mac, would have helped, but the base was not that flavorful. Was the perfect creamy consistency, but just didn't have much flavor. The philly might just be the best I've had in the Charlotte area - just so good! Service was outstanding. Couldn't have had a better visit - thank you Sumo Shack! read more

We had a group of 7 come in on a Monday night at 6pm. There are not many tables to speak of so we ate at the bar. That's OK. There was one bartender / server. It took a LONG time to get drinks but it took 1-1/2 hours to get food that was ordered. Sides were billed but not delivered (stricken from the bill later). The food was good (if adventurous) but not appreciated by some locals who like 'regular' food. One friend ordered a 12" OG Philly with mayo (no mayo ever appeared). Another's fries never showed. Another's wings never appeared. I want to like the place but the bartender/server never showed remorse for his inattention the whole night. My spicy bulgogi Philly was pretty good. Sumo Shack came highly recommended but their service was about the worst we've had in Mooresville. I feel bad but it leaves a bad taste in my group's mouth, you know? When Kenty posted pictures of this place, I knew I had to try it. We spent the day hiking near Boone and it wasn't too much further to go through Mooresville on our way home, so was our delicious reward. Covid-19: you can order and pay online through ChowNow. They do curbside delivery too. There's a picnic table in the parking lot where we enjoyed our food. What we ordered: the Sumo Philly, Sumo Mac and Cheese, Sumo Smash Burger, and Umami Dog (spicy everything). Everything was phenomenal. I think this was the best takeout meal we've had in quarantine. My favorite thing was the Sumo Smash Burger. Pro tip: add some Sumo Mac and Cheese to the burger. We got the 6 inch Sumo Philly and it was massive. It had so much meat it could have been a meal on its own. It was cheesy and so delicious. The hotdog was amazing as well. I recommend mixing up the mac and cheese to make sure the pork belly and bbq sauce are distributed evenly. It all seemed to be in the middle on ours. We live in south Charlotte and it's worth a trip to Mooresville just to try this restaurant! Stop by Red's Scratch Made for cookies for dessert! read more

Oh my gosh!! If you are craving your typical American food with an Asian twist, this is your place! I wanted something to really hit the spot and this did it for me. We ordered the sumo burger and the sumo chicken sandwich with a side of loaded fries and this was more than enough for two people! The food did take a bit long to come out, almost over 20mins, but that means it's made fresh I guess? The fries were actually very crunchy, which I liked and still maintained their crunch even with all of the toppings on top of it (sour cream, bacon, cheese sauce, green onions).
