First time trying a poke bowl and I have to say it blew my expectations!! I've always been skeptical as I'm not a huge fan of having raw seafood but it was extremely delicious! Since it was my first time, the menu looked a little too overwhelming for me with so many options. I knew I wanted something spicy with a little bit of sweetness but didn't know exactly what to get. One of their workers was kind enough to take the time and make the bowl the way she knew I would like it as I told her what I was looking for (Shoutout to Parisha !!!) Came here for the first time today after seeing the good reviews and I don't regret it at all! The cool vibe inside with the decor is great. I got 2 poke tacos and it was fresh and filling. It's a little bit pricey especially because they ask you to leave a tip after you pay..however it was worth every penny! The açaí bowl was delicious and extremely fresh. It was filled to the brim (literally overflowing) with granola, açaí, coconut, and all kinds of ripe fruit. They conveniently give you a plastic container with a lid if you ask for it to go because chances are even if you order the 16oz. You won't be able to finish it all in one sitting...sitting there is very pleasant the staff are very accommodating. The decor is modern and trendy. There is even a wall with a light up sign that says "high tides and good vibes" that is perfect to take a snap or post on Instagram. I was anxiously waiting for them to open. So on on their first week, I brought some of the members of my marketing team there for lunch. We all got a completely different poke bowl and each one looked and tasted amazing. The selection of toppings and sauces was perfect, the menu is easy to understand while still offering tons of really intetesting choices, and the food was super fresh and delicious. We were also all really impressed with the design of the restaurant. Very modern and cool. I had the pleasure of trying some of Ono Grinds Poke's delicious dishes at the midnight market in Jersey city. All the ingredients were super fresh! The poke bowls are mouth watering...they really put love into each bowl. I sipped on a fresh watermelon aguafresca that was so delicious and refreshing!! I could drink one everyday. And don't even get me started with their acai bowls...it was my first bowl ever and it was out of this world. I topped mine with coconuts, Nutella, peanut butter, strawberries and bananas. No thank you. Never again. First time ordering from there, on my second piece of fish, I flip over the third to find a marinated fly carcass. I called back and they made it such a hassle to get a return. I had pictures of it and everything! God knows what kinds of parasites I ingested and because our healthcare system is so wonderful I now probably have pets for life. No thank you to the extra protein. Never again. Edit: First of all, I don't lie. Second. I had someone that ate at your location bring me something because I was at an opening and couldn't leave the gallery. I still have pictures (in which you can see a full bowl that I did NOT continue eating) I will gladly post in this review. It's pretty disheartening to look forward to a meal and then find dead insects in your food, more so having to jump hoops to get a refund. I was told I needed to call a manager to get an approval for a refund because no one in the restaurant was given that authority. My card was not the one being used to purchase the food, so I wasn't able to take care of that portion if the problem. There was an insect in my food, my money should have been returned. Replacing my food was not an option as I didn't know if the same fish was being used for the replacement. I did call back immediately after I discovered the problem. It was your mistake and I couldn't take time away from work to go all the way back to the restaurant for a refund and come all the way back to my location during a very busy time. If you would have handle the situation at a prompt time and not accuse your customers of being liars, perhaps you'd have gotten a better review. So, again. No thank you. Second edit: yeah no buddy. That was a fly. Either way you lost a customer. Calling me a liar won't change the fact that you still got my money and I didn't get what I paid for. I wish I could give you -5 stars just based in your crappy customer service skills. I suggest you work on it. read more

I shouldn't this because I don't the word out, but this place is everything! From the moment you walk in you're happy. They even have good times/ good vibes graffiti on their walls. The ambiance is great. Service is very friendly and food is bomb. I would avoid going during main lunch hours because a line can grow but it moves quickly even if you do. I recommend building your own poke bowl and having fun with it. Everything is very fresh and if you want an extra boost try their cold brew. read more

Very nice concept of decorations, all inspired by nature. So are the food and drinks. Heathy and simple. I ordered a big bowl with almost every topping and a big drink. Drink is very good and creative. You can select a few different fruits that they cut small and add to lemonade. Taste good, colorful and different. Poke was fresh but not too tasty. Very plain. They're full of protein but they taste like milk shakes. Definitely try the mint one if you like mint chocolate chip ice cream. Their bowls are incredible. Big portions, even in the small size, and you can tell how fresh the ingredients are. So glad to have this place in Newark. read more

Worst experience- They wouldn't take a phone order, then when the online order had a technical issue- they said it couldn't be fixed and the credit card was already charged. Had to cancel the order totally and they still wouldn't take the order over the phone. Makes no sense!!!! Basically can't order from them! UPDATE- the owner went and above and beyond to rectify this poor first impression. The third time around ordering was much better. Until coming across this spot on UberEats, I had never had a poke bowl - let me tell you, it was delicious. I opted for the create your own bowl with grilled chicken and spicy tuna, both of which didn't disappoint. They have a variety of toppings to choose from and if you love spicy foods like me, you have to try their sriracha aoli - perfect amount of spice and gives it a ton of flavor. My last visit I also tried their West Coast Tacos which were equally as amazing and I went in store - cute little spot, extremely helpful and friendly employees. Definitely going back. read more

5 stars for the service. We ordered through the app and they called to clarify and confirm a couple things, which was better than assuming what we wanted. We got one of the tuna bowls with sriracha sauce and jalapenos and a build your own bowl with salmon and the yuzu soy. The tuna bowl was good but way too much rice. The salmon bowl needed more flavor and more salmon. There were like 6 or 7 small chunks in the whole thing. And because that's the only thing that was tossed in the sauce the rest just tasted like an undressed salad on top of rice. The quality of ingredients was really good, I just think the execution could have been a little better. Will definitely try again next time I'm in the area. Came here after work to try out some poke bowl for the first time. Kat was absolutely a saint she was patient and answered everything I needed to know because I was absolutely clueless. She made me a salmon bowl and trust me it was one of the greatest things I have ever tasted. Kat knew everything I would've liked, my man can't even do that lol. I love a good underdog story and having just moved to Newark, I've been rooting for this place to rise up and be a destination city. Ono Grinds Poke is emblematic of that. The fish is fresh, delicious and sustainably made. The ingredients are high quality. Their commitment Is unwavering. The staff are incredibly friendly, making me feel right at home. I got the Big Island Bowl and my fiancee got the Rainbow Falls bowl and we loved it. They give you a good amount of salmon and the pineapple helps the bowl come together. They also ask you how much sauce you want. I hate poke places that just drench it in mayo and aioli, OGP lets the ingredients stand on their own. The Acai bowl was solid and had a good texture. I'm really looking forward to trying their Pitaya bowl. I'm definitely making this place a regular go to spot. read more
