So I decided to order from this restaurant. You have such high hopes for these restaurants in your neighborhood and when they don't deliver it's very disappointing, especially when it's black on I ordered through Uber eats with a priority delivery that finally arrived and it's l only half my order which is unacceptable. Pay $53 only to get half my order...I was not very happy. I called the restaurant and spoke to a young lady, she apologize but nonchalantly said, the food is still here in the warmer. I don't have anyone here to bring it to you, but you can come get it if you want to. That's why I paid for a priority delivery service. I work overnights and didn't get back in my home till 3p. So by this time I'm exhausted. I showered, ordered my food and just wanted to eat my food and go to bed. The chipotle chicken might even be better! Small flavorful tender bits all around. The mac and cheese was a bit lacking - with there was more cheese flavor to go around. I first had this food during a Juneteenth celebration. I had their rice and peas, jerk chicken, and cabbage. It was all delicious. So delicious that afterwards, when I had forgotten the name and was trying to see if I can get to their restaurant, I literally scanned through every Caribbean restaurant in the vicinity until I found it. I've ordered delivery from them a number of times and have never been disappointed. Let me tell you about the oxtail plate. I always get the oxtail plate, with coconut rice, collards, and plantains. There are Caribbean places all around the Dorchester/Mattapan area, and they're hit or miss. I have never, ever had a bad oxtail plate from this place. Large pieces of oxtail, always cooked to the point that the meat is literally falling off the bone. I mean, I can use my fork and never have to pick up a piece. So damn good! I ordered a green smoothie, and they were flexible to take out ingredients as requested by a guest I was with but I got mine as is and it was a delicious way of getting my daily greens without being too sweet - they had something for everyone, including small portion options & and a variety of sides for set salty or spicy cravings! I ordered their empanada meal which brings 2 empanadas (larger than I expected) and you can pick from about 4 flavored protein filling options, plus a side of your choice. I choose the sweet plantains. -the empanada were bug, flakey and crunchy in all the right ways with a proportionate amount of filling (I saved 1 of 2 for later) -the sweetened fried plantains were perfectly cooked and ripened ( I've been too places that serve then not as soft or sweet as advertised) - the guests I was with ordered ox tail rice plates, Beet salad, coconut rice, their jersey chicken salad, and we all LOVED the seasoning, flavors, and overall yumminess of perfectly cooked cuisines! Service: We entered in as a semi hectic group of 5 woth one worker up front and she quickly and easily took our orders, answered our questions and was willing to even let us taste the jerk chicken to range a spice level (which was much appreciated!) -throughout our meal we saw chefs and other workers coming through the kitchen or employee areas so it was nice to see there was many hands available if support was needed. The food here is very bland and flavorless. While it could've been an "off" day, I wanted to delineate my observations nonetheless: 1. The food is nicely presented. My meal of jerk rice and beans and plantains and a side of Mac and cheese was very well presented and looked visually appealing. The portion sizes were also very hearty. 2. There was no saving the meal from the lack of flavor. Every single item I received was bland and flavorless. There was no "kick" to the jerk chicken, it was under seasoned and dry and was coated with a spice I could not discern but found very unpleasant (ground clove? All spice? Nutmeg?) 3. The accompaniment of the Mac and cheese was not enjoyable to say the least. While it boasted an appealing buttery crumb topping, it was very dry and pretty flavorless. There was no hint of cheese in this dish at all which made for a very lackluster culinary experience. 4. The greens were under seasoned and equally underwhelming. I had to add my own spices in order to make it semi palatable. In summary, I would not order from this establishment again. While they use fresh and locally sourced ingredients, it is evident they know little about piquing the palates of those accustomed to bold and delicious food flavor profiles. read more

The reviews were so good, the staff was so nice, and people kept materializing to place orders, so I was more than excited to get my meal when I finally placed mine. I ended up getting the jerk chicken plate with brown rice and curried vegetables, and the meal was a miss for me. The brown rice was bland and the jerk chicken was a bit dry and had a peculiar taste most likely due to the seasoning options. I tried to eat all three elements together and was expecting a harmonious burst of flavors, but all three had very distinct flavors that didn't go well together at all. I had lunch at an event catered by the FFG food truck today and it was absolutely delicious. Simple, fresh, and tasty. I got the garden salad with jerk chicken and it came with pulled chicken style breast meat in a light yet spicy seasoning on top of greens with roasted sweet potatoes, red onion, and goat cheese with a balsamic vinaigrette. Honestly it didn't sound like much when I read it off the menu but I was very surprised at how satisfying it was when I was eating. The various flavors paired so well with each other. I've been going to the food trucks across from South Station for lunch about once or twice a week for the past few months. Just discovered Fresh Food Generation today and it was hands down the best meal I've had from a truck, plus it was vegetarian. I got the rice bowl with red beans, sweet plantains, and herbed potatoes, and had to go back to give my compliments once I was done. These guys are the real deal! read more

I'm really excited about this addition to my Roxbury neighborhood lunch options. Though I'm skeptical of food trucks generally, for no good reason other than lack of familiarity, this place has gone a long way to curing my skepticism. First off, they take credit card. So if you, like me, assumed that food trucks were technologically behind, never fear -- you don't need cash to enjoy this food. (And tax is included in the price! What a nice thing.) The prices are super reasonable for the amount of food you're getting too -- eight bucks for a main and two sides! The choices are limited, and aren't really choices -- the two kinds of chicken (chipotle and jerk) taste very similar, to the point that it can be hard to tell which is which. It doesn't really matter though because they are both really very good. Though the cashier warned me that the jerk chicken was spicy, it was not really that hot unless you are literally allergic to spice. I had the bean stew and the coleslaw as sides, both of which were tasty, but especially the stew. In the future, I look forward to coming back and trying out some of the other greens options. Till then, I'll stand by the assessment that this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. As far as food trucks in Roxbury go, there is some challenge. Another food truck recently vacated the area because they weren't doing enough business. Honestly, this is fishy to me -- there are a lot of people in the area, and as a food truck as opposed to a brick and mortar store, you really have to do the legwork to establish your presence so that people know you are there. This food truck hasn't fled the scene yet, and I really hope they stick it out -- that said, they are only here a few days per week. If you're at Dudley Station, the food truck is incredibly obvious and easy to find though. Buy some food here and help them make a strong argument to stay in the neighborhood. read more

Checked out this healthyish food truck at City Hall the other day, and chose the $9 dinner entree portion (choice of 1 protein and 2 sides plus brown rice). I really enjoyed the herbed potatoes- tons of flavor- and the summer kale salad- large portion of really fresh kale/watermelon/feta/onion. But the chipotle chicken (not spicy), although flavorful, was on the dry side, and the brown rice was bland and hard. So just be aware there are some hits and some misses. read more
