Visiting Cleveland during an unprecedented heat wave and since the West Side market lacks good A/C, a friend recommended these guys. They also have really nice A/C!! :) Small shop, but with an amazing selection of steaks, sausages, cheeses, pork and etc. They also had some fresh vegetables, dry goods such as ketchup, beer, spices and breads. Service at the butcher shop was awesome, I was looking for a few large fillets, the gentlemen chopped them up and air sealed them for the ride home. They tasted amazing! So, when visiting the West Side market, you might want to start here first or at least pass thru on the way out. I think you will be impressed by what they have!! read more

Great place to shop for artisinal and local goods ranging from black pepper and rosemary crackers to to-go grass fed beef bolognese and a nice butcher counter as well. The butcher was a wonderful older gentleman who let me taste their most delectable ciccioli which is like a pork terrine with apricots in it. Melt in your mouth good! They also have various other jerky, pork pastrami (super fatty and thick and wonderful), etc. I also got some living arugula and they had a nice selection of produce and root vegetables. There are certain shops, restaurants and other venues that deserve high quality ratings. The product quality is good, the service attentive and sometimes proactive. OCP certainly deserves those ratings. But there is something more at OCP - the relationships they have with local farms, other providers, and their customers generates this larger atmosphere - call it a "community" - of a comprehensive appreciation, even celebration, of food. There is a high respect for the farmer, the animals, the product that makes it into their market. I can honestly say their shop, and associated farm share, has improved the quality of my and my wife's lives. Recently we attended one of their virtual presentations, this one on a Thanksgiving "beer dinner." They created "meal kits" which you pick up at the store - there are detailed instructions on how to heat / prep everything - and then you tune in for a zoom call where they go over things like how the turkeys are raised, instruction on recipes and cooking technique, introduction to interesting partners like cideries and craft micro breweries, a robust array of interesting topics. We are so happy we found this place!! We were looking for a local farm store with pasture-raised meats, A2/A2 milk, and organic produce. I love that this is both a butcher and a market, so you can get all the ingredients you need to make a nutrient dense meal. We go 1-2 times a week and have been blown away by both the quality and consistency of their products and the kindness of their staff. We have seen a lot of people purchase their farm eggs, which we hope to pick up next time around! They also sell flour, quinoa, jam, nut butters, wine, yogurt, handmade tofu, homemade pasta, etc. We picked up a cherry pie today with simple ingredients, which reminded me of something my Grandmother would make. I highly recommend their cheese curds (we have tried the garlic dill and cajun flavored curds), the Choriqueso smoked salchicha, the whole milk, and the chicken patties. We have been impressed with everything we have purchased from here, so you really can't go wrong! There is plenty of parking available across the street and around the corner. Let me first say that I shop Ohio City Provisions (OCP) quite often. I have been there probably over 10+ times this year (It's July 3rd currently). Lately, the taste that it has left me with is that the products are not worth the price (yes, I understand it's "farm based", maybe grass fed, local, etc.). Today, my bill hit me at $53. I had a bag of Shagbark Chips (which are an Athens Ohio producer which is fabulous), Wholesome Valley Farms salsa, one medium tomato, western ribs (on sale for $5 lb - package was $7), boneless chicken breast package (2 breasts) and Fermented Hot Sauce - Rippin Reaper - which I knew was $15. I was making chicken nachos and I wanted to splurge on the ingredients. First off, the Wholesome Valley Farms Salsa (which has a connection to OCP) was ok, at best. Nothing to write home about, esp. for the $7. Note: An email from OCP said their July 4th weekend special were these two (chips and salsa) for $9, save $2. When I got home, it did not ring up that way. Second Note: This has occurred to me a few times with OCP where the email touts a "special" that does not ring up that way. The medium tomato was $4/lb and rang up at $2.60 . Average tomato, again nothing to write home about. You could probably buy a tomato "on the vine" at the grocer for $2/lb. Lo and behold, the boneless chicken breasts are priced at $10.50/lb. I seasoned them and oven baked them with a temperature probe alerting me to 165 degrees. They were good, but again, not even close to $10.50/lb good. My hot sauce (I am a hot sauce junkie) again was good, but certainly not worth $15/bottle. It was very thin and I noticed that while it was in the bottle. It was a good heat for me, but I have a variety of hot sauces that deliver this for amounts around $10/bottle. So, long story short, I find Ohio City Provisions good, however I am coming to the conclusion that I do not find their products worth what they are charging. Will I return - yes, absolutely. However, based on the recent number of shopping experiences here, I am coming to the conclusion that what I receive is not worth the prices that they are charging. What a great little hidden treasure in the heart of Cleveland! This is a one stop show for unique finds, delicious meats, and wonderful selection of local goods. The meat and cheese selection here is absolutely divine. They have a wide selection for such a small place, but they butcher is great at helping you find exactly what you are looking for or pointing you in the right direction for something new. They also have such a great selection of local goods such as wines from Geneva, honey made right here in Cleveland, and veggies and fruits from local gardens. The store itself is so welcoming and surprisingly open for such a small size. You don't feel crammed in there and it might also help that the store associates are so friendly! I highly recommend checking this place out and grabbing some delicious meat and cheese (and probably a couple bottles of wine while you are at it) next time you are in the area! read more

Dogs distribute dander wherever they go, impulsively shake off loose hair and dirt and leave their distinctive doggy body odor in a place where every precaution should be taken to exhibit cleanliness. So I've shopped here a few times and have always been impressed. Today for St. Patty's I picked up the most awesome Reuben sandwich I've ever had. They took online orders and i was able to run in and get a great meal to-go. Thank you Ohio City for making my husband a very happy guy. We were able to split the sandwich and still have left over. Their website shows charcuterie platters for $30 (small), and $50 (large). We placed an order over the phone for a small platter, as it indicates that size feeds 8-10 people. When we came in to pick it up we were told it was $10/person, so $30 became $100. We were told the lower prices were Holiday specials. Nowhere on the website does it say anything about the prices being Holiday specials, nor does it indicate anywhere on the website that the actual charge is $10/person. They were adamant bout the price, and we needed the tray that day, so we paid the $100. Not only that, when we got home we realized that there were no pickles, no mustard and no preserves. We've shopped Ohio City Provision before, and their meats and cheeses are very good, but this has left us with a very bad taste in our mouths (pun intended), and we'll probably not patronize them in the future. -E.Z. read more

We stopped after a visit to the west side market. Ended up buying some beef hot dogs on a friend's recommendation. Also bought some bacon. We decided to try a dog when we got home. We ended up throwing them out. Too bad. I love a good beef hot dog. These were very off putting. Texture was ok, but the flavor was really odd. We just pitched $11 of food. That's right, $11 a pound for hot dogs Too bad. Curious to see how the bacon goes in the morning. read more

Nobody that works here has any clue how to take care of customers. There usually around 10-12 employees wandering around but only 1 (usually rude) person behind the butcher counter working. So there is always an unnecessarily long line. They need to learn to put customer service first. It is a bummer they are the only butcher shop in town. Every visit to OCP is miserable. read more

What a place for meat lovers. This store is a mecca of all things carnivore. There is a giant meat locker, butchery and a potpourri of local produce and unique farm items. Tonight is a one year anniversary party at OCP. I was invited by a friend to enjoy music, charcuterie, and a little wine. OCP prides themselves in grass fed beef. The selection always looks wonderful and fresh. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Especially if you are unfamiliar with what kind of meet you need or how to cook certain meats. Ain't no better place to pick up animal stock, Demi glacé and roll butter. It is actually a good-sized store but on the light side with items. Nonetheless, OCP offers expensive and less expensive cuts (like flank and bavette). There are also some really cool things like smoked turkey legs. Next time I will pick up some of thise. But for right now, I will start chipping away at the roll butter, use the stock as a soup base, and serve the Demi glace alongside a few gorgeous filets. read more

If you are going to open a butcher shop a few blocks from the West Side Market it better be good. This place hits all the marks and then some. Todd is really passionate about being local and really enjoys sharing his knowledge as it pertains to everything fresh and local. I first heard of this place at a friends house who made us the best charcuterie board I've ever had. The meats and cheeses came from this place. And they make all their own meats in house. Everything is amazing. I grilled some flank steak tonight and it was delicious. My daughter used some of the maple syrup we bought on her pancakes this morning. They source from fresh fork it seems to get other local gems from their network of other local farmers, bakers, etc. If you are looking for a place that make all their own charcuterie in house, or want to get a heritage nitrite/nitrate free grass fed meat this place has you covered. read more

I like the concept but disappointed with customer service. The staff don't greet you and aren't friendly. Helpfulness and aim to please with selection also lacking. I've gone 3 times now and each time the same experience. I like supporting local businesses but also like when they care about their customers experience. Wholeheartedly recommend. Great selection that varies from week to week, with a few staples always present. The charcuterie is simply delicious--best roast beef ever which, in addition, keeps really well! Delicious capicola, pastrami, duck breast procciutto.... all cooked/cured to perfection. Toulouse sausages!!!!! The first time I ever found them in Cleveland, and the taste is absolutely authentic. Duck confit too. Cassoulet, here we come! Great selection of local cheeses too, eggs, butter.... you can bring the egg carton back and all meats and cheeses are wrapped either in paper or separated with paper in your own glass container upon request. The OCP staff is friendly, pleasant and so knowledgeable! What a fantastic group of young people who really do things right. I look forward to visiting the store every week. I went to the Ohio City Provisions a couple of days ago. The lady at the checkout was very nice. The butcher was also pleasant. I purchased two tomahawk ribeye steaks. The price was $21.99 a pound and the total for the two steaks was over $60. I am not rich and do not spend that lavishly all the time. I put the steaks on a charcoal grill, to get a good crust and then finished them in the oven, to get that perfect medium rare. The steaks were tasty but for that much money, they were tough, If I wanted a tough tasty steak, I would have purchases a sirloin. I will not be going back, not because of the service but because of cost and toughness of the beef. read more

I was on a walk when a man waved at me through the window, I continued walking, realized I wasn't in a rush, so I backtracked and went into Provisions. A local market/deli, that stocks nothing by high quality locally sourced produce, and butchers all types of delicious meats. It's ran by extremely knowledgeable and down to earth people (with wonderful taste in alcohol!) I sampled the same cheese aged two months, four months, and six months and got to taste the difference in the flavor, a few deli cuts, and washed it down with fernet. I ended up getting curry sausage and hotdogs. My expectations are high- I just got home from my walk and cooking them tonight for dinner! Though I have lived and worked in West Cleveland for a few years, there are so many gems like provisions to explore!! read more

Ohio City Provisions is excellent. Our family have been members of Fresh Fork (a farm share) operated by Trevor Clutterbuck, proprietor of Ohio City Provisions. All of Fresh Forks extensive products are stocked on the shelves and in the freezer and cooler. Produce and artisan bread are also available. Hours till 7pm 7 days a week make this my go to after work! At Ohio City Provisions we purchased some of butcher Adam Lambert's mortadella, curry bratwurst, and organic free range chicken. OMG - the heritage pork is one of the best things I ever ate!!! Real rich pork flavor- well marbled, tender and juicy!!!!!! I went 2 times in one week. I asked them to save me their chicken hearts and livers for my Bengal. They accommodated my request at first. After the 1st order I waited a while and called them. They had saved the hearts/livers/gizzards. OK, fine, I went and picked them up. I was told I would have a standing order for the hearts going forward. I called about 6 weeks later and they had them but they just used them in their fresh dog food, grrrr. OK, got them to put in a new 'standing order' for only the chicken hearts. Called them about 3 weeks later and they didn't have any! OK, now I am pissed off. I understand that it takes time to get them together (only looking for 1/2 pound at a time), so I waited to call them to see what they had. I am very annoyed that I have asked several times and have been let down. I understand that it is an unusual request, but I was not satisfied with the latest results.
