This was the first time we tried this place. Adequate parking near Sprouts and lots of seating. You order at the counter and they bring out the freshly prepared meals. There is a self service condiments and beverage area at the back. Staff were friendly. Restrooms were clean.

Stopped by Fresh Mex & Co on 210 and had such a great meal! We started with the elotes, which were packed with flavor and the perfect appetizer. The steak burrito was huge, flavorful, and loaded with quality ingredients, while the shrimp fajitas came out sizzling and tasted fresh and delicious. Everything felt made to order, and the portions were generous. Great local spot for fresh, tasty Mexican food--we'll definitely be coming back!

Came for drinks and apps for a friend's birthday. Sat on the patio near the bar window. Service was quick. We ordered a variety of drinks and a few apps: chips & queso and street corn dip. The queso was a 7/10 (it's yellow and most of us in the group prefer white). The corn dip is served warm. It wasn't as flavorful as I expected, but not bad for a shareable for the group.

Came in today on Saturday, out to try something new before going about my day evening. I came in an the young girl in the front who took my order was great super kind, as was everyone else who I interacted with. Customer service was there 10/10. Food was a 3/10 I ordered the Birria Bowl $17.50. I ordered it, sat at the bar and in less than 5minutes the food was served. Shocking, once looking at the dish my appetite diminished, I am aware the dish was "Tex-Mex" but ughhh this is the 3rd "Mexican" spot in Saint Augustine/Jax I try that is anything but what I am used to as being authentic from California. Since I ordered Birria I expected to see my meat drenched in consume with lots of diced onions, cilantro full of flavor. The meat tasted like barbacoa, the sauce tasted like caldo de res, and there were big chunks of jalapeño. I really wasn't feeling it. Came with a side of chips with queso melted pepper jack maybe. I also ordered a bar drink mexican old fashioned. All in all food experience wasn't there.

Tried this place out today for the first time and it was great. I had the carne asada tacos, and as their appetizer we had their esquites with chips and a side of salsa. They had the barbacoa bowl. The only thing I would say is that the margarita was a bit too sweet and the tortillas for my tacos were cold. Our server was great. The place was well lit and they also had outdoor seating. Would def give this place another chance.

Decent vibe, tvs, full liquor bar. Food was ok. Nothing horrible but nothing special. If anything, it all leaned a little bland. It's counter service for the most part. Wouldn't make a special trip but probably decent for a lunch spot.

Great location with a fresh restaurant/bar ambiance. There are 3 ways to order, walk up to the counter, use the QR code at your table or they will come to take your order.Since it was our first time here, we decided to sit at a table.. we waited a few minutes to see if a server would come to take our order, but after seeing many people order at the counter and the table servers focusing on the bar area, we decided to use the QR code. We ordered a trio appetizers which includes guacamole, queso and salsa, a quesadilla, three tacos and two soft drinks. Bill was $45, before tip. The trio arrived quickly along with two empty cups, for the self-serve fountain drinks and iced tea. Sour cream is also self serve along with silverware. Paper towel rolls are on the table (which were very thin and rough in texture) like white bathroom paper towels. The entrees arrived not long after the appetizer, so you didn't really have time to enjoy the apps. The quesadilla was listed on the menu as including black beans, but when it arrived it only had cheese and chicken and was very bland. I would not return for food, but might go to enjoy some cocktails, but since we didn't order any, I'm not sure how their bar prices compare.

Fantastic! We are at the bar and Grace was 10/10 fantastic to order with! Full accuracy of orders, easy accommodation for my need for different drink make, and pleasant disposition! The Birria-Dilla was incredible, in flavor and value! We also had the queso nachos and that flavor was amazing! The chorizo was what really made them for sure.

I ordered a simple kids bowl (chicken, rice, beans, cheese, and a side of chips) and was kinda blown away by how fresh it tasted. Most restaurant food tastes like restaurant food but this was such great quality. I waited until 2pm to order from the happy hour menu ($3 off margaritas and other drinks) and got the Premium Marg. I'm so used to places giving premixed drinks that this also blew me away. He made it right in front of me and it was spectacular. Perfect ration, brimming with flavor. Front staff were kind to me and each other, which I appreciated observing. This is going to be our new go-to for a while now.

My mom and I decided to try this restaurant just passing by it. Food was great, it was during their transition period during lunch so we were only two there but we sat outside & the ambiance was nice out there. Our waitress was very nice. My mom got three tacos - two steak and 1 shrimp and I got the quesadilla. They both came with their own chips & salsa so no need to buy the chips and salsa appetizer. I wish I took better pics but we ate everything up before I could remember! I didn't order an alcoholic beverage but I've included the menu for you.

    My cousin enjoying the food.

Some evenings begin with a plan. Others begin with curiosity…read more Our visit to Pepper's Cocina Mexicana & Tequila Bar in St. Johns fell firmly into the second category. We were simply out enjoying the evening and decided to stop in for a drink. What we discovered instead was a lively neighborhood restaurant that blends vibrant Mexican energy with an unexpectedly refined touch. Pepper's Cocina sits on Harper Lane in St. Johns and immediately gives off the feeling that it is more than just another casual Mexican restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt open, welcoming, and festive, yet polished enough to make the space feel elevated. High ceilings, warm lighting, and a colorful but tasteful décor create an environment that feels equally suited for a relaxed evening cocktail or a lively dinner with friends. Pepper's is a family owned restaurant, and that local pride shows. The concept centers around fresh Mexican cuisine prepared daily, paired with a tequila focused bar program that highlights both traditional favorites and some unique selections. Since this visit began as a spontaneous stop for drinks, we decided to lean into what Pepper's clearly celebrates, tequila. Their tequila list is larger than what most casual restaurants offer, though we did find ourselves wishing the selection was even deeper given the restaurant's tequila bar positioning. That said, the offerings still provide plenty of variety for both casual tequila drinkers and enthusiasts looking to explore. One detail that caught our attention was the restaurant's house tequila. As someone who spends a good portion of his professional life in marketing, Peter immediately noticed the bottle design. The tequila itself was excellent, smooth and enjoyable, though we both felt the bottle label did not quite reflect the quality inside. Presentation matters in the spirits world just as plating matters in the culinary world. Still, the tequila itself impressed us enough that we purchased a bottle to bring home. While enjoying our drinks we decided to try one appetizer that several nearby tables seemed to be ordering. The Flaming Queso Dip arrived with a bit of theatrical flair that immediately turned heads. Served bubbling hot and dramatically finished tableside, the queso had a rich creamy texture with a satisfying depth of flavor. The slight smokiness from the flame preparation added an extra layer that elevated what could have been a simple appetizer into something memorable. It is the kind of dish that naturally brings people together around the table, dipping chips, sharing bites, and enjoying the moment. Service throughout our visit was attentive and friendly. Our server was knowledgeable about the tequila offerings and clearly took pride in the restaurant. Even though we were only there for drinks and an appetizer, we never felt rushed and were made to feel like welcome guests rather than quick turnover customers. Perhaps what stood out most about Pepper's was the energy of the room. There is a vibrant social buzz here that feels authentic and community driven. You could see families enjoying dinner, couples on date night, and groups gathered around margaritas and tequila flights. Restaurants like Pepper's succeed because they create an experience people want to return to. It is not just about the food or the drinks. It is about how the place makes you feel. Our visit was brief, but it left a strong impression. The festive ambiance, solid tequila program, flavorful appetizer, and warm service all combined to create an enjoyable evening. We did not explore the full dinner menu during this visit, which simply means one thing. We will absolutely be back. Star Rating: (4 Stars) Pepper's Cocina Mexicana & Tequila Bar is a lively, locally owned destination that delivers great energy, quality drinks, and a welcoming environment that makes it easy to settle in and stay awhile.

The baskets of chips seemed on the small side, we asked her to refill it 3x I think, and we didn't feel like we were eating a ton of chips. We then asked for queso. It was just, so so. Not much flavor, kind of watery, and a big chunk of something gooey in the middle, not sure what that was about. It didn't look very appetizing. I ordered a soft shelled beef taco. I think it was called the Americana. It was not awful, but not great either. It really had NO flavor at all. It was the thinnest flour tortilla I've ever seen. The tortilla was soggy when she sat the plate in front of me. Again, not real appetizing, and if the stars were based on presentation, it'd be negative. I did add salsa to the taco, which didn't add much flavor either. I don't know why I thought I'd be given more than just a taco on a small plate, but I thought it'd come with rice and beans, but I also didn't ask that question. Another person in our party ordered a soft beef taco with lettuce and cheese. The taco was very watery/ oily and not much flavor at all, the tortilla was also soggy. The last person in our party ordered surf and turf burrito and that was the one thing we ordered that was actually good.

I think it may have been Morgan (she had red hair). My daughter was recouping from having her tonsils and adenoids removed, so softer food that weren't spicy were items that we were looking for. This waitress knew the menu well and offered very helpful suggestions. She really went above and beyond trying to suggest and think of which dish would be best given my daughter's limitations. Our appetizer (Spinach and Artichoke Dip) was on the table in a timely manner and very good. (I didn't take a photo) Our meal arrived quickly and the presentation was very nice. I had the cheeseburger sliders. They were decent. I had a Sprite and she just had ice water. My daughter had chicken tenders with sweet potato fries and a special sweet dipping sauce that our thoughtful waitress suggested. I can't say much about the tenders as my daughter's viewpoint may not be fair given she is recouping from surgery. The sweet dip our waitress suggested was surprisingly delicious. We also had a side of hush puppies. The hush puppies were "so so", but in fairness to the establishment, it's not really a highlighted item on the menu, it was just a "side" that sounded good to us. My "Hang-Up" with "Walk-Ons" was that it was what I would consider pretty pricey given what we ordered. Our bill was $51 without tip. Pros: Excellent service, knowledgeable and friendly waitress, atmosphere. Cons: Price was on the high side given the menu items that we chose. Our conclusion was that it's likely a fun place to watch a game and have an appetizer/drinks with friends.

The floors were sticky and our shoes stuck to the floor. The women's restroom was out of order. The kiosks seem like a good idea but nobody there to ask questions or to get your drinks. If you can catch one of the two people working as they bring out orders you are lucky. The menus on the kiosks are pretty informative though and tell the ingredients for each item. Kiosk automatically adds 20% tip unless you change it. Considering you don't have any interaction with employees until they bring out your order other tipping options might apply. They cook to order which is nice except you don't get your drinks or your appetizers until it's your turn. There is a comment section to type no tomatoes or special instructions. Mine still came out with tomatoes but they promptly remade it for me. The food is pretty good. No complaints there other than having to remake one of my tacos. The chips and queso was pretty good. Chips were dusted with spices and served hot. We tried 6 different tacos and they were all very good. The tortillas were toasted on the grill which makes a big difference. You can get flour or corn tortillas. The chicken and steak were marinated before grilling and were big cubes and plentiful. The menu has a pretty big variety including a kids menu with chicken and fries. The last comment is their fountain machine for drinks. The coke tasted off. They may need to recalibrate it. Drinks are served in small clear throw away cups and the lids don't fit very well. Refills are hard to get. You have to wait for someone to come out of the back.
