I had been wanting to try this spot for awhile and was thrilled to make it on a taco Tuesday! It felt right. They have some incredible specials during the week, esp taco Tuesday. It was pretty crowded but our large party was able to be seated fairly quickly. The service was immediately amazing from the hostess to the servers and runners. Everyone was knowledgeable and warm. And the food! Most of us had tacos, and a wide variety. I kept it basic with just the chicken, onions, cilantro. Everything tasted fresh. Our whole party enjoyed all the food, drinks, and service. The decor was vibrant with all of the colors and paintings. The bar is beautiful with the bottle of tequila's and there were mini Christmas trees hanging from the ceilings. We went on taco Tuesday and they had taco deals and house margaritas on sale. I had one surf and turf, one siracha shrimp, and one quesa Birria taco and they were all so good. We had never been to La Catrina but had been to the plaza it's in before which we like. We came in on Taco Tuesday and I love that they do specials for it. All tacos are $3.49 and let me tell you they have a lot of options. They also have daily specials everyday of the week as well which is great. Once seated we were quickly brought out chips and salsa and since we had a party of 7 they brough out 3 of each which was great. They even brought us out some spicy salsa when we asked. We of course had to get Queso and Guacamole as well. The Queso was good your typical white queso. The guacamole was a little bland were through and could have been better seasoned. They do have a bunch of hot sauce options on the table so we did add some of that to it which helped. Since it was Taco Tuesday I had to go with a few tacos. I originally was going to go with 5 but after the amount of chips, salsa, queso, and guacamole Ashley talked me down to 4 which for sure was the right move. I went with the Pastor, Chicharron, (both Street Tacos), The Surf and Turf and the Jaguar. All of them were good but I think my 2 favorite with the Jaguar which had a nice large piece of fried fish and a lot of flavor going on thanks to the Mango Habanero Salsa, and the Surf and Turf. The Chicharron Street Taco was a little different then I expected since I though it would be crispier where it was more on the fatter texture side but still good flavor. We came by on a week night for some tacos and were delighted by the great deals they had here! I ordered two tacos the Mr. Papa and the Siracha Shrimp. Both tacos were good but the Siracha Shrimp was my favorite of the two. We also ordered guacamole and queso, I loved the queso but the guacamole was very bland. There were several parties celebrating and lots of fun ways we saw the staff celebrating them! Went on a first date here. The food was flavorful & delicious, colorful artwork on the walls, & vibrant fun atmosphere. Juan was our server. He was very helpful & kind. I really enjoyed the TABLE SIDE GUACAMOLE!! It was so fresh & yummy! I had to have tacos of course!! I tried two specialty tacos: The JAGUAR with battered fried fish, slaw, pico, cheese, & mango habanero sauce. The SRIRACHA SHRIMP with grilled shrimp, slaw, pico, cheese, & sriracha mayo. Both tacos had great textures & melding of flavors! I also tried the QUESA BIRRIA street taco. Full of shredded beef & cheese, topped with cilantro & picked onion, served with a lovely avocado crema & dipping broth. Full of spice & rich decadent flavors. The broth adds another depth to the taco. The food was delicious, the chips & salsa were so yummy as well! The only thing not great was the noise. What a nice little find. Great atmosphere with live music. On a Tuesday! Perfect weather for patio dining. Service was top notch all around including bar and table side guac service. I enjoyed a well made house margarita with delicious chicken fajitas. Portions with large with leftovers. Interesting side note I found this place because of a coupon I had. I forgot to use. Planning my next trip to go back This place was hopping for an early Tuesday evening. As a solo diner I shared my table with a nice couple that was looking for a patio table. Have been coming here for years and always relatively happy with everything. Came yesterday for the first time in a few months and had a few unfortunate surprises. First off the food prices have gone up, this will no longer be our affordable Sunday lunch spot. The enchiladas rancheras in specific have gone from $12 to $15. Besides that we ordered 2 of the combo dinners on Sunday for $12 each via the promotion which was nice, but the food was SO SALTY, and my colleagues blood pressure was off the charts. They should at least serve the food without excess salt (I know it's a cheap flavor enhancer but cmon). Besides that service was fine and the atmosphere was too, but if you're looking for cheap Mexican food with good portions there's a few places down the road, even Moes, that have better everything. read more

Out shopping with more to be done and hungry! We decided to try La Catrinas Tacos. Since it was a little chilly, we decided to eat inside. They do have a fun outside seating area, as well as a lounging area. Menu has many different options, including a lunch menu. Don't forget Happy Hour. The margarita and sangria combo looked really tasty (my friends said they were). We all ordered something different. I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas (chicken pieces were smaller than most places - it was easier to make and eat the fajita). At our table - the steak and mushroom quesadilla, the loaded nachos and the beef quesadilla were also ordered. Everything was delicious, including the chips and salsa. Portion sizes good, prices competitive. Our server was personable, attentive, but not intrusive. While we were eating we got to watch the artist as he continued working on the large wall design. The restaurant is bright and colorful. Very clean too. The bar area looks never ending. Very tasty food, fun ambiance and welcoming environment- we will be back. Not Celiac Safe I came to eat here with my girlfriend last night, she has Celiac and so ingesting any amount of gluten can cause severe damage to her digestive system. I informed the waitress of her condition, our waitress told me that the corn tortillas were gluten free and that the chips had their own dedicated fryer. My girlfriend felt very nauseous last night after eating here, and vomited several times today because of what we suspect to be cross contamination. I'll finish by saying that I love the food here and have always been happy with the service, but unfortunately I'll have to cross this place off the list of places we can eat. A good change the kitchen staff should make would be to dedicate one piece of cookware for corn tortillas only. read more

We were in tue area for a cross country meet and looking for a place for lunch. My family was pleased with La Catrina! We were seated right away in a booth that accommodated 6 people. Our drink orders were taken right away and we were given some time to look over the menu. They had their lunch available on Saturday! We all ordered and it came out in a timely manner. I ordered the Huevos con Chorizo that came with tortillas, rice and beans. Delicious, huge portion and had a lot left over! My husband had the Steak Fajitas. Came with beans, salad and tortillas. So very good. It was a large portion but there was none leftover! The rest of our family ordered the burrito, fajita quesadilla, and taco salad. Which they all loved. And took home! The key words in this review is LARGE PORTIONS! The inside was very clean and bright. Decorated with bold bright colors and had a variety of tables, booths and bar seating. I'm never going back here. Tonight I ordered 2 of their "specialty dishes"; the bacon wrapped shrimp with jalapeño for an appetizer, and the server suggested the chicken with mushroom sauce for my entree. She said it was really good. Lol. First mistake, both the appetizer and the entree came out at the same time, which was very poor time management, and both were LOUSY. (And it wasn't even busy in there...) Although the shrimp with bacon were cooked nicely and I at a few of them, the sauce was so incredibly salty that it ruined the dish. The chef shouldn't add salt to a dish with bacon in it anyway, but this sauce was just awful. SALT SOUP. I could only eat a few because of the salty sauce, even after wiping it off with a napkin. The entree was equally terrible. The chicken was SO DRY and completely tasteless, zero flavor, there was only a tiny dab of mushroom sauce in the middle of a pounded flattened breast, a few pieces of mushroom and onion, the rice was crunchy, and the only thing edible was the refried beans. This meal cost $30 and I couldn't have been more disappointed. Last time I went there a few months ago I had steak and chicken fajitas, which were also terrible. I don't know how they stay open. I feel sorry for the servers as they were very nice but have to serve unacceptable food. I don't recommend this place. read more

I admit, I am one of those people who do not like the taste of cilantro. Please don't come for me lol. That being said, I was disappointed today when my order arrived via Uber Eats, and my tacos were smothered in it, even though my order ticket clearly stated " please do not add any cilantro." I wish I could say this was the first time this happened, but it is not. Just the first time I've said anything. I will go back again, and just make sure whatever I order does not come with cilantro at all, so it's less likely to happen. Fingers crossed!
